15 May 2026 Three days of chaos – ever since the Order, and the Ministry, had gotten their first real breakthrough in months thanks to Ana Karkaroff’s undercover work with the Purifiers. Three days of quiet – secrecy was vital as Bianca assembled her strike team, choosing from the best Aurors and Hit Wizards and any other qualified Ministry staff to finally take down Elaine and end the Purifiers for good. Three days of waiting – Bianca’s instincts screamed at her to rush in, to finish the job, but she knew it wasn’t the right call to make. Elaine had chosen Hogwarts as her main base, burrowing deep among the students -- protection, one might say, but Bianca knew the real word for it. Targets. Shields. Collateral damage. They couldn’t storm the castle and take the Purifiers by force without some kind of organized effort, without preparing for an ambush or some mitigating plan Elaine might have put in place. So it had been three days of purgatory, furiously putting together a strike plan while pretending there was nothing wrong. Bianca had barely slept – if she wasn’t in her office, reviewing attack formations with the Head Auror and Hit Wizard, then she was in Godric’s Hollow doing the same with the Order. But she hadn’t left the Ministry in almost a full day, because there was simply too much to do to consider going home. Too many pieces that needed to be put in place. Bianca squinted at the time on her phone (it was the 15th, and already growing late) as she reviewed the plan in her head. There was a small team, composed of Law Enforcement officials, that had already been deployed to wait in Hogsmeade – they would be the first wave. A parallel team stayed mobilized in the Ministry, ready to be led by Bianca whenever the order came. And, of course, there were some Ministry members with the Order that had been fully informed of all the Ministry's efforts to mobilize, instead of only being briefed on their small role like the rest of the department employees would have been. "Fiendfyre inside Hogwarts. Need assistance immediately. The three most senior members of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement grew silent as a Patronus shot into the room, a lion speaking with the deep voice of a professor at Hogwarts. Fiendfyre…so it had already started. Elaine was making her move, a terrible one at that, which meant the Ministry needed to make theirs. After a moment, Bianca cleared her throat and nodded at the Head Hit Wizard. “Change of plan. Apparate to the Hogsmeade Team. Mobilize immediately and prepare to neutralize the Fiendfyre as much as you can. If you can’t stop it, at least slow it down.” She waited for them to leave the room, then turned to the Head Auror. “We're taking the HQ Team straight to the castle to round up every Purifier we can, any way possible. All the relevant fireplaces should already be connected to the Floo network. Go get the team ready.” As they left as well, Bianca sent out her own shark Patronus immediately to Harry. “Ministry on the move. Fiendfyre at the castle. Bring back-up.” She took a deep breath to center herself, the way she would before any mission as an Auror. Then she Disapparated before she could begin to question herself. A moment later, she was standing with the rest of the HQ Team, staring at Hogwarts from the other side of the bridge as they watched the smoke lift into the air. Bianca had never visited the castle before, so her eyes swept across the almost serene view -- setting aside the roar of the fiery chimeras she could hear from within. "Remember our mission," Bianca began in a steely voice, "Our target is Elaine and any other Purifier she has with her. Hogsmeade Team is handling the Fiendfyre, but...help whoever you find. HQ Team, roll out!" It had been three days of planning, waiting for the first domino to fall and start a chain reaction. There was no more time for thinking – only action. Tag: Ministry folks, but especially those with the Order! Anyone can jump in from Law Enforcement or anybody else that would feasibly be included in either the Hogsmeade or HQ teams.

It had been a slow day at the pub, and Harry left long before the dinner rush would come around. He trusted his staff, who had more than once proven worthy of any sort of stress that would be thrown their way. Harry strode purposefully out of the pub and down the lane to the home he shared with his wife and three children - at least, when they could be bothered to come home. The lock clicked as he tapped the doorknob, and he entered. The telly blared in the next room, discussing how the two muggle political parties were at loggerheads once more, and Harry couldn’t help the reluctant grin that spread across his face. But the lounge was deserted, and Harry instead drifted towards the kitchen, his belly rumbling.
Harry had been rather distracted the past few days - Ana Karkaroff had fulfilled the herculean task he had set her, and found out critical information about the Purifiers. In fact, she’d found out where Elaine had been hiding and biding her time. When Ana informed Harry and Bianca that Elaine had been in the Chamber of Secrets of all places, Harry felt sick. Harry, like the young woman who had informed Ana of this, thought it was only a matter of time before Elaine struck. And so, plans were made, troops mobilised, and yet the air of mystery remained, everything balancing on a knife’s edge as they all pretended nothing had happened.
Harry was just rifling around in the cabinet to look for some pasta to cook when the message came. Fiendfye had been released within Hogwarts - and the castle would soon be on the brink of collapse. His hunger vanished, replaced with a stabbing pain deep in his abdomen. Hogwarts had been his home for so long - the only place that he had felt seen and understood. So similar to Tom Riddle, and yet Elaine didn’t seem to have the same viewpoint. Fiendfyre would destroy the castle beyond recognition. A hub for the magical world just seemed to be another blockade that Elaine had to avoid. Without a second thought, Harry twisted on the spot, apparating to Hogsmeade where he knew Bianca would be organising her strike force.
Bottle green eyes met chocolate brown, and understanding passed between Bianca and Harry silently. Bianca turned to address the rest of the group, stating that their main focus was finding and taking down Elaine. But as he was no longer a member of the ministry, Harry didn’t feel guilty about having a completely different goal - to find Lily and Hugo and to save as many students he could as he went along. He couldn’t lose any more family, especially not after the explosion from Elaine that had taken Hermione. Revenge had never been a driver for Harry - only when he had faced significant loss, like when Bellatrix had killed Sirius all those years ago. Even now, the desire to serve justice for Elaine’s crimes paled in comparison for Harry’s need to protect his legacy - his daughter and nephew.
”Bianca, we need to get students out,” said Harry as two teams of aurors and hit wizards streaked towards the castle. ”Keep James with you. I trust you to ensure he comes out of this one alive. And I want Ana with me,” he added after a moment, casting his gaze around for the true hero of the moment - the one who had made their retaliation possible, hopefully bringing an end to this nightmare once and for all.

Forgiveness is the ultimate sacrifice Eloquence belongs to the conqueror May 15, 2026 tagged It wasn’t that Ana had never had confidence in herself or her mission but truthfully, never in her wildest dreams did she imagine that the answer she had sought would land in her lap like that. The Purifiers—or at least some, were human after all. Acting normal and shielding the hurricane of thoughts and emotions inside her while at work had been simple enough. And considering Ivy’s family background, Bianca had almost leaped with joy at the thought of putting Asher Burke under surveillance. But, it was tricky. Hazel was also being watched, though her movements were limited as she was also a Professor.
People had been chosen carefully from the Auror department, Hit Wizards, and Interpol, but Elaine tended to leave her behind, considering the path of destruction. They handpicked the experienced ones along with Order members who had more facts about the situation. Secrecy had been important due to possible leaks, but also, they didn't need an Auror storming into the Entrance Hall to protect their child or sibling and ruining their element of surprise. They’d briefed the teams—one assembling at the village while the rest would wait at the Ministry, but as Ana took a moment to take a breath and pause, she realized how exhausted she was, and they weren’t even close to being done. She didn’t honestly know what waited for them or how they would ensure the students’ safety entirely once it all got started.
However, as she stood in the room with Bianca and other senior members, including her own boss, she didn’t have time to dwell on the matter as a Patronus in the shape of a Lion entered the room. Fiendfyre. Ana swallowed hard. While many had perished instantly at the Quidditch Final, Fiendfyre promised a slow and painful death. Bianca took care of notifying the Order, though many had already deployed. The room was loud with individuals disapparating, including herself, and she was in Hogsmeade village also staring at the plume of cursed smoke coming from the Castle.
More people were apparating next to her as she noted her colleagues from the Order of the Phoenix, including Harry. But as he mentioned his son—she realized James wasn’t around. ”James must have left with the Hit-Wizards. He was part of the team here.” Ana had memorized the notes she’d been staring at for the past two and a half days. The boy was quite the chatterbox and often behaved like a twelve-year-old, but even Ana could see the determination in young Potter’s eyes and how seriously he took this moment. Plus, this involved his family greatly. She turned and gave a quick look to Bianca before turning to Harry, and she asked, ”Harry, what other entrances to the Castle are there?”

the mood in the office changed in less than a moment. they'd been mobilized but waiting. the plan's being finalized and put in motion as they waited, ready to jump to action when they were given the go ahead. it had been days of planning, of waiting and of learning their roles in what they were going to do once their mission started. they knew where elaine was and now they were going to do something about it. he was part of the team on standby at the ministry, the other team were waiting in hogsmeade for the go ahead. it felt like an eternity but at the same time the seconds flew past as if they had no time to prepare. it had been hours of no sleep, trying to keep mentally ready all the while remaining as calm as possible. there was no point in getting worked up before a fight, at least in his experience.
he knew the order would be involved but he'd forfeited his right to know what was happening with them the moment he'd withdrawn from them. it had been the right choice at the time. he'd needed to focus and streamline his attention so he wasn't putting in a half assed effort where it counted but he still couldn't help but feel regret over the fact. this quiet while they'd been waiting had been the perfect time for him to wait and overthink, which is what he'd done. he couldn't help but think which of the people he called his family would be putting themselves in harms way when the time came. he knew the ones in the ministry, albus and james were the first to jump into his mind but then there was his family in the order. he didn't know where they'd be in this and that scared him. they'd dealt with enough loss over the last few months and he didn't want them to go through anymore.
the moment the call came to go, he went. turning on the spot he left his desk at the ministry and landed in the crisp air that surrounded hogsmeade. there was a heaviness in the air, the atmosphere thick with anticipation as the quiet streets of the small village were suddenly filled with the loud pops of the ministries forces entering it's streets. it was the familiar face that drew him to the group he walked towards. the face of his godfather in the sea of ministry was like a grounding point. this wasn't the time for pleasantries, seconds wasted while waiting for a break in conversation. this was a race against the clock and right now it felt like they were already loosing. "there's the forest. it's proved effective before." he offered as a suggestion for an alternative route into the castle. he wasn't harry but he didn't bother with that at the moment. idea's were idea's right?

doing what he was told had never really been one of luke's strongest traits. he supposed it came with having the last name weasley, there weren't many of them that were sticklers for rules and falling into line. he's never really seen it as a bad thing but he'd never had to be in charge of someone in his family. he did wonder if it would bite him when his child was born. after all they were going to be a mix of him and virv and all he could think was, merlin help the world. he didn't have to worry about them at the moment, he knew that virv was currently watching sav's twins so she was safe and far from anything that could happen tonight. even though she'd left the ministry he couldn't help but worry something would happen but knowing where she was and the fact that she was safe let him focus on tonight.
he knew the trainee's weren't being mobilized like the rest of the department. they weren't experienced enough, they could be a liability if things went wrong and they weren't trained right. but he knew he couldn't sit and do nothing. doing nothing was as bad as being on the purifiers side. at least to him. his family was there. he had cousins at the school where elaine was, not to mention the fact his father was a professor there. he had cousins in the ministry who would be joining the fight and he wasn't about to sit on his hands or twiddle his thumbs until they arrived back at the ministry safe and sound. there hadn't been a direct order that prohibited them from going to hogsmeade, or at least he was going to assume that because he hadn't heard otherwise. just that they weren't going into the actual battle.
he found himself in the village when the rest of the auror's mobilized. he had resigned himself to not going up to the castle to help up there. as much as he wanted to get up there and make sure his family was okay he didn't do that for two reasons. he didn't want to lose his job, not that it was more important that his family but he did have a family he needed the job for. which was the second reason why he wouldn't try to join the fight. he needed to go home to his family. he looked around at the wizards and witches who were filling the streets of hogsmeade. if he couldn’t be there as an auror, he’d be there as part of the order and would say as such, it wasn’t like they could fire him from the order. there was a few faces he could see in the crowd that were members like he was and even though they were talking amongst themselves it was a good a starting point as any to find out what he could do. he crossed the street to where his uncle harry and the group he was talking to were standing and avoided the flurry of robed aurors and hit wizards rushing past towards the school on bianca’s order.

For a moment, Bianca couldn’t tear her eyes away from the sight of the burning castle. She had never been to Hogwarts before, and felt her heart twist at the thought that she’d never have the opportunity now to see Hogwarts in all its glory – if the stories of her British colleagues were worth anything, at least. Heavy plumes of smoke rose into the sky, blanketing the sun, and all the signs of fiendfyre were easily seen even from their chosen viewpoint, sweeping through the castle unrestrained. Dread settled in her stomach at the thought of all the students still trapped inside, and Bianca turned to face Harry as he articulated that fear. “I’ll find him,” she said after a pause, expression set in stone as Aurors and Hit Wizards continued to Apparate around them and settle into the formation they’d practiced. As Ana appeared next to them, Bianca exhaled sharply through her nose and turned to study the castle again. “Finding a way into Hogwarts will be the first battle,” she decided, eyes catching on the towers for a moment before continuing the search for obvious entrances. The Hogsmeade Team would be using the fireplaces to storm Hogwarts and tackle the Fiendfyre immediately, but the group assembled with Bianca would have more trouble finding a way in. “The Purifiers will be expecting the Ministry to show up. I’m sure they have orders to fight us off as long as possible.” She nodded vaguely as Harry asked Ana to stay with him – having gone to Durmstrang, Ana would be as lost as Bianca without a guide – and finally stood with her back to the castle to examine the Aurors and Hit Wizards around her. Many were already sorting themselves into pairs and running ahead, shouting instructions at each other and removing their wands from their robes. There were no trainees as far as Bianca could tell. Good – many of them had never been in a real fight, and taking care that they didn’t hurt themselves or freeze in the moment would only hinder an already impossible mission. That line of thought was interrupted by Teddy Lupin’s interjection about the forest, and since Bianca didn’t know the castle, she nodded at him and said, “Fine. Take a partner and go.” There were too many thoughts running through her mind, too many details to risk forgetting. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath to center herself and declutter her mind of any distracting emotions. Opening her eyes again, Bianca turned to Ana and Harry. “I need most of the Ministry forces to take out the Fiendfyre and any Purifiers who show up, but the Order can help professors evacuate students. I’m going to find James.” She turned swiftly on her heel and began to run in the direction of the castle, following the trickle of Aurors and Hit Wizards now flooding the Grounds. “And then I’m going to put a backpack with a leash on him. And attach it with a Permanent Sticking Charm,” she muttered under her breath, eyes locked on the burning castle ahead. HARRY JAMES POTTER anastasia marie karkaroff @edward …and others!

Post by Claire Evangeline Slater on Oct 15, 2021 16:19:29 GMT -7
THE SHARK TOOTHED PATRONUS GHOSTED INTO a office on a watered down afterthought. Strangely calm in its deliverance of 'Ministry on the move' and 'Fiendfyre' as a call to arms. It was not the signal Claire had expected, but it was a signal none the less. Somewhere - distantly - she was aware of a chair being toppled over as she stood. Her wand slipped between clenched teeth as she withdrew a hair clip from her pocket, and hastily clawed her sharp blonde locks in to a messy clasp at the nape of her neck. It was time to move, and Claire wasn't about to be caught by the root once again.
The halls were a flurry of motion, the air cracking as bodies popped out of place, apparating to Hogsmeade as instructed in a panicked hurry. Claire flinched to avoid an errant shoulder, sticking close to the wall to avoid an inadvertent side-along. Cas had stripped her clean of Wyrdness, but the fear of splinching remained. She followed the uniforms down to the Floo network, the air slick with acrid smoke already as they slid out of existence and in to the ether. Fiendfyre stuck deep in her throat, the school that had raised her eaten alive by its merciless jaws. Her blood was humming with fear and exhilaration, she thought of her sister's rabid curiosity and how it might cost her in the collision.
The smoke filled Claire's lungs as she spoke her destination in to the powder and felt it yank her in to place. Her skin stretched and stomach rolling as she landed with a thud in the smoky remnants of the fire in The Three Broomsticks. Soot dirtying her fingers and the sharp cut of her jaw as she wiped spittle from the corner of her mouth and slid out of the pit. Patting smoke from her Auror robes as she crossed the empty pub and slid out of the doorway before it was too late. And yet, even as she did, she felt a mounting dread wobble her nerve. She took off at a run, her lungs gulping chilly mouthfuls of air, wand held tight in her fist as she sprinted to catch up with her fellow Order officials.
It was Bianca's voice she heard first, even above the din of marbled instructions and splitting partners. There was an authority about Bianca that had always rankled Claire. Even when she had been directionless, she could single that sharpened tongue out from the crowd at a moments notice. It reminded her of Ana's, but that rankled Claire for a whole different collection of reasons. "Hey-" She gasped, swallowing as she slowed to a stop near her right shoulder. Her face cold, but neck sweaty. "Didn't think you could leave me behind, did you?" She smirked, flicking her brows up as she surreptitiously wiped her clammy palm against her robes and turned her head to take in the bright orange glow in the distance.
Fiendfyre was relentless, Claire felt her gut rolling as she thought of all those caught inside the castle as it ravaged all it encountered. Children, Ministry members, her sister. Claire's expression was suddenly grave, her brows creased as she turned her head and whispered low into the tip of her wand, the end glowing silver before a scampering badger grew large enough to disappear into the crowd. 'Addilynn Slater', was its recipient and the message relayed, 'Head for the forest, report back when you are safe'. When it disappeared out of sight, Claire turned back to look at Bianca.
"Any Purifiers in there won't stick around Fiendfyre if they know what's good for them," Claire muttered obviously, shaking her head at the idiocy of the entire plan. Fiendfyre wasn't a weapon that could be aimed, she wondered if they'd known that when they'd unleashed it. "We should fan out and ward as much of the perimeter as possible, force them through a bottle neck for capture." Claire felt rage somewhere at the back of her throat, sticky and impatient.

▲ The sudden, simultaneous scraping of desk chairs pushing against the floors of the Law Enforcement department told Finn that something was happening before she even heard the news. Her desk was hidden away in a corner along with the other few remaining MACUSA aurors that had decided to stick around to assist with international matters. Even her own people were somewhat cautious around her, though that was nothing new. Despite New York being the home office, those from all over the country tended to give her and the rest of her former team a wider birth. Apparently they forgot that defending MACUSA and watching over one of the largest cities in the country meant that the New York aurors were less afraid of getting their hands dirty. But that didn't mean she was being left out of the commotion going on. It was all hands on deck apparently - fiendfyre let loose inside Hogwarts. The numbing brain blast of fear for her sister's safety went through her as she quickly slid her MACUSA issued leather jacket on, which always made her crew stick out from the more formal attire of the Ministry aurors. There was to be more information given out once they were on the ground and at the site, so she disapparated with her group to Hogsmeade. What should have been a fresh breath of evening mountain air was instead mixed with an encroaching smoke billowing out of the castle up ahead. Finn had never been inside the school but had stared at it from Hogsmeade plenty of times since her arrival in London a few years prior. Amongst the growing numbers of Ministry employees and other important figures popping into place around her, she started hearing orders given about where to go and what to do. Her first instinct was to move away from the MACUSA group, who would undoubtedly be given directions to help with triage and security. She wanted to be in the action, so she quickly slipped away and towards the familiar shape of Slater. Her British counterpart would probably be going all in to make a name for herself, making that the best place to be. "Looks like I'm with you," Finn stared at the other woman. Forgiveness is the ultimate sacrifice Eloquence belongs to the conqueror May 15, 2026 tagged Ana shouldn’t have been surprised that things were hardly going according to plan. The goal had been to be in the Castle before anything happened, but now it seemed they were late. Anxiety fluttered in Ana’s chest as she wondered if their time preparing, that delay would allow Elaine to escape once more. But, more than anything, she had always held a concern about letting Ivy go back to the school—hopefully, she was still on their side. The air was filled with shouting, screaming, and the loud noises backup arriving. But, before she could follow up on her question to Harry, a voice chimed in, and Ana’s gaze slowly found its way to the source.
She blinked a few times at Lupin, but as she was unfamiliar with the school grounds and layout, she couldn’t comment. Still, her gaze kept moving to the newer faces that arrived, another boy with red hair that Ana was not familiar with. Bianca gave them orders, and she pulled her wand out of her robes. It wasn’t dueling, but she was ready for a fight. But again, her gaze slowly moved toward another person in Auror’s robes joining their small group. And if Lupin’s presence wasn’t enough to annoy her, this one certainly would seal the deal. ”Nice of you to join us, Slater. End up in the wrong village?” Her eyebrow raised slightly as she glared at the blonde woman. Their paths crossing never ended well, but she didn’t continue—instead glancing back at Harry to see if he was ready.
Still, Ana listened but didn’t acknowledge Claire’s suggestion. It was a good one and might help them capture those who could give them answers. ”Seems like a job for border patrol.” Ana managed to comment before giving her one last look and taking off toward the castle.

Within moments, they were surrounded by colleagues, all talking over one another. Harry took a deep breath, before speaking. "Claire's right. They're going to be getting out of the castle by whatever means possible - and hopefully while they expect the ministry, they don't expect us," said Harry. When Luke appeared, Harry glared at his nephew. "Luke, what the hell are you doing here? What about your fiancé? Do you really want your kid to potentially grow up without a dad?" sniped Harry, feeling the same anger bubble up in him that did all those years ago as he accused Lupin of ditching his kids. "Return to her at once." And that was an order.
"The purifiers will be fleeing, but so should the children. Bianca, you and James can take point on the purifiers within the castle - but James, stick to defensive manoeuvres. Ana and I will evacuate the students as much as we can - there's quite a few passageways I'm hoping Elaine doesn't know about, but she did rediscover the Chamber of Secrets," said Harry, not letting the anxiety that roiled within him show. "Claire, you take the rest and mark the perimeter. Make sure the exits to passageways are covered - I want at least two in the Shrieking Shack, two in Honeydukes, and two in the Hogshead. Everyone else, split between those three and also man the main gate. Ensure the school's boundaries haven't been compromised," said Harry, as if he directed troops like this every day. He turned to Teddy, the boy he'd so long considered a son - they hadn't spoken since their last disagreement in Harry's house. "Teddy," said Harry, his voice cracking ever so slightly. "Take a team into the forest - I doubt they'll go there, they're not waiting anything out. This is different from Voldemort - he wanted the institution standing. Elaine does not. But just to be safe, mark the edge of the forest - don't go too far in. See if Charlie Weasley has some beasts that can help," said Harry.
"And Anastasia, this is not the time for petty arguments. We're fighting for our lives," said Harry sharply as Ana mocked Claire. He glared at the two women as they watched each other with such a venom in their eyes, Harry was shocked that they didn't start clawing one another's eyes out. We're on the same team now. Regroup here in an hour," said Harry. "Fight well - but try not to get yourself killed."

THE ADRENALINE MADE CLAIRE'S BLOOD SING, but she took care not to look too excited about having a purpose. It was still a struggle to stay in place as she watched Bianca disappear and the crowd breathe and shift as they awaited some ultimate, singular purpose. She dug in her heels and thought about her patronus, hoping it survived the journey to Addilyn and could make it back in time with an answer. Her wand fist tightened, shoulders so tense that she flinched when a body sidled up to her.
Claire heard the sound if expertly tanned leather crinkle, alerting her to who it was before they even broke breath. She was already sighing when Finn cast her an almost smug look. Though she had already decided that was probably just Finn's face. "You wore the coat..." She muttered through terse lips, under her breath lest her petty derision be overheard. Unimpressed, her eyes cast across her figure, but she didn't disagree with Finn's declaration as she turned away, just in time to catch Ana Karkaroff's twisted expression.
"Maybe," She snapped, caught off guard but unable to help herself as she added, "Are you here to make arrests and check passports?" She tilted her head with a thin, toothless smile, tense like a coiled spring. Of course, she knew that there was very little time to relive her bitter rivalry with the Karkaroff, her glare broken by Harry's commanding voice as it rose above the crowd. She found his eye immediately, her expression slackening as she listened raptly. If Harry was speaking, then they were about to move. She noted every single job, wondering where she might end up before he came to her head lifted at the sound of her name.
Claire could handle a perimeter marking, she thought, though her mind travelled all the way into the castle where her sister might still by fighting for her life. Before Harry had even wrapped up his delegations, Claire had decided she would do all she could. But, if Addy hadn't gotten back to her by the time she was finished, she was going to find her by herself. Fiendfyre wouldn't burn itself out. Claire was already edging her way from the crowd when she cast Ana a smug smile in the aftermath of that last lingering barb, wiggling her fingers in a wave - though she smarted at the insult on her own behalf, they really did have better things to do.
When she broke away, she looked back and raised a brows impatiently at where Finn still stood, "Are you coming or not?" She asked expectantly, turning without a second glance before she broke out into a run.
