As per usual, when the bells for midnight rang out Marcia was still wide awake, surrounded by friends walking along the corridors of the castle. It was amazing how many students stayed out past curfew, especially after the two murders that have happened at Hogwarts this semester. Still, she was led out of the common room by five others not too long ago. One of them was carrying a small cauldron filled with a dark liquid, which Marcia assumed was just paint. They occasionally did graffiti along the more abandoned walls and classrooms in the castle, though Marcia usually cleaned it off when the others weren't looking. As much as she loved staying out and pulling pranks, she didn't like causing any harm to the castle-or to others.
She was laughing in the back of the group with another girl when she heard a voice at the front, "Hey! Freak!" Marcia whipped around, a furious look on her face. They knew how she felt about treating Peeves like that, the poltergeist was just trying to have some fu-wait. That wasn't Peeves. A swift fist punched the seemingly innocent student in the face and Marcia pushed through the others in front of her, her hair suddenly igniting in emerald flames, "Hey! Stop that!" she called out. She grabbed his arm as the guy up front splashed the dark liquid all over the victims face, but some of it whipped back onto Marcia because she had thrown off his balance a little. "Marc what the he-" he stopped and watched as the person in front of them began to react to the dark liquid.
It was blood, Marcia could taste some of it on her lip. She took a step back as he changed, that's when she recognized his face. It was Cain. That half-vampire Ravenclaw whom everyone thought was a murderer. Her hair ignited into even brighter flames as she pulled out her wand, unsure of what to do next. The others giggled with delight at his transformation and began taunting him. Marcia took another step back. Didn't they realize what they had just done!? Cain could easily kill them all if he wanted to and now Marcia had to make a choice as to where her loyalties would lie in a moment life this.
Luckily, she didn't have to start fighting anyone for Cain reached into his robes and crushed a vial in his hand. Marcia let out a little shout as the glass broke and reached out for a moment, only to let her hands suspend in the air as she watched him change back. When he turned back to them, the blood clean from his face, Marcia quickly wiped the blood from her own. "Awe, you're no fun little freak," one of the group said and the rest joined in disappointed grumblings before slowly slipping into the darkness. They had seen Cain in class and in the dueling club, it was clear that he was not one to be toyed with. They were cowards, the lot of them. Marcia watched as they slipped away. Her friend, the other girl, raised an eyebrow at her but Marcia stayed. She mouthed I'm okay, go on, with an encouraging smile.
She turned away from her group and back to Cain. Taking a slow step toward him, she pocketed her wand, but she couldn't stop the flames that engulfed her hair. In the dark moonlight, the flames sort of gave her a greenish aura. She could tell that his hand was bleeding from where he had crushed the vial. She wanted to help, but she wasn't quite sure how yet.

Marcia wasn't surprised when he took not of her hair first, that's how introductions usually happened in a heightened scenario. She almost smiled when he said it was lovely, but just kept a straight face. His tone had changed, he wasn't as venomous as a moment ago. But, when he faced the window, it changed once again. Her eyes widened as he started to rant about how she was obviously some sort of evil mastermind and what not. She didn't say anything, for he didn't even give her any time to, as he started giving her suggestions as to what names she could call him.
To be honest, she almost wanted to jinx him right there for being so unkind as to assume that she would behave that way. That wasn't who she was at all. She held her ground, both arms at her sides, as he closed in on her. Her eyes were wide, but didn't show fear. She wasn't afraid, she was intrigued. Obviously his past and his situation had caused him to become pretty paranoid about being cornered like this.
Was this guy bipolar? His tone changed once again to something a little more... amused? She wasn't sure. She had no idea what the hell he was talking about. She stared into his eyes and willed him to stop ranting and raving about all of that nonsense. She didn't say anything for a moment as they seemingly looked into each others souls for a moment. She took a slow step towards him, her eyes softening and her heart pounding a little harder.
"Now, will you let me look at that hand?" she spoke firmly as she reached forward and suddenly clasped his wrist, pulling his bleeding hand up toward her face. Most of the glass was gone, "Just hold still," she quickly picked out the last few pieces of glass before pulling out her wand, casting a small healing spell that would stop the bleeding. She dropped his hand just as quickly as she had picked it up before looking up into his face.
"Now, do you have any other assumptions you'd like to make of me before we get to the introductions?" she raised an eyebrow at him with a slight glare.

Marcia couldn't help but smile a little when Cain started to struggle with his reaction to her. She shrugged as he asked for forgiveness, "Hey, it's okay. I get it," she truly did, too. Her fellow housemates were usually out to cause trouble at this time of night, though Marcia hadn't seen them do anything like this before. She, luckily, had missed any other nights that they ran around splashing blood in half vampires faces. It wasn't something that she wanted to be a part of in any way. Marcias smile slowly dissipated when Cain made eye contact with her again. She could see how sorry he was for going off on her like that. "I'm usually awake at this time of night, I just followed them out here because I thought we were going to have a little fun..." she made an apologetic face at him, "I should have guessed that their plans wouldn't be... anyway, I'm really sorry about them." She rolled her eyes at the thought of the recent behavior of the group.
"Yes, you shouldn't," Marcia smiled a once more as she agreed that she shouldn't assume things. "You know what assuming does... right?" she raised an eyebrow at smirked. She had heard a little joke about the word 'assume'. Although, Cain didn't seem like the type to know about it. But maybe he'd surprise her. Either way, this conversation needed some lightening up.
She thought back to the vulnerability he was referring to. The moment she had seen only minutes ago. Truthfully his vulnerable state just made her want to approach him even more, to make sure that he was okay. She brow furrowed together a little as she looked up at him. He was almost a whole head taller than her, and they were standing only a foot or so apart. She didn't back up though, she didn't care to. For someone who just had blood spattered all over them he smelled good. She couldn't tell what it was, but it was inviting.
Then he was offering his name and asking about the dueling club. "Cain. Hi," she gave a short nod and spun her wand around in her fingers, which was a relaxed place for her. "We are. We've also had plenty of classes together," she said this bluntly and flatly, as if this was uninteresting and unexciting information when really it was a wonder that they had spent seven years in one school together and never spoken.

Marcia didn't say anything else about her house and her friends. He has basically covered everything that needed covering. She almost stood up for them, the way he said that they didn't deserve kindness, but she chose not to. They hadn't done anything tonight that warranted her to stand up for them... sadly.
She snapped her finger and pointed at him as he got the joke about assuming, "excellent work! And that's what happened when you assumed that I was sticking around to torture you," her smile grew more mischievous at the comment. "But that's all over now. Right?" she squinted at him, as if threatening him to agree with her. She was only joking, of course.
She saw his lip turn into a small smile but she didn't ask why. He was probably just enjoying the fact that she wasn't going to hurt him. Granted, if she was in a dueling mood, she'd really have the advantage right now... but now, she was trying to make a friend here not goof around with her wand because she was getting antsy.
"I don't bother with Ravenclaws much," she joked, putting on an air of snobbery. "Yes, that's me. I can't decide if I'm impressed or concerned that you know my name," she joked once again before mentally chastising herself for being such a little tease. As he suggested that there may still be time for them to converse or something.
She raised an eyebrow at him and her smile grew wide. "You have cola hidden? That's just too adorable," she laughed, "a walk would be quite lovely, good sir!" Okay, now she was just being plain silly. But Eh, it was midnight!

Marcia was incredibly pleased with the way he was responding to her humor. He seemed to be trying to stick with the upbeat atmosphere that she was trying to create. He was doing a splendid job of it too, which was something she didn't expect at first. When Cain broke away from her, making his way toward the teachers desk in the unused classroom, Marcia stayed put and folded her arms across her chest. She raised an eyebrow and chuckled with delight as the glass bottles of cola came to him and he opened the bottles and returned to her, offering her one. She bit her lip, shaking her head a little as she took one. "Impressive. You must do this a lot."
She tipped the contents into her mouth and smiled as the sweet stuff danced over her tongue. "Eh, most Slytherins don't necessarily pick on Lions. Badgers yes, but with Lions its more about challenging each other than just plain bullying," she rolled her eyes as she explained the stereotypical Slytherin behavior. "Granted, from what I hear, the houses get along much better now then they used to," she added, hoping this would give her house a little redemption at least.
"As for the weirdness of knowing names... I guess it's not that weird," she winked before taking another sip of the cola. She got the impression that he didn't talk to other people much, especially not Slytherins. Maybe not even girls. But he was doing a pretty good job with conversing even if he didn't have much practice. Granted, for all she knew he partied every weekend in secret. The thought made her smile a little but she covered it with another sip.
Oh, so he wanted to get to know her a little better? Well, there was nothing wrong with that... hadn't she been wanting to get to know him for almost two years now? Anyway, her eyes widened in question as he started to ask about her, and he seemed to get lost in thought for a moment. But, not long after, he was continuing his question. "Well, I don't usually get to sleep until very late. I used to stay up all night waiting for my parents to get home and I guess the sleeping pattern kind of stuck," Marcia wasn't really a secretive person. Well, unless she didn't trust the person at all but she at least felt she could trust Cain a little bit.
"As for my hair..." she chuckled a little at the compliment about it being fascinating, "Let's just say it was a little experiment. The flames are non-consuming and it only acts up when my emotions are running high," she said, hence why her hair was just it's normal dark color for the time being.

She nodded with a little smile as he called her an 'adapted night owl'. The term worked, she supposed. It was sort of cool, but the reasons why it had happened weren't really the best thing. She didn't give those, however, as she listened to his vampirey explanation. "Potions are pretty amazing, huh? It must be weird though, not even needing to sleep. I always manage to fall asleep in class," she laughed even though it was entirely true. She stayed up all night... wouldn't she need to sleep during the day? Actually, she didn't even sleep that much during the day either... in fact, she barely slept at all. She hadn't really thought about that until now.
"It is pretty impressive. I didn't do it, though," she added, making sure he didn't think that she had those well practiced hands and concentration. She was a dueler, not a spell experimenter. She didn't have the patience for something like this either, definitely not. She twisted her arm a little, the metal one covered in make up, suddenly feeling overly conscious of the fact that it was there. Most of her friends didn't even know about that, except a chosen few. Still, she wasn't sure if she was quite ready to share that information with Cain yet.
Still, she was feeling rather open with him. Granted, Marcia has never really been much of a secret keeper. She likes things to be out in the open, out of the shadows. She's had enough secrets. She looked over at him, and his cheeks seemed to be turning red against his vampire pal skin. She lifted her own bottle, along with a raised eyebrow, and finished off her own cola. "So, now what do we do with these bottles?" she asked.

Marcia couldn't help but chuckle as he talked about the difficult nature of classes, potions in particular. Their Professors really were rather... intense. They expected a lot out of the students, and why not? They were seventh years after all. "Yeah... I don't know. I like potions. I think it makes sense to me," she explained with a modest shrugged. She wasn't afraid to be confident, but she didn't want him to think she was boasting about it either. Well, let him think what he wanted. She felt, however, that he wasn't going to be negative about her liking potions.
She watched as he threw his bottle into the air and did some fancy spell-ness in order to reduce it into nothing. The spell wasn't hard, really, but the way he pulled his wand out made it a bit showy. She laughed, nodding before tossing her own bottle into the air and mimicking his movements, "Reducto!" she cast, watching the bottle disappear. She turned to him with a wicked smile, a little bit of mockery in it, as she leaned back on both her hands.
At his words about making friends, needing this and wanting to see her again, Marcias eyes softened. He really wasn't what she expected... but she didn't really know what she had expected, after all. "Making friends is a great thing. I think we should make a tradition of this," she said, "midnight colas. What do you think?"
