A lot of thought had been put into this decision, mostly because it required Cordelia to be forthcoming and put herself out a lot more than she normally did. To go back to school was nerve-wracking, especially almost four years later. The paperwork had been signed though, and she was all set to begin classes once again as a Hogwarts student this summer. There was nothing particularly special about the program she had entered – it was merely advanced level classes of the basics, which she was hoping would eventually lead to being able to take high-level charms ones in a year or so. Going back to school would give her a little more structure than working all day at The Quibbler would. She also secretly hoped it would give her the excuse to start modifying modern cameras for use within magical zones, similar to how phones now functioned. She had been toying with it over the last half a year and was fairly certain she had figured out a way. But she needed a place to study it in greater depth. Hogwarts was perfect for that.
Her mum had made a great point about going back too; it was essentially like going to muggle uni. While she would be turning twenty-two right around when classes were to begin, it wasn’t like she was completely aged out either. The whole premise of the school now was to allow anyone that wanted to go back to school, to learn. She had obviously discussed it all with Eli as well, and it actually made sense with how close the school was to the animal reserve.
The only problem she had so far was trying to break the news to her job. The staff at The Quibbler, as Cordelia had discovered over the last several years, frankly, didn’t care most of the time. She had learned that they barely knew she was there most of the time, and her pay still came through even when she went weeks without being able to complete any assignments. Most of the time that was because what they had given her was impossible to begin with, but still.
Walking away from Hogwarts and back towards Hogsmeade, Cordelia decided to get something to eat. She had planned to wait until Eli was off of work to head back home together. With the way things were, she was starting to wonder if it was easier to rent a place in Hogsmeade instead. That would be a huge jump in literally everything, but their tiny room in Horizont Alley was, well, tiny. If she wasn’t working though, a change like that would be difficult to manage. Idling halfway between the Three Broomsticks and the pizza parlor, Cordelia stood in silence, trying to decide what she wanted to eat, almost as an afterthought to everything else.
