"Here's your drink miss." Victoire thanked the bartender and took her glass of firewhiskey. This was her second, no third glass? Keeping count didn't matter, it was about getting him off of her mind. She sipped her drink and stared at the assortment of drinks behind the counter. Teddy Lupin had been on her mind during her last task of chasing a no good wizard causing havoc with a muggle family outside of London. The wizard didn't even look anything like Teddy, but it was more of the snide comment he made of her after she caught him. She remembered how sweet Teddy was. How kind he was when they were alone at Hogwarts. She missed that ever since they broke it off several years ago. She finished her drink and motioned the bartender to get her another drink. Her goal tonight: Forget Teddy Lupin. Edward Remus Lupin. Forget his face. Forget his gorgeous hair that changes color. Forget the way he would look at Victoire. Just forget him. Once a week, Odette allowed herself to get absolutely, positively inebriated. She did this only once because she didn't want to drink any other night, her work was stressful during the week, and in Odette's world getting drunk once a week seemed like a healthy alternative to drinking a couple of alcoholic drinks every night for fun and relaxation. No, it was a once a week thing. Her incentive to get through work and be ready for the next week. Tonight was no different than her other regular nights, except for she was arriving a bit later.
Odette had been tied up at work that afternoon, having to stick around to do some presentation on the artifacts she and her team had discovered this last week in Mongolia. She had gotten her share done quickly and had just wanted to leave, but her teammates were less... competent when it came to speaking in front of the goblins. The entire time she had to stand up in front of the committee, most of her team was stuttering words and taking forever to get the presentation done and over with. Goblins were intimidating, but Odette was always frustrated that others weren't as good as speaking in presentations as she was.
Finally, she reached the Hog's Head in the village of Hogsmeade and with a skip she entered through the door. Odette made her way to the bar and sat down in her usual seat. "Beetle Berry Whiskey," she said, giving the bartender a very small smile. As she awaited her drink, she glanced to the left of her and took notice of the blonde witch who seemed to have already had quite a bit to drink. It wasn't often Odette was not the only lone female in the Hog's Head, and something in her told her to interact with this witch, which was also something Odette normally didn't do.
The bartender set the glass on the counter and Odette returned her attention to her drink. She sipped it, then noticed the witch beside her motion the bartender for another drink. Odette sat her glass down and finally looked at the witch. She looked her up and down. She was pretty enough. Blonde, of course. Familiar, too. There was something about her that just caught Odette's attention and made her want to talk to her, so finally she decided to speak. "So," she said, fiddling with her own glass in her hands. "What are you drinking?" She nodded at the new glass that the bartender set down in front of the blonde witch.

Victoire took a beating after the auror training program ended. She was so glad she passed, but the more invested she was in the ministry, the less she was able to have fun. Sure she had more days off, but not when her brother and sister were free. Bumping into either of her siblings or her cousins was a blessing in disguise. Even if she mixed her cousins' named around all the time (she likes to ignore the one time she confused Albus with Rose), she started to miss their company more and more. When Victoire received a new glass of firewhiskey, a body had sat next to her. She wasn't used to being approached in bars much, then again, she stuck to the Three Broomsticks where students flocked. Her hazel eyes turned to the new unfamiliar face. Brunette, gorgeous eyes, and a wonderful body. Even though Victoire didn't swing that way, she knew a beautiful woman when she saw one. The blonde looked at her drink, squinting at the drink itself. "Regret," she said in a low, raspy voice. "And yourself?" WORDS: 182 TAGS: @odette NOTES: that was the best response i could think of

When the blonde witch finally turned to face Odette, she let out a little chuckle. So that was why Odette was so drawn to her. Odette had traveled around the world enough in her job as a curse breaker to know a veela, or at least a half or something, when she saw one. Odette considered herself to be bisexual, as she believed in leading with love and attraction more than anything. The witch was beautiful, but Odette could tell why.
"Regret," the witched eventually replied. So obviously, something was bothering her. Odette looked back at her own glass and picked it up. "Beetle Berry Whiskey," she answered. She held it up, as if to silently toast, then took a sip. Upon setting the glass down, she decided to take a shot in the dark. "May I ask why you are indulging in regret this evening?" She asked, her tone confident. Odette had an air about her that screamed self-confidence, and she usually said things with a "matter of fact" tone.

Victoire couldn't remember the last time someone asked how she was doing or was even sort of concerned for her well-being. "It's been four years," she sipped her drink, eyes back on her drink, "since he and I were over. He disappeared two years ago.. I think." She took another sip, "I shouldn't still think about him. It's over between us. It's not like he and I knew each other growing up or anything." The sarcasm in her voice was noticeable. "I work for the ministry, I can find a dark wizard if you told me what his favorite color was, but I can't even find my ex-boyfriend." The blonde finished her drink and motioned the bartender for another. "How is that whiskey? I just stick to the firewhiskey around here. The muggles have better drinks at their bars." She put her empty glass next to the several other empty glasses in a neat line. "I bet he's married and with two kids now. He would make such a great father." Victoire's shoulder slouched and she looked back at her new friend. "The name's -hic-Victoire. Victoire Weasley," she pulled out her hand, "And yours?" Odette watched the blonde witch as she spoke, an eyebrow raised in curiosity. "I shouldn't still think about him," she managed to get out. Odette nodded once, sipping her own whiskey once more. She should have figured it was about a boy. Oh, not just a boy - an ex-boyfriend. This would be interesting.
Odette had to admit the blonde could handle her liquor well. She nodded in approval this time. "This whiskey?" She asked, holding up her own glass. "Delicious, actually," Odette said, sipping it again. "You should try it," she raised her eyebrows, which was something she normally did when she thought highly of her own opinion. "I bet he's married and with two kids now. He would make such a great father." Geez, was this girl hung up on this guy. Odette let her mind wander for a moment, picturing what this guy must look like to land a beauty like the blonde. And why on Earth he gave her up.
The blonde introduced herself and held out her hand, and then Odette realized why she had looked a little familiar. She was a Weasley. Odette remembered her from school. After all, it was hard not to know the Weasleys and the Potters. Odette accepted Victoire's hand with her own and gave it a gentle shake. "Odette," she said. "Odette Greyback." Odette normally went just by her legally changed name, so as the word would spread of a young Greyback lady. She wanted it to be easy for Greyback himself to find her one day. However, she figured she would mention her old name in hopes of jogging the Weasley's memory tonight. "Formerly Daley," she added, sipping her whiskey.

"Maybe I will try it." As the bartender put another glass of firewhiskey in front of Victoire, she put her hand out to stop him. "I'll have what she's having too. But keep the firewhiskeys coming. Put it on the Ministry's -hic-tab." Victoire gave the bartender a charming smile as he left to get her another drink. "Whatever helps me forget him, I'll take it." Victoire's eyes focused onto the woman sitting beside her. Odette.. why did that sounds familiar? She mentally went through a list of friends, one-nighters, and people she crossed once or twice in the ministry. "The only Odette I remember was a Ravenclaw. I was prefect so I knew all the younger Ravenclaws. Was that you?" Victoire finished her firewhiskey just as the new drink came. "Greyback... there are a number or you, right?" Odette smirked as Victoire asked the bartender for a Beetle Berry and firewhiskey. The girl seemed to know her licquor. She sighed when the blonde asked if she had been the Ravenclaw she had in mind. "I was in Ravenclaw," she nodded with a slight shrug of the shoulder. "I believe I vaguely remember you as prefect, as well," she said. Odette had never been one to disobey school rules, so she had never really had to interact with any of the prefects much. She actually kept to herself more often than not back in school.
"Greyback... there are a number or you, right?" At this, Odette snatched her glass and downed the rest of the whiskey, then motioned for another one - quickly. As the bartender gave her another, Odette shrugged. "If there are, I don't know them" she said simply. "I really have no interest in knowing them, either." She took a gulp of the whiskey. "I don't necessarily considering Greyback family," she said, her lips curling in a wicked smirk.
With a sigh, Odette relaxed herself a little. She had a drink in hand and that was all that mattered. "So," she said, her glass in hand. "Who's the guy?" She figured she didn't have to beat around the bush. The blonde seemed blunt enough, so Odette figured she would be too.

Victoire started on the new drink, taking a cautious sip. "Damn, this is good." She motioned for the bartender, "Another please." She sipped again and grinned at her right guess. "That's alright. I had a certain guy on my mind as a prefect. That and annoying -hic-cousins." She was lucky she didn't go further to being head girl when the time came. Her cousins were almost all in Hogwarts by that time and Victoire had other plans. The blonde quickly noticed the change in her new friend as she mentioned the Greyback family. "Shit, sorry I asked. -hic-I will say what your family did or didn't do doesn't mean much now." Victoire took another sip of her drink. Here she was sitting next to the girl whose father attacked hers some number of years ago. "Time have changed since -hic-then." Victoire finished her drink at Odette's mention of the guy she was drinking over. "Teddy. Teddy Lupin. He and I were together for - god it seemed like forever. And then it was over." She looked down at her drink. "I don't know why it ended the way it did, but it did. Several years later, I still can't get over it." The blonde finished her drink and looked over at her former Ravenclaw housemate. "I will say I've had some great one-night stands thanks to nights like these at this place." She laughed to hopefully lighten the mood. WORDS: 238 TAGS: @odette NOTES: hope odette likes drunken veela |

"Ah, yes," Odette said before taking a drink. "I know about your family," she pointed at Victoire with her glass. "Quite a few of you, there are," her eyebrows raised at the thought of having such a large family as she took another drink. As of her fourth year, it was just Odette and her grandparents. The only other person ever being present was her mother, whom Greyback murdered. Odette had never been a part of a big family and she highly doubted she ever would.
Odette was unaware that the man who had fathered her had attacked the blonde witch's father. In fact, Odette was clueless as to exactly just how many he had hurt that were related to people she worked and interacted with on a daily basis. None of it really mattered to her, though. She set her drink down, twirling the glass as she normally did when she got to thinking. "Well, he killed my mum, so," Odette shrugged as she spoke, as if the topic had been a subject she mentioned often and was sick about relaying by now. "That's the only reason I want to kill him." She finished, simply. She left no doubt in her tone. Odette meant every word.
At the mention of the guy's name, Odette racked her brain. The name was only vaguely familiar. She couldn't recall ever meeting someone named Teddy. "Well," Odette began, looking at Victoire with a slightly amused expression. "How did it end?" She asked, curiosity getting the best of her. "I will say I've had some great one-night stands thanks to nights like these at this place." At this, Odette held up her half empty glass as if to toast. "I'll drink to that," she agreed with a smirk, downing the rest of her drink.
