Annelise walked into the Great Hall slowly and looked around. A sense of foreboding was filling her, a deep darkness that she couldn't push away on her own. She yearned to release it, but she didn't know how. She looked at all her fellow students, many of which were smiling and laughing with one another. Normally that was her. She took great pleasure in laughing, joking, teasing with other people- particularly her friends and fellow Gryffindors- but she couldn't find the energy. Maybe she'd be more in the mood later.
Slowly she ambled down the Gryffindor table until she found an empty section and sat down. She wasn't really wanting to be alone at the moment, but she also didn't have the energy to go elsewhere. What was going on with her? She glanced at the food in front of her and half-heartedly served herself a heap of something from some of the dishes nearby. She didn't even care enough to figure out what it was. She took a small bite and then started playing with her food, rather than eating it as she stared out the windows of the Great Hall. It was too dark to see anything, but that wasn't what she was trying for. She was lost in thought. Why was her mood so dark today? It was completely out of character and she was a little worried about it.

@annelise breakfast. it was awesome. there wasn't a time of day that casey liked better. well okay he liked lunch and dinner just as much but who wouldn't love the food in this place. he was going to cry the day he realised that he was going to have to make his own food and wasn't going to have it just appear in front of him every morning like it had every day for the last seven years. actually the last of his whole life. his mother was one who didn't like anyone going without food. she'd have invited a stranger into their house if she'd have thought they were hungry. when he finished his second plate he looked up and saw anna. she was just sitting there. which wasn't like her. no smile on her face no talking to her house mates or anyone else for that matter. he frowned slightly, watched his plate vanish from in front of him and he moved to stand up. he'd known her for almost as long as he'd known james. though they weren't as close and they loved to argue with each other. it was almost habit. getting up from his spot at the table he walked down to her, tapped his fingers on the top of her head and dropped onto the bench next to her. "did your cat eat your homework or did someone steal your happy potions this morning?" he said with a grin, moving to nudge his shoulder a little against hers.

Anna jumped slightly when she felt someone drum their fingers lightly on her hair before plopping down beside her. Spinning around, she rolled her eyes when she saw who it was. Casey was a tease, no doubt about it. So what was he doing now? Couldn't he tell that she wasn't in the mood for this? Maybe not, though. They did barely know each other, after all. Still, a part of her was annoyed that he came over to talk, but the other part was relieved. Casey might actually be able to pull her out of this strange mood that she was in.
She scrunched her nose and stuck her tongue out at him. "I don't have a cat, as you very well know ... and I'm too bad at potions to have any, no matter what time of day it is. I don't know what you're talking about," Anna responded sassily as she nudged him back and forced herself to take another bite of her food. Surprisingly enough, this silly conversation was already starting to improve her dark mood.

@annelise "I don't have a cat, as you very well know ... and I'm too bad at potions to have any, no matter what time of day it is. I don't know what you're talking about," he shrugged and grinned a little. "so borrow one. it'll help if it's actually eaten your homework when you spin that story to the teachers" he said as he leaned his arms on the table before him. he ran his hand through his dark hair as he glanced around the table and thought about what to eat. that was the problem. there was so much food. "well just throw things into a cauldron and see what turns out. if you drink it and you don't die then it was probably a good one" he said with a teasing grin as he looked back at molly.

Anna turned to Casey, feigning offense as she punched his shoulder lightly. "I'll have you know that I don't need to borrow a cat. My homework is perfectly ready for class, so I won't need to 'spin any stories' to my teachers about it," she rolled her eyes and then focused on the food in front of her. As good as Casey was at lightening her mood, she figured that she might want to focus more on her food. After all, if she didn't eat now, she would definitely be hungry later.
She grimaced at his comment about potions. How she hated going to that class ... and the subject alone was dreadful as well. It was basically pure torture. "I don't think that's a good idea. Here, how about if you ever have someone that you want to knock off, then come to me for a potion. I'll do my best to make a nice, good potion, and you can give it to them. Then, when everything goes wrong, you can thank me and then forbid me from ever making another potion again,. How does that sound?" Anna suggested, only partially teasing. She really was that bad at potions.
Still, she had to admit that she was happier now. She looked at Casey quickly and smiled. Though they loved to fight and argue with one another, she was inwardly glad that he came over to talk with her. If he hadn't, she probably would have been quite upset for the rest of the day. He was a good friend.
