The Transfiguration classroom was one of the largest in the castle, owing to the nature of the magic practiced within. This made it an ideal training room after hours, particularly since one could use Transfiguration spells to create practice aids without arousing suspicion from the more sensitive types that might notice if something of that nature had been used elsewhere in the castle.
So Theo often snuck his way to this classroom specifically when training. Currently, he was dressed down to a pair of shorts and a matching black muscle shirt, with Muggle bandages wrapping his fists and ankles. He'd transfigured a desk into a sandbag for punching and kicking practice, which he'd been doing for about fifteen minutes now. A light sheen of sweat covered his body, but he didn't slow down. He had almost two hours of working out planned for the night here, and there were very few people who would actually interrupt him. The doorway was enchanted so as not to give away the light of the torches within the classroom, and there was no reason for anyone to come check this room. Only three people really stood a chance of finding him right now. One was Desirae Rousseau, who always seemed to be able to find someone she went looking for, no matter where they were. The second was Abigail Shackebolt, who existed on the exact same wavelength as Theo. The two of them just seemed to be able to find one another on instinct. It was...certainly odd, thought not at all unpleasant. As long as she never found her way into something she didn't need to know about, anyway.
The third would be the one person who'd been raised the same way as Theo. The one who would objectively assess training locations within the castle the same way he had. And though she might be less interested in improving herself than he was, Theo had little doubt that his younger sister took time to maintain the strength she had built up over the years.
She might not like to be challenged or to improve herself with real experience the way Theo did, but Viovinnia loved power too much to lose even a little bit of what she'd built up over the years.

It was after supper time. Vioinnia had indulged herself in her usual hearty meal and had returned to the Common Room with one thing on her mind: having a little training session. Vi Nott had been raised, along with her older brother, to not only fight and be skilled with a wand but also in physical combat. Vi had always trained under a different instructor than her brother, a female, but she matched him in most skills. Except, of course, his natural and stronger male strength, his abilities in potions, and his desire to challenge himself the way he does. Now, Vi liked a challenge - if it was one she knew she could win. The youngest Nott child had always hated being wrong. She had to come out on top in everything she ever put herself up to, no matter what. The only person she was never willing to best? Her brother.
Viovinnia walked through the Common Room and to the girls' dormitory. She paced herself as she changed out of her school uniform and into black yoga pants and a matching black tank top. She put her robe back on over her shoulders and walked back through and out of the Common Room. The halls weren't entirely deserted, but not many students were still out and those she did see were in pairs. Vi smirked to herself. Weaklings. That's all they were. She liked walking the halls alone in search for a room to train in, it made her look superior to those who walked in fear in pairs.
The Slytherin continued to search through floors for a deserted room. So far she had had no so luck as most were reserved for club meetings or the professors still remained inside. Finally, her search came to an end when she entered the almost always deserted Transfiguration classroom. She pushed open the door and was only slightly surprised to see her brother in the room doing the exact same thing she had set out to do.
Keeping a very nonchalant look about her as she stepped further into the room. At last she stood just a few feet away from her brother and she folded her arms across her chest. "As always great minds think alike, I see," she allowed a smirk to appear on he face as she finally faced her brother for one of the first times since the holidays.

Speak of the devil, and she shall appear, apparently.
As Theo had predicted, he'd been found by one of three girls. In this case, his younger sister. Naturally, he noticed her entrance, but he didn't pause in his workout. He'd not seen her much since they had ridden the scarlet train back to Hogwarts after returning to civilization (and he was still a bit miffed that Abby had successfully brought them back, he'd been so sure she would stay...). This wasn't that unusual for the siblings—they had been raised oddly, and were rarely worried about one another or paid much attention to each other, despite being in the same house, on the same side, and siblings. An unusual childhood was to blame for the reason they treated one another more like coworkers than family. Of course, from Theo's point of view, Vi was special—even back when they'd both been training nonstop to improve themselves, when they were forced to spar, magically or physically, he never felt excitement. He never really looked forward to it. He never looked for a reason to battle or tried to start one.
Vi was one of the strongest people in the school. Few really understood how dangerous she really was, but the fact remained that she had been trained just as extensively as Theo had. She was just as capable of a duelist as he was, just as skilled in assassination arts, and she liked being in control much more than Theo himself. She held a similar disdain for the Unforgiveable Curses as he did, but Theo was quite certain his sister could produce a stronger Imperius Curse than he could, and his was not weak by any means. Despite all that, he had absolutely no desire to fight her. She could give him more of a challenge than almost any student in the school, but her alone he had no interest in testing himself against. That was, in Theo's mind, a pretty big sign of their sibling relationship. Nobody else got that treatment except their parents. Vi, Mother, and Father were important to Theo, as much as anyone could be important to him.
He grinned at her words, reaching out with both hands to stop the sandbag's swinging, then turned to his sister. “That, or old habits simply die hard. Hello, Sister Dear.” He was somewhat curious how her own life was going—he knew Vi's fiance was here in Hogwarts as well, though unlike Rory, he'd heard nothing of whatever-his-name-is refusing the marriage contract. Theo still wasn't sure who it even was, he just knew the kid was so weak he actively avoided Vi whenever possible, and his sister was disgusted with the very thought of him. Why should Theo bother to remember the name of such a worthless individual? Instead, he focused more on his sister's life. They hadn't spoken in awhile, and surely she had things she did enjoy about Hogwarts. He certainly did—though whether his sister had found as many interesting wizards as he had witches was debatable. Certainly, few had captured his attention for a good fight, and some thath ad weren't purebloods, which offended his sister moreso than himself. “So, how is my adorable little sister? Found something here to hold your attention yet?”

Viovinnia and her brother had been raised quite differently than most siblings. All their life, they had been taught to not attach to other human beings. Vi loved her brother but "sibling love" for the Nott siblings didn't extend much farther than mutual respect. If the two were to ever get into a battle together with someone, it was every man for himself and if something happened to the other they had to be able to not dwell on it. And so developed a more colleague type of relationship. But Vi was like that with everyone she knew; not attached and very indifferent to their presence in her life. But Theo was at least respected by Vi, unlike many others.
The blonde continued to smirk when her brother spoke. The two had many similarities as far as their strength and several interests, but they also differed as well. Such as Viovinnia had happened to figure out that her brother had been spending a bit of time with a Gryffindor girl, the old Minister's daguther if she was correct. Vi would never have been caught dead with such a person. Viovinnia was much more of a stickler for the blood purity thing than her brother. It was perhaps their biggest difference between the two of them, but Vi knew how strong and intelligent her brother could be and she wouldn't let his views on blood affect her personal opinion of him.
Viovinnia shrugged. "Not yet," she let out an exasperated sigh. "The curriculum is really the only thing that has caught my eye. Nothing too shiny as of right now." She folded her arms across her chest and studied the room around them before looking back at her brother. "What about you, brother dearest? I've heard a certain Gryffindor has been occupying some of your time..." She raised an eyebrow at her brother. Vi had heard a rumor that her brother had been spotted crawling out of the rubble of the Astronomy tower with the Gryffindor girl but as usual had not paid much attention to it, as it was a rumor. Best to go straight to the source.

Theo smirked at his sister’s sigh. Boredom tended to irk her. And while being put entirely out of one’s element was good for development, cutting Vi off from many of those she held under her carefully-manicured thumbnail…well. It would take time for her to take control of enough people to keep herself amused again. Theo took delight in being challenged. Vi took delight in not being challenged. She saw herself as a queen—and given her pedigree, why shouldn’t she? Theo was, after all, a king. They were royalty, or as close to it as wizards could be—and they knew it. But others, it seemed, did not. Theo found that to be an interesting challenge, but his sister seemed more annoyed than anything. Still, she would adapt and find her stride. She always did, just as he did. That was why they were the best, what separated them from the rank and file purebloods who insisted they were better without ever backing it up.
“What about you, brother dearest? I've heard a certain Gryffindor has been occupying some of your time...”
Theo paused for a moment, looking thoughtful. Yes, he supposed he did favor Abigail Shacklebolt among his playthings at school rather heavily—moreso, in fact, than he’d favored any girl before. But no other girl had ever been on his wavelength before. “There are a number of students that occupy my time. But I suppose you refer to Shacklebolt, sister dear?” He grinned at his sister then. Vi had never seemed as interested in such physical activities, or at least had not deigned to let him know. He would not be surprised to learn that she used it as a tool of control, whether she held any personal interest in it or the other party involved—regardless of gender. He would certainly do as much, if necessary, though Theo was more interested in the challenge of such things. His mind wandered briefly to a mountain cabin.
“But this is surprising. I thought you would approve—the Shacklebolt line is as pure as one could hope for. Or do you consider her tainted merely by her father’s actions?” Sometimes, purebloods got like that. Particularly those who liked to wear the mantle of superiority they had not earned. It was a belief that one could simply exclude certain purebloods for their beliefs—Blood-Traitors, they called them. Vi was not like most—she had earned her pride in her blood, and looked down upon all the weak, traitors or not. And so Theo had asked her opinion, rather than brushing the thought aside. “It’s hard to find people like us. She’s got that same…animal ferocity, that sense of predator about her that you and I have. It’s rare to find such among the rabble.”

It was true, not a soul had really caught Vi's eyes just yet. But Vi had never really found herself attracted to anyone other than for power. Which was probably why she fancied the idea of her fiancé's older brother Raleigh. The eldest Flint looked strong, was a pureblood, and had the last name of a wealthy, powerful family. It was no surprise Vi found him more intriguing than the Flint she was unfortunately betrothed to (a much weaker, vulnerable Ravenclaw.) But Vi had known Raleigh for years, even before she and her brother had come to Hogwarts. So she wouldn't count him among the desirable Hogwarts students anyway.
When her brother finally answered her question, Vi allowed a small smirk as she nodded at him. She was indeed referring to one of the Shacklebolt twins. This particular one, Abigail, she knew made more of a spectacle of herself more than her twin did as far as Viovinnia could tell. In that right, she supposed she shouldn't be surprised that she had caught the attention of her older brother. The Gryffindor was often hard to ignore when she was in a room.
Viovinnia put her hands back her back as she began to walk thoughtfully around the room. "Not her father's actions per se," she paused, her eyes making a round across the room before looking back at her brother. "But rather her own." She walked across the room again to stand once more near her brother. "I'm not a fan of the company she keeps." A smirk crossed her face though it faded slowly to a thin, straight line as she heard what her brother had to say. Vi was always very set in her beliefs, but she respected her brother a great deal and always listened to what he had to say: even if it sounded a little far-fetched at first. "Really?" She raised an eyebrow, intrigued to know that she shared the same instinct as this Gryffindor girl. "Must not work too well if she chose to get close to you." The smirk slowly appeared once again.

Ah, it was hard to explain to his sister what ‘animal magnetism’ really was. She would know it the instant she felt it, but until then…well. It was hard to describe that certainty of mutual attraction, that part where you knew they were interested in you, you were interested in them, and they knew all of it too. Theo thought he’d felt that before, but Abby had shown him a whole new level to it that made him question if he really ever had known what it meant. He knew it now though, that was for certain. Vi chose to point out that it wasn’t Abby’s actions, but her choice of friends, that was causing concern. Theo grinned. His sister was among the few Purebloods who actually did have the right to look down on lesser bloods. She was like him: she was capable of challenging Muggles on their own terms, not just taking them on in an area they could not compete in. She had the right of judgment.
Then she decided to take a crack at him. They might not have been raised normal, but at the end of the day, they were still siblings, and they still had a few of those dynamics. “Oh, my sweet little sister,” Theo said with a grin, “believe it or not, it is possible for me to attract attention beyond my good looks.” Not that the looks hurt, mind. If the responses of Abby, Desirae, and a dozen witches around the castle were any indication, good looks were quite helpful. The aura of confidence that Theo projected and his tendency to grin also made him appear friendlier than his sister, who was not as easily amused or as interested in poking others. He was a curious dragon, happy to poke at the things in his domain; she was a proud stingray, allowing others to pass by but stinging any who attracted her ire. So even though they were raised so similarly, Theo was a more approachable person…or at least had the appearance of one. His sister was a better assassin, most likely; she loved competition as much as Theo, but she would rather win where Theo would rather have a good challenge.
He shrugged. “It’s hard to explain, really. I can’t make you understand with words, but I can promise—if you ever experience it, you’ll know. Especially you, dear sister. You’re like me, we don’t do connections. So when you connect with someone instantly, there’s no mistaking it for anything else.”
Theo smirked again. “I’d drop good Galleons to see the expression on your face when it finally happens.”

The younger Nott folded her arms across her chest, still smirking, but rolled her eyes at her brother. As different as they were from a regular pair of siblings, Viovinnia still enjoyed a good taunting game here and there. It was probably the most in depth way that the two would go in showing that they did appreciate the other's existance. Vi would never pass up a chance to poke fun at her brother. He was, after all, one of the few she really, truly spoke to and therefore knew Vi on a deeper level than others. Theodorus was, after all, the male version of what Vi would have been.
When her brother spoke of connections, Viovinnia stayed quiet. Her right eyebrow was slightly raised and her face was set in a somewhat blank stare as she listened to what he had to say. It was a little odd to hear her brother talk about such connections but as he attempted to explain it, the idea... almost didn't seem as foreign as she had thought. A curly, blonde head of hair came to mind. Not that she had felt some sort of fairytale connection to the Gryffindor who had appeared outside the Slytherin common room but she had to admit, she had found him more intriguing than any other human she could remember.
Viovinnia's eyes narrowed into a glare at Theo's last comment. "Very funny," she mocked him, sarcastically. Vi shook her head a bit, waving a hand dismissively. "I really can't see myself being bothered with such relations." She finally shrugged, looking back at her brother. "I've far more important things to worry about, I fear. Besides - what's the use in searching for people like us when we are, clearly, some of the best already?" She smirked. As sound as Vi felt in her believes, she would never see that she was often naive in the way she thought.

Theo grinned at his sister’s annoyed response. But, as usual, neither of them were emotional enough to be bothered by simple jabs at each other—though they were among the few that either would listen to, those that had proven their strength. He listened to her words with attention and respect that was not reflected by his relaxed attitude.
At her question, he shrugged. “I seek out people that can challenge me, sweet sister. After all, what fun is life without a challenge? If I am already the best, have I fulfilled my purpose already? There must always be new heights to reach, new goals to realize. If I must seek them out to discover them, so be it, but I will not allow my strength to wane because there is no challenge to be had to my limited knowledge.” He could not, would not, accept less than the best. And how could he be certain of the best until he had met everything the world could throw at him, and emerged from the other side stronger for it?
“Besides, I did not seek out this challenge in particular—it simply occurred, and got my attention, and kept it. True, I was not interested in finding an individual like myself, and naturally we will be parted in the future—but now I’ve experienced such a thing, I find I cannot regret it. As I expect you will discover for yourself. Power calls to power. Perhaps it will not be here, but one day you will find someone who meets your gaze with their own, and you will understand every word.”
He grinned. “So just in case you decide to keep it a secret from me in the future, I’ll say it now—I told you so.”

Though the Nott siblings were the same in many ways, they both differed in their views of besting themselves. While Theo explained that he always seeking a challenge to further test his strengths, Viovinnia believed she didn't need any more improvement. At least not as far as strength or her quality over others. No, she didn't much like challenges as much as her brother did. She could respect his view, but she herself just could not find the need to do that herself. "Hm," Vi mused, walked over around her brother to take a look at some of the trinkets on a shelf behind him. "Well, I guess I suppose I see why you would want to humor others." She smirked. Whil Vi held no personal ties to her brother, she knew he would best any person who dared challenge him.
Vi picked up a small round, globe like trinket that fit in her hand as she listened to her brother talk. The way he described such a thing just happening, the more sense she was able to see behind her fascination toward the Gryffindor boy herself. Though she could not see him matching her in power. She looked up at her brother as he wore the grin, getting ahead of himself by saying "he told her so." She simply smirked. "I wouldn't count on that, brother dearest."

Vi's disinterest in a challenge was something Theo would never understand. She strove for perfection, as much as he did, and she liked proving her superiority and skill, as he did—but she was content with simply being the best to her knowledge. Theo wanted to be the best to anyone's knowledge. He didn't understand how people could enjoy their lives being static. It just didn't make sense to him. But then, if everyone were like him, life would get boring quickly, he supposed. He smirked when Vi commented that she saw why he would humor others. They weren't conventional siblings, from what he'd seen since coming to Hogwarts, but considering people seemed closer across the board than they were used to, the relationship was still relatively the same. No desire to fight each other, faith in their abilities...they wouldn't want to see each other fall.
Not that it would bother them terribly, but, you know. If they had the choice.
“I wouldn't count on that, brother dearest.”
Theo mirrored her smirk, but didn't pursue the subject. Either it would happen or it would not. Though part of him hoped it would. Vi didn't like the idea of an equal—someone with as much a hold on her as she had on them. And she was dismissive of the benefits of having someone around who was on the same wavelength. He couldn't blame her—he'd have been just as dismissive, before he met Abby, of being around someone you didn't need words for. “We'll see, sweet sister. In the meantime—have you had any fun? I know you're ignoring the rules—” said rules being, naturally, meant for people who couldn't take care of themselves, which the Nott siblings were decidedly not “—but have you actually done anything amusing so far?”

Vi liked to think that she was already better than the people around her. Sure, there was always room for improvement as far as physical abilities and knowledge but she never liked when people challenged her for in Vi's eyes, there was nothing to challenge. She believed she was the best and that she could not be bested, so why waste her breath?
Viovinnia let out a sarcastic chuckle when her brother asked her if she had done anything amusing. Amusing? At Hogwarts? It was a funny idea. "Hardly," she let out a exasperated sigh. "Everyone here is far too boring." Her mind tried desperately not to wander to the Gryffindor boy. "I do have the great honor, however, of meeting for lunch every Sunday with my betrothed." She forced a sarcastic smirk. Vi wasn't exactly thrilled about her engaged marriage to River Flint, for she believed he was far too weak for her. But Vi was not one to disappoint her family.

Vi's irritation was practically palpable. Theo knew she despised her fiance. He thought it was funny—she liked to dominate others, and he was easy to dominate. She herself probably didn't know why she wasn't interested. She wouldn't like anyone who stood up to her any more. Oh yes, he was certainly looking forward to saying he'd told her so. She didn't understand yet, not the way he did.
She needed someone who got her. Not someone who agreed. Not someone who was similar. Someone who meshed perfectly and accepted her.
But he knew it was something she had to experience to understand. He wouldn't have known either, before he met Abby. So instead, he laughed out loud. “I know the Potters have a daughter. Mayhaps she'd be willing to take your fiance off your hands? After all, if she's like enough to her brother, it shouldn't be a problem.” Not that he particularly cared one way or the other about his now-broken marriage contract. Aurora had been an acceptable spouse, and they even got along reasonably well. She'd never put up a fuss before, because Theo was hardly the worst choice for an arranged marriage. He was not unnecessarily cruel, nor violent, nor strict about adhering to purist beliefs, which had put him over most of the other pureblood male heirs in her eyes.
But Theo also knew that Aurora wanted to be loved. And he didn't love her. So it had honestly not come as a surprise to learn that she'd torn herself away from her family. It had been more surprising to learn that she'd taken Andromeda, which spared him from having to tolerate that particular harpy of a girl for the rest of his life, but frankly, most surprising of all was that it had taken her so long to do it.
He eyed his sister, wondering if she would be contracted out to assassinations in the near future. His father had hinted that he would, and it only made sense that she would as well. She was just as trained, and though she had much less experience than he did, due to his greater enthusiasm for fighting, she was also a lot more efficient at killing for the same reason—she never saw the need to leave an enemy alive, or face them in a fair fight, when she could finish them and have done with it.
So he would ask. “Have Father or Mother contacted you? They have been suspiciously silent since our arrival at Hogwarts. I wonder if they suspect the mail being searched.”
