@alice && @philiplongbottom jayden opened his eyes quickly, the dream vanishing from his head as soon as his eyes settled on the wall next to his bed. he sat up quickly though, pressing his fingers into his eyes and he made to pull the duvet up to his chin with his other hand. the attack on him, the kidnapping and everything that had happened were still weighing on his mind. he chewed his lip as he shifted his weight back against the head of his bed and he let out a breath. he wasn't used to not being able to sleep. it was a foreign concept to him one that had only started in the last few months. though he still managed to get a few decent hours of sleep in a night it wasn't enough for him. jay was a creature of habit and all his life he had needed as much sleep as he could possibly get. it was a running joke in his family that if he was an animal he'd have been a bear. he ran his hand through his hair and he chewed his lip, let the duvet go and he climbed out of bed. he grabbed his hoodie that was hanging over the end of the four poster bed and pulled it over his head ,pulled open his door quietly and made his way down the all and into the kitchen. he hoped he hadn't woken anyone up when he'd walked past their rooms, after all it was the middle of the night. he moved to poke the big fireplace in the room, wanting the warmth and also the light from it to see what he was doing. moving to the cupboard he grabbed a bag of chips from the shelf, they seemed to be his midnight snack of choice and he moved to sit down on one of the kitchen chairs, opened the bag and ate a few of the chips. tipping back his chair lightly he reached to get a butter beer, thinking the drink would go nice with the chips and he looked at the fire, watched the flames flicker and found himself getting pulled into them as he had done all his life. if he wanted to be able to drift off into his thoughts he stared at fire. something about it gave his mind the chance to think. he was pulled into thoughts of what had happened at the school, the people who had died. the people who had been hurt. it had been horrible. he swallowed at the thoughts that kept flooding his head, oblivious to who was coming in and out of the room.

Sleep. Who needed it. Phil hadn't gone to bed yet. Yeah, he wanted to, he was so tired. But he couldn't, not yet. He had been tracking down who ever it was that attacked Jayden. He was determined to make them pay for what they did to his little brother. Going through his notes for the twelfth time that night, and nothing new was coming up. So when he heard footsteps outside his door, he was eager for a break.
Down the stairs and into the kitchen, Phil followed Jayden. Jayden stopped at a chair next to the fire, a bag a chips and a bottle of butter beer in his hands. While that was a good midnight snack, Phil wanted something different. So hot chocolate and toast was made. He plopped down on the floor in front of Jayden, and began to dip the crispy bread into the warm liquid.
After a few bites, Jayden still hadn't even recognized Phil was in the room. So Phil moved behind his brother and then got right next to his ear.
"Jayden, this is your brother speaking, we haven't spoken in a while." he said in his creepiest whisper.

Leave it to the fireball Quinn to wake Alice up out of a dead sleep.
Quinn the Pygmy Puff was very much a fiesty little furball. Always had to make her presence known, always had to let others know just how tough she was. She must have been trying to size up to Oscar or Fizzio and ended up jumping on Alice's face, resulting in Alice now being awake. After getting up and walking Quinn over to the other side of her room where she kept a small box for Fizzio and Quinn to sleep, Alice crawled back into bed and pulled the blankets up to her shoulders. As she sat there in the dark of her room, Oscar curled up at her feet, Alice could not stop thinking about everything that had occurred in her life lately. The biggest obstacle being that her younger brother had been attacked... and Alice was angry. When Alice got to thinking about how Jayden had been attacked, she couldn't stop thinking about how she wanted revenge. She wanted that person brought to justice.
Alice was laying on her side when she heard footsteps in the hallway outside of her bedroom. She heard more footsteps after a few more minutes and that was when her curiosity got the best of her. Quietly, Alice got out of bed and exited her room heading into the kitchen which is where it sounded like the footsteps had gone. When she entered into the dark room, she couldn't hold back the small smile that appeared on her face at the sight of both of her brothers near the fire.
Quietly once again, Alice walked further into the kitchen. She stood only feet behind both of her brothers and folded her arms across her chest. "Careful, Jay," she finally spoke out loud. "You've got a monster behind you."

@alice && @philiplongbottom "Jayden, this is your brother speaking, we haven't spoken in a while." jayden jumped a mile."holy bajebus!!" he almsot screamed as he felt his face go white and he reached for a wand that wasn't in his back pocket as he leapt from the chair, his heart thumping so much he thought that it was in the back of his throat and he turned to face the culprit of the noise and he tried to punch phil in the shoulder. "not cool!" he said as he rested a hand over his heart and sagged against the table. okay so his brother had probably tried to be funny but sneaking up on someone who had been attacked after being sneaked up on probably wasn't the smartest idea. he heard alice and looked up and nodded. "yeah .. i got it. thanks alice" he said as he breathed out and felt his heart slowing a little. he moved to drop back into the chair her had been occupying and he watched his siblings for a moment. "aren't you two normally dead to the world by now?" he asked as he reached into the bag of chips and pulled out a few of them to munch on. now that he knew they were there he was glad for the company, a little surprised that alice had joined him and phil but glad she had. he felt they had been getting closer as siblings the last few months and he was glad it still seemed so.

Jayden seemed to jump out of his seat ten feet into the air. At the same time Phil's head snapped around in surprise when he heard Alice's voice behind him. Figures he would get scared as well. He turned back to Jayden and instantly felt bad for scaring him. His little brother's face was white and his eyes were wide. Yeah, he could of thought about that a little more. Oh well. It was over now and while he felt bad for the jolt he gave his brother, they were all there now.
Phil reached into Jayden's bag of chips and took out a handful tossing one into his mouth.
"Normally, yes. Dead to the world is the time of night we are in. But unfortunately sleeps seemed elusive to me tongiht. Beside you are better company than my dreams recently." He said, eating a few more chips. He sat down on the ground, leaning against the couch.
"Alice, why are you awake? I could hear you snoring a few minutes ago." Was it appropriate to tease his sister right now? Honestly he was so tired he didn't care.

Alice held back a small grin at the look on Phil's face, kind of proud of herself for scaring him but all hints of the grin had disappeared when she saw how Jayden had reacted to the fright Phil had given him. Of course he was still feeling shaken up after everything she had been through. She immediately felt guilty and looked down at her feet as her brothers exchanged a few words between the two of them. She felt that awkwardness between them momentarily, like she always did. Alice had always been distant from her brothers, but she was trying to change that. After Jayden had been attacked, she realized that life really was too short and either of them could be gone in an instant. She loved her brothers and wanted to make the most of their lives together.
When it was Alice's turn to answer the hard-hitting question, she finally looked up and shrugged at the two Longbottom boys. "Quinn woke me up," she responded simply. "I heard footsteps and knew I couldn't be the only one awake." She moved to stand next to the wall nearest the three siblings and leaned against it. She folded her arms across her chest. "H-how are you feeling, Jay? Better?" She asked, looking at the youngest with a brow that showed signs of worry.

@alice && @philiplongbottom "Normally, yes. Dead to the world is the time of night we are in. But unfortunately sleeps seemed elusive to me tongiht. Beside you are better company than my dreams recently." jay grinned a little as he felt his heart rate slow right back down to normal and that horrible feeling of being terrified left him. thankfully. "awe i am? i'm touched" he said with a light grin as he leaned his arms on the table as alice offered her explanation next. "Quinn woke me up," "I heard footsteps and knew I couldn't be the only one awake." ah quinn. the ever faithful and loyal guardian that was a little ball of fuzz. "seems like a night for not sleeping" he said as he took a few chops and crunched on them. he wasn't used to not being able to sleep. up till a few months ago there had been nothing that could keep him from his bed at night and nothing that could wake him from his slumber but the smell of bacon wafting up to his room from downstairs or when he had been that hungry the growls from his stomach could wake him. things were changing though and it worried him a little. he'd say he wanted to go back those few months but he never could. as horrible as it had been good things had happened too. really good things. one thing in particular that he was going to keep from his siblings for just a little while longer. "H-how are you feeling, Jay? Better?" he nodded a little as he slid the bag of chips along the table toward her encase she wanted a few. "yeah, much thanks" he said simply. he was. he wasn't in pain any more, his wounds had healed on the outside except for the rope burns around his wrists and ankles that had been caused by dark magic so they were taking their time in healing so he just kept them strapped up. "do you guys feel like you did when you were five? like we're going to get into trouble for sneaking into the kitchen for food in the middle of the night?" he asked with a small grin. he had been caught numerous times trying to sneak into the kitchen for food by his mother or father.

@alice @henry Turning his attention to his sister, he gave her a small smile, touched that she was concerned and showing it. He knew that she cared about both of them, way more than she would ever show. But sometimes it was nice to hear her concern. "Jay, Alice and I are here for you. Obviously, hence this little midnight rendezvous."Then the tone lightened and Phil laughed quietly at Jayden's remark. He hadn't felt bad sneaking food... ever. Even when he was five. He had always been extra careful. Once he even got one of his dad's plant creations to get him some vegetables from the garden. Sure he had gotten in trouble for the dirt all over his room, but no one knew where it came from. "Nah, I just feel like now since I can hold more I shouldn't do it as much. Mum might run out of food."

Alice wore a smile when Jayden responded with how he was feeling much better. She could not have been more happy to hear it. Seeing her brother in pain in the hospital was probably one of the worst things she had ever had to endure. Her broke her heart to see him there, writhing in pain and holding him down so he had to take it. It was a night that Alice was unfortunately never going to be able to forget. But as Jayden slid the bag of chips down to her, the thought was momentarily lifted from her mind and she happily reached into the bag to grab a small handful of chips before sliding it back. She made eye contact with Phil and her smile widened more before she began to munch on the chips and nodded along with him. She was glad that no matter what, her brothers seemed to understand that she did love them, just in her own way. A way that made it hard to express sometimes.
Taking the last chip and putting it in her mouth, Alice thought for a moment before answering. "I guess I was afraid sometimes," she said thoughtfully. Then she looked at her brothers. "And if Mum came down here right now, I'd probably hide those chips or something... but I feel like Dad would just take the bag and eat some himself." She laughed at the thought of the little differences between their parents. She loved them both dearly but when it came to things in the kitchen, Hannah's space, Alice had always been a little afraid of sneaking in and eating. Her own midnight follies usually took place in the study with her nose stuck in Fantastic Beasts until one of them came along to shoo her to bed. But sitting here with her brothers... she definitely felt like a kid again.
It was a good feeling.

@alice && @philiplongbottom "Jay, Alice and I are here for you. Obviously, hence this little midnight rendezvous." he chewed his lip. how could he say the next part without sounding like he didn't appreciate their being there for him. he was sso glad he had siblings that loved him and he knew that he had lucked out in the family department because he wouldn't change them for the world but they didn't need to worry. "i .. i know but you don't need to be. i'm fine now" he said to them. he wasn't but he was getting there and he didn't want to make his problems their problems. they had their own lives to think about and he didn't want to be the thing that would hold them back from them in any way, even if it was just a small day.
"Nah, I just feel like now since I can hold more I shouldn't do it as much. Mum might run out of food." jay laughed at that. this house would never run out of food. ever. jay had grown up with a more than healthy appetite and his mother had always known to shop for it and he was sure that she had always brought enough food to feed them and their friends families encase they came over for dinner and then still some more. "I guess I was afraid sometimes," "And if Mum came down here right now, I'd probably hide those chips or something... but I feel like Dad would just take the bag and eat some himself." jay grinned and found he had to agree. their father would join them, crack open some butter beer and probably open more food while their mom would most likely take them off them because they were chips and it was the middle of the night. "dad would open the butter beers" jay said with a smile as he moved to get himself some of the hot chocolate that phil had made while he'd been out of it. it felt good. that they could all sit here in the kitchen and just have a good conversation, be relaxed and laughing and having a good time. it was going to be hard for the next few months for all of them with what was brewing but they would get through it if they stuck together.

@henry @alice The mood was light and fun, but also comfortable. Phil didn't feel like he needed to reach some expectation, no right now all he needed to do was enjoy his family's company. "Then we'd need some random thing and we could convince dad to take us on a midnight shopping trip." He teased. There wasn't anything they really needed, but he was sure they could think of something that they really wanted. Glancing at Alice he grinned, glad his sister was participating tonight. He missed her when they were at school. At home they talked more, not a ton, but more then they did at school. Jay and Phil had always been closer then he and Alice had.

Alice watched Jayden for a moment and then a small smile appeared on her face. "We're your older siblings, Jay," she said softly, but loud enough for them both to hear. "We're always gonna be here for you. Whether you like it or not." She added the last part with a chuckle. While Jay could tell them all he wanted about how he felt fine and didn't need them to worry, Alice would always worry. Especially after his attack. It was practically in the job title that came along with being an older sister. You just couldn't help but worry sometimes.
The Hufflepuff had truly forgotten how fun it was being around her brothers and joking lightly like they were. For a moment, it felt as if all the bad things weren't happening and it was just the three of them as kids again. Alice had never been close with her brothers. Sure, they'd talk every now and then at home but at school it happened even less. As a Hufflepuff she rarely saw Jayden and Philip who were both sorted into Gryffindor. Being at opposite ends of the castle would make that harder for anyone. But it wasn't just the fact that they had been put in different houses; Alice had always been distant from her brothers. That didn't mean she didn't love them, though. Alice loved her family and her brothers above anything else, and as she looked at them and smiled she was certain that they knew that.
Alice looked down at her hands for a moment as she laughed lightly at what Philip had said. She looked up then, her eyes looking back and forth between the two. It was remarkable how they had all ended up with their mother's blonde hair but also how Phil and Jay resembled their dad so much. "I hope you guys know how much I love you," she said, her voice actually a normal room-level and not quiet and shy. "And that I would do absolutely anything to protect you." She was sure they did, but she wanted to let them know one-hundred percent. In light of everything happening, it seemed only right.

@alice && @philiplongbottom "I hope you guys know how much I love you," "And that I would do absolutely anything to protect you." jay smiled at the words that came out of alice's mouth. he knew she loved them she just had a hard time showing it. there was nothing wrong with people feeling things different. jay for instance had no trouble telling the people he loved that he loved them, had no problems still hugging people especially his parents and he had always been the outgoing one, the one more likely to take charge and give directions to people. they all had their differences and that happened to be one. "you would have loved it a whole lot more if mom and dad had brought home a puppy instead of me, don't lie" he said with a smile on his face as he teased her lightly, reaching out to nudge her arm softly. he knew how hard it was for her to say things like that and he didn't want to make it harder for her by letting it drag on. though he did get up to move closer to her. leaning down beside her he pressed a quick kiss to her cheek. "we love you too. but just remember, it's a brothers job to protect his sister, not the other way around" he stated as he moved to stand up and went to grab another bag of chips from the cupboard. "so phil. tell us about those green and leafy things you and dad love so much. how're they going?" he asked as he moved to settle back into the chair for a little more conversation with his siblings.

@henry @alice Phil watched the exchange between his brother and sister, touched at the words she said. He smiled at her but didn't feel the need to say anything. His love for his siblings, though sometimes hard to show to Alice, was pretty big. Jay brought up the plants and Phil beamed. "Oh, you should see this one that dad just got to bloom! We pollinated it last month when we were visiting and the flowers are so great! And I think they might be carnivorous which means it could keep the flies away, cause it would eat them. And they might---- you guys don't really care do you?" he trailed off chuckling slightly.

Alice could not hide the wide grin that came upon her face at Jayden's comment. Even if they siblings weren't close, Alice felt as if her brothers knew her better than anyone. It warmed her heart when Jayden walked over to plant a small, brotherly kiss on her cheek. It was such a youngest child, but Alice loved that about him. The Hufflepuff narrowed her eyes and pointed a finger at him. "That won't stop me from kicking the arse of anyone who tries to hurt you," she said lightheartedly, but she meant it.
When Jayden then addressed Philip, Alice's eyes seemed to widen with interest. Alice and Phil had one particular thing in common and while it wasn't exactly herbology, it was their love for their respective passions. While Alice had animals and magical creatures to love, Philip had made quite the hobby out of herbology with their father and that's what Alice loved about him, too. She listened intently to her brother and gave him a slightly scolding look when he trailed off. "Of course we do!" She said, incredulousy but also smiling just a bit as well. It was amazing to Alice how they could all not speak for so long but then still converse as if things weren't so awkward between the three of them.
