The whole school seemed to have frozen in a state of panic the day after the kidnappings, today. Alucard was taken as well as many others and Cori was even more worried by the second. She felt her heart rate pick up every time heard someone walking by her, hoping that it was him... It wasn't.
She was walking through the entrance hall toward the Great Hall. They were to have a meeting of sorts where the headmaster was going to explain everything that was going to be done and try to calm the students or something. Cori doubted that anyone would really be able to calm them down, but she made her way there with the other students anyway...
She had her walking stick outstretched and was walking beside another Ravenclaw who was helping her find her way. "Look out!" they said, but it was too late. It seemed someone was rushing by them and tripped over Coris walking stick. "Sorry," Cori said, pulling her stick closer to her.

Alice was very much still shaken up over the events that had occurred at the school. She had almost be kidnapped by a group on unknown assailants and had it not been for Carcer, she very well might have been. On top of that, Alice had never expected to see her father in battle defending anything so fiercely and she had experienced just that. Her father going headfirst into battle to defend the school and those within it. She always knew that he could, but seeing it was totally different. There was a part of her that felt as if it gave her the strength to carry on the immediate day after such a traumatic ordeal.
After the danger had passed, students had been rushed back to their common rooms giving them little to no chance to see if their friends and loved ones were safe as well. Alice had Carcer with her but she had been up all night hoping that James was okay, that Abigail was okay, that Finn and Casey were okay. Alice could feel in her bones that her brothers were safe. She had a feeling that her father's wrath would have been much worse if either Phil or Jay had been taken from the school. When the announcement was made that her father would be making an announcement in the Great Hall, Alice had practically sprung out of the portrait in the Hufflepuff common room to race to the hall.
Many people were gathered in the Entrance Hall, waiting to get inside and immediately Alice began frantically searching for her friends in Gryffindor house. The people around Alice were a blur as she gently shoved through the crowd, muttering "excuse me" here and there. Then she bumped into someone rather hard and then found herself tripping over a stick of something. Alice stumbled a bit but regained her balance before she had the chance to fall. A voice behind her had uttered an apology and Alice whipped her head around to face them, beginning to say her own apology. "No, I'm sor -"
It had to be her. Coriander Pepsi. But Alice had heard she was going by 'Winterfield' now, though she cared little to ask why. She had heard some other things about her as well, but had not paid any mind. "Cori," she said harshly as she stood straight up, brushing off her robes.

Alice knew that voice anywhere. She sighed, pulling her stick in closer to her. "Alice, hi," her voice was calm and cool, though her blood was boiling. She suddenly heard Alucards voice in her head, reminding her of the power she had simply in her hand to touch someone and... well, now wasn't the time to experiment. Especially not with Alice's father in the next room.
"I hope no one you love was taken?" she said, her voice growing colder. She had lost someone she... cared for, and Alice was probably just hunky dory with her happy little family. In fact, Cori wasn't surprised the Longbottoms weren't all camping out in their dads office right now having happy family time.
The thought made her stomach turn.

Alice glared at Coriander and then her eyes darted to the walking stick. She wondered briefly then if Coriander could see her, and judging from the odd look in her eye it seemed as if the rumors really were true. She was blind. Something in Alice told her to back off but then another part of her told her that she shouldn't give Coriander the satisfaction, that is if she wanted it. Alice may dislike Coriander a great deal but she wasn't daft: the two were very much alike in different ways. Quiet, intelligent, preferring solitude over company... if the two had not disliked one another off the bat, or if Alice had been in Ravenclaw... they might have been friends. And Alice knew that if she were blind, she would hate if Coriander pitied her.
The Hufflepuff was caught slightly off guard by the Ravenclaw's question. She still had that cold tone, but the very fact that she asked it struck a chord with Alice. No matter, she still kept her glare. "I don't know," she replied, just as coldly. It was the truth. She had not yet known which of her Gryffindor friends were safe, though she was hoping they all were. And since Coriander had asked, however coldly it was, Alice felt she should as well. "And you?"

Was that a hint of worry in Alice's eyes? She didn't know who she had lost? Alice hadn't been paying attention? Well, in her defense, Alice had a lot more people to care for than Cori did. Cori had Maryn, her father and Alucard. And one one in the hospital and one was in America. "Not sure," Cori lied. She knew Alucard was gone. There was no way he wouldn't have come for her as soon as it all started and he would have found her before it ended. He was gone, and she was pretty darn sure of it. Even though she couldn't see, she knew.

Alice wasn't sure of how to respond. There was something about Coriander, the way she had spoken... that told Alice that perhaps not everything was right in her world either. That perhaps someone she happened to actually care for was missing. As much as Alice disliked her, she couldn't help but feel a sting in her heart for Coriander. For once the two of them could agree on something, could feel the same thing. And it was weird.
The Hufflepuff avoided the Ravenclaw's eyes. No one deserved to see someone they cared about taken, no matter what. And even Coriander, whom Alice really could not care less about, didn't deserve that. It took a moment before Alice was able to form any sort of word. "Sorry," she mumbled, loud enough for only Coriander to barely hear. Alice realized she suddenly didn't even have it in her to say something snarky to Coriander. It was a difficult time for everyone, and there was no use in making it worse.

"No, don't... it's fine," it was strange, actually, how a part of her wanted to actually tell Alice who she was missing and that it was tearing her apart inside. But no, she quickly realized it wasn't Alice she wanted to tell. No, she just wanting to tell someone. Anyone, really. She wanted a friend. She wanted Maryn.
She sucked in another breath, folding her arms over her chest once more. So, here they were. Thinking and feeling the same things. This wasn't something Cori really wanted with Alice, and it was strange and foreign. She cleared her throat, "guess we should go in soon," she said.
@alice (I literally don't know how to keep this thread going without them being mean to each other XD)

Alice did not meet Coriander's eye. She did not like that she and Coriander, for the first time, had something in common. It was weird sharing something, even a feeling or emotion, with the person who was supposed to be your worst enemy. She kept her arms straight, awkwardly at her side as Coriander commented about going into the Great Hall. Alice immediately took this as a way out. "Yeah. Guess so," she said, and just as she turned to walk away she glanced at Coriander to meet her eyes one last time. She wasn't sure why having the same emotions as Coriander was so unsettling to her... but she got the feeling that something wasn't exactly right there. It bothered her, but she couldn't put her finger on it. She visibly shook her head and then entered the Great Hall to find her loved ones.
@corianderpepsi Yesssss. We can end it here and do another one later on. :]
