The Monsters walk among us Summer vacation. The mere fact that it existed was an issue for Grey. He hated it. It was always hot out, even in the mostly gloomy confines of England, and that was enough to tip him over the edge of agitation. Today was no different either. He had been dragged along to Diagon Alley by his younger sister, only to lose her within minutes of arrival. She was always getting him to go places, always promising some kind of compensation for it but never following through on her word. In the end she always found a friend or two from school and ran off with them, leaving him to wander around on his own for the rest of the day. He had nothing against being alone, but he would have rather stayed home if he knew that Addi would instantly ditch him. He had purchased a few school supplies during his hours alone, knowing the basic necessities off the top of his head. Books, quills, parchment, the whole lot. It was finally his last year at Hogwarts and waiting for it to arrive was brutal. To him, it was a waiting game. Once school started back up again he was going to savor every last moment of it. The years had gone by relatively fast, and the events of the previous year were still lurking in the back of his mind, as it was with everyone. Convincing himself that there was nothing he could have done was tough, but he had to be vigilant and get over it. It was done. Over. The only thing that he could do now was take care of his friends and make sure it didn’t happen again. Every witch and wizard was aware of this, but there was a difference between actually preventing it and just saying you would. Grey was following the latter train of thought; he couldn’t bear to see more of his schoolmates die at the hands of evil incarnate. It was ridiculous that this was still happening in this day and age. He had long thought that blood-feuding was ancient history, but was surprised to see it so institutionally ingrained in society still. Shaking his dark thoughts away, Grey headed back towards the Leaky Cauldron, hoping to find his sister already waiting for him there. He had given her quite a few hours with her friends, and they did have a curfew to be home by. If they missed that, well, Grey would be the one getting the earful since Addi was too “innocent” to understand her mistake. Was it fair of their parents to do that? Probably not. But he had told himself that it was their way of showing their love for him, even though it was a vastly different kind of love than what his sisters received from them. Grey had given up trying to understand this facet of his life and knew they would back off the minute he went back to Hogwarts. Other than sending a howler here and there, they pretty much left him alone, only to check whether he was coming home or not, or to see if Addi was keeping up with her school work or had a new boyfriend. Silly stuff like that. Looking up, he realized he had unconsciously made his way back to the Leaky Cauldron. It paid off being a moody teenager caught up in his edgy thoughts from time to time. Pushing the door open and scanning the pub intensely, he was disappointed that Addi was nowhere to be seen. It’s not like he actually expected her to be on time. The girl was scatterbrained beyond belief and would be late to her own funeral if given the chance. He knew it was hopeless to dwell on the thought and copped a seat in the open, hoping that she’d see him when she finally decided to get there. Tilting back his head, Grey became absorbed in his thoughts, drifting off into a daze as the hustle and bustle of the bar went on around him. The constant white noise of chairs scraping against the floor, quiet, whispered chatter amongst the patrons, and clinking of glasses was therapeutic; it brought him back to school, where there was always a low drone of noise inside the castle. It had this strange feeling like he was back at Hogwarts. Like he was home. grey xavier slater & @ktmccartney 733 Lips of Deceit by Avenged Sevenfold whooo first thread back after almost four years MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

time still turns the pages of the book its burned Kyle strolled down the long winding roads of a quiet corner of London. The road's red and tan bricks were held together by cement that had grown dull and stained with time. He whistled to himself a pleasant tune syncing it's notes to faint sounds of the soles of his shoes striking against the road. It was a nice day out, the sun peaked around white clouds watching over the people of London kissing the tops of the trees that lined the streets. Dull glares on the ground from the glass of tall buildings created oblong shapes that crawled here and there without any sort of direction. Any given day Kyle could be found out and about. Doing something was much better then doing nothing for Kyle. In his eyes nothing was boring, so something is always more fun than nothing and he was a big fan of fun.
Kyle continued down the road heading in the direction of the Leakey Cauldron. For him the small little tavern always provided a place to head to and enjoy a good drink and a pleasant escape from the endless nothingness that was his home. The Williams family was not excellent at spending quality time together. His father and mother were always busy with work or any other cast assortment of other errands. His older sister was most commonly known to be put tracking down the latest "hot article" for her section in the "Daily Prophet". Kyle's brother James, the youngest of the Williams children, was never so adventurous as to unglue himself from the television long enough to realize that the world itself was like a giant television that he could be the star in. So for Kyle being alone, but out and about, was enough to give him more excitement then the house could ever provide.
Kyle smiled, thinking about this and shook his head at the ridiculousness that was his family. He looked about realizing that he had traveled for a decent distance without really paying attention to where he was going. Noticing a few landmarks and street signs as being ones in the vicinity of the tavern, he went back to his daydreaming. Kyle was quite the scatter brain, at least a little more then your average teenager. He knew he was going to the Leakey Cauldron and that's in London. London was where he was so he wasn't to far off from his targeted destination. The logic path for Kyle usually connected the closest two routes when it concerned with basic everyday things. Now that wasn't to say that he was so simple on all things. He was known to be rather witty and charming by his friends. Even the people that didn't like him very much where aware of his terrible jokes and dry humor. However that was neither here nor there at the moment. The important part was getting to his destination without walking into traffic of running into a lamp post.
Eventually Kyle made his way down a side street and after a few minutes saw the small sign that advertised the location of the Leakey Cauldron. He was happy, this tavern held many fond memories for him. As he reminisced making his way to the front door he remembered the many times he would come here with his close friends. Countless hours had been passed in this building over the past few years. He and his friends played games, told stories and laughed having not a care in the world. For Kyle the joy and good times that he experienced with his friends here was one of the most closely cherished set of memories he had.
He pushed open the door looking about as his eyes adjusted to the low lighting of the interior of the tavern. His eyes scared the bar for a second before he stepped in closing the door behind him. He looked back making sure to close it fully, and whipped his feet on the stiff bristled floor mat. Turning back around his vision caught sight of a familiar figure slouching over a table in the center of the room. He smiled as he saw Grey sitting there doing the usual Grey slouch after what he could only presume had probably been a long drawn out day for Grey. Kyle walked over and patted Grey's shoulder lightly and spoke up in a terrible female voice. "Hey there darling are you doing alright." Kyle's voice cracked back into his regular male voice at the end of his sentence, he couldn't hold back a small laugh as he looked down at Grey.

The Monsters walk among us Soaking in the ambient noise was more than enough to set Grey’s mind to rest. He felt like it had been an extremely long, drawn out, non-productive day; something all too common in his excruciatingly boring life. Of course, that was what he thought was boring and mediocre. To the common plebian witch or wizard, he probably lived a life of excitement that far exceeded their expectations, a life of extreme exotic explorations that proved his existential existence was exemplary. Exhaling, Grey exhumed a large amount of air from inside him, probably making an exhausting sound that would have caused numerous people to exchange exuberant gazes and have expelled any normal person. Grey, on the other hand was internally giggling at the fact that he had a natural talent for thinking up great alliterations inside his head. Unfortunately they would never see the light of day as long as he lived. Popping his eyes open for a few seconds, Grey glanced around the Leaky Cauldron once again, hoping to catch a glimpse of his little sister. He didn’t expect to see her there, but the thought counted at least. He’d probably give her a few more hours before he went out to hunt her down. It had happened before, and he had been pissed at her because of it. All she ever did was run around giggling like a child, mostly because she still was one, but it was like she didn’t know how to grow up. The events over the last year should have been enough to jerk her awake, but it didn’t seem to have done anything. Maybe she was too scared to show what she was thinking. Maybe she was just stupid. Grey was under the impression that it was probably a little bit of both. Either way, Addi knew that both he and Claire were there for her if she couldn’t talk to their parents or her friends about it. He had definitely had a hard time adjusting to the outcome of the kidnappings, but he had to remember that everyone reacted to things different. There was a good chance she was still in shock over the whole thing and hadn’t had time to actually process any of it. Drifting back into his comatose state of slumber, Grey heard a multitude of people walk in and out of the bar. He could tell from the echo of their footsteps where they were heading in the pub: a few over to the bar where they proceeded to order drinks, a couple up the stairs to the rooms above him, and the rest heading to various tables situated around him. He wasn’t aware of how much time had passed since he had sat down, but eventually a pair of footsteps approached him. Grey assumed it was someone about to tell at him for taking up a rather large table when he was the only one there, but instead he was greeted by a very raspy sounding women. He could only imagine that she either smoked a lot, screamed a lot, or had been hit with some kind of nasty hex back in her day that could cause her to sound so hideous. As the hag finished off her question, her voice started to morph into something that sounded surprisingly masculine. What the hell was this thing? Opening his eyes, Grey was met with a tap on his shoulder, enough momentum to catch him off guard as he titled too far back in his chair. Coming to a crashing halt on the hard concrete floor, Grey looked up to see the figure of someone all too recognizable to him. It was goddamn Williams. The silly and outrageously talented Hufflepuff Keeper he called his friend was looming over him, probably about to laugh his ass off because Grey had fallen over. “Damn! Don’t scare me like that.” He forced out jokingly as he brushed crumbs of some sort off of his pants. Shaking his head and letting out a small laugh as well, Grey pushed himself back up to his feet and placed his chair back where it belonged. Sticking his hand out to shake his friend’s hand, Grey continued. “So what brought you to this neck of the woods? I haven’t seen too many attractive ladies around today that would find your ugly mug interesting in the slightest bit, so it can’t be because of that, I assume.”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

time still turns the pages of the book its burned The situation was one that caused Kyle to fill with happiness and laughter. Kyle and Grey had been friends for a long time, and Grey was an individual who was prone to take naps. Or at least to the average person it seemed to be that he was napping. Kyle knew that it was just simply Grey's way of releasing steam and clearing his head. Kyle had learned over the years that if he wanted to mess with Grey then these bouts of day sleep were the best times to mess with his best friend. Kyle watched as Grey tumbled back in his chair colliding with the floor. His face turned from a smile to a concerned frown for a moment but quickly turned back to a smile as he saw Grey was alright.
Kyle placed a hand on Grey's shoulder leaning over as he laughed for a moment at the situation that had just transpired. Grey never failed to amuse Kyle and this was because as good friends they had an understanding of each other. Kyle knew that joking around with Grey was fine, where as when Kyle joked with others it was more of as shot in the dark in an attempt to show that he was a charismatic individual. He patted Grey's shoulder and then looked down at Grey's extended handshake. Kyle grasped his friends hand shaking it friendly and happy to have came across the one person that Kyle always looked forward to hanging out with. "I'm sorry mate, I just couldn't help myself, wouldn't be normal of me to not mess with you." He smiled walking around the table, taking a seat across from Grey.
"Hey man I know you love this ugly face." He smiled looking about the tavern. The tavern was not overly packed, however it was also not under populated. It was what seemed to be an even middle ground of patrons. "I was just out of the house looking for somewhere to do something fun. You know how it is at my house. Remember that time you came over for a week and we were stuck inside the whole time because of the rain? Yeah not a huge fan of boredom so I decided to head out into the city and see what kind of trouble I could get into." Kyle laughed looking across the table at Grey.

The Monsters walk among us “You know, I really don’t understand what the girls see in you,” Grey muttered out as his friend greeted him. It had been awhile since he had seen Kyle. The two of them had met up a few times at the beginning of summer break, but since then they had different schedules and couldn’t find time to hang out. Instances like this, where the two of them casually ran into each other, was a lot better than planning something out. Would it have been a better day if he Grey had run into Kyle earlier on? Sure. But he was also somewhat terrified that his friend might have tried hitting on his little sister. Grey was sure he had made it clear in the past that Addi was off limits, and as far as Grey knew, Kyle had followed through with his word. Not that he wouldn’t mind having his friend as a potential brother in law in the slightest. It was more the fact that he would never here the end of it from Addi, and that was more than enough for Grey. This whole thought process made it seem like he viewed Kyle as some kind of predatory skirt chaser, but that wasn’t true. Kyle just happened to gravitate toward the ladies and typically did a decent job making a good first impression. Grey would be lying if he said he wasn’t jealous of that. Sitting back down in his chair, Grey motioned for Kyle to sit down. Listening to his friend’s explanation for being in the Leaky Cauldron, Grey nodded intently. He recalled the time he had visited Kyle’s house. It was possibly the most boring thing he had ever done. And Grey was an expert on boredom. There was literally nothing to do there, and in this day and age, that was hard to accomplish. If it had been a few days, sure, being stuck inside would have been fine. But an entire week of torrential downpour was more than enough to drive any sane person stir crazy. “Looking for trouble? That’s not too hard to do when you’re around. I feel like it happens every time I’m with you,” he said smirking at his friend. That was an understatement by a long shot. A lot of insane things can happen when you’re enveloped in the world of magic; things that a muggle could never comprehend in their life time. Add on top of that an entire magical school, and any multitude of messed up things could happen. Grey was sure that he had seen everything that could possibly go wrong by the end of his first year, but he was surprised again and again every year he returned back to school. Throw Kyle into the mix, and it was never ending. He still wasn’t sure whether it was his friend that caused it, or if it was the combination of the two of them that lowered their inhibitions for danger. Still, it seemed like they were always in some sort of predicament while at school, whether it was a crazy ex-girlfriend trying to hex Kyle or a man-eating chair that was some strange transfiguration of a bear and an office chair. Pulling back his jacket sleeve as Kyle continued talking, Grey glanced at his watch. 2:30. Where was his sister? He hoped she hadn’t already headed home and had forgotten to tell him. That would definitely be a new one. He knew Addi had a creative imagination too, and he could only wonder what she would tell their parents when they asked where he was. Not that they would care too much. “I’ve been stuck here almost all day. Got dragged along by Addi, and I’ve been waiting for a few hours. Kind of nice not having to follow her around though.” Grey said, still staring at his watch. Looking up from it he shook his head in disappointment. “That girl will never think of anyone but herself.”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

time still turns the pages of the book its burned Time always flies by when you are hanging out with friends. Specifically when you are hanging out with a best friend it can seem as if time almost flies by with a direct correlation to how many great jokes and hilarious stories about the past that you tell. Either way before he had even noticed it Kyle looked up from his mug and noticed the golden rays of the sunset shining through the windows of the tavern and the shadows that were beginning to lick their way up the walls and starting to crawl out of the corners to come into the evening light.
"Either way I think that even with the strength the Kites' Beaters bring to the table the Harriers are still going to shut them down with their speed. Its as easy as that man." Kyle was insistent that Germany's regional Quidditch team the Heidelberg Harriers were going to outplay Norway's team the Karasjok Kites in the upcoming semi-finals of the European Cup. Kyle smiled realizing just how many times he and Grey had this same conversation over the years. Kyle always getting heated and burning with passion for his team, while Grey didn't really care much for the theatrics of it all. Grey just enjoyed seeing Kyle fume when his team lost. However through it all the taller of the two friends was always a good sport and put up with Kyle's endless rants on the sport and at least pretended he was interested in what Kyle was saying, Kyle knew that. That was what made the two such good friends, they always knew how to have a good time. Alternatively Kyle was also amused with how fluently the two of them were at holding an intelligent conversation. This was a very rare thing to see from two men within their age group. Peers of their age group would rather spend their time talking about how 'fresh' the newest WizChat filter was, or about how 'lit' the new robes by Madam Veela for this upcoming school year were going to be. It was a miracle.

The Monsters walk among us More hours passed, and Grey had lost track of time. The two friends had been glued to their seats since Kyle arrived in the pub, catching up with each other and talking like they always had. As time moved on, the two oblivious to their surroundings, it became increasingly darker inside, the few dusty, cobweb ridden windows barely letting in tiny rays of sunset. Looking around the Leaky Cauldron, he noticed that a lot of the patrons that had been eating and talking when Grey arrived earlier in the afternoon were now either gone or had moved on to other things in the facility. They had gone through numerous butterbeers already, and Grey was starting to feel the sugary sweetness of it fill his stomach. He surely hadn’t needed to consume the last three. Grey had always been one for Firewhisky, but now was not the time nor place to be pounding those back. That drink was reserved for special occasions and late at night, not the middle of the day when he was busy talking to a friend. The waitress was on her way over once again, Grey knowing fully that she was about to egg him into buying more drinks. He silently moved his hands in rapid motion indicating that he was done. That amount of drink was going to ruin his dinner. At the time, Kyle had been going on about his thoughts on the professional Quidditch teams, and who he thought had a stab at the Cup this year. Being a close follower of the magical sport, both the professional and Hogwarts’ inter-house league, Grey was well acquainted with what the odds were for all the teams this year, and the two of them had gone over it numerous times. He was still hell-bent that his team, the Ballycastle Bats, would have a good whack at the championship within the next few years. This proud statement was almost always shot down with giggles by other hardcore Quidditch fans. The Bats had been awful since their team virtually fell apart in the late-90s, following a domination of the professional Quidditch scene for decades, always winning the whole thing or giving the better teams hell throughout the season. Now they were as good as trash, maybe worse. Nonetheless, they were making strides and starting to pick up better, younger players, whilst the other teams maintained their long standing traditions of only using the veteran players. “Listen, the Harriers might have a few speedy players, but those Kite Beaters have deadly accuracy. Just last month they knocked out the opposing team’s coach because he was being a bellend.” Grey laughed slightly at this, remembering when he had popped open the Daily Prophet and saw the moment captured as the highlight for Quidditch that weekend. The coach was known to be quite cheeky when playing against the Kites, but his comments about the beater’s great-aunt’s sister twice-removed was apparently the tipping point. The guy ended up in St. Mungo’s with a few missing teeth and temporary memory loss. Served him right. No one makes fun of a beater’s great-aunt’s sister twice-removed and gets away with it. “Why are you so worried about the pro teams anyways? If you focused more on your house team instead of chasing tail, maybe you’d have a shot at the next level,” he said sarcastically, a small grin forming on his face so Kyle knew it was all in jest. time still turns the pages of the book its burned Kyle was a creature of habit. Being the kind of person who could go day after day doing something seamingly odd to other simply because he had formed the odd quirk. Specifically at the current moment Kyle was being plagued by a common case of the running mouth. He didn't mean to consistently create conundrums of colossal scale, yet his tendency toward terrible tears of tantalizingly tall tales taught others to tug their hair during his conversations. In between breaths here or there Kyle took a moment to keep an eye on his surroundings. He didn't really care who was around to hear his plague of bland conversation concerning the fairness of Wizarding Sports however he did care if he was beginning to cause other patrons of the bar unrest. Which at the current moment he keenly observed that he most definitely doing just that thing. So with a pause Kyle looked down at his mug and stirred the thick bubbles with a small fork that was sitting on the table. Grey was right if Kyle could ever manage to focus on multiple different basic tasks rather then peg hole himself into the affairs of trivial pursuits he would probably get a lot more done. Kyle knew Hrey was right and took no offense to the constructive criticism that his best friend was providing him. Kyle smiled and let out a small chuckle at Grey's comment and took a sip of his drink.
"You never fail to impress me with how much you know me Grey. I'm lucky to have a pal like you." Kyle raised his mug up, toasting it to Grey. "If it weren't for you, I would probably be a stain on a floorboard or be turned into a small reptilian creature by now. For that I'm eternally greatful." Kyle took another sip of his drink lowering it to the table and leaning back in his chair. Kyle proceeded to scan the bar. There wasn't a sign anywhere of Grey's blond little sister. You know the one with the beautiful face... Well at least Kyle observed it as such. However there were a few new faces in the building since he had arrived. It concerned him for a moment that he might have been rambling for hours because he had no sense of exactly what time it was. Kyle turned his head to look over at the door as it's bell rang and it was pushed open. Kyle managed to lean far enough back to see out the door before it slipped closed. Darkness had managed to find its way across the city. Kyle turned back to Grey and shrugged. "Did you notice that it was dark out alread? Where's that trouble making sister of your's mate?" Kyle said with a chuckle. Taking another sip of his now warm butter bear.

The Monsters walk among us Grey raised his mug to Kyle’s as the two of them laughed. This was what having friends was all about. It seemed like the two of them never did anything interesting during the summer break, but meeting up like this on accident was preferable to acting out like a babbling bumbling band of baboons bouncing like beautiful beasts up and down Diagon Alley. Not today, not ever. That type of buffoonery was saved for school, especially with this upcoming year being their last. Whilst in the past the two could be found tearing tactlessly like tornadoes through the hallways thoroughly enjoying themselves like the teens they were, this final year was going to be at a whole new level if they could figure out what to do. They would never top Potter blowing up a tower, but there was plenty else to do. Running the paper was the only true responsibility they had, but there were capable underlings they had recruited over the years that knew how to take control. They would have to anyways, since Grey and Kyle were gone next year. They would no longer be able to be the rulers of their tiny newspaper. It was definitely dreary, dare he deem it depressing, dreaming of days devoid of the duo. Even considering the fact that Kyle could go professional in Quidditch made Grey uneasy. His friend would no longer be by his side to back him up, and vice-versa. “And I would be the stain on the wall that had been their years earlier. We don’t have much longer to make our mark at Hogwarts, that’s for sure.”He took a swig of his drink. It was warm, but that didn’t matter to him. He had already paid for it, and the drink wasn’t the main reason he was here. It was to catch up with his friend and to make plans for the future. Grey finished off the butterbeer in the gulp, slamming it down on the table. Just a little longer until that was going to be firewhisky or some other kind of adult beverage. But who wanted anything but firewhisky? Merlin’s Beard that stuff was godly. For now he had to settle for the child’s menu, apparently the bar tender wasn’t feeling friendly with the two of them today. Maybe he had heard about them from another student. Surely they were notorious for something other than the paper. Kyle then inquired about Addi, and her divine presence not being there. “That’s a wonderful question good sir. Knowing her, she’s probably giggling like the little girl she is back home. Might have to poof on home to double-check soon. Mum and dad would kill me if I left her here on her own.” Grey couldn’t understand that reasoning though, since the two siblings were only a year apart. And on many levels, Addilyn was far more responsible than he ever would be. “Why? You interested in seeing her before going back to school?” Grey said, jabbing at his buddy. time still turns the pages of the book its burned Kyle throughly enjoyed spending time with his best friend. Even though most Summer's that the two shared were spent doing nothing. Kyle pondered this idea for a moment, why did this always happen? He always made plans to spend time with Grey but they always ended up not seeing each other. It was a strange occurrence. It seemed almost like their summers existed in a void where nothing ever happened. One might say that they both went home after school ended each summer and payed in bed. They would lay there or at least in spirit not communicating with the outside world. Imagine that, he thought to himself. How strange would that look from the outside looking in. Oh well it was not something that he could figure out so it was out of his control...
Kyle blinked his eyes realizing he had been day dreaming. He laughed as Grey mentioned that he would much rather be a stain on the wall before he let himself leave this school not remembered. Kyle agreed with him on that subject. He didn't want to leave Hogwarts without being a student that was remembered also. He looked up to people like Harry Potter and the Weasly brothers. In his opinion people that were remembered were the ones that made history. And that was one thing that Kyle wanted to be. A part of history. Kyle twirled that last bit of butter bear around in his mug and looked across the table at Grey laughing and shaking his head as his good friend prided fun at him for wanting to know where Addi was. He did have a bit of a crush on Addi but he wasn't going to say anything to Grey about it. At least not yet.
Kyle enjoyed the time he had spent with Grey that evening, he was glad that he had the chance to catch up with Grey but he was much more appreciateive of the fact that this occurred on the summer between their last horrah. Kyle smiled and extended his hand out to Grey. He took his friend's hand and shook it. "Grey any time I spend with you is memorable. And I think that I've never wasted any time that I've spent with you. When the musicans sing songs of our lives in the future they will not sing of an Epic of Time Wasted, they will sing an Epic of The Men Who Changed Wizarding History Forever!"
