The Monsters walk among us Jamie’s response to Grey’s long winded speech were all understandable. He knew he had no position whatsoever to be saying the things he was, but he had a feeling that there was some importance to getting his words out. In most circumstances he’d just shrug off other people’s problems, but there was something about Jamie that made him feel like he couldn’t push her away like everyone else. Sure, she didn’t think that he couldn’t fix things between her and Kyle, but Grey knew it wasn’t impossible. They used to be friends, so there was already something there. All he had to do was figure out a solution to the problem. Of course all he had done so far was make excuses for Kyle, and that didn’t make either of them look good. Grey couldn’t speak for his friend, just offer alternate solutions to the faults that he may have. No one was perfect after all. “Sure, things might never go back to how they were before. Maybe the friendship the two of you had will never be fixed. Maybe neither of you want that. But I think abandoning that same friendship it is a waste.” Grey couldn’t have been any more honest than that with Jamie. It had been a long time since he had been that straightforward with another person like this. Blunt honesty wasn’t always a good virtue, and more than not it tended to have a negative impact when Grey used it. He wasn’t really the best at articulating what he thought on the spot. He’d much rather sit and brainstorm a response to someone than come up with it then and there. “I can guarantee that if you sit down and have a talk with him, just the two of you, all of this could be resolved.” Grey was hesitant with this suggestion, because it sounded like the last encounter the two had started off almost the same way, and the added bonus of a third party escalated the issue to a new level. Hopefully his involvement wasn’t doing the same thing as the mysterious annoying girl. “It’s up to you though. I don’t blame you if you think he won’t change.” Even Grey was slightly worried about the outcome of it now. Jamie didn’t seem like she was looking forward to fixing things, and knowing Kyle, it would be hard to persuade him to get rid of his old habits. But it was still worth the try. Grey found it difficult to comprehend how two people, who seemed to always be on good terms, could simply stop being friends after a little thing like that. He understood the ramifications that it had, of course, and Jamie had already voiced her thoughts on it. “So how do you think we should go about this? I could talk to him about it first, and see where it goes from there?”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Abandoning the friendship might be a waste, but Jamie was afraid that she was going to invest more time and emotion into the relationship with the same end result: her realizing that she really didn’t want to be friends with Kyle. She understood that people all had flaws, but there were some flaws that she was unable to see past, and Kyle’s hatred of Slytherins was one of them. In any case, Jamie appreciated that Grey wasn’t holding out on her and not telling her what he really felt. Maybe he was edging on the side of offensive, but Jamie could forgive that in favor of the perspective he was giving on an argument she probably wouldn’t have looked for perspective on. “I’ll ask him if he wants to talk.” Jamie finally said, though she wasn’t sure if it was just to appease Grey or because she genuinely wanted to fix things with Kyle. She was still on the fence about the whole situation. She would reach out, though, if only to be able to say that Kyle was the one that was keeping them from being friends again.
“It might be better if you stay out of it.” Jamie said with an apologetic wince. “The last time someone tried to help us with our fighting, she just ended up making me seriously consider homicide.” Maybe someone smoothing things over would just end up making it bumpier, and Jamie would rather not take that chance. “If you want to talk to him about it, it would probably be best to wait until afterwards.” She was resolved now, and Jamie wanted to rip off the Band Aid. She’d talk to Kyle as soon as possible, and then report back to Grey.

The Monsters walk among us Grey silently listened to Jamie as she explained that she would rather him keep out of the conversation between her and Kyle. He had already planned on it, knowing that the last time they seemed to try and work it out, there was a third-party involved and it didn’t make things any better than they already were. “That’s fine with me. I feel like I’ve probably already butted in too much as it is.” Grey answered. Jamie and Kyle were both mature adults (although he wondered about Kyle sometimes), and they were completely capable of dealing with their qualms towards each other on their own. One of Grey’s eyes slightly twitched as Jamie mentioned she was on the verge of wanting to kill the girl that had intervened last time. That was a scary statement, especially from a werewolf. He was sure that she wasn’t serious about it, but the lingering thought that she could flip just like that and go after someone was terrifying. Grey knew literally nothing about werewolves, but he apparently was acquainted with quite a few of them already, and they were all nice people; Jamie included. Glancing over Jamie’s shoulder for a brief second, he noticed a clock on the wall of the store. Was it really that time already? Merlin’s beard, he was supposed to meet his older sister ten minutes ago for lunch, some much needed bonding time since her job kept her away from the family most of the time. “I’ll definitely talk to him after the two of you figure things out. Don’t worry about it, I think you’ll be surprised in what he has to say about all of it. He’s not the type to give up on his friends.” Grey clutched the shirt he was going to buy tighter in his hand, forgetting that was the reason he was in the store in the first place, and peaked at the clock again. “Unfortunately I have to go. Supposed to meet my sister, which is always a joy.” Turning away from Jamie, Grey headed towards the cash register to purchase the shirt. “Good luck. I’ll see you in school.” Grey yelled over his shoulder, giving Jamie a small wave as he walked away. With that, he bought his new shirt and headed out of the store, on to his next destination for the day. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Jamie was glad that Grey agreed to stay out of her argument with Kyle, though he used language that was a bit coarser, in her opinion. The fact that she would be allowed to solve her own problems was still something that Jamie was getting used to. People always seemed to think she needed rescuing for some reason, but she had rescued herself enough times in the past year to recognize that she just needed a little time and a lot of words to get where she wanted to go from where she was. It was a good thing that Grey had to leave, because Jamie wasn’t sure how else to end the conversation in a polite way. “Have fun with your sister.” Jamie told Grey as he turned around, though she wasn’t quite sure whether she had meant the part about meeting with his sister being a joy seriously. She certainly hoped so – if Jamie got to see her sister after this shopping trip, she would be bouncing off the walls in excitement. Max was the best sister there was.
When Grey raised his hand in a wave, Jamie raised hers in response, and waited for him to walk out of the store before following a safe distance after, having nothing to purchase due to her allowance situation. With that thought in mind, Jamie Apparated back onto the front step of Aaron’s apartment, intending to start a conversation about that subject before the day was done.
