hello there, my name is lacey emerson but you can call me lace. i'm 22 so that makes me a alumniyear at Hogwarts, where I reside in Ravenclaw house. You could say I'm intelligent, knowledgeable, & witty but I personally think that I am quirky, morbid, & practical. People say I look a lot like Christina Ricci, but I don't really see it...

appearance:
Standing slightly below average at 5"1, Lacey packs a bit of a punch. Her soft human-like features make her seem very kindhearted but there are some things that stick out aside from her normal brown eyes and short, brown hair: such as her pale skin and her usual wardrobe attire which will normally consist of ruffled, fancy collars, long skirts, and just generally very old-timey, gothic looking clothing. She has the ability to also shapeshift back and forth between her human-looking form and the run-of-the-mill silver-skinned, yellow eyed vampire form that is slightly more resistant to damage. If ever she feels the need, she will shift to this form but prefers to look human most of the time.

overall personality:
When first meeting Lacey, one may first find her hard to get along with and reclusive; often sometimes a condescending know-it-all, depending who you are but once you get past that first, initial outer layer, you will find yourself a quirky young woman who loves all creatures from humans to spiritual beings. Lacey finds an interest in all things supernatural, causing some to find her odd or different. They aren't wrong; there are many things about Lacey that aren't conventional. Such as her morbid albeit quirky personality. Lace considers herself a realist, and will often point out the good before the bad only because that's just how she sees it. She prefers to be alone to read poetry, dark stories, study spiritual creatures, or really, just so she doesn't have to be around humans. Being this way all her life has caused her to just interact differently with people, to not understand many social queues. Which is why she will take solitude over company any day.
Though a Ravenclaw, Lace also possesses a few Slytherin qualities. She has always been very cunning, often enjoying getting back at bullies who harassed her or others by pulling some sort of nasty trick on them. She was fairly witty and even a tad manipulative with talking her way out of trouble as well. These traits have stayed with her always, and even today she finds an odd fascination in seeing bullies tormented for treating others poorly.
Lacey would sooner lay down her own life before biting a human being. The last thing she ever wants is to curse someone with the life she was born with. Though she has learned to be content with the life she lives, she still wouldn't wish it on others. She struggles the most with the scent of human blood; it is appealing to her and even after all these years it is still hard to ignore. Though she has learned to sate that desire at the blood bank, she will still often have dark thoughts of herself harming someone. Times like that, she is thankful she only has to sleep 4-5 times a year so she does not have to undergo nightmares of such things. A half-vampire by birth, she cannot stand garlic (probably also because her mother was allergic to it during her lifetime,) and she is very sensitive to sunlight - only spending minutes outside at a time if she can help it. She much prefers foggy and rainy days to do her errands.

personal history
mother:
Opal Emerson, muggle, deceased
father:
Malachi Darkholme, unknown
siblings:

history:
Opal Emerson was a muggle professor of history at a local university when she took on teaching night classes for the students who weren't fortunate enough to have the time to attend class during the day. It was on her way home from work one evening that she was assaulted by a vampire. Medical specialists were able to pump out the mysterious venom from the woman and thought that nothing else was wrong until nine months later. There were complications with Lacey's birth that caused her mother to have to have her by c-section, and miraculously, Opal passed away due to natural causes/birth complications and nothing that had to do with Lacey directly. (Though to this day, Lacey believes she died because the little venom Lacey possessed left Opal's body and it killed her.)
Lacey was put into foster care as an infant. From a very, very young age she knew she was very different. She had an odd sensation for blood, and though as a small child she knew this was wrong, she simply couldn't ignore it. She bit her first foster mother, landing her back in an orphanage where she remained until seven. It was then that a strange, pale man came to the orphanage one night seeking her out. He claimed to be her father. Being the troublesome, quiet child that Lacey was, the orphanage was just glad to be rid of her and put her into the care of the man known as Malachi Darkholme.
It wasn't long after that that Lacey learned what she really was: a half-vampire, like all the stories she had read about and repeat to scare the other children in the orphanage. At first, Lacey was excited - she was actually a vampire! She thought it was going to be so fun to have enhanced abilities and she already never slept, so no more weird, sleep tests like at the orphanage. Needless to say, she was excited for her new life... Until she learned that being a vampire did mean you had to bite humans. And this was a concept Lacey was not okay with, even from a young age. She was not comfortable with harming another living being but her family (or rather, coven) told her it was the only way to survive. So she had to partake, hating herself a little bit more every time she did.
It was a huge shock when Lacey got a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. There had been wizards in Malachi's family in the past, but not in years. Lacey, on the other hand, was happy to be getting away from the coven for a while. Though she worried about how she would eat at school... how she would fair with all of the human children. She hadn't been around them in so long, she was afraid she would hurt someone. Though upon arrival (and after her sorting into Ravenclaw house,) she was approached by the potions teacher, who explained that he would personally be paying a visit to a place known as the "blood bank" weekly to get food for Lacey. She had never known that there were alternative ways to getting food other than biting humans and she could not have been happier.
Summers back home were not so happy. After discovering the blood bank, Lacey would take random trips during foggy or rainy days to town to visit the blood bank to sate her safe desire to eat. Her coven did not like this alternative one bit. Lace would spend the majority of the summers hiding the fact that she ate this way from them, spending all day in her room reading and writing and knitting. She had many books and found a love for anything supernatural. Ghosts, aliens, you name it. She found it all so fascinating and began to research how she could make a career out of it.
The years at school went by and they weren't anything special. Lacey kept mostly to herself though she had a few good friends who did not judge her for what she was, and she loved them for that. There were bullies aplenty but she knew how to take care of them. She had developed a incontrovertible sense of humor that helped her deal with such cold-hearted souls that were hellbent on tormenting her. Same with her "family." The coven's patience with Lacey's lack of thirst for actual human blood and the absence of her during feedings was running dry. Malachi eventually confronted her, giving her the option to adapt or leave. Lacey, being the thick-skinned and independent woman that she always has been, obviously chose the latter and at eightteen she moved out and found her own place.
When Lacey had graduated, she found herself in love for the first time with a Quidditch player for the all-womens team, the Holyhead Harpies. Her name was Daphne and Lacey fell hard. Daphne was Romanian and didn't judge Lacey for who or what she was, plus she was beautiful and talented: all things that Lacey admired deeply. The pair dated for three years, even moving in together. During that time, Daphne became an even more successful Quidditch player and Lacey established herself in the Ministry with a job in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, of course in the Spirit Division, just like she always wanted.
Lacey's seemingly perfect life came crumbling down fairly recently. After all of the devastating attacks at the Ministry and then at Hogwarts, Lacey thought things could really not get worse. But of course she spoke to soon. One night Lacey returned home to find Daphne with another person, a man that played for Puddlemere United. Lacey was crushed, to say the least. After throwing one of the biggest tantrums of her life, Lacey demanded that Daphne move out and luckily she complied. When in such a fit of anger, Lacey can often get more of a bloodlust, but luckily in this instance she was able to keep it under control.
Since the breakup, Lacey has been keeping mostly to herself as she works her way through life and the Spirit Division, hoping one day to be head of the department. Until then, she is staying out of the way of any sort of conflict as she feels that an impending war is about othe befall the wizarding world, and she has no interest in becoming a part of its bloodshed.
