ranger flinched a little as he felt emily take his hand. he hadn't even realised she'd sat down beside him against the wall as he knelt next to his mother, her hand still in his, his eyes on her face as if trying to burn it to memory. he was still hoping a little that this was a dream. he put his mothers hand down gently on the floor so he could lift his hand to his face and wipe the tear that had settled there. he took in a shaky breath as he tried to work his hand out of emily's. "w-we need to call the aurors .. or .. someone" he said as he kept his eyes on his mother and he moved to push himself off the floor, pulling his hand from emily's grasp as he did. "my wand" he said as he moved to the pile of rubble that had been the wall that seperated the kitchen from the hallway. he pushed the pieces of wood and stone away as he searched through where he saw his wand had gone.
he kept his casting hand against his torso as he looked through, now he wasn't sobbing his heart out he could feel the pain in the back of his shoulder growing. he sniffed a little and used the end of his sleeve to wipe his eyes again as he finally found his wand and gripped it between his fingers. now he had the wand he .. wasn't sure what to do. while he'd been looking it had been something to do. now there was nothing to do but sit with his mother or go sit with his brothers and their father. both was too painful to think about so he sat on his knee's in the hall for a moment, looking at the pile of rubble. "drew and zander" he mumbled to himself as he sat up and he looked back at emily. "drew probably needs y-you" he said, sniffing a little as he looked past her at his mother again and forced his gaze away. he didn't know what was worse. the fact he couldn't look at her anymore or the fact that he was scared if he looked at her he'd never be able to stop.

Zander didn't move while his brother brought a blanket to him and wrapped it around his shoulders. When Andrew turned him, Zanders eyes lifted to catch his brothers face. He heard the words Andrew said and he nodded. He understood that was going into shock now, and that he had stopped breathing. He followed Andrews example, trying to breathe more steadily. He felt terrible that Andrew had to do this for him. Andrews parents were dead too. Andrew was the oldest now. Andrew was crying. Andrew needed help, too. Once Zander had gotten control of his breath his eyes seemed to regain their color, as well as his face. He reached up and both a hand on Andrews shoulder with a tight grip. "I'm okay," he said. And he really was, in a way. He was seeing his responsibilities clearly. First of all, he realized that life was short and that he couldn't live another day without Bay really understanding how much he loved her. Sure, she understood but there was something more. Something he was missing. This realization came so suddenly and warmly that he almost, almost smiled. "Hey," he said, moving his hand from Andrews shoulder in order to take his brothers hand instead, "come on," he pulled, using Andrew to lift himself up and hopefully Andrew as well. They had to take care of their parents bodies and Ranger right now. They had to move on. At least for the night. @emily @ranger andrew ethan astor-shaw

Emily wasn't surprised that Ranger winced at her touch. It made sense that someone in this situation would be incredibly more susceptible to prefer loneliness and were much more easily startled. He left her, standing to go search for his wand and that's when Emily noticed. There was something wrong with his shoulder. She gave him a moment to find his wand and continue to the hallway before standing herself, keeping an eye on him all the while. He looked at her at the mention of his brothers, saying that Andrew probably needed her. She nodded, "yes, I'm sure he does. But," she took a step toward him, "you're injured and he's not. May I?" she pointed at his shoulder. She didn't know that much about healing but she did know that she was the only person in this house right now who had the ability to think logically and make decisions. She knew that things were going to be very different now, as well. She knew that her and Andrews plans would have to be fast forwarded, which she oddly didn't mind. She also knew that these boys had just lost their mother and she, simple Emily, was now the oldest female involved with the family at this close of a range. Which meant, at least in her eyes, that she had the duty and the desire to help in any way she could. A part of her already knew that this meant she was about to become and even bigger part of the Lloyds then she already was. She was ready to take on that responsibility. @ranger @zander andrew ethan astor-shaw

@ranger @zander @emily Andrew felt his own tears stop as he breathed with Zander. Well not stop, but slow. He didn't know if they would ever stop. Then, once Zander's eyes had cleared and his lips weren't blue, he put his hand on Andrew's shoulder. "I'm okay." He said. How was that even possible? Was it possible to be okay in a situation like this? He didn' think so, bu he nodded anyway. It would be okay, later. Much later. Zander stood up, helping Andrew stand as well. Andrew knew they had to take care of this, they had to call someone, and get out of there. Andrew took a moment as he stood there to take one more calming breath. He could do this. When he opened his eyes, he was determined to not cry until after this was taken care of. He held up his wand and cast his patronus, "Tell the auror department there has been an attack on the Lloyd home, two dead, four alive, assailants vanished." he said to the patronus, it dissapeared in a puff of silver smoke, off to deliver the message. "Let's get Ranger and wait out front." He said to Zander, then he walked out of the room where his dad's body lay and into the hallway. Ranger and Emily were in the hall. Ranger was kneeling on the ground, and Emily was holding her wand to his shoulder. Andrew's eyes went wide. Ranger was hurt? He had seemed fine... HE shook his head. Don't freak out. "What's wrong?" he asked both of them as he knelt in front of Ranger.

"yes, i'm sure he does. but, you're injured and he's not. may I? he glanced to the hand she had pointed at his shoulder. he didn't know how it looked to her but clearly she had seen something wrong with it. there was now way for him to look. he rubbed the back of his hands over his eyes and nodded his head a little. he didn't see the point in arguing. not right now. "sure .." he didn't feel like he had any fight in him at the moment. he swallowed and heard the footsteps of his brothers behind them but he kept his eyes down on the rubble before him. he felt ashamed, terrible and like screaming all at the same time. he'd hidden in a closet while his father and brother had been fighting. he'd let zander hide him away, some son and brother he was.
he heard andrew walk closer and saw his knee's as his oldest brother kneeled before him. "what's wrong?" ranger shook his head a little. he knew ranger was probably talking about what was wrong with him in that moment but it was a loaded question. what was wrong? what was right would be a better one. nothing. there was nothing right with what was going on, nothing felt real to him. "it's nothing" he said quietly, shifting a little to glance up at zander. they needed to get hold of chase. let him know what had happened and make sure he was okay. the people who had attacked them had left without killing them, but there was nothing to say they hadn't gone after chase. a slim chance but it was one. he pressed the back of his hand to his cheek and wiped it against it again, making sure it was dry this time. he didn't need to be bawling in front of his brothers. he glanced back toward the kitchen and then toward the bedroom where their father lay. "what are we going to do .."

Zander waited as Andrew sent the message and nodded as Andrew suggested that they get Ranger and wait outside. He let Andrew go ahead of him, waiting until he was out of the room before turning around and looking at his fathers body one more time. "I wish you could be there," he muttered. But in truth he knew that no one would be able to be there. No one would be able to even know what he was planning to do next, what he was going to ask Braelynn. He knew that he couldn't tell anyone a single thing about her. Because if they did this two his parents, an auror and his wife, what would they do to a traitor? He took in a deep breath and didn't release it until he was out of his parents bedroom, following Andrew toward the main room. He missed the first part about Andrew asking what was wrong and Ranger saying it was nothing. He stood beside them in silence until Ranger asked what they were going to do, glancing back at the kitchen and to the room where their dad was. Zander frowned, knowing this was going to be the hardest thing for Ranger to ever get past. For any of them to, of course, but he especially worried about his little brother. "Come on, let's go," he suggested, reaching a hand out to gently touch Rangers arm. He looked up to Emily for approval to get moving. @ranger @emily andrew ethan astor-shaw

Emily nodded and stepped forward as Ranger gave her the okay to look at his shoulder. She lifted her wand to better assess the internal damage. It looked like the shoulder was dislocated and there were a few broken bones on the inside. It wasn't pretty, actually. Internal bleeding was also possible. She looked up as Andrew asked what was wrong, speaking right after Ranger tried to dismiss it. "It's broken, badly. He needs to get to mungos," he needed someone much more experienced that she was to mend the shoulder. "We can wait maybe ten minutes, but if help doesn't get here by then we have to go," she added. She nodded in agreement as Andrew suggested they go outside and gave Zander a short smile. She shifted to stand where she could reach down to take Andrews hand and gently lift Ranger by his uninjured arm. "Come along then," she said, trying to ignore the fact that she may have just sounded like Mary Poppins. She gave Andrews hand a tight squeeze, smiling at him reassuringly. She knew the best thing for them to do right now would be to leave this house and never come back. One of them at least would have to come back, for legal reasons, but that wasn't important right now. @zander @ranger andrew ethan astor-shaw

@ranger @emily @zander Andrew knew his brother wasn't alright, he knew it wasn't nothing. Honestly, the second the question came out of his mouth he knew it was stupid. Of course he wasn't alright. No one in this house was alright. He pushed those thoughts aside and did as Emily suggested. He squeezed her hand back, then bent down to help Ranger stand up. Trying not to look at the wreckage around him, he thought about his stuff up in his room, but decided that he really didn't want it. Not tonight. "Let's get Ranger to St. Mungo's and then... we'll deal with the rest." He said. Suddenly there was a succession of quick pops coming from the front yard. Andrew's wand was out before he knew it and he had it pointed to the front of the wrecked house. If those scumbags had come back they would find another thing coming for them. The first figure to emerge was an auror, distinguished by his robes. Andrew let out a sigh of relief and lowered his wand. Luckily he had gotten a hold of his tears, so he wasn't currently crying, though they were dangerously close to the surface. "The kitchen and the downstairs bedroom." Andrew said calmly, without emotion. He pointed in the general directions then glanced at Emily for another dose of her seemingly unending strength. St. Mungo's. They needed to get to St. Mungo's.

It's broken, badly. He needs to get to mungos, We can wait maybe ten minutes, but if help doesn't get here by then we have to go," he shook his head slightly when he heard emily give her verdict on what his shoulder was like. it didn't feel that painful at the moment, he couldn't believe that it was broken and they needed to leave. more to the point he didn't want to leave. this was their home and their parents were still here. they couldn't just leave them. it wasn't fair. "it's fine" he mumbled softly as the reached toward him. he didn't fight his brothers when they helped him to his feet though, he didn't think he'd be able to actually. stubbornness ran in the family and it would be a battle he'd loose because it would have been two against one. "Let's get Ranger to St. Mungo's and then... we'll deal with the rest." ranger frowned a little and turned his head so he could look at andrew. "we can't leave t-them alone" the thought of leaving his parents alone in the house made him feel sick. there was nothing that could be done for them, he knew that but the thought of leaving them alone felt heartless to him.
as the pops sounded out the front, it drew attention to the front door. andrew raised his wand and jinx who had been sitting quietly by their feet suddenly stood up and growled into the darkness, the hackles on his back raising at the people who had apparated to their house. though it wasn't anyone they needed to worry about. he hoped. not everyone in the ministry was a nice person ... he knew enough to be sure of that. "jinx" he said softly, moving to reach his good arm down to touch the dog's head. the last thing they needed was the big shaggy dog to get defensive of them and try and bite an auror. it probably wouldn't end well. "The kitchen and the downstairs bedroom." he took his hand from the dog's head as the aurors hurried to where drew had told them, their robes flapping around them as they did. he chewed his lip a little as he waited for one of them to say something else. they couldn't leave now the aurors were here right? they'd have questions and need to know what happened. wouldn't they? he chewed his lip and shifted slightly as a twinge ran through his shoulder and felt like it finished in his gut. now that his body wasn't running on auto pilot with the shock he was starting to feel it and he knew it wasn't good. "can i sit for a minute .. i feel sick" he said quietly as he heard the aurors voices drifting through the house. talking about his mother and father's injuries and what they thought might have happened .. it wasn't something he wanted to listen to much longer.

Zander breathed a sigh of relief as the aurors came and Andrew gave them directions. One of them hung back to talk with them and Emily and Andrew stepped toward them to do the talking. Zander moved to Rangers side, taking his arm, "yeah, let's sit down for a sec," he agreed, gently leading Ranger to lower onto the porch with him. He was careful not to touch Rangers shoulder too much, but he did gently place his arm there too as he sat down with him. She moved his hands away once seated, placing them in his lap. He looked forward for a moment, seemingly staring at nothing before speaking. "Jinx is a lucky dog," he said softly, "he loves you."@ranger @emily andrew ethan astor-shaw(everyone gets one more post then i'm ending this <3)

At the sound of the pops Emily didn't jump, hoping for the best. She didn't tighten her grip on Andrews hand as he pulled out his wand ad waited as the aurors started to emerge. She sighed with relief as well, stepping forward with Andrew as he directed them. Emily nodded at him when he glanecd at her, smile in tact, before glancing back to the auror who stuck around to talk with them. She explained what she and Andrew saw quickly and frowned, "Zander, the older one out there on the porch, he's probably okay to give you a statement but the other boy has some internal damage in his shoulder and we'd prefer it if you didn't ask him too many questions just yet," she didn't know how Andrew felt about it, but that was her decision on the matter and laid it right out. She gestured to the house behind them, "we also need to discuss temporary housing for Ranger til Andrew and I get this all worked out," she added. @ranger @zander andrew ethan astor-shaw

@ranger @emily @zander Andrew didn't want to impose on Emily, and he knew she didn't like people seeing her house, but this was sort of a difficult circumstance. "Could Ranger and I just stay at your house?" he asked, suddenly feeling really tired. This day... he wished it was over, then he could sleep and try to forget that he didn't have parents anymore. He let the auror's do their thing and he would just stay here with the people he loved, the people he had left. "We should let the Auror's work. he said softly.

"Jinx is a lucky dog, he loves you." ranger nodded his head lightly as they sat on the porch. he didn't think he needed to answer zander. the dog was proving the words. he had followed them to the porch, that was now covered with part of their house, and was sitting quietly before them at their feet. though the dog was keeping an eye on andrew too, ranger could tell. he rested his head down on his brothers shoulder as he heard people talking around them. people talking to them and at them. he didn't pay attention to it. how could he. their parents were dead. no words would change that and nothing the aurors could say or do would change the fact. though there were a few words that stuck in his head, enough to make him lift his head from his brothers shoulder and he frowned. we also need to discuss temporary housing for Ranger til Andrew and I get this all worked out," did she mean away from his brothers? she couldn't have. right now that was the last thing he wanted. he shook his head a little and shifted on the steps. "you can't just send me away somewhere!" he almost yelled at her so she'd hear him. the hum of people talking and spells being cast in order to clean up some of the mess was buzzing in his ears.

Zander jumped when Ranger yelled, apparently missing Andrews comment about staying with Emily. Zander put a hand on Rangers shoulder., the not injured one. "Hey, it's going to be okay. Emily and Andrew will take care of you," he said softly. As the aurors, Andrew, Emily and the medics started preparing to leave, Zander turned back to Andrew, pulling him aside. "You guys go ahead without me," at the looks on his brothers face he shook his head, "I'm fine. Go on."Soon they were off to Mungos and Zander took one last look at the house before turning away, taking a deep breath, and making the walk home... @ranger andrew ethan astor-shaw@emily (le end of thread)
