overall personality:
I strive to get good grades in all of my classes. I spend a lot of time studying in the library instead of doing other things. Mainly because I just don't enjoy hanging out with other people. That, and others don't much enjoy being around me. I like to think of myself as one of the smartest people around, even if I'm not. I've got quite the ego when it comes to intelligence. I like to prove people wrong, telling them I'm right when they are not. People don't much care for my attitude. I really hate when people are much smarter than me. I especially don't like Ravenclaws. Mainly because I very desperately wanted to be sorted into Ravenclaw as a first year but when I got into Hufflepuff instead, I guess I just felt jealous toward anyone in Ravenclaw. I'll never admit to that, though.
Some say I have a "devil may care" attitude. I'm not very adventurous, but I care little for the feelings of other people and when I have something on my mind, I say it. usually at the expense of someone else's feelings. I waste no time calling out the liars, I like to think of myself as an honest person. It's a blessing and a curse. Being so brutally honest makes me a good friend and a worthy opponent.
Although I may have a hard shell, I'm a softie on the inside. I love animals. My cat means the world to me. As do my brothers and my close friends. I would do anything for those people. I hate seeing them get hurt and I would truly do anything to protect them. My brothers used to tell me I was a brave older sister. I just think I play the big sister role well. While W do have those I hold near and dear to my heart, it takes a lot to get there. I don't trust people very well. It may be just because I don't like most people in general but I also believe that not everyone is a very genuine individual. I guess i'm afraid of getting hurt by strangers, too. But you would never hear that from me.

history:
Alice is the eldest of Neville and Hannah Longbottom, named after her grandmother and great grandmother. From a very young age she began kicking and screaming, always having something to say about everything. Her parents weren't sure where she inherited such an outspoken attitude but it wasn't from them. It wasn't long until Alice became an older sister; in fact, she can't even remember being an only child because her first brother was born when she was one year old. For a long time she was always going out of her way to steal the spotlight from her brother, often making him cry because she took his binky or was scaring him. This landed her in a lot of times outs and made her quite the cross toddler. Things never really improved throughout her young childhood.
Alice was in constant competition with her brother. Always competing for the affection and attention of their parents. Alice usually giving up and throwing a fit until she was sent to her room, automatically giving her brother the win. Until she was eight, this attitude and competition continued. By then, Alice had already had another brother but things still never got better between she and her first brother. She often left the youngest alone. Neville saw her attitude as a constant problem and decided that his daughter needed an outlet for her frustrations. He sat her down one day and began reading her his book of Herbology plants. Alice sat contently listening, knowing that she had the attention of her father and her brother didn't. Her father told her that she could keep the book to read as long as she stopped fighting with her brother. Alice enthusiastically agreed, not only because this brought her attention, but also because she was mesmerized by the book. The pictures and the words that just came at her in the hundreds. She was simply blown away. It was then that she sat down and read this book for three days straight until she had finished it. She asked her parents for more books and so Alice's love for books was born.
Alice received her first letter to Hogwarts at the same age all first years do. Her parents had told her that with her knowledge from all the books she had already read, there was a good chance that she would probably be sorted into Ravenclaw; a house for many intelligent people all thrived on the knowledge they got from books. This excited Alice, and she couldn't wait to go. Upon boarding the Hogwarts Express, she met many other young children who seemed very intelligent and she informed them of what her parents had told her about Ravenclaw with pride. Older Ravenclaws looked down on her with approving nods. Then at the Sorting, when Alice's name was called she happily skipped up to the stool. After a few moments of pondering and the hat muttering some words about who her father was, he called out, "HUFFLEPUFF," and as the entire Hufflepuff table cheered for a new badger, Alice felt the excitement leave her body and her face tighten into a frown. She slowly made her way over to the rest of her Hogwarts career.
In a year, Alice learned to love her house. She realized that there were many intelligent people in Hufflepuff, too. And her mother was a Hufflepuff, so she had no reason to be ashamed anymore. She met new friends but found herself to be too shy to talk to too many. She stuck to just a small group of people around her same age; people she would continue to stick with throughout her years at Hogwarts. Alice also developed an unacknowledged jealousy toward Ravenclaws. She prefers to just stay away from all Ravenclaws, not wanting to be shown up by any of them.
In Alice's third year, she began taking Care of Magical Creatures. She especially liked this class because she thought it was so amazing being up close and personal with such majestic creatures. She really took a liking to all animals and developed a lot of her extra time to studying even non-magical creatures. She hopes to one day work closely with animals but has yet to determine whether or not those animals will be non-magical or not.
