hello there, my name is Ramsey Naidoo but you can call me Rams. i'm seventeen so that makes me a seventh year at Beauxbatons, where I reside in Hufflepuff equivalent house. You could say I'm hard working, patient, & loyal but I personally think that I am outgoing, spontaneous, & fierce. People say I look a lot like Alexandra Shipp, but I don't really see it...

overall personality:
Ramsey prides herself in being different than many other people. For one, she is very open about her sexuality and her preferences and makes no effort to hide them for she believes she shouldn't have to hide who she truly is. She is also very outgoing and loves meeting new people. However, she can be a little hands on when she does meet new people - greeting them with friendly hugs or handshakes. Ram just loves to be near and close to people. Any people! She adores all people from any culture or background! Ram loves to learn and will never stray away from even the smallest lesson. The mind can never know to much! With that, her clothing isn't always the most conventional. It will range from normal looking sundresses to colorful sewn together skirts and jumpers her mother or grandmother make her (or that she tried to make herself and failed miserably!)
Usually positive and uplifting, Ram will always try to help those around her whether it be with positive reinforcement and advice or a spontaneous trip for ice cream. Ram rarely plans for things because then there is the possibility of let down if said plans fall through. No, Ramsey Naidoo much prefers to do things on a random whim. She rarely thinks before she acts which can often get her into trouble but she likes to think she can talk her way out of anything with her positive attitude (which isn't always true.)
With her outgoing personality, Ram can also be quite fierce and catty if need be. She will not stand for hateful people and will always defend the underdog or anyone in need. She is not one to be trifled with, for she is quite gifted in the area of hexes and charms and would not hesitate even a moment to use one of them on someone who was being hateful. She's got quite the mouth on her, and with the spontaneity that Ram has she rarely thinks before she speaks which, again, can get her into a lot of trouble. But the good thing about Ramsey is she never backs down from a fight.

history:
Emmanuel Naidoo had grown up in a well versed wizarding family in South Africa and had attended, like many in his family before him, the African wizarding school of Uagadou. Once graduating with top marks, Emmanuel began to make his way to the Ministry where he hoped to one day gain a position in the higher office. Emmanuel started work as an Auror in Africa and was sent out in the field to take care of questionable activity near Eygpt. It was here that he met French muggle archaeologist Sabine Durand. It was unplanned, the connection they seemed to have, but the two could not deny their strong mutual attraction and interest in one another. Before they knew it, they were traveling back and forth to France and South Africa whenever the other could afford to.
Over time the two fell deeply in love and Sabine found out she was pregnant while traveling back to France from Turkey. Worried, of course, Emmanuel caught the first plane to France to see his love. The two were overjoyed. Sabine began to settle down a bit, but Emmanuel could not stay in France. It was decided that Sabine would move to South Africa to be nearer to Emmanuel and she settled to work in a musuem there until her pregnancy was over.
Nine months later, a beautiful baby girl was born. Ramsey (named after the 11 pharaohs named Ramsesses,) Paloma Naidoo was healthy and happy! Sabine and Emmanuel could not have been happier! Shortly after her birth, Emmanuel was even promoted to the equivalent of the Junior Undersecretary of the UK Ministry at the African Ministry and the Durand-Naidoo family could not have been happier. It wasn't until Ramsey was about four or five that she began to show signs of magic, conjuring up canaries or attracting canaries to their home. Sabine found this odd, as she did not yet know of the magical world. After a few months and much deliberation, Emmanuel finally confessed what his job really was (Sabine had previously thought he held an important job in a housing development business office,) and Sabine took it surprisingly well. She had figured something supernatural was going on with Ramsey and she accepted both her partner and her daughter for who they were.
When Ramsey was nine, Sabine decided it was time to go back to France to continue her studies at her usual firm. Emmanuel was saddned by this as he could not go back with her. So the two decided to marry! Much to young Ramsey's delight! The two had a beautiful marriage on the beach of the ocean with only close friends and family and Ramsey was so delighted to get to witness her parents' marriage. However, it was around this time that Ramsey had begun to think to herself how odd it would be to marry a man. She was young still, however, and tried not to think much about marriage after that.
The family decided that they would visit one another frequently, and Ramsey felt so happy that her parents knew they could make a long distance relationship work. When Ramsey was ten, she made the decision to want to spend some time in France with her mother. Her father agreed it would be good for her to see other cultures so Ramsey was off to France. She spent an entire year there (her father came to visit,) and she fell in love. Sabine lived in Paris, so Ramsey was in the middle of all the hustle and bustle! She caught on quickly to the language since it was her mothers' native tongue and she even took classes to further her education. She also studied English during that time as well and soon enough she was successfully bilingual!
The spring of Ramsey's eleventh year was a big one. She had spent the last few months back in South Africa and was making the transition once again to move to Paris for the next few (she was lucky enough to be homeschooled by both of her parents!) When the family was enjoying a nice French dinner in, they received an owl. It was nothing odd; Ramsey and Sabine both had seen owls come to Emmanuel from work before but the letter it carried was not for Emmanuel but for Ramsey. On it were the words Beauxbatons Academy for Magic. Emmanuel was, to say the least, ECSTATIC that his daughter had been invited to attend Beauxbatons. Though he had hoped she would go to Uagadou, Beauxbatons seemed perfect for her. Sabine was excited as well to see her daughter go off to a wizarding school. After the letter had been opened, it was only a few short months until she was off to school.
At Beauxbatons, Ramsey made plenty of friends fairly quickly. Having moved around between France and South Africa and being homeschooled, she didn't get to see people her age very often. It was a breath of fresh air to be around teens like her at last. Ram found that she excelled in Transfiguration and Charms, having a particular affinity for the latter. Learning about wizardry and the history of the school and those like it was thrilling to Ramsey. It was fun to see people from not just France there but also people from Spain, Portugal, and the Netherlands. She met many friends from different countries and she enjoyed hearing about their own cultures and trying a hand at their languages as well. Beauxbatons was, of course, the best thing to ever happen for Ramsey.
It was during her first few years at Beauxbatons that Ramsey also realized why she had had weird thoughts against boys as a kid. As she interacted with more people at the school, particularly girls, Ramsey realized that she was homosexual. Before that realization, she had shown no interest in the opposite sex at parties with her dad and so forth but being at the Beauxbatons girls (like the ones who were part veela,) just helped Ramsey realize that she was really into girls. She told her parents at Christmas her fourth year, which was when she finally made the connection, and they were supportive and happy for Ramsey and that was all that she could ask for.
When things started sounding bad in Britain, Sabine grew a little worried for her daughter who was away at school herself. Though Emmanuel, who had ties to the UK Ministry throught the African Ministry, assured her there was nothing to worry about and that they would be some of the first to know if there was. This calmed Sabine quite a bit. Ramsey on the other hand felt ready. If anything were to happen to Beauxbatons, Ramsey wanted to fight. Her father told her this was the wrong mentality to have and she rolled her eyes in true teenaged fashion but in her heart of hearts, she knew that if it came down to it, she would defend her own. It was saddening to hear of all of the young deaths, however, and Ramsey always had Hogwarts in the back of her mind. They were a sister school, after all. And no person deserves to die in such ways.
When the Tri-Wizard Tournament was announced, Sabine really grew worried. But once again, Emmanuel assured her that securtiy at Hogwarts had been upped by ten times and Aurors from several different international Ministries were stationed there. And on top of that, they would be able to go visit Ramsey. Though it didn't make Sabine feel better, it helped a bit and that was good enough. Ramsey was more than excited for the tournament. She planned to enter her name and exactly how she would do it. Now all she has to do is wait.
