He felt the wave of calm come over him as he got to the same level as her, glad that she wasn't angry with him. Her smile was enough to cause him to smile back, and he suddenly found himself wishing that he had shaved this morning. He nodded as she went on about the last time her father had to were dress robes at school. She had hit it right on the nose, but he was careful not to react in a way that would give it away. He stayed silent as she explained him taking Hermione Granger, whose named he'd heard before of course. He chuckled, "balls can cause a lot of drama I hear," he said casually. Then there it was again. That vision of her with some random guy. He cleared his throat, "so, since you apparently need a dress, did you get one?" he asked, again his voice casual. The she said it, that she'd enter the tournament. He knew she would, and that he would, and his stomach lurched again at the idea of going to Hogwarts this year. He raised an eyebrow at her, "think you'd win?" he asked slowly. Irina Rose Krum

Irina chuckled wryly. "I assume that's why they only deign to host balls during tournaments like the Triwizard. Too much drama of finding a date to the ball, not making other people jealous, worrying if you'll look like a fool on the dance floor," she rattled off reasons why balls were silly. Truth be told, she was excited about the idea of going to a ball. Rina may have seemed like quite the tomboy but there was a part of her that liked to dress up and look girly. Her thoughts wandered over to the new deep purple silk dress robes that were hanging in her closet back home; they had set off her eyes and complexion quite nicely, and felt really wonderful. They would be be a bit cold for December, but that's what a wrap was for. "I have, a new friend helped pick them out with me a few weeks ago," she responded, thinking fondly of Xanthippe and her not-so-secret love for Hugo Weasley. They would look adorable together at a ball, she thought. Briefly, she wondered what Dan would look like in dress robes, smart and handsome definitely, before scolding herself again lightly. "They'll do well with dancing," she said, thinking back fondly on the several ballroom lessons her mother had given her when she was younger. It had been one of the only times Irina could remember getting along with her mother; she had done well with the steps and she had been proud. If only that could have translated into her every day life.
"I would like to think I would win," she said slowly, the determined gleam coming back to her eye. "Father finished third in the Tournament, and I'd want to be remembered as someone other than 'the Daughter of Former Durmstrang Champion Viktor Krum'," she told him. She had read about the tasks her father had faced in his tournament, and last year they'd had an in depth conversation about what he did best and what he could have changed if he could go back. "What about you? Would you enter something so dangerous?" she asked, a teasing smile lighting up her face.

She had a good amount of reasons why balls were silly to list and he agreed with most of them. At the word jealous, he felt that weird twist in his stomach again and frowned for a second as he tried to sort it away from him. Then she said that she had indeed picked a dress and he nodded, "well, for whatever reason these dress robes are for I hope whoever you dance with isn't a complete tool," he said, his voice sounding oddly annoyed. He cleared his throat, nodded at her next words, "I'm sure you'll be able to hold your own on the dance floor, depending how big the guys feet are," why was he suddenly insulting this imaginary guy!? That determination came back into her eye and it was enough to bring his smirk back, halfway at least. "Me?" he started at her next question, his insides spinning with the joy of having a secret that she didn't know. That he was entering and that this was really happening. He shrugged, "I'm not sure. I mean, the danger isn't an issue," she said, looking up at her with his own testing look, "I can handle danger. I'm just not sure I'd be that interested in flaunting myself about," he chuckled, which matched his comment well even though the chuckle was because of his secret. He heard a voice coming from the house and looked up, "I think they're calling us in for lunch. You ready?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at her. Irina Rose Krum(Okay you wrap us up!)

Irina chuckled. "You really must think low of me if my hypothetical dance partner has such large feet and is potentially a complete fool," she said, wondering briefly why he had sound a bit annoyed at the prospect. Probably just that he wouldn't want to imagine Irina with any boy; he clearly felt protective of her and didn't want to see her get hurt. Yes, that certainly was it, there was no other explanation...right?
She watched his face as he answered her about entering the Triwizard Tournament. He looked like he was suppressing something, a laugh or an even bigger smirk perhaps. She was still watching him curiously when she too heard the voice yell out for them. Her stomach rumbled; she hadn't realized how hungry she was. "Perfect timing," she stated as they climbed down the tree. Once they were standing level, Rina couldn't help but look back up at him. He had probably grown an inch, maybe, since she last saw him the previous summer. That strange sensation fluttered in her stomach again; pushing it aside, Rina gave him a friendly grin. "Race you inside?" she suggested, and without waiting for his response, raced back towards the house to enjoy lunch with her family and friend.
