@edmund 530 <3 The second Edmund rolled his eyes Addilyn glared him down. How dare he? That was rude! All she did was tell the honest truth. Gosh, no matter how close they were as best friends, he did irritate her sometimes. He was such, such a drama queen! "Ugh, don't roll your eyes at me, Edmund." Addi shook her head at him and looked away, mostly at her poor ankle. Why did this have to happen? They were having such a good time and now this?! Was it going to be fixed by the time the Yule Ball comes around?
Addilyn was shocked when he got up and walked towards her. She still had on her angry face, very upset with the way he was acting. Why was he acting this way? All he had done was tell her to tell him the truth and how she was feeling. And that is exactly what she did and now he was angry with her? What was this, a rhetorical argument? Addi couldn't help that she still liked Kyle, she had liked him for a year now and he had never once, since he had been friends with Grey, never once was rude or mean to her in any way. So yes, it was hard to believe that he was saying all of those things about Slytherin's and yes, Addi didn't want to just hate him because of something someone else said. That wasn't okay. But Edmund...those feelings were new. They had just happened, and she didn't understand them yet but she did want to see how they would continue, or if they would even continue. But at this moment, she had doubts.
When Edmund glanced at her eyes and kissed her forehead, Addi looked away with a pout. She didn't get him right now. They rarely ever argued, but this one was a bad one. He was going back and forth with his feelings, angry, sweet, angry, annoyed. What was she supposed to get out of this? Addi sighed. And then the pain came. She had forgotten he was about to do something. "Ow!" She clenched the couch cushions and closed her eyes. But, the pain was over soon and it just felt sore now. Still slightly swollen, but definitely sore.
And then he was up. Walking towards the door. Addi hadn't even had time to thank him for what he did. He said he wanted her to be happy, that's why he cared. Well, of course he wanted her to be happy, she wanted him to be happy too. "Why would liking Kyle not make me happy, Edmund? You told me to tell you the truth and I am, and then you get angry at me? How is that fair?" She said this as he turned his back towards her, and went towards the door.
Tears fell down her cheeks and she lifted her hand up to wipe a few, but they were just replaced with more. "Where are you going, E? Why are you leaving? We don't do this, E....we don't fight and leave without fixing it...that's not what we do...." Streams of tears continued as she stared at the back of her best friend.

Edmund couldn't remember a time when they'd argued this badly. He wanted to fix it, but how was he supposed to do that? She liked someone else. And she'd told him at a moment that was supposed to be theirs. He wanted to date her, but all of a sudden she was acting like she didn't want it. He stopped, trying to decide if he should stay or go. A part of him wanted to go as far away as he could so he could let his emotions loose without anyone there, but the other part ... the other part wanted him to try and work it out with Addi. Even though he didn't know how that was possible. He knew she was upset, more upset than he'd ever seen her. And it was his fault. Maybe she would be happier with Kyle after all.
He bit his lip and closed his eyes before answering her, his back still to her. "I just don't want you to get hurt," he said in a low voice, now disappointed in himself. He'd hurt her more than Kyle did. He had no room to talk. He slowly turned to face her, his eyes the only visible sign of his frustration as he tried to explain why he was so mad when she told him the truth. "Because I didn't expect the truth to hurt so bad, Adds," he confessed angrily. "No guy has been nicer to you than him?" he repeated her remark from earlier, making the phrase a question. "Then again, why would I care so much?" he asked, his tone bitter as he quoted her once more. "I care about you." Another confession. This time, not one Edmund was ready to come to light, so he added on, "I've always cared for you. He hurt you once and I don't want that to happen again."
He stared at her from across the room, guilt eating at him. She was crying. His voice got quiet. "Adds, do you really think we can fix this here or are we just going to make one another more upset?" He hung his head and finally allowed his sadness to show through, though he knew she wouldn't understand it. "I'm hurting, Adds. I don't know if this is the right time to try and fix things with me. I'll probably just say things that I'll regret later." He told her the truth and waited on her. If she wanted him to stay, he would. He couldn't not be there for her when she needed him. But he desperately wanted to go.
As he waited on her, a thought popped into his mind . An unwanted thought, one he could hardly stand. Should he say it? Should he ask her if she'd rather go to the ball with Kyle rather than himself? He could hardly stand the thought and decided to wait. He didn't want to let her go so soon, he didn't want to lose that chance with her.

@edmund 179 <3 As Edmund quoted all of the things she had said previously, Addilyn finally understood how bad she messed up. She really hoped this wasn't the end of their friendship. Hearing the way Edmund spoke, the anger, the hurt in his voice, absolutely broke her heart. Addi shook her head, tears falling, staring at his back. "Edmund, I'm sorry! I wasn't thinking when I said that, you're my best friend, I expect you to be nice to me...I meant, I meant a guy that I like, a guy that I have a crush on...I just..." Ugh, she couldn't tell him she just developed a crush on him. That would not help the situation.
Addi shrugged at Edmund, anger rising through her again. "Fine, if you don't want to fix it, then go. Go do whatever you want. I don't want you angry at me for no reason, Edmund. This was supposed to be a good time! We were supposed to have fun and dance and be friends. And I had so much fun with you at the feast, Edmund...and now this?"

He couldn't believe it. She wasn't angry at him? He'd been mean, said things in an angry tone and all she was doing was apologizing and trying to explain herself. Not that her words made anything better at the moment. She was just rubbing in the fact that he was only her best friend, which hurt. But he didn't want them to be fighting.
Then she got angry. Addi didn't normally get angry, but when she did, she could dish it just as well as he did. It only took one second for her to strike a chord and make him furious. He wasn't trying to make it sound like he didn't want to work things out. What he was trying to avoid now was this! And with good reason. "No reason?" his voice was dark and dangerous now, low and quiet. Not the loud, angry voice he used against Will. This was something different. "We were having fun! Just like the feast, in case you didn't notice. And this isn't all my fault either, even though you want to blame me. Believe me, fights like this take two."
He moved across the room, pulling the door open and glaring back inside, though he couldn't look directly at her. "By the way, this is exactly what I was trying to avoid, Addilyn." He growled before storming out the door and down the hallway. He carefully moved through the castle and went outside, where he moved to the lake and stayed there for the rest of the night.

@edmund 155 <3 Edmund was angry, very, very angry. And she could see the anger; in his face, his eyes, his voice. Addi was shocked. She was silent. Her face was running like a water fountain, but she was silent. No sobs, no noises, nothing. She just stared blankly at her best friend. Was he still her best friend? "I had fun too Edmund! I did! I liked holding your hand, and dancing with you! It was nice!" but Edmund didn't care, he just wanted to get as far away from her as he possibly could.
And that's exactly what he did. Breathing heavily, she felt like she was having an anxiety attack as he left the room. What didn't he want to happen? Them? This argument? Dancing? What? But he was gone. Addi clenched her legs to her chest, held them with her hands, and cried the night away, falling asleep on the couch where she was left.
