Books lined one of the desks as a lone student with blond hair sat at the table and worked on the paper she had for Potions. At the moment no one was in the library which was odd and unusual but young Winifred was okay with that. She didn’t mind having the entire library to herself at the moment. Her class had just been giving the potions essay and she had a free period so she was eager to get started on her assignment. Whoever said homework couldn’t be fun had never done a project with her. She continued to work, looking over books, scribbling notes down, and writing part of her paper as she went. She was getting a lot accomplish when she noticed the time on her watch. She was supposed to have met her siblings ten minutes ago. Hopefully they haven’t sent out search parties yet. Winifred put back the books she didn’t need any more and checked out the books she still needed. She would finish her paper later tonight. She piled the books up, knowing she didn’t have time to take them up to Gryffindor Tower she walked down the staircase to the grounds, where they were all meeting at. She had already missed lunch but that was okay she still had time before her next class to hang out with her siblings like she was supposed to do, as they had planned. Neither one of them better had changed anything to the plans after she left the library or she would be very angry, though Winnie angry wasn’t all that. She couldn’t really be mad that well. She blamed her family for that. She had made it down to the ground floor and headed out the door. Someone held the door open for her and she thanked them as she walked out. She managed to make it to the spot without dropping anything and just let the books fall to the ground. Hey guys she said smiling as she sat down and picked up the books fixing them. She knew she was running late but she couldn’t help it as usual she got sidetracked. So what have I missed so far she asked wondering if anything could had happened in the talks while she was making her way there. Words: --- Tagged: @isaac . @xanthippe

Organizing meetings for the Meagle siblings had been Xan’s idea – of course it had been. She was the only one who really had to organize a way to see her brother and sister. They saw each other by default in classes, and in the Gryffindor tower, and at meals, and pretty much every other time, too. Xan hadn’t told her siblings yet about her trip to the hospital wing, since they hadn’t been around when her mother was admonishing her about her fever, but considering how worrying the results of the tests Nurse Blacksmith had performed were, the Ravenclaw felt like she owed it to her siblings to give them a warning before she went to St. Mungo’s the next day to get officially tested and diagnosed. She hadn’t told her siblings that the reason for the meeting was so dire, of course – Xan never wanted anyone to worry for her. Since she and Isaac had arrived there way before Winnie, Xan had been dancing around the topic for the last ten minutes, trying to hint that something was amiss without coming straight out and saying it. It was difficult, especially considering she was feeling rather feverish again, but Xan didn’t want Isaac to feel like he was being blindsided. She also didn’t want to share the news twice, though, which was why she avoided coming straight out and saying it.
When Winnie arrived, Xan breathed a sigh of relief. They were both there, and she could give her news. “Hey, Win.” Xan said, smiling at her sister. “You haven’t really missed anything, but now that you and Zac are both here, there’s something I wanted to tell you.” She really hoped that they weren’t thinking that she was going to announce her relationship with Hugo Weasley – that was old news, and not nearly on the same scope of severity. Xanthippe tried to look as serious as possible, but it was difficult for someone who was naturally so smiley and energetic. “I…I’m really sick.” Xan finally managed to stutter out. She hadn’t realized it would be so hard to say, or that she would feel so much like crying. “Like…really sick.” She reiterated slowly. “I went to the nurse on the first day of term because I’ve had a fever for a while, and she took some tests, and…” Xan took a slow, shuddering breath. “I’m going to St. Mungo’s tomorrow. To do some more tests, and to confirm.” The Ravenclaw bit her lip, and tried to smile at her siblings. “It’s not contagious or anything, but it’s…serious.” That was all she managed to get out before she had to clamp her mouth shut to keep from crying. This was bad. She was…she might be dying.
@win @isaac (The disease that Xan is sick with, Medius Ignus, is like a Wizarding equivalent of cancer – it's possible to survive it, but it's also possible that she will die. Basically, the disease renders doing magic near impossible, because Xan's internal magical supply is burning up and causing her fevers/sickness.)

@xanthippe & @win “Hey, Win You haven’t really missed anything, but now that you and Zac are both here, there’s something I wanted to tell you. I…I’m really sick. Like…really sick. It’s not contagious or anything, but it’s…serious.” she was sick? no she couldn't be. this year was supposed to be better than the last. they were almost on the home stretch of school, two years away from graduating and two years away from being able to all find their place in the world around them. his sister couldn't be sick. she didn't deserve that. how could the world just try and take it away from her like that. he shook his head and frowned slightly, his hand rubbing over the back of his neck. he was a positive person, so he needed to stay positive for his sisters. that was it. he'd stay positive and things would be okay. the thought of suddenly becoming a duo instead of a trio stung at his heart more than he ever thought it would and the fear that xan might die too much for his heart to take. so it didn't. he shook his head slightly and looked at his sister, reaching out to rest his hand over her arm, squeezing it lightly and he smiled slightly, trying to keep the smile on his face and the worry out of his eyes. "you'll be okay .. "

“Hey, Win. You haven’t really missed anything, but now that you and Zac are both here, there’s something I wanted to tell you.” Winifred was relief she hadn’t missed none of the meeting. She knew she was over five minutes late or so but she couldn’t help it. When she got to studying it was hard to break lose. So what’s up she said as she smoothed out her skirts. She had expected to Xan to officially come out and say she was dating Hugo Weasley, Winnie’s best friend, but that wasn’t the case at all. She frowned at the next few words that came out of her sister’s mouth. “I…I’m really sick. Like…really sick. I went to the nurse on the first day of term because I’ve had a fever for a while, and she took some tests, and… I’m going to St. Mungo’s tomorrow. To do some more tests, and to confirm. It’s not contagious or anything, but it’s…serious. Nothing mattered anymore. Not school, quidditch, or her clubs. Her sister was sick and could possibly die. Tears started to form in her eyes and she blinked them away. They were all just always so positive and these news was not helping it. Why did it have to be her sister? Xan didn’t deserve this. Then she heard her little brother say you'll be okay… Winnie nodded in agreement. Isaac is right for once she said with a small smile trying to get humor into the conversation to make Xan smile. No matter what happens though we are here for you and your going to be okay she said with more confidence than she felt she had at the moment. Words: --- Tagged: @isaac . @xanthippe

Maybe her siblings thought that reassurances that she would be okay were what she wanted to hear, but really, Xan just wanted permission not to be okay, for once in her life. She couldn’t remember ever feeling like this – not just physically, but emotionally as well. Xan wistfully thought back to when the worst thing that had happened to her was being discovered on the roof with Hugo. That had seemed like the end of the world, because she wouldn’t be able to be with him, but this was different. This was a thousand times bigger than Hugo, because if Xan died, then it wasn’t just Hugo she would be without. It would be her brother and sister, her mum and dad, her godmother and godfather, her friends, and Hugo too…and everything was just so overwhelming, and she didn’t want to be okay, because people who were okay weren’t allowed to burst into tears, and that was what Xan desperately wanted to do. But she couldn’t, because her siblings wanted to know that she’d be okay, and she couldn’t disappoint them. Xan swallowed back all of her emotions, trying to think of something, anything, that would keep her voice from cracking when she spoke. “Maybe I will be.” That was all she could say, because Xan wasn’t going to promise her siblings something that might not happen. She couldn’t promise that she’d get better, or event that she’d stay alive. Maybe was her best bet right now. “I just thought you’d like to know.” Xan added lamely. As if she’d had a choice in telling them. She had had a choice, of course, but it hadn’t felt like one. You couldn’t keep that sort of secret for long, especially not from the people you loved.

@xanthippe & @win "Isaac is right for once" zac glanced at winnie and raised a brow. isaac? that was sudden. usually only his mother called him isaac and that was when he was in trouble. "who're you calling isaac, winifred" he said with a light smile as he looked back at xan. maybe being positive wasn't the best thing to do, but it was all he knew how. he was the upbeat guy, the one who was optimistic and didn't think anything was impossible. he didn't know how to do understanding. he could try but he had a feeling it would make his sister feel worse about what was going on. he chewed his lip lightly as she spoke. “Maybe I will be. I just thought you’d like to know.” he nodded slightly. of course they wanted to know when their sister was sick. she was part of them, they were a whole. she was one third of that whole so if something was happening with her, they always wanted to know. "you thought right" he said as he squeezed her arm gently before letting it go, drawing his hand back to him to lean his arm against the table.

"who're you calling isaac, winifred" She made a face at him when he called her Winifred after she called him Isaac. I am so sorry I called you by your name Zac she said smiling a little. They loved to tease each other and sometimes a little fun was what you needed. She looked back at her sister wondering if there was anything else she wanted to talk about or might need at the moment. If there was anything she would do her best to help her with it. So is there anything we can do for you Xan she asked her sister hoping that she would still be open with them even after telling them about the illness. She nodded and said yeah of course we would want to know. We always need to know anything like this Xan. Me and Zac would tell you if anything happened to us because we know you would want to know as well because we are all here for each other. She meant every word that she said to. She smiled as she placed a hand on one of her sisters hands trying to be encouraging and letting her know that she was there for her. Words: --- Tagged: @isaac . @xanthippe

Her siblings were bantering, and Xan tried to work up a smile. Maybe they didn’t understand the severity of the situation yet. The diagnosis was still a work in progress, she was told, but Xan read a lot. She had read more than one book where someone fell ill like she did – with a high fever and little else wrong with them. She knew what that spelled out. Maybe her siblings didn’t. For one moment, she was thankful that she had been separated from both of them, and put in Ravenclaw instead of Slytherin. Maybe they could have the truth hidden from them. They didn’t see each other often in school, so she could hide her spiral into sickness. Yes, that sounded like a good plan. She could keep them ignorant, but blissful. Steeled with a plan, Xan actually felt a little better, and she even managed a small smile. There was a certain measure of guilt in her plan, especially since her siblings were telling her to do just the opposite, and tell them everything, but Xan didn’t want to take their happiness away from them like hers had been taken away. “Can we talk about something else?” She asked. “I mean…I don’t want this all to be about me. How have my two favorite lions been?” When she smiled again, Xan was fairly confident it looked real.

@xanthippe & @win "and don't you think about lying to us" he said as he figured the cogs were turning in xan's mind as to how she could probably try and keep things from them. that was their sister, someone who like him tried to remain positive, the problem was sometimes it was expected. he knew this was serious and he didn't want to be kept out of the loop at any point. "we know it's serious and if you hide it from us .. it's going to hurt us" he didn't know that was what was going through her mind but he had a fair idea. for sixteen years they had been a part of each other and he knew her well enough to be able to gauge somethings she was thinking. he was not trying to make her feel bad but they wanted to know, just as she'd want to know if there was something wrong with her. they were a trio, that trio didn't work if one of them wasn't around. “Can we talk about something else? I mean…I don’t want this all to be about me. How have my two favorite lions been?” he pretended to mock gasp and his mouth fell open and he made his eyes go wide. "more favourite than hugo?" he joked a little and shrugged his shoulders a little. "well i've been good. trying to come up with more things for me and lou to do to pass the time .. we've got some awesome things in the works at the moment" he said with a grin. his sisters knew all about his love of danger and the adrenaline that he got from the things he did, it was all part of who he was.

Winnie was worried for her sister. She would nothing more than to wrap her arms around her, whisper everything would be okay, and then poof everything be okay. Just like magic. But even in a world with magic it didn’t always work like that and Winifred hated that. As she sat on the grass there an idea came through to her head. Winnie had always wanted to work with animals after Hogwarts but what if she changed that to become a Healer. She could find out what was wrong with her sister, maybe even find a cure. She could start studying now and maybe that way it wouldn’t take her long to find something to help Xan out. It was worth a shot. She had before had a hard time deciding anyway between Healer and Mazoologist. She had chosen mazoologist because of her love for animals and wanting to help them. Now though her want to help her sister was greater. She hadn’t even heard the first part of what Zac said and then she heard Xan’s question about what was going on in their lives. Isaac went first. She rolled her eyes. His and Louis adventures usually involved Winnie having a heart attack if she saw them. The two boys were crazy but she was glad that he had found something he liked. She just hoped that they stayed safe. She shrugged a little and said I am just busy studying and practicing for quidditch. She had also gotten back to her drawing this year. Xan would never lie to her siblings. She would obscure the truth, but a lie by omission wasn’t as bad as a lie by commission. That was what she was telling herself, at least. She didn’t care if Isaac thought that hiding everything would hurt them – he was wrong. She could swaddle them up in soft half-truths, and then, if something were to happen, they would have something to cushion their fall. It made sense in Xan’s head, in some convoluted way. She had never thought herself to be self-sacrificing before, but that’s what this felt like; like she was the martyr for her family. She would get sick and be hurt so they didn’t have to. Xan was glad to move past that topic, though, scrunching her nose a little when Zac asked if they were higher on her list of favorites than Hugo. “I will neither confirm nor deny.” She said diplomatically. No matter what she said, she was going to get teased for it, so it was better just to slide out of that question.
“Please try not to get yourself killed.” Xan said, wincing internally at her choice of words. For all the times she had told Zac to be careful or not to get himself killed, he had never really listened, and now it seemed a lot more likely to Xan that she would be the first of the triplets to meet their maker. She jumped happily onto the subject of Winnie and Quidditch, smiling broadly. “You’re going to need all the help you can get if Gryffindor wants to beat Ravenclaw.” She said smugly. Xan wasn’t particularly into the whole Quidditch scene, but that didn’t mean that she couldn’t have a little house pride.
