@jamie Lost Boy by Ruth B <3 Family. A big, great, family. That was what Elias really always wanted. Don't get him wrong, he absolutely loves his mother to death. But she was all he ever had. He never had siblings, or a father, or anything other than his mum and Maria. And Maria he hadn't really got to know until they were both a bit older. So even though Elias knew he should be extremely excited about having half-siblings, he was nervous. Nervous for them. Maria was a crazy girl. And she was protective. And Elias didn't want any of them to get hurt. Granted, he had only met three of them so far. There were two brothers he had not gotten the chance to meet yet. Even so, he still had a spot in his heart for each one of them. And Elias didn't want Maria to feel like he didn't care about her, because he did, but he now had people in his life that he's always wanted, and he wants to get to know them.
It was a tough spot to be stuck in. And Eli wasn't so sure how to deal with it all. Maria's anger got the best of her, and that wasn't such a great quality trait she has. Granted, she was extremely sweet. But only to him. The other Greybacks, not so much.
Elias sat down on the front steps of Hogwarts. No one was awake yet. It was about 4:30 in the morning, and he wanted to watch the sun rise in the cold breeze. He had on a pair of dark jeans, a plain white t-shirt, and a zip up maroon colored hooded sweatshirt. He had showered, so his curls were hanging over his shoulders, still slightly wet. Elias was hungry, but he waited. He wanted to think about everything, he wanted to try to decide what he would do.

Late to sleep, early to rise. That was Jamie. She hadn't been this bad about sleeping since she had bitten Matt last year. It had only been two days since Maria had made her threats at the top of the tower, and Jamie had barely been in bed. She did what she always did when she was confused or unsure - she studied. It was helpful from the perspective that she was already two chapters ahead in most of her classes, but it hasn't changed her situation with her friends and family at all. She had finally given up on studying and was now wandering around the school. The Aurors who were stationed were looking at her slightly strangely, but once she put on a suitable enough sad face, no one seemed to think twice about her moping. Eventually Jamie found her way to the front steps of the school, and as soon as she saw who was sitting there, her stomach burned with anger. This was Maria's fault, really, but Elias hadn't done anything to stop her. Elias hadn't told her that he had wanted to be a part of the family and, if he didn't, then he hadn't told Jamie to the contrary, either. She would have backed off, if he had asked.
"Hey." She said, sitting down beside Elias on the steps. "The next time you want to tell me something, how about you just tell me instead of sending your cousin as the messenger?"

@jamie <3 A figure was walking towards him in the distance, however he couldn't see who it was. He kept his eyes on the sky until the person came close enough, and when he looked down at her, he felt a shock of joy in the pit of his stomach. It was Jamie. And he was actually quite excited to see her, to talk to her and apologize again for Maria's actions during their meeting with Max, as well. However, Jamie did not look happy. Uh oh.
When she sat down next to him and began to speak, Elias sat up and scrunched his eyebrows together. Maria? What had she done now? Elias shut his eyes and let out a long sigh before looking back at his sister. "Jamie, I'm sorry. I don't know what you're talking about. Maria? What did she do?" This was not the best start to Elias' day, and with the stress he was already going through, Maria was now just making it worse for him.

What had she done? Jamie could tell Elias what Maria had done – she had torn apart the Hufflepuff’s life with just a few well-placed words. It was easy for Jamie to bear pain that was her own. She could do that. But when people threatened her family, and couldn’t help them, Jamie was crushed. She loved them more than she could imagine loving someone, and here she was, putting them in danger. “Your cousin decided that it was a good idea to corner me in a tower when I was trying to do my homework.” Jamie said steadily. “Bearing a message from you, that you don’t want to be a part of our family.” Deep breaths, Jamie. Deep breaths. “And that’s fine. But then she…” Looked like she was going to attack Jamie. “Just kept talking, and talking, and insulting my family, and I got angry.” People didn’t insult Jamie’s family. They just didn’t. And maybe Elias didn’t want her family to be his family, too, but that didn’t give him, or any of his relatives, the right to insult them, and then threaten them further. “And she decided that the appropriate action would be to threaten to hurt the rest of my family with bodily harm.” Jamie let out another shaky breath. “So, great job, there. If that’s the sort of person you hang around, we don’t want you.” Jamie stood up slowly. “Have fun with your psycho cousin, alone.” And with that, Jamie turned on her heel, and prepared to walk away.

@jamie Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons <3 So, when Jamie began speaking, Elias prepared himself for the worst. Maria could've done something extremely bad, and Elias was trying to control his own anger. He didn't want anything bad to happen, but he felt his blood pressure rising as the words rang through his ears. His anger was rising, and, well, he was never really great at controlling it. That was something he had to work on...as soon as possible. "That's not fine, Jamie. It's not fine because I never said that." Eli spoke through gritted teeth, glaring at the ground. It was one thing to tell people things you had confided in them, but to tell someone a lie, and say that it was him that said it, was not okay.
Elias, being a gentle soul, figured that they would be able to talk this through and figure things out. However, when Jamie had the audacity to make unnecessary comments towards his family, he snapped. Elias stood up swiftly and walked right in front of her, stopping her in her tracks. He looked her right in the eyes. "Listen, Jamie. I understand what Maria did was wrong. I don't like what she did either, and I will be speaking to her. However, that does not make her psycho, nor does it give you any right to pretend like this is my fault." He let his facial expressions calm as he took a deep breath. "She's my cousin. She's the only person I've ever had, ever. So no, she will not be going anywhere and no, I will not stop hanging around her. If that is such a problem for you that you don't want to get to know me or have me in your family, then by all means, go." Elias gestured with his hands to the school. It wasn't what he wanted. He wanted to get to know the Greybacks, he wanted siblings. "But if you don't want me, then I have nothing to say." Her words had hurt him, whether he'd say it or not. Elias watched her, waiting for her next move.

Nothing was fine, Jamie realized, and there was very little chance that anything would be fine again, because everyone that she loved was running away from her, or she from them, and Jamie couldn’t survive in a world where she wasn’t allowed to love people. She was frustrated and more than a little confused, and now had definitely not been the right time to talk to Elias, because she was too full of stupid, self-righteous anger to actually hear anything he was saying, but also too full of it to do the smart thing, the responsible thing, and walk away. When Elias insisted that his cousin wasn’t a psychopath, though, Jamie scoffed. She would have used that terminology even if she hadn’t been angry at Elias and at Maria, because that’s what she was. “Have you ever actually looked at the definition of a psychopath, Elias? Because she definitely is one.” She snapped. “A psychopath is a person whose behavior is characterized by abnormal violence. I’d say threatening to injure a person’s entire family because of one indiscretion is abnormal violence, wouldn’t you?” If Elias had the audacity to say anything other than ‘yes’, then Jamie was going to be even angrier, which might actually be a good thing, because then she’d be angry enough to walk away.
“I wanted you before I even knew you!” Jamie fumed. She had wanted siblings since before her first run-in with Adrian, and now she was just gathering more and more into the flock. They were all wolves in sheep’s clothing, and there was something immensely comforting in knowing that there were more people like her. “But I cannot, and will not, give up the other four siblings I have just for the sake of one! So control your cousin, or kiss the Greyback family goodbye!” She hated this whole thing. She knew that it would be so much easier if she could just take the first step and walk away, but even in anger, Jamie was not good at walking away from people. She knew that it wasn't fair to threaten to take Elias's family away from him, but she also knew that she was the linchpin. Max wouldn't talk to him without her, and Aaron wouldn't even know he existed unless she gave a peep. Odette was probably still trying to digest Jamie, so she'd be more than happy to brush him aside, as would Adrian. It wasn't fair to threaten to take them away, but as Maria had so kindly said, and Elias had repeated, they weren't his family. “I have already lost so much for these people. I lost my mother for them, and more than one friend. I’m not going to make that sacrifice for nothing just because you start acting like you’re the only one who’s ever been lonely. Grow up, Elias.”

@jamie <3 Well, there was no holding back now. Elias knew this was going to happen. He knew that Maria was going to ruin everything for him. There had been times when he thought he didn't have any friends just because of her and her craziness. She drove everyone away, and it made it out to seem like Elias was this big baby that couldn't 'control' his cousin. Which is exactly what Jamie just said. His eyes narrowed at the girl in front of him. "Don't you dare insult my family, Jamie. I have done absolutely nothing to you. And trying to hit me where it hurts will not get you anywhere into my life, it will push you further away. I had no idea what Maria has done. And like I said, I will speak to her. But do not ever insult her again." His anger had topped over, and he was trying desperately to control his anger. Maria was the only person that had really been there for him, other than his mother. She was his only friend, his only family that he had known until now, and he wasn't about to let some girl he had just met bully Maria.
This wasn't how Elias wanted everything to happen. This was all going so wrong. He was so angry, at Jamie and Maria, at everything. At his stupid father. Why did this have to happen? And now Jamie was threatening him? If he picked Maria he couldn't know his siblings? Elias scoffed; he had never been this angry and upset before. "Goddamn it, Jamie! I will not control my cousin! She's her own damn person! And if you really have the audacity to threaten me with the one person I love, then I don't want you! I don't want any of you! If getting to know my siblings means I have to get rid of Maria, then it's not worth it." It may have sounded harsh, but there wasn't any other way for him to put it. If they wanted to get to know Elias, then they'd have to get used to Maria, as would she. And oh, Maria was not going to enjoy her next meeting with Elias, not at all. "I never said I was the only person that's ever been lonely, Jamie. And if you think I'm the one that needs to grow up, you should try to remember everything you just said to me. No sane, mature person would ever threaten to take away someone's new family for the family they've known their entire life." Elias was a sensitive guy. And when he was angry, he didn't just yell, he cried. However, at this moment in time, he was trying to hold all that in for the sake of his own reputation.

So, somehow it was okay for Elias’s cousin to insult Jamie’s family, but she couldn’t take what she dealt out? That was really classy, Jamie thought with a roll of her eyes. Elias really was being as much of a jerk as Maria was if he thought that her behavior was okay. Not stopping it was the same as condoning it, in her opinion, and Jamie wasn’t going to let that slide. She was going to insult whoever’s family she wanted to, as long as it kept her family safe. If Elias hated her enough, then maybe he would stay away from her, and then the rest of her siblings would be safe from Maria’s wrath. It seemed a solid enough plan to Jamie, so she had absolutely no reason to apologize to Elias, and even less of a reason not to insult Maria. “I’ll insult whoever I want, Elias.” She snarled at him. “And if you dare to give me a command again, I’ll show you that Maxima isn’t the only Greyback with teeth.” Jamie didn’t take orders, least of all from people who were pretending to want to be a part of her family. Maybe Maria was right, and Elias didn’t belong in their family.
“Well, it still doesn’t reflect well on you that she’s such a…” Jamie trailed off. There were any number of words that could describe Maria, and none of them were polite. “Glad to know we agree on not wanting each other, though, Elias. Now that you’ve said it, you have absolutely no excuse to talk to Maxima or Adrian.” She was already turned away from Elias, so it was no hardship for her to walk away. Elias couldn’t pretend that any of them were his family if he was so blasé about Maria threatening to hurt them. Who cared if he’d known her his entire life? She was being a bully, and Jamie wasn’t going to allow any of the people she loved to be a ‘casualty’ as Maria so beautiful put it. Within moments Jamie had lost herself in the labyrinth of Hogwarts’s halls, far from where Elias could ever find her.

@jamie <3 "Fine. You can insult whoever you want, I can command whoever I want." Elias smirked at Jamie. If this was what siblings were like, then he in no way wanted them. He wasn't going to deal with such childish people. Jamie obviously thought she was better than anyone who crossed her path since apparently she can do no wrong. Elias had flat out told her he was going to talk to Maria, but according to Jamie, not dropping her off the face of his life was enough. He laughed out loud. "Ah, don't you worry Jamie. I've got teeth of my own, and I'm not afraid to use them."
Elias rose a brow. "Well, sweetheart, you're not reflecting very well on our brothers and sisters, either." He was done with her. She was a complete ignorance in his life and if this was how she was going to act every time something stressful happened, he'd be happier without her in his life. "Don't you worry, Jamie! I'll talk to them! I've already met Odette, she's a doll!" He called after her while she walked away. Turning away from the school, Elias' body became stiff. His feet moved fast, ready to find his so called cousin Maria.
