Addilyn glared at her brother. It was dinner. During lunch and breakfast, she had tried to speak to him. She had actually been trying to speak to him for a week now. And for whatever reason, he always ran away as fast as he could. At first, Addi thought he had been joking and it was actually quite amusing to see Grey move so fast. However, now, it was a complete bother. They had just gotten closer, and now he was ignoring her again? It was like they backtracked a year and were unknown to one another again. Addilyn hadn't even had the chance to tell Edmund that Grey was ignoring her again, they had been so busy and Addi tried to keep it off of her mind instead of bringing it up.
But now, as she saw Edmund walk in, she smiled at him. He came and took his seat next to her and she felt a little bit calmer. Addilyn grabbed his hand under the table and gave it a soft squeeze, letting him know she was happy he was here. The food appeared on the tables, and as Addi began grabbing her food, her eyes went straight to Grey. She narrowed them, hoping he'd look at her and see just how angry she was. But Addilyn didn't think he'd do that either.
"Edmund...I have to tell you something. Something about Grey. It's been bothering me all week."

Edmund smiled as he walked into the Great Hall. It was time for dinner and he was relieved. Today was a busy day and he was glad it was almost over.
Even better, Addi was waiting for him at the table. Granted, they always sat by one another but sometimes it seemed too good to be true to think that they were actually dating now. He smiled when she grabbed his hand but something seemed off. He had no idea what it was, but he decided to give her a few minutes to tell him what it was. Then she was glaring across the hall and Edmund was confused. What was going on? He grabbed some food, trying to make it seem like everything was normal to an outsider.
He was about to ask her what was wrong when she muttered, "Edmund...I have to tell you something. Something about Grey. It's been bothering me all week." Instantly Edmund was on edge. What could Grey be doing to annoy Addi? And why was he doing it all week. "Go ahead and tell me then, Adds," he encouraged, squeezing her hand gently as he turned away from his food to give her his full attention.

Addilyn felt Edmund squeeze her hand under the table and she felt a little better. More safe, more protected. He turned his body towards her, and she felt a rush of comfort buzzing through her body. He always knew how to make her feel better, and Addilyn was sure he'd do his best this time.
She turned her body towards him and took a deep breath. Addi smiled softly. She wasn't even sure how to go about this. "Well, E, after I told Grey what had happened with Theodosia, he told me he'd go speak to her. I figured he'd let me know what happened." Addilyn turned her green eyes, finding the brown ones across the Great Hall. Her blood began to boil. "And he never told me. He never spoke to me. He won't look at me. It's exactly like before. He runs away every time I try to see him and I just..." She squeezed Edmund's hand, probably a little too hard this time. "I'm so angry with him."

Being with her just felt right. Even when he was doing nothing other than holding her hand and eating dinner, he loved to spend time with Addi. Everything seemed to work out naturally, come naturally. That is, now that they'd accepted their feelings for one another.
She smiled before she told him what was wrong and he smiled back, hopefully it was reassuring to her. His mouth fell open for just a second as she told him that Grey started avoiding her after talking with Theodosia. His jaw clenched and his eyes narrowed as he realized what happened. Theodosia told him the truth? He couldn't believe it. The idea that Grey would avoid Addi to protect himself was just infuriating. Edmund wanted to march straight across the hall and punch him in the face, but he couldn't. He'd end up with detention for sure. His free hand clenched into a fist, but he tried to keep the one holding Addi's hand loose. He knew there was no point, she was definitely going to see how upset he was, but he could still try to hold it in. The whole school didn't need to know he was angry. "I'm so sorry Adds," he said as he glared across the Great Hall at Grey. "I can't believe he's actually doing what she said," he mumbled on accident, his mind still racing.

Addilyn could tell that Edmund was angry... But why? This had nothing to do with him, and granted they had met the week prior but Addi didn't think they had become all that close. There was definitely something going on, because Edmund being this mad was not normal, not at all...
Then that was when Edmund said something. He had mumbled it, but Addilyn heard what he said. She let go of his hand, and turned directly towards Ed to look him in the eyes. "Edmund Windsor, what is he doing? And who is she, and what did she say?" Addilyn Slater was no longer hungry. She was angry. There hadn't been a time that she had been this angered before. Her blood was boiling, her face turning a light red color. She needed to know what he meant, and now.

Blast. She heard him. He didn't even realize that he'd spoken out loud, but maybe it was for the better, though he wouldn't wish her anger on anyone. She'd never been angry at him before. Upset yes but not angry and he was glad. She let go of his hand and he knew she was done. There was nothing he'd be able to do to calm her down, so he might as well just give in and tell her what she wanted to know. "She is Theodosia. The other day she followed me and told me that she had a conversation with Grey." He paused as he decided if he should tell her everything or only what she asked for. One look in her eyes and he decided everything. He didn't want her getting mad at him because he kept something from her. "She said she offered to leave you alone if he stopped talking to you, but she told me that he said no to that. Apparently he wanted her friends to leave him alone if he stopped talking to you. They both knew that would hurt you. I just, I didn't believe her when she told me that. I didn't think Grey would agree to it, but apparently ..." he trailed off, knowing he wasn't making anything better. "I'm so sorry Adds," he put a hand on her shoulder, searching her eyes. A moment later he lowered his hand. He didn't want to get in her way now. If she decided to calm down herself, he'd be here. But he had a feeling she wouldn't. Heck, he wanted to go attack her brother for this. Every second he thought about it made him angrier.

Edmund wasn't being slow when he told her what had happened. He told her quickly and calmly, but with a bit of worry. Good. He should be worried. Not for himself, not for Addilyn. But for Grey. And at that moment, Addi couldn't even comprehend who Grey was as a person anymore. She was disgusted with him. Addilyn's breathing became heavy. Edmund put his hand on her shoulder, then took it off. If they weren't in public, she would've kissed him on the cheek in thanks. But right now, she couldn't talk. Addi felt like she was seeing spots.
Immediately looking to where her brother was seated, she got up, and began walking, her fists clenched. Addi took a deep breath. She didn't look at Edmund, didn't even say a word to him. No one was looking at her, no one would expect that she was going to do what she was about to do. Even Addilyn didn't know. The whole school was in the Great Hall, but her anger overpowered her concern of being watched. This was the end of it, Grey would not hurt Addilyn ever again.
She walked directly behind him. "Grey Xavier, are you serious right now? You'd rather protect yourself then your own damn sister? I knew you weren't that good of a person. I can't believe you managed to fool me into thinking I actually had a brother with a heart." He hadn't turned around. But by now, the Great Hall was silent. All eyes were on them as she spoke loudly.
Grey must've thought she'd just leave. Her green eyes, filled with hurt, glared at her tall, older brother. Addilyn took a deep, shaky breath. Using her left hand, she grabbed his shoulder and turned his body towards her. She finally spoke calmly. "You're an ass." And with that, she pulled back her clenched fist, and threw forward to hit Grey with a punch directly in his left eye.

The Monsters walk among us For the last week Grey had done his best to avoid his sister. It killed him inside. But he knew Theodosia was there, always watching, and if she wasn’t, she definitely had someone else checking up on him to make sure he wasn’t breaking the deal. Grey wasn’t stupid, he had figured there were more Slytherins like Theodosia, she had mentioned at the end of their conversation that they would eventually have tea together, and he’d get to meet her people. That could have been a figure of speech, sure, but it had bothered him to no end. A fifth year could only act out so much without getting in trouble by professors or prefects, so that meant there were older students above her, dictating how she acted or covering for her actions. Here he was though, a week later, following the rules they had established diligently. It had been easy so far since they were in different houses and had classes at differing times. During meal times, Grey either snuck into the Great Hall and grabbed food quickly before leaving, or made sure Addilyn wasn’t there. It was pathetic. There was only so much longer he could possibly keep the charade up before she caught on though, and there was no telling what Theodosia had managed to worm into Addi and Edmund since their talk. Grey could almost guarantee that it had happened already. Today was no different than the other days, but this time he had been roped into sitting down at the Gryffindor table for a longer period of time than usual. A decent amount of time had passed since he arrived, so he took that Addi either knew he was actively avoiding her and took the hint, or she wasn’t present there. Grey still had a bad feeling in his gut whenever he was there though, it was the easiest place to find someone other than in the common rooms. The food he was eating was decent, but it barely had any taste to him lately. The whole ordeal had changed who he was in such a short amount of time. His studies, sleeping, everything was a mess. How stupid he was to give in to such a silly little girl like that. Suddenly, he heard a very familiar voice screaming his name behind him. He almost choked on the food he was eating as the Great Hall grew silent around him. Grey would have assumed it was a howler, but it was long past mail time, so that meant it was Addi. In person. There was no way that Theodosia wasn’t there watching. Everyone was, it was impossible to escape their eyes, drilling into him from every inch of the Great Hall. Grey knew the deal. He couldn’t look at her, talk to her, or give her a letter, anything. The only option was to get up in leave, like he had been doing all week. This is exactly what Theodosia wanted wasn’t it? He had never thought that the girl’s goal was to humiliate him and Addi in front of everyone like this. Grey started to reach down to his bag, hoping he could grab it before running out of the Great Hall. Before he could do so, he felt Addi grab his shoulder and whip him around as best as she could. It was swiftly followed by a punch right to his left eye. The stinging pain soon engulfed his entire head, his vision becoming foggy as his body tried to adapt to the sudden damage it received. Whilst he could barely open his left eye, his right quickly recovered, and he made sure to avoid eye contact with Addi. If only she had punched him harder, that way the pain would last longer. He deserved it. Sitting still for a few seconds as he tried to grasp the situation, Grey realized there were two decisions, of which he had to make one choice from: he could break the deal with Theodosia, explain everything to Addi, and suffer the consequences that followed for both her and Edmund, or he could leave. Reaching down once again to grab his bag and tossing it over his shoulder, Grey debated what to do. He stood up and walked out of the Great Hall. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Nothing. He did absolutely nothing. Addilyn couldn't believe it. He didn't even look at her, not one single thing came out of her brother's mouth. She watched as he picked up his bag, paused for a moment and then got up. Her heart was racing, expecting him to yell at her like he used to when she was a first year and him in his second.
But he left. He walked right out of the Great Hall. Addilyn felt all eyes on her. She didn't even care. Not looking at Theo, not looking at Edmund, her sister Claire, or the Professor's and Headmaster who she knew she would be speaking to soon, she calmly made her way out of The Great Hall before tears came rushing down her face. As soon as the door shut behind her, her feet ran to the Dungeons, in the confinement of the Slytherin Common Room.

She didn't hold back. Edmund didn't expect her too. After what Grey was doing, he deserved to be punch and she should be the one to do it. He watched as she marched across the Great Hall, calling Grey out when he started leaving. Edmund shook his head as he watched, thoroughly disgusted. Weren't Gryffindors supposed to be brave? Then why was he running away from his little sister? He watched the two carefully, which wasn't saying much since everyone was. This kind of drama was hard to ignore. Grey didn't say anything when Addi called him out, he just took her punch and then picked up his bag and left. Edmund had mixed emotions. He was proud of Addi for sticking up for herself, but he also knew how much this was hurting her. The fact that Grey didn't say a word, just left, made it even worse and Edmund knew she was going to be messed up. When she ran out of the Great Hall, Wdmund slid to his feet and slipped out after her, going as quietly as he could. Not that anyone who knew them would be surprised. Edmund always went after her when she was upset. He'd done that since first year. @jill2 grey xavier slater---the end---
