When Oscar said he would send her an owl, the situation became much more real to Anna and her excitement grew. Honestly, she couldn't tell what he thought about the whole thing, but he agreed to it. In a way, he even instigated it. That meant he was all right with it, right? She bit her lip to help contain a bit of her excitement. "That sounds great," she told him once she was sure she had her emotions under control. She could do this.
Anna didn't know what to say. What was she supposed to say? Of course the world would be a darker place. Any time good men and women (whether witches and wizards or not) were killed, the world became darker. He probably didn't want to hear her opinions about that though. He was still grieving. She could tell. Maybe that's why he was so touchy the other day. "I'm sure it is," she finally answered seriously. She looked up at his eyes, hoping he could tell that she was sincere. Sure, she didn't know his parents, but she was sorry for what happened. No one deserved to lose their parents so young and she knew too many people who had and saw the toll it took on them.
Anna smiled, trying to reassure him, "Well you don't have to be a scholar to do great things, you know. Just do your best." Anna firmly believed that everyone could make a difference, that everyone did make a difference with their life. Whether they tried to or not. The most important thing was deciding how. Some people did it on accident, but she didn't want to do that. She wanted to make a difference for a reason, help people in any way she could. That's part of the reason she wanted to be an auror. To make a difference. "Everyone makes a difference, we just have to choose what kind," she said, not even realizing she spoke out loud, she was so lost in her thoughts.
