Katya was the new girl. There was no way around it. It was nice that Hogwarts was hosting the Triwizard Tournament this year. She was able to see many of her friends, and those who went to her old school Durmstrang. She was taking time with the Durmstrang kids. She fit in with them so well. The only difference… She wasn’t wearing the crimson red uniform that she loved. But aside from being the new foreign student, she had both of her brothers at the school. Having there made it all worth it, but she did feel like it was harder to make friends. She loved her brothers, but when you had one in the infirmary, and one that scared quite a few students, she found it hard to make many friends. It wasn’t completely their fault. Katya wasn’t necessarily going out of her way to make friends.
School was out at this point, and many of the kids were going outside to enjoy the nice weather, before winter took over. Katya looked out at the green grass, and missed the snow. She stopped by a window on the way to the Divinations teacher’s office. She had spotted a quidditch team walking out to the field to practice. She enjoyed quidditch, but wasn’t sure if she wanted to be on a team of any kind. She did want to go flying sometime though, but she felt like she couldn’t just go out and start to fly. She could go ahead a try it, but not today. She sat in the window seal, putting her bag near her feet for a little bit, while she watched the team walk out, and she looked around seeing what other fun things she could find. After a little bit, Katya stood up and swung her bag over one shoulder and turned to continue up to the office when she stopped suddenly, realizing that she had almost ran into someone. ”Sorry I didn’t see you there.” she said with an extremely thick Russian accent.

Dastan was wandering around the school, not really doing anything or talking to anyone. It was so interesting here. Not in a bad way, either. He knew some of his fellow students didn't like Hogwarts at all, but he couldn't join them in that opinion. Maybe it was just the fact that everything here was different than what he was used to, but it was so interesting to him. He couldn't help it. He often found himself wandering around, getting lost. Occasionally he had to ask someone to help him, but he generally had a good sense of direction. He had every intention of understanding the way this school worked by the end of the year. And what better time to start than now? He was careful not to run into any of the other students as they hurried to their classes. Didn't want to make a scene or anything, but he couldn't help but get a little distracted every time he passed by a window. The view here was breathtaking.
He had no idea where he was, he only knew that he was on one of the higher levels of the school (thanks to the view from the windows) when he almost ran into a girl. He was walking down a hallway, a rather quiet one at that, when a girl suddenly stood up, spun around and started to move right where he was. Granted, she stopped herself before they collided, which was probably a good thing. He put on a smile, not wanting her to think he was annoyed. When she apologized it was with a thick accent, which made him curious. Why was she wearing Hogwarts robes when her accent was similar to that of the students from Durmstrang? "Not a problem. I saw you, I just didn't realize you'd be getting up so quickly," his voice was cheerful, hopefully she wouldn't mind the slight teasing. "Where are you going in such a rush?" Dastan couldn't help but ask.

Katya had no idea what was going through her head just moments before, she knew that she was heading up to visit her brother. Suddenly she was stopping, just about to hit a boy. She first noticed his uniform. He was wearing a light blue uniform that could have only meant that this student was from Beauxbatons and was here for the Triwizard Tournament. It didn’t matter too much for her. She like it, because she could still spend the year with people from her school. It made her feel less alienated in a new school. The second thing that Katya noticed was this boy's face. He was cute.
He spoke and his accent confirmed her suspicions. She was right. She felt a little sheepish, and blushed a little bit when he admitted to seeing her. She could only mutter a Sorry, I guess I wasn’t paying attention.” She took a small step back, so she wasn’t standing so close to her. This was for her, as much as it would be for him, if her brother happened to see them. ”I was going up to…” She paused. Realizing her opportunity here. She was in a new school. One where most of the students wouldn’t know that she had both brothers working here. ”To the Divination Professor's office. I had a few questions about the homework.” She was really just going to hang out with her brother. And if he wasn’t there, she would just play around in his chair and play with the things in his desk. But maybe there was something better that she could do right now. ”What are you doing up here?”

She was blushing. Dastan noticed, but he didn't really understand why. It's not like they actually collided or anything. So he tried to reassure her, hoping she wouldn't stay embarrassed for too long. He smiled, "Don't worry about it." He noticed that she took a step away from him and was curious about why, but didn't want to make an issue of it. Did she think he was dangerous or something? He could easily be offended at such an idea, but it was early in the year and Dastan wasn't interested in making enemies. He decided to simply smile and let it slide. She was being nice enough; surely she wasn't trying to offend him. "You take Divination?" he asked with interest. He'd heard of the subject, but never actually had the opportunity to learn much about it. "What do you think of the subject? Do you have a favorite method of Divination?" Das couldn't keep himself from asking at least one question about it. He loved to learn and knew that there were different aspects to divination. Crystal balls, tea leaves, palm reading. It was all part of the subject. At least, he thought it was.
When she asked what he was doing, Dastan shrugged and glanced out the window. "Exploring," he admitted easily. "This is a very big castle and I want to be familiar with most of it by the end of the year. The view from here is ... great." Understatement of the year! But another word wouldn't come to mind at the moment. Dastan had a gift for languages, so coming to Hogwarts and speaking English the majority of the time wasn't difficult for him. However, sometimes he forgot which words he wanted to use.

Katya’s blush did go away, but she smiled at the young man. He seemed quite interested when she told him that he was in Divination. It was an automatic and required class to her. Not only was her brother the teacher, but Katya herself was clairvoyant. With that, she had plenty of one on one training with Samuil, taking the class was still required. ”I really enjoy the subject. The teacher is great too.” She had to say that, but to her, it was totally true. ”I enjoy practicing tea leaves and palm reading is fun, but still difficult. But Divination, or seeing the future, is just another form of magic.” She didn’t mean for it to sound defensive, and she hoped that it didn’t come out that way.
Katya followed his line of sight as he looked out the window and she smiled. She was just doing the same thing, but she heard his responce to her question. It made sense. She needed to do more of that too. She could get everywhere she needed, her dorm, the great hall, her classes, and both of her brothers offices, but not much else. She looked back at him ”It is a really big castle. And quite confusing, especially when the stairs move.” Needless to say...Katya got very lost one day. She looked back out of the grounds when he mentioned the view. ”It is nice. I always like looking out and seeing what the other students are doing.”

Dastan nodded when she started explaining a little bit about Divination. He really didn't know much about it, but it sounded interesting. "It's good you enjoy the teacher. That makes the subject more interesting, yeah?" Then she got all passionate about it and Dastan watched her more closely. He loved it when people showed their interests in things. Firstly, it was intriguing, and secondly it was nice for him to realize that other people felt strongly about things, just like he did sometimes. He nodded when she said it was just another form of magic, "Yeah, but just like other forms of magic, some people are better at it than others, right? I have a feeling you're really good at Divination," he deduced. Why else would she be so passionate about it?
Dastan pulled his eyes away from the view out the window and turned his attention to ... the girl next to him. That's when he realized he didn't know her name. He'd need to remedy that soon. "It's huge," he amended when she said the castle was big. Big wasn't an adequate enough response. He couldn't help but nod his head when she said the moving staircases were confusing. "I got stuck on one the other day. I was exploring the castle before dinner and trying to get back to the Great Hall and got lost because they all kept changing. It's hard to map out the school in your mind when everything moves all the time," he added. Dastan wasn't biter, he liked a challenge. Hogwarts was definitely providing that for him. At her comment about watching other students, he leaned back toward the window, looking down to the grounds below. "Interesting," he mumbled under his breath. He hadn't even thought about people watching.
After a few moments, he realized he might be being rude and looked back at the girl next to him. "By the way, I forgot to ask your name. I'm Dastan," he introduced with a smile. Then he waited.
