@finn Need the Sun to Break by James Bay <3 Addilyn was a lost soul. Everything that had just been fixed, just been so perfect, was completely turned upside down again within the matter of a day. All of it, except Edmund. But even then, she had managed to run from him for a week. Her brother had just broken her heart into two, and she hadn't thought it would be good for her to be with Edmund, to be happy and in love, and risk her getting hurt by him as well. And yet, he had used his sweet demeanor and she had swung right back into that friendship. However, she still wasn't sleeping. She still wasn't eating. She was still smoking. Grey still wasn't speaking to her.
It was early morning. Addilyn had gone into The Great Hall before many people were there, just a few aurors, grabbed a coffee, and went up to the towers. It was a bit chilly, so she had on a pair of black leggings, a light green pullover sweater, and a pair of tall black boots. Her hair was down, her blond waves falling over her shoulders. She sat in the corner of the astronomy tower, her knees pulled up to her chest and her hands holding the warm coffee. Addi rested her chin on her knees, watching the sun rise. She took a deep breath and let it out, sad as could be.

Finn hated early morning patrols. He and Rai had played a game of poker last night, with the early shift on the table. She had fooled him with a great bluff, so here he was, puffy eyed and yawning, strolling around the castle before anyone else was awake. It was peaceful, he supposed, with no students yelling and running about, but he remembered last year when he was one of those rambunctious students, leaving the occasional dungbomb under a group of people he didn’t like, or trying to look good in front of a group of girls (with Fred relentlessly teasing him). What a difference a year made; he now really only had eyes for Dominique, and he was quite serious about his Auror training. Something his mentor Poe had obviously seen as he had been chosen for this prestigious duty so early in his training.
He made his way up the windy stairs to one of the towers; as a student he had loved to sneak up here to set off some Weasley Fireworks, so he imagined that a few months wouldn’t have changed much. He wouldn’t get them in trouble though; he’d just tell them to head back downstairs and he’d promise to say he hadn’t seen them up there. Sure enough, he pushed open the door and a girl was sitting in the corner by herself. He opened his mouth to say something, but then closed it, frowning. She looked so sad; he didn’t have the heart to tell her to get downstairs. “Are you alright miss?” he asked, then as he got a bit closer, he recognized her. “Say, you’re Grey Slaters’ little sister, aren’t you? Addison?” he asked, hoping he got her name right. Grey was one of his good friends, but he wasn’t that close with either of his sisters; Finn was proud of himself for at least recognizing her though.

@finn <3 Addilyn had been so into the sunset that she hadn't even heard anyone coming up the stairs to the tower where she sat. The voice made her jump slightly, and as she glanced over she saw a man who looked to be one of the aurors. He wore the same robes as Claire, so she figured just as much. He asked if she was alright, and once he got closer he asked if she was Grey's sister. Addilyn chuckled and shook her head. "Yes, I'm his sister. It's Addilyn. Do I know you?" Addi gave him a gentle smile.
She wasn't going to be rude to this stranger. Not only because he apparently knew her and Grey, but he was also authority and she wasn't about to go get into trouble. Coughing quietly, Addilyn took a big sip of her coffee. The wind blew, and her blond waves moved. Her green eyes glanced up to his dark ones. "Life could be better."

Finn gave her a warm smile. “I’m Finn Jordan; I think you came with your brother once or twice when he came to hang out at my house - the one by the ocean? Don’t feel bad if you don’t remember me, I just know Grey and now your older sister from Auror training,” he explained with a laugh. “You look a lot like Claire you know,” he pointed out, though he was sure she had definitely heard that before. It was a bit odd to him; he didn’t really think that Grey looked anything like his siblings, and he knew they had their… differences. That wasn’t any of his business though.
Finn cocked his head to one side with a frown, and took a few steps closer. “Do you want to talk about it? Sometimes talking through any problems to an almost stranger is better than hashing it out with your friends. Unless, you know, it’s unwarranted of course. But I’m happy to lend an ear if you want,” he said, giving her an encouraging smile. He’d had some experience in cheering people up with Dominique over the summer; he thought he had gotten rather good at it. Hopefully Addilyn would agree and she’d feel better after talking to him.

@finn <3 Addi forced a gentle smile back at him. He seemed nice enough, but Addilyn wasn't sure how much she wanted to deal with an auror. Of course, Claire was one, but that was different. She grew up with Claire. "I think I remember yes, the name sounds familiar, though." Her smile became slightly real, but it then disappeared when he mentioned that she looked like Claire. "Yeah, I suppose I do." Addilyn had recently begun wishing she looked more like Grey, but now, with neither of her siblings wanting to be around her, Addi just wished she wasn't a Slater.
Addi crossed her legs, and took another sip of coffee. He stepped closer and gave her a frown, and Addi gave him a sad smile. She looked down at her boots and bit her lip. Should she? He was obviously friends with her brother. She wondered if he saw her punch Grey; but if he had, he probably would've asked about it already. Addilyn didn't want to make Grey's friends hate him, but...she also figured that it might help to get an outside opinion. "It's Grey. We...we had started to become a lot closer this year. And then when I was being bullied, well, almost killed, mind you, he told me he'd talk to the girl. And now, he just...he's ignoring me. He runs away any time I come near him, and he's just being a complete ass." Addi looked up at him, he sadness showing throughout her entire face. "I punched him in the face two days ago."

Well, whatever Finn thought was wrong, he definitely wasn’t expecting to hear that. "Who’s been bullying you?” he asked finally. Finn had been lucky in school; with his tight knit group of friends, if there had been any sign of bullying, that person had about 4-5 people on their backs telling them off. Finn had also always been a happy-go-lucky guy; not the type of guy who’d be targeted. He felt bad though if Addi was being bullied; nobody should ever have to go through that. If she’d give him the name, he could probably bring it up to her head of house; Astoria Malfoy seemed like a decent woman, and someone who cared about her students.
Finn thought back to yesterday and remembered that Grey did have a black eye. Shoulders shaking, he turned away from Addilyn. “Sorry...I did see Grey yesterday with the black eye and he said he tripped over something. He didn’t mention it was his little sisters fist,” he said. The laughter bubbled out of his mouth and he slapped his knees, letting the laugh fill the room. “Nice job by the way, looks like you have a mean right - or left - hook,” he added as the laughter subsided.

@finn <3 Her eyes looked up into his dark ones when he asked who was bullying her. It wasn't like he'd know the girl, but Addilyn didn't think he'd be able to do anything about it either. He was just an auror, he wasn't staff or the Headmaster. And either way, Theodosia wouldn't stop. That wasn't who she was. She'd figure out a way to hurt Addilyn, any way possible, without it tracing back to her. That was what scared her, that something would happen to her and she wouldn't see it coming. "A fifth year. Her name is Theodosia Washington."
Finn began laughing, and Addilyn couldn't help the smile that adorned her face slowly. He had a goofy laugh, and she was glad at least someone found it funny that she had punched Grey. Big, bad, mean, Grey, had a black eye from his little sister. She supposed it was funny. Addi let out her own laugh. The first laugh she's had in awhile. "Well...thank you. And, I'm a lefty." This guy was funny, she could see why Grey enjoyed being around him...ugh, Grey. "My bo-my best friend told me Grey made a deal with this bully girl, that if he didn't speak to me, he'd be safe from any bullying but I'm free game. Apparently he doesn't care how hurt I get, as she already almost killed me..."

Theodosia Washington. Finn made a mental note to himself to talk to Astoria later today if he could find her. He remembered then that she was the Astronomy teacher; he could easily just trot downstairs and find her then. Resolved to help the girl, Finn let out a low whistle when Addy finished her story. “That’s….wow,” he said at first, knowing it wasn’t much to go off of. “That just doesn’t sound like something Grey would do. He’s a brave guy, not a coward. He wouldn’t make a deal like that, there’s just no way,” he said, sounding definitive. A little voice, playing devils’ advocate, creeped into his head ah but what if he DID make this deal? This girl bullying the Slaters sounded like she was made of tough nails; what could she have said to possibly make Grey take a deal like that? Maybe a chat with Grey was in store. He definitely would not get Rai involved, not until he knew more first. “So with your brother, did you punch first and ask questions later, or vice versa,” he asked her with a small chuckle. Laughter was the best medicine, and though their chat was serious he didn’t want her to keep feeling sad.

@finn <3 His whistle brought her out of her thoughts and she rose an eyebrow at him, waiting for him to explain his reaction. It made her angry at first, but she knew she couldn't blame him. He had been Grey's friend for quite a long time now, no wonder he wouldn't believe what she had said about him. "He's a coward who can be brave sometimes." Her tone was set and strong and that was truly how she felt. No one knew Addi's side of the story with Grey, it was only what he had shown or said. Finn chuckled and asked her a question and Addilyn gave him a small smile. "Well...it depends. I had tried asking him questions, but he just kept running away and ignoring me. So...I got fed up, yelled at him and then punched him." She shrugged. Addi had felt bad about it, but not so much anymore.

Finns’ eyebrows knitted together; he definitely didn’t like what he was hearing about the way Grey was treating his little sister. He of course didn’t have any siblings to base what a sibling relationship should be like, but he thought one should be protective of their younger siblings. His best friends were definitely protective to a point of their siblings, though Rai was an exception; he wasn’t sure how much of a relationship she still had with her older brother. “Do you want me to speak with Grey? I can see if he’d tell me what really happened between him and Theodosia?” he offered finally. He didn’t know how much headway he could make with Grey; Rai would have probably been the better option. However, it was Finn who had found Addilyn and not Rai, so Finn it would be. “I still wish I had seen you punch him,” he added, chuckling a bit at the thought. “And hopefully he finds some bravery if he gets chosen as Triwizard champion,” he mused; he wondered if Grey would be up to the challenge should be get chosen.

@finn <3 She tilted her head side to side. Addilyn wasn't sure how much Finn would be able to do; she couldn't do anything, Edmund couldn't do anything, why would he be able to? Addi supposed she could talk to Rai, but even then, Addi didn't think anything was going to change. So she shrugged. "I'm not sure. You can try, but I doubt it'll do anything. He's very stubborn." She smiled gently, stubborn Grey. She missed him so much, but her anger was so strong. Finn made her laugh again and she shook her head. "Well, if I ever figure out how to take my memories out of my head, I'll let you see, deal?" An eyebrow rose. He then spoke about the tournament and she scoffed. "I love Grey, I do, but...I don't want him to win. It'll put too much pressure on him, and he doesn't need that. Especially from our parents." He'd had enough of that, he didn't need to continue it.

Finn tilted his head to one side, studying her. “He is stubborn, but maybe if enough people talk to him he’ll finally spill the beans, metaphorically speaking,” he said with a chuckle. His face turned serious though, as Addilyn confessed that she didn’t want Grey to win. He listened as she explained the pressure that would come from their parents, understanding. He was an only child, so he didn’t have any siblings to compete with, but there was always that unspoken pressure to make something of himself. Perhaps it was why he had decided to become an Auror; that thirst to prove himself drove his ambition.
He checked his watch and cleared his throat. “Listen, my shift is almost over and my supervisor is coming on shift; we better get going unless you want to get into trouble,” he said, offering a hand to help her up. “But hey, if you need someone to talk to I’ve been told I am a good listener,” he said, sounding cheerful.

@finn <3 Addilyn forced a smile to Finn. Maybe Grey would, maybe he wouldn't. All she knew was that no matter how many times she tried to talk to him, it didn't seem to work. And maybe what Edmund had told her was wrong, but Grey hadn't denied it. Not when she yelled at him across The Great Hall, and not even after she had punched him. Grey hadn't even looked at her. He had just gotten up, and left the Great Hall, leaving her dizzy and completely horrified.
Addi glanced up at the sky. It was getting later, she'd need to go to class soon. She nodded her head. He held out a hand and she gave him a small smile, taking it to be lifted up to her feet. "Thank you Finn...maybe I'll see you around. You are nice to talk to." Addi smiled at him, a real smile this time. Her old heart was still in there somewhere, it was just difficult to be found.
