She asked if playing Outlaws would help and Brandon's eyes dropped. He didn't mean for them too. He didn't want to hurt her feelings, even though he was sure looking away would do exactly that. But he couldn't help it. He had to think about her question without looking at her. Looking at her would distract him from really figuring out whether or not that would help. Would Outlaws help? He loved the song. He wrote it for her. The thing was, over the last few months the thought of her song hurt. But now he was closer. He could see her anytime he wanted, even though he couldn't show her his feelings. Maybe the song would help.
After a few seconds, he raised his eyes to look at her, his expression more serious than he meant for it to be. "I think ... that actually help," he said slowly, watching for her reaction.

@brandon <3 Brandon's reaction shocked her for a moment. She couldn't tell if he was angry, or just thinking. It was always so difficult to be able to tell, especially with Brandon. Naturally, Callie would just ask him what he thought. But with their current relationship together, Callie took the safe route instead and waited for his answer.
Which...shocked her even more. He thought it would help? Her eyes widened slightly, and she couldn't stop the large smile that adorned her face. Oh she was so happy! "Do you want to go now...? So you can play it? Or, I can get my guitar."

She smiled and Brandon was happy with his decision. Then confused. Was she asking him if he wanted to go on his own to play? Or asking if they should go together? He didn't know what she meant at all. He stood up, extending a hand to offer her help as well. Honestly, he wanted to play and he wanted her there too. Maybe this is what he needed to feel good about his music again. To feel like he made things right with her. Hopefully it would work.
He smiled at her, "Yeah let's go. Want to try the room of requirement? That way we can both have instruments without having to wait," he suggested as he started walking toward the castle, expecting her to come with him.

@brandon <3 Brandon stood up and held out his hand for her. Her face became slightly confused, but she reached for it anyways. Callie wasn't sure if Brandon was going to say goodbye to her or not, or if they planned on singing their song together. It would most likely be very emotional, as well as...bittersweet, you could say. She loved him, and the song proved that. Not only that, but Brandon hadn't played in awhile.
"Room of Requirement sounds perfect, Brandon." Callie smiled at him, and followed him into the castle and onto the floor where they needed to be. She shut her eyes, and wished for a place where they could play music. When they opened, the door was there and Callie opened it, walking in with him. It was a large room, with every instrument possible hanging up on the wall, and the piano Brandon would need in the corner of the room. She smiled, and grabbed a guitar she liked.

They were in the room of requirement and there were instruments everywhere. Brandon forgot how much he loved this. His music. Without even looking around the room, he went straight for the piano. He sat on the bench and touched the keys gently without playing them. He missed this. He knew that he probably looked like an idiot, but he didn't care. Besides, if anyone understood, it would be Callie.
He tentatively started playing his song, before pausing and looking at Callie. "You want to sing it?" He asked, waiting for her answer before he started to play for real.

@brandon <3 Callie stared at Brandon. She watched how his body moved towards the piano, and how gentle he was with it, touching the keys but not playing them. He sat down softly, and Callie walked towards him more. Her eyes were soft, her teeth biting her lower lip. Suddenly, Brandon began to play the first few notes and her breath caught in her throat. He hadn't heard it in so long...it was so beautiful. Callie pulled up a chair beside him and she nodded her head. "Sure. But you should sing with me, it is your song."
I took you at your word, when you said you would steal my heart. Yeah this might sound absurd, but would you be my thief, take all of me, every part.
Love love love is my crime. So baby come catch me and let's do the time.
I think we might be outlaws. I think I might be in love. 'Cause I'm all out of reasons, like seasons, Winter, summer, fall they're all washed up. If you're still way over there, maybe slide on in by my side, 'Cause I'm just an outlaw, wanted if you want me. I love you everyday and every night...
They continued the song until the end, Callie playing a few guitar notes here and there. Once the last word was out, she noticed how wet her eyes were.

As he played the song, memories washed over him. Feelings, thoughts emotions that he thought he'd lost, all came rushing back at the familiar melody. He wasn't sure if it was the song, or having Callie there singing the song with him that did it, but in those moments Brandon felt complete again. Not only that, but he realized something. Music was a part of him. He needed to keep it close because without it, he wasn't himself.
Once the song was over, he turned his attention to Callie, "Thanks Callie, I needed that," he told her honestly. She'd appreciate that, right?

@brandon <3 His words surged through her body, and Callie didn't really know how to respond. She didn't want to talk. If she did...she might sob. And that wasn't what she wanted to do in front of Brandon, not anymore. She took in a shaky breath, and finally looked up to him. Tears had fallen down her cheeks, and Callie forced a smile to him. Callie nodded her head, "You're welcome." Her voice cracked slightly, and she quickly lifted up a hand to wipe away the tears.

Callie sat there, silent and Brandon didn't know what he was supposed to do. Then she started crying and he felt guilty. This was his fault, wasn't it? Maybe bringing her here to sing this song was a bad idea, but at the same time, he didn't know what else he was supposed to do. She wanted him to play, he did it to make her happy and now she was crying. "Callie," he reached over and grabbed one of her hands, tugging on it gently to try and non-verbally convince her to move to the piano bench. He gave her some time to put the guitar down, though. That could get awkward. "Why are you crying?" He asked, concerned. This wasn't how he expected this to work out.

@brandon <3 Callie smiled through the tears. She put the guitar down and stood up from the chair she was in. It was slow, but she moved over to Brandon and sat down next to him. His hand on hers made her jump slightly, and she felt as if she stopped breathing for a moment. Goodness, Callie loved him so much. And there was not a single thing she could do about it. Her eyes looked down at the piano, not wanting to look at him. "Just...just the song. It makes me sad."

Once she was finally sitting down next to him on the piano bench, Brandon pulled Callie close and wrapped his arms around her. Two hugs in one day was really more than he planned on, but he felt like it was necessary. He didn't want Callie upset. That's one of the main reasons he came to sing with her. That and the fact that he missed his music. More than he cared to admit. He held her close, enjoying far more than he was supposed to, but he ignored those thoughts. "Why? I thought you loved that song," he asked, finally pulling away so he could look at her face when she answered him.

@brandon <3 Callie let out a small sob when he hugged her. She hated being emotional. Absolutely hated it. That was for her to see and that's it. But, now Brandon was seeing it and she was extremely embarrassed. Callie slowly took in deep breaths, in and out multiple times to calm herself down. She reached up and wiped away the tears on her cheeks. "Well...the song reminds me of different memories....different times." Times where I could love you freely.

Brandon knew exactly what she was talking about. He could see the sorrow and longing in her eyes, so he pulled her back into a hug. He knew her well enough to know that Callie did not like being emotional around other people, including him. "I know what you mean," he mumbled quietly into her hair. "I wish things were different, I really do." He pulled back, his emotions too strong at the moment for him to be able to handle being so close to her. "I'm not trying to hurt you, you know that right?" He loved her. The way he wasn't supposed to. Of course he didn't want her hurt! Still, it felt almost inevitable with all that happened. He hated it.

@brandon <3 Callie smiled gently and wiped away all of her tears. It definitely wasn't the best feeling but she was glad that Brandon was finally playing again. Even if it had to be their song and something that the two of them had such an emotional connection to, this was good. It was progress. "I wish it was all different too. But unfortunately that wish will never come true...none of them will."

Brandon had no idea what to do now. It seemed like everything he said only made things worse and he felt incredibly guilty about that fact. Callie was upset (with reason) but there was nothing he could do to fix it. She was right. There was really nothing either of them could do about their feelings for one another and it was horrible and depressing. He wanted to do something to comfort her, but there really wasn't much that could be done. "I'm sorry, Callie. I'm sure things will get better somehow," he said, but his words sounded hollow to himself. They weren't getting better for him. That's why he hadn't played music in the longest time. He was depressed. Granted, that was a little better now, but things still weren't good.
