Alice was too proud to let any real sign of emotion or reaction sign through to Coriander. She couldn't, no - wouldn't let the Ravenclaw win that easily. As Alice gently massaged her hand, helping to warm it again, she watched Coriander just as closely as Coriander seemed to be watching her. Alice let her mind wander briefly what the surrounding bystanders had to be thinking of these two girls. It was no secret that Pepsi and Longbottom loathed one another, so the fact that the two were even sitting together was bound to gather some attention.
"Or maybe you're just immune because you're blood his hotter than most peoples." Alice couldn't help but smirk at this comment. She let her head tilt to the side as a smirk graced her lips. "Maybe," she replied, simply. When Coriander spoke again, however, Alice's eyes narrowed once more into a glare at the Ravenclaw. Something in the way she spoke caught Alice by surprise... almost like a hint of panic? But Alice couldn't be sure. Even Alice knew that Coriander was not one to show her vulnerablities out front, much like Alice herself.
Alice just let out a little sarcastic laugh. "A curse?" She repeated, skepticism in her tone. "Uh-huh," Alice nodded, but then began to shake her head, silently laughing to herself. Alice wanted to doubt Coriander with all her heart. She wanted to be able to laugh in the Ravenclaw's face, but the fact was... Alice had felt how unbelievably and... unnaturally cold Coriander's palm was. Maybe she was telling the truth...

"Maybe", typical Alice. Openly admitting that she was a hot head. Cori wasn't so good at hiding her feelings either, but Alice could have at least taken it as an insult. Cori should've known better though, Alice could turn anything into a compliment to herself or an insult to Cori. They had verbal battles so often, that it wasn't news to Cori. Cori couldn't help but smirk back to Alice, and keep smirking when Alices eyes narrowed into a glare once more. It was quite the site to see, Alice being interested in what Cori was saying. At least to a small extent.
Cori wasn't expecting Alice to laugh, however. That surprised her enough for her to scoff back at Alice and glare harshly, "you are the last person that I'd care if they believed me," Cori said venomously. Truthfully, she was extremely annoyed at Alice not taking the truth as truth. That almost made Cori more angry than if Alice had believed her and spread the news. Cori stopped her glare after a moment and shrugged, leaning back. "Maybe you're cursed too, Longbottom, would make sense why no one can stand to be around you for more than two seconds."
Cori was half tempted to start packing her bag and leaving the table. But she couldn't run away. No, they were at a standstill. Cori couldn't be the first to leave, especially since she was the one who sat here in the first place.

Alice had been dealing with Coriander for years now. By now, she knew enough about the girl to know what comments or actions would get on the girl's nerves and which wouldn't. It was always satisfying to her to see Coriander insulted, even if it just landed another venomous insult back at Alice herself. It was worth it. Besides, Alice knew how to turn things around pretty quickly and could always handle what Coriander dished out. But Alice had to hand it to the Ravenclaw; she knew how to handle herself as well.
At Coriander's scoff, Alice couldn't help but smirk wickedly. So her laughing had indeed gotten to Coriander. This satisfied Alice quite a bit. Alice had her doubts about Coriander's statement. Coriander could say she didn't care if people believed Alice, but Alice had a feeling that deep down Coriander would care... and possibly loathe Alice even more. If their roles were reversed, Alice certainly would care... but of course she was not about to admit to that. Ever.
"Would make sense why no one can stand to be around you for more than two seconds." At this comment, Alice felt a brief little sting in her chest. While more often than not, Alice pushed people away, there were some times when she felt utterly alone and some times when she felt that people really didn't want to be around her. Her eyes returned once more to a terrible glare, aimed at Coriander. Alice was not about to let Coriander know just how much that comment stung. She crossed her arms defiantly and continued to glare at Coriander. "Same could be said about you... but I think it's just your cold and foul attitude that people can't stand." She said, matter of factly.
Truth be told, Alice felt she was running out of ammo. That last comment really left a little mark and Alice was feeling it. All she wanted to do now was return back to her dormitory and sit in bed, where she wouldn't be bothered by anyone. But she couldn't leave, either. She refused to let Coriander Pepsi win.

She thought about just opening her book and pretending the conversation had never happened, but she wasn't sure if that was the right way to go. She was tired though, tired of the fight. She came here to study and that's what she should be doing, but why was today so crowded anyway? Maybe it would be best to just go to the lake, ask Maryn to meet her there for a short vent and study session, and be done with Alice and this library.
Cori couldn't keep at it much longer, there was only so much these girls could do in a day. Cori nodded and leaned back, "you're probably right," suddenly she thought of something. Something she thought would really get to Alice. Overall, she was ready for the argument to end, but she just had to get one more little word in before she could quite. "You know, speaking of these... curses of ours..." Cori lifted her hand, pretending suddenly to be extremely bored and interested in her fingernails instead, "it seems that our dear friend Carcer is quite immune to most curses, my skin didn't seem to bother him one bit."
Truthfully her and Carcer had barely touched at all, but as it turned out he was immune to her cold skin. Naturally that drew Cori to be very interested in him, mostly just in a friend way. Granted for someone who thought they'd never find someone who could even hold her hand, the prospect was exciting. Carcer was sweet, though, and would probably never want a girl like Cori. Not that she was looking, yet.

Alice was beginning to regret not paying attention to what she was doing when she had sat down with Coriander. What had she been thinking? Certainly not about the consequences of what would happen. Then again, Coriander had had a book in front of her face. So techniqically it was her fault.
Alice began to smirk to herself as Coriander said she was right, even though Alice could sense the tone as passive in her voice. She still felt briefly satisfied. But when Coriander spoke up once more, Alice's smirk disappeared and she raised an eyebrow at her. She was obviously about to go somewhere with her next statement, and by the tone of her voice, Alice could just tell that she wasn't going to like it.
"It seems that our dear friend Carcer is quite immune to most curses, my skin didn't seem to bother him one bit."
Immediately, Alice felt herself tense up. Her fists clenched underneath the table. But why? Alice had just started really speaking to Carcer Hagrid. Why did it bother her that Coriander had been talking to him, as well? Alice didn't like Carcer like that... she didn't own him for Merlin's sake. Her eyes narrowed at Coriander. Why would Coriander even mention Carcer to her? Was she spying on them or something?
Alice figured the best solution was to act like what Coriander had just said didn't bother her, even though... for some weird reason, it did. "So? She finally said, not changing the tense look in her stature. For some reason, she couldn't force herself out of a defensive stance now. And that was making Alice even more frustrated, but at herself.

Cori shrugged, "I've seen you guys around, your friends, right? Or does he just tutor you in something?" Cori was starting to loser her gusto. Mostly because she was tired, but party because she was losing interest in the conversation. Sure a good spitfire battle every now and then was good for the soul, but this one had been sufficiently ruthless and cold. Both of the girls must have been in a special mood today in order to give each other this bad of treatment all at once.
Cori sighed and opened her book, keeping it flat on the table in front of her, "I think I should really get back to studying, maybe we can just pretend each other isn't there." She said, almost bored. She leaned forward and started to read, not caring if Alice was paying attention or not. She didn't take in any of the information though, it was impossible with Alice sitting there watching. It was also impossible to leave. So, once again, Cori thought about the standstill that the girls were facing. Though, if Alice left, it wouldn't look as bad as if Cori did. Cori was here first.

Alice couldn't help but keep her glare set directly on Coriander. She wasn't sure she could even change her facial expression right now. For a moment, Alice had thought that her face may get stuck in a permanent glare if she didn't force herself to change the look on her face. Finally, Alice managed to look away from the Ravenclaw.
"We're just friends," she finally looked back to Coriander. Her voice was still full of venom. That was all she and Carcer were. Right?
The Hufflepuff let out a heavy and frustrated sigh as Coriander opened her book back up. Pretend like she wasn't there? As much as Alice wanted to study, she surely did not want to do so in the presence of Coriander Pepsi. She quickly began to gather her things back up. "I would rather lay down in Devil's Snare," she hissed as she stood up. Alice took a step so she was now standing by the side of the table. "Do me a favor and leave me alone," she spat once more before turning on her heel and exiting the library.
Whether Coriander had been intentionally watching Alice and Carcer or not, Alice did't know. All she wanted was to keep Coriander far, far away from herself. If that meant being more of a cold hearted witch than she usually was, then so be it.
