Sure, there had been plenty of girls who had tried to gain Cyrus's affections since he had last since Eleanor their seventh year... but he was certain, no matter how hard he could try, he didn't think he would ever be able to forget about Eleanor Percival. Though, hearing her said that there had been something, no matter how serious or not, was a bit of a disappointment. Though, Cy knew he had no right to think that. They had broken it off together. If she had chosen to see other people, she was free too. Cyrus just nodded along with her words. If Ellie said it wasn't serious, it wasn't serious and he'd leave it at that.
Cyrus took a long gulp of his water before answering Ellie's question. "Well, I don't think we are scheduled for the next match until... two weeks or so, actually," he said with a small smile forming along his face. "So, I'm free for all sorts of catching up." He grinned wider at her. Truthfully, Cyrus wanted to ask her on a date, maybe to get dinner somewhere and see a show. But he had just ran into her again; he didn't want to rush into things.

Why had she brought up relationships? She could see the way his face fell when she told him about her “not-serious” relationship. She could always read him like a book, and she could tell he was not all that happy with her news. But then again, she had every right to move on! She hadn’t really wanted to end things with Cyrus; he was the love of her life, the ying to her yang, the missing piece of the puzzle that was her heart. But she knew at the time it was what they both needed. She’d had a crush on him since twelve, and they’d been together since fourteen. Who was to say that you had to end up with your first love? Or who was to say that you couldn’t?
Eleanor felt herself sitting up more when Cyrus mentioned he had plenty of time to catch up; that his next match wasn’t for about two weeks. She started to open her mouth, to say what she didn’t know, but she stopped herself. If she wanted to start anything with Cyrus again, Nate would have to be out of the picture. But who was to say that Cyrus even still wanted her? “I’m sure you have a lot of people to catch up with,” she said finally, forcing a smile on her face.

Cyrus had always had a bit more difficulty reading Eleanor's emotions than she did reading his. She was often a tough cookie to crack. She hid behind a smile well; after all, she was a natural born businesswoman. But he always had a hunch whenever he felt as if she was hiding from him. And as she spoke, he felt that little familiar hunch. "Only one I'm really interested in catching up with though," he said, the corners of his mouth curving into a meaningful smile.
Cy finally finished off his own food and turned to look at Eleanor. "So, then," he said as if he were about to pitch a big business deal. "How would you like to get dinner with me? Maybe this Friday night?" It was risk, coming and barging into her life like that like she had no other obligations, but it was a risk he was willing to take to be with her again.

Eleanor could feel Cyrus' eyes boring into her; he knew she was hiding something. Bother. She finished off her lunch and took a last sip of her water. She'd probably go to Shilo's later that night for a drink and to vent to him about today. She knew that she had to get back to work, but that meant she had to see Nate; their departments had a combined meeting today to discuss the preliminary ideas for the First Task and what the prospective champions might be facing. "I have to get back-" she started to say, then he spoke. He was asking her to have dinner with him, that Friday night. Usually her Friday nights now consisted of pizza and beers with Nate and his friends, but nights out with Cyrus had always had this magical quality about them. She could probably tell him she was going to do something with Shilo. Or she could break up with him. Or she could just not tell him; she'd figure it out eventually. "I'd like that," she said suddenly, a smile forming at her lips. She gave him one last searching look, then waved slightly awkwardly as she walked off, aware that Cyrus was watching her walk away.
