Daniels opportunity finally presented itself.
He had been so busy with his studies, worrying about the tournament, spending time with Irina, and constantly bugging NIk with letters and whatnot that he hadn't really had a moment to bother Adrian about that blonde girl from the welcoming feast. Plus, Addy had been avoiding him rather impressively, so that was another obstacle.
But now, Daniel walked into the Great Hall after classes to find Adrian sitting alone at the Gryffindor table. He could have been studying, mostly likely since that's what the others around were doing. Adrian no doubt would know he was there, but Dan was quick in moving toward him and swiftly sitting on the bench beside his cousin. While doing all this he pulled out his hand and non-verbally cast a spell to glue Adrian to his seat, so that he couldn't escape. He hoped that Adrians pride would be enough that he wouldn't call out.
"Ad, hello," Adrians emotions were like knives, but Dan did his best to ignore them and stared at his cousin with intense eyes, "got a minute?"

Most people underestimated Adrian's ability to avoid others. They didn't think he could possibly e good at it. But he'd managed to go five years without a single conversation with his sister, Jamie, and four without speaking to Maxima. They'd shared the same castle as him, he realistically saw them everyday. So, avoiding Daniel was a breeze. But, the red robes gave Dan away. He could spot the Durmstrang student, and his cousin, a mile away, and get going in the opposite direction before Dan could sort out where Adrian was in that sea of black.
Today, Adrian was in the Great Hall, getting some studying in before his friends got there... When the hairs on the back of his neck started to stand up. His gaze shot up, eyes narrowed as he scanned the room. Dan was nearby... Somewhere. He closed his book, and was just about to get up when Dan slid into the seat next to him... and suddenly Adrian couldn't get up. He let out a string of German curses under his breath as he tried to get up again. No luck. He shot Dan a venomous look, obviously the culprit behind the spell that had him stuck to his seat. "You're handiwork?" He hissed. Again, he tried moving, but nothing happened. "No, but it doesn't look like you'll take that for an answer."

Dan wasn't surprised by Adrians actions toward him. It was typical Adrian behavior, hence the sticking charm. At Adrians words, Dan cocked his head to one side, trying to look as innocent as possible, "whatever do you mean?" he started, but then she shook his head, "no, no. I didn't come here to pick on you," though that was a nice perk, "I just wanted to talk to you about something. That blond girl, uh... Lily, Irinas friend. How long have you been in love with her?" he asked, his face not showing any hint of how amusing this was to him. Dan rarely used his powers for evil, per say, but he couldn't resist calling Adrian out on his emotions. Ever since he was born Dan could read Adrians emotions incredibly well, and he often used it against him when they were children. He was just so easy so rile up! But in all reality, Dan really did just want to talk to Adrian about this girl whom he clearly had a deep connection with. Dan assumed that connection was love, that's what he felt at least, but there was more too...

Adrian was scowling big time at his cousin. If looks could kill, or maul... or maim... At least one of those would be going on. But they were in the middle of the Great Hall, so Adrian should at least act semi normal. Or at the very least not give away his being a werewolf to the entire student population. Only a handful of people knew he was one. He tried to move again, still nothing. He was tempted to topple the bench over in hopes that he'd take Daniel down with him when he fell... But he didn't feel like pulling the stunt at the moment. "Then break the spell." He hissed in response. But he knew Dan wouldn't, because Dan knew just as well as Adrian did that he'd bolt given a chance.
Still scowling, he looked away, arms folded tightly across his chest. He planned on ignoring his cousin, obviously, but he choked on his own breathing when he heard his cousin's words, and whirled his head around to stare at him in shock and anger. "I'm not in love with her!" That came out a little louder then he'd wanted, catching the attention of a few other students that gave him weird looks before returning to their studying. Adrian took a breath, bristling, as he tried to not yell this time. "You don't know what you're talking about!" His voice had, indeed returned to a more normal level, but there was that strain to yell. Then, he looked away, huffing as he did. "And she's a redhead..." That last part was muttered under his breath, but since he was having a hard time controlling his voice volume it was loud enough for Dan to hear.

Adrians little request to 'break the spell', Dan just smiled, not bothering to even comment on that silly request. It wasn't going to happen, of course, not until Dan talked about what he came for. Adrian was behaving just how he thought he would, though, with the scowl and turning away with his arms folded. Dan was expecting this, but he also was expecting the heat wave of emotions that came from Adrian at Dans question.
Still, Dan's hand suddenly grabbed the edge of the table when those emotions came. He forgot how intense Adrian could be! The shock, the anger and everything else was like a wall smacking into him. Dan tried not to show that he was affected, but it was hard with that much power bursting toward him at such close proximity. Plus, Adrian had spoken rather loudly, and anyone would wince at that.
Dan knew now more than ever that Adrian loved Lily. Especially when Adrian said he didn't know what he was talking about. Then there was that 'mutter' about how she was actually a redhead. "A redhead? Wow, she'd look nice with red hair. The blonde is good too," Dan turned a little in order to rest both elbows back on the table, "you're best friends. I get it," he added, "Irinas one of my best friends. Oh, did you know we're dating now? Pretty weird, right?"

Adrian would have felt proud and smug about making Daniel grab the table, as if needing something to stabilize himself after feeling Adrian's emotions. He'd always loved doing that. It made him so accomplished everytime he made Daniel flinch. it was a guilty pleasure... But hey! Daniel loved making Adrian squirm! But no, unfortunately Adrian was too frazzled to bask in his victory.
Him. In love with Lily?
"Don't you dare flirt with her, Dan." Adrian immediately hissed out upon Dan's comment on her looking god with red and blonde hair. Of course she looked good with both hair! She was probably the most beautiful girl he'd ever m- No, he wasn't thinking that. She was his best friend! The point was! Dan didn't have a right to flirt with her! And it was Adrian's job to make sure he didn't.
As Daniel went on about them being best friends, and how he was dating Irina, Adrian's horrified and frazzled look gave way to wariness. "..... Isn't she basically your sister...?" He managed to respond. Adrian hadn't spent anytime with the Krums growing up, but he knew his cousin, Daniel and Louisa had. Their parents were friends or something.

Dan expected Adrian to be proud and whatever about overwhelming him. It was one way Adrian could fight back. It had always been one of the perks to Adrian's strong emotions. That's one of the many reasons it was so easy for him and Dan to fight with one another.
However, the pride didn't come. Adrian was too... confused. Dan smiled softly, relishing in that feeling, until Adrians anger and jealousy came through when he was told not to flirt with Lily. Dan bit his lip, trying not to laugh. "I can flirt with whoever I want, can't I? Plus, if she starts it, I can't really help it. Feeling those emotions, you know," he said quickly. "Just like that anger of yours," he added with a scowl.
At Adrians 'sister' comment about Irina, Dan laughed. "I guess, sort of?" Adrian was wary, which made Dan narrow his own eyes. "The point is, Adrian, that you don't have to stay just friends forever. Think about that. What you really want," all teasing was aside for just a moment.

Flirt with who he wanted?!
Oh, that was not the answer Adrian wanted to hear. For one very important reason. If Daniel flirted with Lily, she'd flirt back. No hesitation. If it moved, Lily flirted with it, and he already knew that Lily found Dan attractive, she'd made that abundantly clear at the opening feast. He did NOT want that to happen. No, Dan needed to stay far away. "I don't care if you feel her emotions. Flirt with anyone, I don't care. Just not Lily." Oh, Adrian sounded like he was threatening him now, his voice lowering and a deep growl in the back of his throat. It wasn't common knowledge that Adrian was a Werewolf, but Daniel knew. But, aside from Lily he happened to be one of the rare few that knew that Adrian had no problem with the affliction. In fact, he was proud of being a werewolf. And it was the wolf in him now that was starting to get angry, that protective instinct over Lily kicking in strong. Lily was more then just his pack. They shared a bond deeper then anything he could describe. No doubt Daniel could feel those overwhelming protective and possessive emotions from Adrian, but would he understand just how deep they ran? Would he be able to feel the wolf inside him crying out in fury at losing it's other half? Hell, did Dan even know that Lily was a werewolf?
This whole conversation had taken a serious tone, Daniel telling Adrian that he didn't have to stay just friends. What else would they be? What did he want them to be? He had no idea. Because he was comfortable with the way things were. "I don't know." That was probably the most truthful and honest answer he'd ever given Daniel, and it surprise Adrian. What could they be?

Adrians angry was really starting to give him a headache now, but he wasn't ready to give up just yet. No, he had just a little more to say. Adrians words about not caring about his emotional problem or about him flirting with anyone else caused Dan's smile to grow just a little. That low growl in Adrians tone, the way he said her name, even the words he was saying made it clear to Adrian that he had been on hundred percent right. Adrian wasn't just in love with Lily. He was territorial over her, possessive, protecting and his feelings ran deeper then Dan initially thought. Dan tried to reach for something else inside him but at the moment, there was nothing. Just those strong feelings for Lily.
Dan was a little scared, actually, at what he was finding. It was almost like Adrian was... well, he really thought Adrian was going to eat him. He was furious, and Dan leaned back even more, unsure what to do next for a moment.
He was glad that he had taken the more serious route, though, telling Adrian to think about what he really wanted. Adrian said he didn't know, and that was good enough for Daniel... for now. "Well," he said, pushing off the table and using his wand to release Adrian from his trapped seat. "I'll leave you with this," he leaned forward, "if you don't ask Lily Potter to the ball, I will, and we'll have a great time. I promise you," of course he didn't actually mean that... well, maybe he did for a moment, but Adrian didn't know that. Oh, the things one did for family.

Thank god, Daniel was leaving. Adrian almost smirked, proud that he'd scared off his cousin but that smirk didn't even have time to form before Dan stole the triumphant moment. That half smirk turned into his jaw hanging open ever so slightly from shock. Daniel asking Lily?
.... Daniel..... asking Lily...
There was a mind numbing roaring in his ears as he desperately tried to process the information. It just wasn't commuting, and Adrian's confusion grew and grew. What did that mean? Daniel couldn't ask Lily! He.... he had to have already asked someone, right? There was no way Daniel didn't have a date already.
Then the real confusion and shock set in. What if someone had already asked Lily..? Who was Lily going with?! Despite the spell having been lifted, Adrian hadn't moved until this very moment, and he practically fell backwards as he attempted to get up. Thankfully he caught himself and scrambled to his feet. "I have to go." He hurriedly muttered as grabbed his books, not even bothering to shove them in his bag, and ran from the Great Hall. Yes. Ran.
