"So he asked you to the ball, great," Lily said faux sternly, "but that still doesn't answer my question as to if he can dance," she narrowed her eyes at the guy, waiting for his response to this once more. Yes, she was sure that Anna had said great things about them 'blah blah blah'. She had a very serious question at hand! Dancing was very serious. If he couldn't dance, well, then he couldn't dance with the champion at the ball, could he!?

Irina couldn’t help but snicker at Lily’s persistence; she knew the redhead was simply being a good investigative friend for Anna but it was still funny to witness. Then she wondered what would happen when Lily remet Dan….Rina shook her head, they’d come to that when they came to it. “That is an important question Oscar,” she reasoned, shrugging her shoulders nonchalantly. They simply couldn’t have their best friend, the Hogwarts CHAMPION of all things, be partnered with a bad dancer at the Yule Ball. She had to dazzle and needed a partner that would emphasize her sparkle, not dim it.

Once again Andy didn't say anything. She was wasn't particularly interested in getting to know this guy right now. Sure, she worried about Anna and wanted her to be happy and to be able to trust him, but she wasn't sure that she had anything to contribute to the meet and greet. It was just easier for her to stay silent. However, she couldn't help but chuckle a little as Lily was clearly made that Oscar hadn't answered her question the first time. And then, of course, Irina chimed in. So Andy just looked at him expectantly.

Anna rolled her eyes when none of her friends said anything resembling a "nice to meet you too". She really wasn't surprised by Lily's focus on asking if Oscar could dance. She wanted to answer that yes he could, but she'd never actually seen him dance and she knew that Lily wouldn't like it if she answered the question that was directed at him, so she stayed silent. That didn't stop her from glaring at Irina when she jumped on Lily's bandwagon. Not that she was upset at either of the two, not really, but she didn't want Oscar's first interaction with her friends to be them interrogating him. A part of her was nervous that he would change his mind if they were too crazy, but she told herself that he wouldn't change his mind. He wanted to go with her, for some reason. Anna smiled at Andy, trying to show that she was glad Andy hadn't openly joined the other two. Her hand twitched, wanting to grab Oscar's, but she didn't think her friends were ready for that yet. So she turned to Oscar and smiled, hoping that he wouldn't feel too intimidated. @oscar next

Oscar wasn't expecting everyone to be so adamant about his dancing skills, and he swallowed nervously, eyes flickering to all of the girls in front of him. He had promised himself that he wouldn't get intimidated by the notion of meeting Anna's friends, but now that they were all staring at him, he definitely was intimidated. He broke eye contact, looking down at his feet for a moment, before swallowing again and answering the question, still not looking up. "Yes, I can dance." He replied, his accent thicker than it had been in a long while due to his nerves. He shuffled a half a step closer to Anna, and then finally managed to drag his eyes upwards. "I did not realize that dancing was so important here." He mumbled, glancing at Anna as he did so. lily luna potter

Hmm. He looked... Nervous. He looked down at his feet but he finally answered her question and she grinned broadly, especially at the way he moved closer to Anna. "Well, it's important to this wolf!" she stated happily, jumping up, "can't have Anna's partner stepping on her toes, can we? Nice to meet you," she thrust her hand forward to him, offering a classic handshake. Now that the most important issue was out of the way, Lily was pleased. Irina Rose Krum

Irina made a face right back at Anna; surely her friend realized any boy she introduced to them would be scrutinized intensely. “Anna has to have a good partner for the ball since she will be opening it. You’ll want to look better than a bunch of baboons dancing right?” Irina informed her. Her father had told her about the Yule Ball; he was much more vocal about that part of the Tournament than any of the tasks by a long shot. “But it is nice to finally meet you,” she added with a nod in Oscar’s direction. “We’ve seen the two of your sneak off a few times, so a name to the back of the head is a lovely thing to have,” she added, adding a teasing tone to her voice. @lestrange @annelise @oscar lily luna potter

Andy was relieved that they were off the dancing issue now. She really didn't think it was that big of a deal, so she was happy that they had moved on. She smirked at Irina's tease, and looked to Oscar again. "It's nice to meet you, Oscar," she said softly, but didn't offer her hand. Andy wasn't really the type, as Anna would know. The fact that she was being here now, for Anna, would prove that she was supportive, even if she didn't say much.

Anna was ... surprised. Yes, that was the right word. She was surprised that her friends were being so persistent and she was astounded that Oscar was responding to it with nerves! Honestly, she couldn't remember a time when she'd seen him nervous. Hesitant, sure, but nervous? Nothing was coming to mind. It was strange, but she knew she couldn't do anything to help until he answered Lily's question. Not that there was much she could do in general, but she would certainly try. She noticed that he stepped closer to her when he answered Lily's question and that he was looking at her now instead of her friends. Anna met his gaze and nodded, a small smile on her face when she decided she didn't care what her friends thought. She didn't want Oscar to be uncomfortable. She reached over and grabbed his hand, hoping that that would maybe stop him from being so nervous.
Anna rolled her eyes when Lily said something about not wanting Anna's date to step on her toes. "Come on, Lily. You know I'm more likely to be the one stepping on someone else's toes," Anna replied with a sly grin. She wasn't really sure if her cousin knew or not, but Anna didn't know how to dance, so it was likely that she would be the one making the mistakes.
Irina was talking about image and how they didn't want to make a lot of mistakes at the ball and all Anna really wanted to say was that she didn't care how many mistakes were made, as long as she didn't look ridiculous, but she didn't want Oscar to know how nervous she really was about the dancing. He didn't know she'd never danced before, though she'd implied it moments before. Still, she knew Irina would not respond well to that. "Hey!" Anna interjected, "We have not been sneaking off anywhere, Irina Krum," Anna responded in a fake-stern tone, even though she knew Irina was teasing. Sure, she and Oscar did a lot together lately, but she didn't want it to be labeled as sneaky. It wasn't like they were dating or anything.
Anna turned and grinned at Andy, hoping that Oscar would pay more attention to her than the other two. Andy was the one- out of the three- that Anna turned to the most when she was having a hard time, and he would hopefully be able to see how level-headed she was. At least she wasn't badgering him for information or doubting his dancing abilities. "Thanks," she mouthed at her friend with a small wink.

Apparently his ability to dance had been a deal maker or breaker, which had surprised Ozzy. He didn't want to throw Anna under the bus, but he was fairly certain of the two of them, she was going to be the one that needed help with her dancing more than he did. Her main problem was confidence, though, so Ozzy didn't think it would be helpful to anyone if he crushed Anna's confidence in front of her friends. Once the interrogation was finished, a smile eased back onto his face. "As I have said, it is nice to meet all of you, too." He said, the words coming out almost dream-like in his relief to be accepted by Anna's friends. One of them accused him and Anna of sneaking off, and Oscar scoffed. "I do not sneak anywhere." He said, jutting his chin up into the air. When Oscar did things, he did them loudly, and proudly. There was no sneaking for Oscar Gauthier!

Lily giggled as Anna reprimanded her, saying she'd be likely to step on someone's toes. "Excuse me but I am very well trained in le dancing," she said, standing up to give a little spin before sitting back down, crossing her leg, and fixing her skirt.
Then the whole 'sneaking off' debacle started and Lily shrugged, looking to Oscar, "well, I personally haven't noticed this sneaking off. You both are obvious people," she observed casually. "Anna is just secretive AND obvious at the same time with is bloody amazing. Whereas I am just obvious," she bowed, as if this speech was a magnificent one.

Irina rolled her eyes but laughed to let the two of them know she was just messing around with them. “Well as long as you’re happy we’re happy Anna,” she said to her friend with a smile. When Lily proclaimed she was obvious Irina choked back a laugh. Well, as if that wasn’t the biggest understatement of the year! “Speaking of being obvious Lil, it’s three and you promised me you’d help me with that thing we discussed,” Irina said pointedly. She had recruited the Potter to teach her German so she could surprise Daniel at Christmas, and Adrian was always too happy to point out any mistakes they made during their lessons. Irina stood up and offered another smile to Oscar. “It was nice to meet you,” she said, then grabbed Lily’s hand and dragged her off back up to the Gryffindor Common room to continue her German lessons. Perhaps today she could say something without sounding too Bulgarian in her accent!

Well, now that Irina and Lily were leaving, Andy wasn't really comfortable hanging around. She didn't want to do any talking and she wouldn't have much choice with just the three of them. She cleared her throat, standing and turning to plant a kiss on Anna's cheek. "I should go too," then she turned back to Oscar and gave a short nod, "hope to see you soon," then she was off. She didn't jog to catch up with the other two or anything but instead turned a different way, taking herself toward the Greenhouses.

Anna laughed at Lily's comment about her being obvious and secretive. She was about to ask what Lily meant by that when Irina grabbed her cousin and off they went! She wasn't too surprised by that, but she had wished they would stay a little longer. It sort of felt like they stayed just long enough to quiz Oscar before running off to do whatever, which just felt rude to her. Granted, once they left she didn't expect Andy to stay long. She would feel awkward and Anna understood that. She smiled at her friend, "I will see you soon," she said to Andy. Once her friends were gone she turned to Oscar and shrugged. "So?" She asked, curious about what he thought about her friends. "Sorry, they're not normally so demanding," Anna explained after a minute.

Oscar had to admit that hew as more than a little relieved when all of Anna's friends excused themselves. He liked it better when he and Anna were alone. Anna asked what he thought of them, and Oscar just blinked at her, still a little stunned by everything that had just transpired. "They are...intense." Oscar answered after taking a moment to collect his thoughts. "I do not understand why they care so much about my dancing skills. But I hope that after the Yule Ball they will be nicer to me." After Christmas, Oscar would prove that he could indeed dance, and then maybe everyone would be nicer to him. There was really nothing more to say about it, so Oscar just shrugged. "Snack?" He asked Anna, already pulling towards the entrance to the castle so he could find something new and exciting to do, sans the extra baggage.
