Oscar blinked at Anna when she said she was older than him. He hadn’t actually thought about that when he said that he was born after her, but since she pointed it out, he supposed it was true. “Not that much older.” He said with a shrug. A month and a half was hardly an appreciable amount of time, especially when they were both seventeen years old. It was just a small fraction of their life.
“Well…” Oscar began, eyes glinting playfully at Anna. “Pisces are supposed to be level-headed. No offense, but I do not think you are.” It wasn’t meant to be a negative thing, but Ozzy couldn’t honestly say that he thought that Anna was even keeled. “They are dreamers, though. Often romantics. They believe that there is always a deeper meaning to be found.” He shrugged. He didn't know enough about Anna to make judgement on any of those things. “As for me…Aries are stubborn. Which is me.” Oscar had no problem in admitting the fact that sometimes he dug his heels in a little too much. “But they are also irrational and aggressive. And I do not think I am that.” Oscar wasn’t much into anything highly physical. He ran sometimes to keep his figure, but Quidditch wasn’t his thing. He would rather sit with a good history book than do something stupidly aggressive like swing a bat at a Bludger.

Anna was happy that Oscar didn't seem to care she was older than he was. Really it wasn't that big of a deal, but she liked finding things that she had in common with him and now it felt like their age was one of those things. Just another thing she could connect with him on. She nodded to show she heard him, though she didn't really have anything to say to that.
Anna's mouth dropped open when Oscar said that she wasn't level-headed. "And what do you mean by that?" she demanded, trying to force herself not to smile. She wasn't offended, but she did have a lot of fun teasing him. She shrugged when he described other attributes that may or may not describe her. She thought about it for a moment. "I don't know if I could be described as any of those," she told him thoughtfully. "Wait, you're stubborn?" she asked sarcastically, laughing when he said that he wasn't irrational and aggressive. Honestly, she couldn't say whether or not he was aggressive, but after their first interaction, she definitely would have labeled him as irrational. Not so much now.
Anna tried to think of something to ask him, but her mind was coming up blank. She could only think of one thing and it was lame. "What's ... your favorite color?" she gave in and asked him, rolling her eyes as she did so. He was going to think she was an idiot.

Oscar rolled his eyes at Anna when she demanded to know what he meant about her being the opposite of level headed. “You know what I mean.” He told her, winking his left eye. She added that she didn’t see herself as any of the other personality traits either, and Ozzy shrugged. “Not everyone has to be the same way.” He told her. If everyone born under the same star sign had the exact same personality, the world would be a boring place indeed. Ozzy rolled his eyes again when Anna asked if he was stubborn. “You hush.”
“Red.” Oscar responded impulsively. He didn't often have a strong preference for one color over another, but the color red had just come out of his mouth before he could think about it. It was different from the way he normally answered that question – typically, his response was blue, since that was such a common favorite color and no one would question him on it – and Oscar wasn’t sure he wanted to think about why his favorite color had changed since being at Hogwarts. The only red things there were Anna’s hair and the Gryffindor scarves, and while he was fond of Anna, he didn’t think he was fond enough of her to change his favorite color for her. “And you?” Oscar was curious to see what Anna preferred.

Anna stuck her tongue out at Oscar when he continued to tease her and did nothing to answer her question. "I have no idea what you're talking about," she fired back, though she knew exactly what he was talking about. In fact, she was proving his point. Oops. At least he still wanted to spend time with her, even though she wasn't level-headed. That was a bonus, right?
He answered her question instantly, without even thinking about it. She didn't expect that. She thought that Oscar would prefer darker colors for some reason, though she didn't really have a reason to think that. He turned the question back on her and Anna smiled. When it came to this question, her answer was pretty normal. "I like blue, but more of a darker blue." Like your eyes, she thought, surprised when the thought came unbidden to her mind. It was true though. His blue grey eyes were the shade that she preferred. She hadn't noticed until this moment though. "Favorite animal?" She asked with a shrug. She might as well continue on with the favorites. No reason not to.

Oscar made a soft snorting noise when Anna stuck her tongue out at him. It was something that he normally attributed to children, but she made the action look…well, it was still childish, but it was funnier to see Anna do it than a child. He shook his head at her, ending the conversation. Arguing with her about that would be silly, and considering he had already owned up to his stubbornness, Ozzy did think Anna wanted to see it in action.
Anna answered that her favorite color was blue, and Oscar nodded. At least she had been more specific about the shade, otherwise Oscar would have thought it was a copout. Anna asked another question – what was up with this ‘favorite things’ kick she was on? – and Oscar paused. Much like colors, he didn’t really have a preference in animals. He’d never interacted with cats or dogs enough to like or dislike them, and owls were just…there, most of the time. He had studied magical animals (barely), but none of those stuck out to him, either. Oscar suddenly wished he had a pet growing up, so that he could have at least answered Anna’s question with something substantial. Instead, he shrugged. “I do not spend much time with animals.” They ruined books, his mothers told him. “I am sorry it is not a good answer.”

He seemed to have to really think about his favorite animal, which was interesting to Anna. Didn't most people know that answer right off? Apparently not. There he went again, surprising her. Then Anna smiled at his answer. That made more sense. He didn't really do much with animals, so how would he know which was his favorite? "You don't need to be sorry," she told him, rolling her eyes slightly. It seemed like one of them was always apologizing to the other one for something, but at least this one wasn't a big deal. "I actually don't have a favorite either," she offered. The truth was, Anna liked so many animals that she couldn't pick one as her favorite, but she didn't want to make him feel worse so she didn't explain that.

Oscar nudged his shoulder against Anna’s when she said he didn’t have to feel sorry. He felt slightly better about the situation when she said that she didn’t have a favorite, either. “Perhaps we can choose one to be both of our favorites.” Oscar suggested. That was the kind of thing friends did, right? They shared the same favorite animal? Oscar didn’t even know Caden’s favorite animal, so maybe that idea was problematic. “And then we can part ways.” Oscar said. “Since I am not teaching you much and your time is valuable.” Maybe when he got his lesson together in a more coherent manner, they could try again. In a way, they had learned history – each other’s history – but Oscar was afraid of how it would sound if he pointed that out. Instead, he kept quiet.

Anna nudged him back, liking how it felt to be so close to him. It was easy to tease him this way and teasing him was just fun. "Alright, so one of my favorite animals is ... a wolf? How do you feel about those? Or do you have one that you like?" It was pointless to ask what his favorite was because he'd just said that he didn't have one ... but he had to like some animals more than others, right? Maybe not, but she would still ask.
Anna nodded slowly when he said they should part ways, "That sounds good." She was enjoying this not-history lesson with him, but she knew he probably had other things he needed to do with his time, so she shouldn't argue with him. "I don't mind this," Anna told Oscar honestly. She didn't want him to think he wasted her time. "I've actually really enjoyed getting to know you better." It was true. Anna loved getting to know people, but Oscar was different. In a good way. Getting to know him felt different, more interesting than with other people. Maybe that was because he was normally so closed off.

Oscar shrugged. “Wolves are fine.” They were just like overgrown dogs, and Oscar didn’t mind most of the dogs he saw on the streets, so they were just as good to him as any other animal Anna could have picked. “I like dogs, I think.” He had very limited experience to draw from, so it was just as well to keep his answer simple and to the point, rather than arguing about something he had no business in arguing about.
Oscar smiled at Anna when she said that she had enjoyed getting to know him better. “You do not think I am boring yet? I must try harder.” He teased. Oscar was actually grateful that Anna had enjoyed their history not-history lesson as much as he had – it was nice to know that they actually could get along for an extended period of time, albeit with a little self-moderation. “Anyways, mademoiselle, I must bid you adieu.” Oscar said, standing up and waving at Anna. “Until next time.”

Anna smiled when Oscar said that wolves were fine and that he thought he liked dogs. "Then we'll go with dogs," she said decisively, with a grin and a nod at him. "Dogs are our favorite animals," she repeated, just because she could. He said he was boring and Anna rolled her eyes, "You couldn't make me think you're boring, even if you tried," she told him firmly. She wasn't sure if Oscar actually thought he was boring or not, but if he did she wanted to make him stop thinking that. He wasn't boring. She stood up when he did and waved as he started walking away, though she didn't move. She smiled and called out after him, "Bye." It was weird. Now that he was gone, she felt strange but she didn't know why. At least she'd probably see him again sometime soon. Until then, she needed to go study potions a little bit. Or maybe a lot. She never knew when it came to potions. ---the end--- @oscar
