The Monsters walk among us It was the weekend before Halloween and also the Triwizard Tournament selection. There was a noticeable difference in the atmosphere at Hogwarts. Everyone knew what was fast approaching, yet at the same time were trying to not think about it. All of the Beauxbatons, Durmstrang, and seventh year Hogwarts students were trying to do everything they could but talk about the selection. This strange change had occurred on Friday after classes had finished for the week. The excitement that had initially existed for the past month wasn’t necessarily gone, but everyone had started to take it more serious. Grey had chalked it up to everyone getting mentally prepared to understand that they weren’t actually going to be the champions for their school. Only three students deserved that. Hell, he didn’t even think he had a shot. There were a ton of other seventh years, let alone Gryffindors, that were better choices. Grey had too much on his plate as it was. Sure, things had slowed down since he had fixed things with Addi, but classes still continued and the school paper needed him now more than ever. Entering his name in the first place was probably a mistake, now that he looked back at it. If he knew what he did now then that decision would have been a lot easier. If, and that was a big one, he was chosen, he’d still go through with it. Actually, he had too, but he would actually give winning a shot. Win it for Hogwarts, not for himself. The other thing that occurred on Halloween was Addi’s birthday. Grey had just celebrated his earlier in the week, and next was his sister’s. He had tried to get Edmund and Claire on board to do something during the Hogsmeade trip. For whatever reason though, that hadn’t worked out as well as he had hoped, and who knew what was going on with Claire still. He was pretty sure he had solved some of their issues, yet there were still lingering effects of what had occurred over the last few years. It was silly to think it was going to be fixed with a snap of a finger. Addi had been a little easier to work things out with since they had been on good terms before everything went down. Claire was a different story though and he wasn’t sure how the recent events had influenced her decision making. Plus there was the obvious reason that she might have work to do, and having a fun Hogsmeade trip to celebrate her siblings’ birthdays wasn’t allowed by her bosses. Or she just didn’t want to go. He understood though, if Addi had asked him to accompany her to Hogsmeade any year before this, he would have come up with an excuse not to go. Standing in front of the entrance to the castle, Grey checked his watch again to make sure he was on time still. A few people had already left for Hogsmeade at this point, but it was early enough in the morning that very few were up yet. He liked getting an early start on weekends where he was doing something. That way he had the entire afternoon to lay around and do nothing until dinner. It was the ultimate relaxation mode. Letting a big yawn out, he checked his watch again, tapping his foot on the ground at the same time. He had no idea who was and wasn’t showing up, other than him and Addi. It was their birthday day! Honestly, Grey and Addilyn never really shared their birthdays. And it wasn't because of him; she had been the one to throw a fit with their parents if she had to share it with him. She had always wanted her own cake, her own party, her own everything for her birthday. And knowing Addi, you wouldn't usually think that of her but it was true. Not sharing the day of her birth was slightly selfish on her part, but as of right now, she didn't actually mind. It gave her a reason to be with her brother, and to maybe get to know him a little more.
Thankfully they had argued and figured out their differences not too long ago. Addilyn wasn't sure how her birthday would go if her and Grey still weren't speaking, but thankfully Edmund had devised a plan and shoved them both into fixing their problems. And he literally did just that; shoved them into a closet and made sure they fixed themselves before he let them out.
Addi was told by Grey to meet her at the Entrance Hall, and she came walking out of the dungeons hallway and saw him standing there, yawning. Oh of course. Addilyn giggled and skipped up to him, smiling. "I think we need to get you some coffee, Grey."

The Monsters walk among us Another yawn. Perfect timing too, since his sister had run up to him in the middle of it. She definitely planned that. He finished the yawn he was on and nodded to the coffee. Breakfast had provided him with a decent amount of caffeine already, but he needed more. The stuff they served was pretty weak, probably to keep students from developing a caffeine dependency. He was a newspaper editor though, long nights and earlier mornings working on the paper meant he needed that sustainability for extended periods of time. Grey made a mental note to ask the house elves some time if they could arrange a special deal to get coffee in the club room. How he had never thought of this before was beyond him. “I could do with another cup or two,” he managed out, just in time for another yawn to force its way to the surface. It was actually getting kind of annoying that this was happening. Most people had issues with hiccups; Grey had yawning problems. Perpetual amounts of caffeine in the morning was the only way to kill them off, especially if he hadn’t slept too much the night before. Today was no exception to that unfortunately, and he might have gotten an hour or two of sleep at max. Nothing coffee couldn’t fix though, and he was off to a decent start so far. Another couple of cups in Hogsmeade would set him straight for a few hours at least. “Is Edmund coming at all?” He inquired. It wasn’t like he wanted to go to Hogsmeade alone with Addi, if anything, that’s what they needed to get over the issue they had had for the last month. At the same time though, he felt like Edmund deserved to join them. It was because of his efforts that this was even happening in the first place. Plus it was her birthday in a few days, and the commotion of the tournament selection would definitely prevent them from doing anything the day of. “I asked Claire if she wanted to come along, but I don’t really know what’s up with her. I thought we had things figured out. Now I’m not too sure.” Things were definitely going to be more difficult with her than they were with Addi. There were much deeper seated issues there that they all needed to work out together, instead of trying to solve them individually. “Ready to go?”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

After her comment, it seemed as if Grey could not stop yawning now. It even made her yawn twice, and Addilyn shook her blond hair everywhere, blinking multiple times. "Goodness, Grey. You're making me tired!" She generally wasn't too exhausted, but with her brother around she knew that wouldn't last long. It was like yawning made you tired on purpose. Addilyn was sure she'd need coffee as well, probably just not as much as him. She was curious as to how his sleeping has been going, and if he's been doing anything to help it. It wasn't unknown to Addilyn and Claire that Grey had issues sleeping. But Addi knew he probably wasn't trying to fix it or to get more sleep.
"I'm not sure, actually. I know he was planning on doing something the day of my birthday, but I'm not positive if he's coming with us." Addilyn shrugged. She wouldn't mind just spending the day with her older brother, but having Edmund around would be good as well. They'd get to know each other more. But there was still that small part of her that just wanted to be with Grey. "Oh, that's my fault. Claire and I...aren't speaking." She knew this would be a shock to Grey, especially with how close the two girls have always been growing up. But she wasn't going to lose her ground with this argument, and she wasn't going to allow Claire to treat her in such a way. "Yes, very ready."

The Monsters walk among us Even thinking about yawning and being tired was exhausting. The more his head wrapped around that, the more he felt drained of energy to do anything. That was how most of his days started and ended, and passing out on a couch in the common room was an all too common occurrence from him. Sometimes he found himself in his own bed the next morning and had always wondered if someone else had levitated him up there, or if he had managed to sleepwalk there himself. Sleepwalking was a scary thought to him, especially because he could easily wander into the girls dorms unknowingly. What a way to leave Hogwarts that would be. Getting punched in the face by his sister in front of three school’s worth of students and caught in a girls dorm because he was sleep walking would be quite the legacy to have, especially for the editor-in-chief of the newspaper. He could say goodbye to any aspirations of continuing a journalism career after a stunt like that, whether it was on purpose or not. Luckily, sleepwalking didn’t seem to be an issue so far, and if it was, it hadn’t put him in an impossible position yet. “I didn’t get a lot of sleep again last night. Nothing new there though.” He said that mostly to ease his own mind, more than to make Addi worried about him. He knew that his family had an idea of what he went through, and he had pretty much told them that he had it under control for the most part. It had been going swimmingly up until the issues with Addi arose and now he was working on getting things back to the way they were before. The last large hurdle was the champions’ announcement a few days from now, and once he was hopefully not declared Hogwarts champion, he could officially start sleeping well again. Or at least giving it a solid attempt. He was a little disheartened, yet glad at the same time that Addi was unsure if Edmund was going to show up. For one thing, he wanted to get to know Edmund better. Other than their initial meeting, everything else had been hinged on fixing the problem between the siblings. Nothing really personal came from those conversations other than that they both wanted to do their best to get Addi out of her funk. Grey knew that he could trust Edmund now, even if he had thrown him to the dogs during his conversation with Theodosia. At the time, he was just another bargaining chip that Grey had to expend in the hopes of winning the poker match and Addi’s safety. It was absolutely wonderful how that turned out too. “No problem. If he shows up, then he shows up. In the meantime, off we go, I guess.”He deliberately ignored Addi’s comment about Claire until they stepped out into the cold sun that had taken over the October sky. Of course she wasn’t speaking to Claire, there was always something with their older sister. He thought things had been going better on his end, but clearly it wasn’t on the other front. “You know, she followed me into the bathroom after you punched me,” he motioned around his eye while he spoke. “I feel kind of bad that I never tried to understand her point of view.” He admitted, staring straight ahead as they walked. “I didn’t realize that mum and dad were doing the same thing to her that they tried to do with me. Apparently she thought she had to keep up with it to be a good role model for us. And all I did was act out and actively tried to not be like her.” MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Addilyn shook her head. She couldn't imagine not getting sleep; she loved sleeping, and it made her even extra happier and joyful when she got just the right amount. Grey on the other hand seemed to never get sleep, or even enough to function normally. Addi hadn't spoken with their parents about it, although it would be nice to see what they would recommend for their only son. "Maybe you should see a healer, Grey. Have them offer something to you. You'd be a different person with good sleep." She giggled.
Whether Edmund showed up, Addilyn didn't mind. Even if he showed up a little later to give her some bonding time with Grey wouldn't be bad. They walked outside, and she took a deep breath as the warm sun hit her. Ah, she loved Fall. One of her favorite holidays; not only because it was her birthday and Halloween, but because the weather was beautiful, the view was even better, and she had a much better wardrobe in the fall than she did in any other season.
"Uh...I'm sorry about that by the way...sort of. I hope I didn't hurt you too bad." Addi grinned sheepishly up at him. She wasn't all that sorry about hitting him, because he had done something that was half bad and half okay. So she was, well, half sorry. But she wasn't shocked that Claire had followed him instead of following Addilyn. Claire wasn't very sympathetic with Addi anymore, and she was completely ignoring her lately. Addi was glad she followed Grey instead of her, she might've just punched her sister as well. "Yeah and now she's trying to do it to me. Apparently keeping my grades up to par, being on the choir, and playing Quidditch isn't enough for good old mummy and daddy." Her tone was angry, and she was annoyed. Addilyn was doing fantastic in school, and Claire did not need to tell her otherwise. "But there's also something else...I heard a few aurors mentioning the last name Jakebson, and Claire with it. Well, I went and talked to Professor Jakebson and he said his brother was killed in the Kings Cross Attack. So I wonder if Claire acting weird also has to do with that, Professor said they were close."

The Monsters walk among us It was nice having someone else worry about him every now and again. He knew Addi had always been like that and he had chosen to ignore it, but she had still gotten through to him regardless. Now that they were talking more, it seemed to be amplified more than usual. He still welcomed it though. Nodding a little about seeing a healer, he thought it over again. There had been a few times over the past few years that he had contemplated using a sleeping potion or using muggle drugs to do the trick, but he had decided against it. Grey knew he could fix the issue with enough work. He had already been working towards that goal anyways and it was looking like it had started to pay off. Only a few more hurdles were left now. Continuing their walk towards Hogsmeade, he snorted as Addi apologized, if you could even call it that, about punching him in the face. He had already accepted the fact that he had deserved it, so there was absolutely no need for her to apologize. If anything, he still felt like he needed to say sorry for everything that had happened, even if they were trying to put it behind them now. “No. Don’t apologize. We both know I deserved that.” He said sternly. He wanted her to know that he wasn’t holding anything against her for it. “Thanks, actually. Remember I asked you to punch me if I went back to how I was before? Didn’t actually think you would follow through with it, but it helped.” He laughed, trying to push all of that behind him once again. “I was able to fix it up in no time. You do have a nice hook though…”Never would he have anticipated Addi to sound like him when talking about Claire. Grey had figured that their older sister, or their parents, since it was actually them all along, would eventually go after Addi when they realized it wasn’t working on him anymore. He sighed as she talked about her encounter with Claire. “You’re doing absolutely fine Addi. Don’t listen to them. I know you already know that, but do what makes you happy. I hate that they think its fine to do that to you too.” He didn’t care about them trying to do that to him; Grey had learned a long time ago to ignore what his family wanted from him. Addi had always been on their good side, or at least it seemed like it. Apparently the backlash from him had been turned around onto her now. All of this was stupid. Their parents were supposed to be the adults here, right? The next part was all new to him though. Claire had something to do with Professor Jakebson’s brother? It would make sense if he was an auror, especially if they were working closely together. And a loss of a coworker to someone newer like their sister would definitely be quite a toll to take on alone. “What do you mean by close, exactly? Like they were partners at work or something?” He knew there were with other things that “close” could mean, but if they were both aurors, it seemed like it had to have been more of a professional relationship, if anything. Young minds were impressionable, and he was Claire’s mentor, that would have made everything that much worse when he died. “Honestly, I think the three of us need to sit down and get this worked out. I’m tired of there constantly being issues, and we all seem to agree that it’s mum and dad’s fault for it.” Grey shook his head as he finally stopped talking. It was exhausting trying to work his way back into his siblings’ lives, but he was sure there was a positive payoff at the end of the road. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Eyes widening, she shook her head and yawned. "You did deserve it, but I could've dealt with it better." Addilyn had let her anger get the best of her, and whether Grey agreed with that or not, Addi knew she didn't have to punch him to get the point across. It made her feel better, but it wasn't the mature way of going about things. "I wasn't planning on following through with it either, I never thought I'd punch you. It just kind of happened." Addi had never been that angry before. She laughed and shook her head at him as he commented on her hook. "Everyone thinks that because I'm small that I'm weak, especially this kid from Beauxbatons. I gave him a right laugh that I'm a Beater."
"I am doing what makes me happy. But it's ruining my relationship with Claire. I...I told her I didn't want the same relationship you two had, so to pretty much just leave me alone." She gave him a sad smile. Addilyn knew that wasn't the best idea as now they just weren't talking, but at the time she had felt it best. She was not going to be pressured to overdo herself by her sister.
Addilyn shrugged. "I have no idea if they were partners, but they worked together. Professor Jakebson wouldn't let me know much more about the situation." Her voice was quiet as she thought. She felt terrible that his brother had been killed, but whatever was going on was messing with her sister as well. Addi knew that her Professor was probably just trying to protect Claire, trying to make sure she'd tell her siblings on her own, but she was just pushing them away. Addi looked back at Grey and giggled. "Of course it's their fault, Grey. They're crazy."

The Monsters walk among us Could Addilyn have dealt with it better? He wasn’t sure about that. Grey had been hell-bent on following through with the deal to now talk to his sister at all, so any attempts she could have made to speak with him probably would have fallen on deaf ears and more than likely would have ended with her punching him at some point. “Like I said, it’s fine. I needed that to happen, as weird as it sounds.” He stopped for a brief second as she said one of the Beauxbatons students had assumed she was weak because of her size. That was definitely funny. What a mistake he would make if they ever played Quidditch against each other. “Sounds like a right git to me. Some of those Beauxbatons students have nasty personalities, thinking they’re better than us and all that.” There wasn’t a doubt in his mind that most of them were putting up a front because they were actually weak. That was a basic intimidation tactic, he had seen a lot of the Gryffindors and Slytherins put it up as a way to get others to back off. Hell, he even did it, sometimes on a daily basis. He nodded his head as she said she was doing what she wanted with her life. That was good. The last thing he wanted was Addi to fall into the same hole that he had been in for years, thinking that she wasn’t good enough for the family and whatnot. He had managed it fine, but it was still a dark, dark place to be in, and after the recent events that they had been through, he knew firsthand that she would probably struggle being in a situation like that. “I feel bad for Claire…she probably thinks we both hate her. I know I don’t, and I don’t think you do. She needs something to do that isn’t work related or what mum and dad want for her. Once she gets away from that, then I think she’ll understand us better.” He wasn’t sure if that exact plan was feasible, let alone possible. Claire seemed to like what she had become, yet hated it at the same time. As she had put it, she was expected to be perfect by their parents. He was positive that she would have turned out the way she did regardless, because that was the way she had always been. Grey frowned as Addi said the professor wouldn’t tell her much. That was disappointing. He really wanted to know if that was part of the problem that they had with her lately. She was definitely different than usual. Work had kept her away from home for most of the summer, and before that he was in school. Once she had graduated, that was pretty much it between the two of them, other than being present at the same time during holidays. A loud laugh erupted from him as Addi said their parents were crazy. He had never wanted to go that far, but she wasn’t wrong. “I wonder what made them like that,” he said through a couple of laughs. “It must kill them to have us not following in Claire’s footsteps. It’s great.”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

She didn't comment on it anymore. The punch was something that would be a great story to tell in the years to come, however Addilyn preferred to keep it hush hush for now. It was most likely more embarrassing for him than it had been for her to get punched then do the punching, but Addi still felt guilty about doing so. She could've hurt him differently, but for some reason she had a feeling that just her words wouldn't have done the trick on Grey, and that being physical would've made him realize how much he had actually hurt her. "I suppose they are very high maintenance and cocky. But he seemed okay, he gave me a laugh at least. Told me he was the best Quidditch player in the world or something like that."
"No, of course I don't hate her, I'd never hate her. I'm just angry with her right now. We used to tell each other everything and now she's acting as if I'm some stranger." It hurt Addilyn to think that Claire wouldn't or couldn't trust her with whatever was going on. "She pretty much called me a child and told me I could't talk about something so 'adult' which is a bunch of bull." Normally Addilyn wouldn't speak so horribly, but when it came to Claire, she had no filter. "I wish we could do something, anything to just make her, well...break down I suppose."
Addilyn giggled more when Grey laughed. It was nice seeing him happy, even if it was only for a small amount of time every day. "Not sure. I know I don't want to be an auror, I plan on doing something completely opposite of that. They most likely won't approve either, but I really don't care. I'll be happy doing it. What about you, Grey? What do you want to do?" Addi couldn't recall whether he'd told her this before or not, so she figured just asking him would be helpful.

The Monsters walk among us Best Quidditch player in the world? Delusions of grandeur, that’s what that was right there. He could only imagine the amount of hot air this guy had to be blowing out to come up with a statement like that. Grey could list of more than a dozen players for the house teams that were prospective professional players upon graduating. If there was anyone from the other schools that was even semi-decent, he would have heard about it already, and so far, it didn’t really look like that was the case. He’d definitely enjoy being surprised by it though, especially if the guy was as good as he said he was. “Well, if there are any practice matches against them, make sure you send a bludger or two his way. See how good he really is.” He tried to make that as sarcastic sounding as possible since he didn’t really want his sister to hurt the kid. Even if it did knock a little sense into him. The conversation was back to what Claire had been doing. Apparently he wasn’t the only one that had been giving Addi grief. His face contorted into a frown of sorts as his sister explained the conversation she had with Claire. None of that sounded pleasant. No wonder it looked like he was out to get her too. Awful timing to strike that deal with Theodosia. Nodding his head as Addi continued making points, he waited until she finished to start formulating a response. She wasn’t wrong at all. Claire, while not really changing, had ultimately been the only one of the three of them to not deviate from her set course through life. While that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, he couldn’t find anything in her path that was there because she wanted it to be. Everything, the high grades, the job, how she pushed herself forward, they were all orchestrated and lead on by their parents. He didn’t want to say she was their puppet, but she had definitely felt the need to stick to their ideals as closely as possible. He jumped ship years ago, and it was starting to sound like Addi was, or had thought about, doing the same thing. “All we need to do is corner her one day and hit her with a tickle curse or something. That always does the trick.”That’s right. He had never told her about wanting to be an auror. For some reason, he felt like it wouldn’t hold over well for some reason with Addi. Here he was, preaching about not wanting to be like Claire, and yet he was going out and doing just that. The difference was that it would be on his own terms, over what was expected of him, but the fact of the matter was that he was still following in her footsteps, regardless of the reason. He took a deep breath, hesitant to say it for some reason. Addi wasn’t going to laugh or criticize him for it, that wasn’t like her. “I’m going into the auror training program. If that doesn’t work, I can always get a job with the Daily Prophet or another newspaper.”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

If Claire had arrived a few minutes earlier, she might have reconsidered coming today. She would have picked up a rotation somewhere, anywhere, as an excuse if she'd known they were talking about her. She didn't want to confront that conversation. Not now. Alas, she was moments to late, slowly walking in with her hands in her pockets as her brother talked about entering the Auror training program or the Daily Prophet. For a moment, she stopped, surprised that he was considering the Auror program. She hadn't known that.
But, to avoid any awkward conversations, she chose to keep quiet. She didn't want to come off as.... well, demanding as always. Not when this whole thing was supposed to be for their birthdays. Instead, she forced herself to smile and continued closing the distance between her and her siblings. "Happy birthday, Addi. Happy belated birthday, Grey." Sweet, formal, and too the point.

Addilyn giggled. She hadn't minded Emile all that much; but she had been shocked at his comments and reaction to her being on the Quidditch team as a Beater. He was definitely a very cocky person, and definitely someone that needed a swift kick, but Addi was sure they wouldn't ever had a competition together. "Sure, Grey, just for you."
Addilyn rose her eyebrows at Grey. Tickle her? "Grey, you can tickle her. I'm not in the mood to tickle her. I'll hold her down though." Addi grinned. She had definitely become quite different since everything had happened with her brother, but Addi actually just thought it was her true self finally coming out a bit more. She was a Slytherin after all, the cunning part of her would show itself eventually. Maybe now was that time.
Auror training? Now that was a shock. But, Addilyn wasn't going to judge her older brother. Yes, Claire was an auror and he had constantly complained about her, but Addilyn knew that Grey wouldn't do something with his life that he wouldn't enjoy. So she smiled at him gently. "Well I'm glad you're choosing something you really want to do, Grey. I'm sure the aurors or the Prophet would enjoy having you. I actually want to be a Dragonologist. I know it's a bit out there but...I've been researching it and I think it'll be really fun."
Suddenly, the person they had just been speaking of showed up, and Addilyn's smile fell and she stared at Claire. Well, it was definitely a shocker to see her show up. "Thank you Claire." She turned her body once more and just continued walking, allowing Grey to say whatever he wanted to her.

The Monsters walk among us Grey was about to respond to Addi about his prospective jobs when he heard someone else moving closer to them on the path. Seeing as there really wasn’t anyone else out and about yet, that meant it had to be one of two people: Edmund or Claire. Slowly turning around, hands clenched, he wasn’t surprised to see that it was the one person he had hoped it wouldn’t be. There was Claire, clearly close enough to hear the conversation he and Addi had just had about her. He expected her to say something about it, but instead they were greeted with happy birthdays. It had been a few years since all three of them had been present at the same time for that to happen. “Thanks.” Grey gave Claire a small smile and motioned with his head at Addi, hoping that his older sister would understand not to push the younger one too much. As soon as one problem had been fixed with them, another arose. He was somewhat thankful that he wasn’t the root of it all, but it sounded like he had simply switched roles with Addi. The visible reaction on Addi’s face as Claire arrived was enough to tell Grey exactly what was going on. He had just told himself that he’d let Claire off the hook, but the attitude Addi had wasn’t going to stop just by ignoring it. Rolling his eyes, he realized that he was going to have to be mediator now, something that was probably once meant for Addi. There was no way he was going to let the entire day be controlled by silence, or bull niceties between his sisters. Sighing loudly, he stepped in front of both of them and held his hands out to stop them. “This is how we’re going to do this. I figured out my issues with both of you so we could be a family again, but now there’s more problems. I think we can all agree that we’re tired of this, right?” Grey’s eyes flickered back and forth between them. “Talk it out. Right here. And when you’re done…” he turned his body towards Claire, “…please tell us what’s been going on lately. We know something happened, it’s pretty damn obvious Claire.”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0 ||MAZE DIRECTION:LEFT TURN||[/p]

Oh, Claire felt the immediate tension, she didn't even need to see Addilyn's face. But saw it she did. The way that smile just disappeared and her gaze intensely stared Claire down. A curt, retort, and then the young blonde turning away. Ouch. Verbally and almost physically shunning. Claire knew she'd.... Well that she'd messed up pretty bad recently with Addilyn, but she hadn't expected this level of subtle hostility. She deserved it, in a way.
Grey seemed to be the voice of reason though, explaining that they needed to talk it out. Claire's gaze flickered to her younger brother. She... wasn't opposed to the idea. Until he finished, adding the part about telling them what was really going on and what had happened. Her eyes widened. She hadn't been expecting that, his request catching her so off guard that for a moment her mind flickered to what it was she as hiding from them.
Casey.
God, Claire could still see his face. His kind eyes. His strong jawbone. His dark locks and beard. Every detail, as if she'd only seen him yesterday. And then that peaceful look on his face at King's Cross, right after he drew his final breath. Having to close those blue eyes, knowing they wouldn't open again-
Claire tore her thoughts away from him, drawing a shaky breath as her eyes, that had momentarily flashed with both nostalgia and agony widened then returned to normal. "It's fine..." She managed to whisper, barely able to speak. "Please, stop asking me that. Nothing happened that you need to concern yourselves about..."
