What Asa said made sense, but it seemed a little out of context for Hugo. Most Hogwarts students were naïve like that. A lot of them had never dealt with real life yet, except for when it came to the things that happened over the last year. That was eye opening for all the Hogwarts students, Anna included, but Hugo wasn't in the mood to argue. He smiled, "I don't think very many of us do," he commented easily, referring to Hogwarts students as "us." When Asa mentioned that a lot of the case files he was going over were old and the children had already been adopted, Hugo nodded. That was a nicer story for most of them then. And it was probably very fulfilling to see that the orphanage really helped so many children. "I'm glad," Hugo didn't really know what else to say, but he was. He wanted these children to have good lives.

“You’re getting more worldly experience at Hogwarts than your parents would probably prefer.” Asa said, obviously referring to the events of the previous year without specifically saying it. That was something they’d rather put behind them. They had been a part of Phoenix Rising, and had been invited to join the Order of the Phoenix, but if at all possible, they wouldn’t want to confront anyone like they had had to during the kidnapping. “I’m glad that people like you choose to volunteer at the orphanage.” Asa said softly. “We’ve been getting a lot more staff lately, but it’s still nice to have the extra hands.” The more extra hands the better, but Asa wasn’t going to bother Hugo but asking him to recruit his friends to join the orphanage’s student volunteer corps.

Hugo nodded, knowing that Asa was probably right. Granted, they didn’t know that he had visions of people dying constantly, so he didn’t know the “wordly experience” he was getting now was a realization of some of the things he’d seen. He didn’t want to go into this. “Yes, my parents have been worried about me, but I think they expect this year to be better.” And so far it had been, other than Xan’s sickness, but that was really nothing compared to the violent events of the past year. “I’m glad I got the chance to volunteer here,” Hugo told Asa with a smile. “It’s nice to get out of the castle and be able to help other people.” Which got Hugo thinking about what he wanted to do after he graduated. In all honesty, he didn’t know, but something where he could serve others would be neat. Maybe he would need to look into that a little bit more. He looked around the room, “Is there anything else I can do to help you in here?” Hugo asked. He was enjoying talking with Asa, but he didn’t want to waste their time, since he was sure they had a lot more important things to do than talk with a volunteer. After waiting a few seconds, Hugo nodded at Asa, "It was nice to talk with you. I'll see you later." Hugo turned to the door, opened it and left the room, closing the door behind himself and continuing on with his job. It was nice to take a short break and talk with someone though.
