@evelyn what was that thumping. everything was black and there was a thumping. it took him a moment to realize the thumping noise he could hear was a pounding in his head and the black he was seeing was because his eyes were closed. he forced them open and cringed at the bright light shining above him, that bright light being the sun. the last thing he recalled was he'd been playing a mock game with some other players, sort of a fun way for them to get to know each other without the pressure of having to win against each other. though there was something getting in the way of the blinding sun above him. a shadow of some sort. he fought the pounding in his head to try and look closer from it and his eyes widened a little when he saw it was a girl. well not a girl .. a woman. a beautiful woman. how had he not seen her before. he blinked and shook his head slightly. nope, she was still there. "i died .. didn't i" he mumbled as he started trying to sit up, his silver eyes staying on the face that was above him.

Evelyn felt bad. Well, sort of. It wasn't her fault he let the Bludger knock him off his broom! She just hit it, like always. Granted, she did have fabulous aim and she was aiming at him, but most players would have dodged or something. He hadn't, whoever he was. And now he was lying on the ground, unconscious? When he got knocked of his broom, Ev shrugged to the other people playing with them and quickly flew down to check up on him. Hopefully she didn't cause any lasting damage. That would definitely not be a good thing. She jumped off her broom and ran over to where he was lying on the ground. Once she got close enough to see him, she froze. He was very attractive. Not that it was unheard of for Quidditch players to be good looking, but wow. She stared at him for a few seconds before remembering what she was supposed to be doing. She nodded, relieved when she saw that he was still breathing. That was a good sign.
About a second after she got there he was opening his eyes and squinting. She sighed, relieved. At least he was ok. She looked at his face again, a small smile creeping onto her face. He was so cute. Then he said something about dying and Ev actually laughed. Her left hand lifted to cover her mouth, unintentionally hiding her surprise. He made her laugh? Not many people could do that, especially strangers. She took a second to compose herself, shaking her head at him. "You're not dead. You fell off your broom," she told him, squatting down so she wasn't just staring down at him. "Are you all right? I didn't mean to knock you off," she said, a small hint of regret in her tone. Wait. Why did she regret it? This wasn't her fault. She straightened her expression, trying to get rid of that annoying smile. Still, she could feel the corner of her lips twitching a little as she watched his expression. Would he be mad when he realized she knocked him off his broom?

@evelyn "You're not dead. You fell off your broom," he fell off his broom. that wasn't possible he didn't fall off. he'd never fallen off since getting on one. okay well maybe when he'd been three or four he'd fallen off but since then? he'd always been solid as a rock on the back of a broom. he had a flash of what had happened just before he had taken a bludger to his shoulder and knocked him off the broom. her! it had been her. he remembered seeing her face in the seconds before he'd seen the bludger but he'd moved to slow to be able to avoid it. he almost laughed at the memory but he managed to just smile. "Are you all right? I didn't mean to knock you off," he shook his head as he moved to sit up and he rubbed his shoulder where it ached. he didn't think he had any broken bones, everything was working and apart from a headache he seemed to be relatively unscathed. thankfully. he wasn't going to tell his mother about this, even though he was an adult and out of school she worried. "i'm okay" he said with a grin as he brought a knee up to rest his elbow on and he looked over it at her. "i just got distracted by your smile while i was flying"

Evelyn wasn't sure if he really was ok. Sure, he was sitting up and smiling at her- actually, it was more like he was grinning at her- but he wasn't making any sense. Maybe he had a concussion or something. She bit her lip nervously. How was she supposed to help someone who had a concussion and was hitting on her? Not that she'd ever had someone as cute as him hit on her before. And if she was being honest with herself, she kind of liked it ... but that was beside the point. It was her fault he fell off the broom, so Ev had to find a way to help him. She moved a little closer, kneeling down on the grass beside him. "Sure you did," she answered with a small roll of her eyes, not believing him for a second. She'd never distracted anyone playing Quidditch before, so it didn't seem likely that today would start that. "I think you might have hit your head a bit too hard." Ev said it in a teasing voice, but she was serious. She wanted to figure out if he was really ok or not, but she didn't know how and she didn't like that at all. Evelyn was used to having all the answers and not having them didn't sit well with her. "Is there someone here I can call over to come check you out?" She asked rhetorically. She wasn't really expecting him to answer, nor was she waiting for it. Ev knelt up and looked around to see if she could find a healer or someone nearby.

@evelyn "I think you might have hit your head a bit too hard." he shook his head quickly and almost regretted it straight away. okay. slow movements. he could survive this without making a fool of himself in the middle of a quidditch pitch. so she didn't believe him about him being distracted by her. well he was just going to have to show her that he was telling her the truth. "Is there someone here I can call over to come check you out?" he was about to answer her when she was suddenly kneeling up and looking around. the healers were in the lockers. the only time they came out was when someone couldn't walk off the field and he was awake and able to move so they'd wait for him to go in to see them. though he knew if he keeled over on the way over they'd come out. "in the lockers. but my head feels fine" he said as he moved to push himself up off the ground and get to his feet. he wavered as he did and put his hand on his head as things started t turn upside down. "whoa .." so maybe he hadn't been able to pull off fine after all ..

He was struggling. Even though he was shaking his head at her, Evelyn could see that he wasn't okay. She felt bad, though she didn't know why. Logically it didn't make sense. He was a professional Quidditch player. He should be able to keep himself on a broom when a bludger came after him. She still felt a little guilty about it though and wanted to make sure he was alright. He wasn't making that easy. Nor were the healers. Where were they, by the way? Ev had never come down to check on someone before, so she wasn't really sure what she was supposed to do or who was supposed to help her help him. Her attention turned back to the guy next to her when he said they were in the lockers. The lockers? How useless. He said he felt fine, but he looked anything but. Evelyn stood up quickly, ready to help him somehow if he needed it, and she was almost positive that he would need it. She was impressed when he got to his feet on his own, but she reached out and grabbed his arm to steady him when he started swaying a little bit. "Hey!" Her voice was sharp as she tried to verbally pull him out of his dizzy spell, if that's what it was. She didn't know what she was doing, but she was trying to make it so he wouldn't collapse on the ground. "Let's get you out of here. Come on," Evelyn started directing him in the way of the lockers slowly, wondering if there was something else she needed to do to make it so he wouldn't get worse somehow. "How are you doing?" She asked, oddly concerned for him. This was ridiculous.

@evelyn "Let's get you out of here. Come on," he let her lead him toward the change rooms, his head spinning slightly less now he was used to being upright again. he couldn't believe he'd managed to miss the bludger coming toward him but she had been smiling in the seconds before hitting it. it had been the reason. there had been nothing else. "How are you doing?" he nodded slightly as he reached the first set of benches in the locker rooms and he pulled his wand from in his robes, waving it and sending a cloud of red smoke down the hall to let the healers know they were needed. "well i don't feel like i'm going to fall over again"

It wasn't hard to lead the poor guy to the locker room, Ev just didn't know what she was doing. She'd never had to help an injured player before. Technically she didn't have to now, either, but she felt slightly guilty because it was her bludger that knocked him off. It was only natural for her to want to make sure he was all right, right? Ev wasn't sure. Really, this wasn't her area of expertise, people. Ev was good when it came to logic, Dustin helped her with people. But he wasn't here so she didn't know what to do. Still, she liked the way this stranger smiled at her outside. He seemed nice. And cute. Not that that made a difference at all. He took forever to answer her question and Ev wasn't sure what to do. Was he alright? Could she go now? Did he need her to stay? She wanted to ask all these questions, but he still hadn't told her how he was doing. He nodded and then sent a red cloud down the hall, which meant the healers would be coming soon. She would just leave, but what if he fell over again? Then he finally answered, saying he wasn't going to fall and Ev smiled. Good. That meant she could go. "Good," she said, starting to pull away from him. There was no reason for her to stay anymore, right? "I guess I'll just get out of the Healers' way then," she said as she took a step away. She couldn't help but look back at him though. He still looked really pale to her. "Are you sure you're alright?" Evelyn wasn't used to feeling so concerned for other people; she never cared when she hit someone off their broom before, but something was different about this guy. Something about him made her not want to leave, though she couldn't explain it. She wanted ... to stay.

@evelyn "Are you sure you're alright?" he heard her ask the question over the bustle of the healers around him. the two of the started checking him over but he tried to pay them no attention, although he moved when they told him to and looked at them when they asked him to. he knew they did have a job to do and if they could stop the headache he had then they'd be miracle workers to him. it wasn't often he took bludgers to the head but when he did he had to take them spectacularly. he took the potion that one of them handed him into his fingers and downed it quickly, oddly surprised by the lack of horrible taste and he handed the little glass vial back to the person who had handed it to him and he turned his attention to the angel that had knocked him out. "i will be if you agree to come for a drink with me" he said, one of his killer grins slipping onto his face as the potion he'd been given started to take effect.

Evelyn wasn't used to feeling useless. She liked being able to do things to help others and- being a Ravenclaw who hoarded knowledge- she usually knew exactly what she needed to do. But today she didn't. And while that would normally mean that she would just leave and let the healers handle it, she wasn't. She didn't exactly know why, but she didn't want to leave him. At least, not without knowing that he was going to be all right. She watched the healers as they moved around him constantly, checking different things. A part of her wanted to watch what the healers were doing, but she couldn't keep her eyes off of him. Heck, she didn't even know his name! What was going on?! Then he grinned at her and Ev felt a shiver going up her spine. What was going on? He told her he'd be alright if she'd go out for a drink with him. "I don't drink," she said bluntly, feeling guilty even as the words escaped her mouth. Why? Because she wanted to spend time with him. "And should you really be drinking in your state?" Ev couldn't help but ask critically. He shouldn't, right?

@evelyn "I don't drink," his grin didn't falter when she said he didn't drink. in fact if anything it got a little wider. he drank on occasion, in fact he could drink his weight in liquor, not literally, but he could put it away on a good day. he didn't do it all the time though, there was something about drinking that made it only a once in a so often kind of drink. "And should you really be drinking in your state?" he chuckled in that moment and he stood, waving the healers off as he did and he took a step toward her. "i don't recall asking you to come out for something alcoholic. only a drink. which could mean soft drink, coffe or heck even water if that's what you want" he said with a smile as he folded his arms lightly over his chest as he waited for her response.

He still looked all cocky and smug and Ev didn't understand why. She'd just told him she didn't drink, thus his invitation was moot, but he didn't seem put out by it at all. In fact, was his smile bigger now? She couldn't tell, but she was entranced by his confidence. Maybe he had something to try and argue with her statement, but it wouldn't work. She'd had people trying to convince her to drink with them for years and it never worked. Why would he be any different. Then he chuckled and stood up, stepping closer to him. Ev took another step back, unthinking. Why was she stepping away from him? She wasn't scared of him or anything. Then he started talking, telling her that he hadn't asked her out for anything alcoholic. He was right. And now Ev didn't really have any solid ground to place her argument on. Her eyes searched his as she tried to figure out what he wanted to get out of this. Why would he want to take her out for any kind of drink? She bit her lower lip nervously for a second, "Well I suppose ... I could go out for a drink then." Her voice was hesitant. Honestly, he made her nervous and she was looking for a valid reason to refuse him, but at the same time she wasn't. He was interesting. "What about the practice?" She asked immediately when the thought popped into her head. "I should probably be going back ..." Ev trailed off. Normally she would have said that and then turned and left, but for some strange reason she was staying here with him. She glanced around momentarily. Where did those healers go? "Shouldn't I?" She asked, still not making a move to leave. She'd never admit this, but she didn't want to go back to Quidditch. Not right now.

I should probably be going back ..." he grinned a little and tilted his head slightly as she kept talking and trailing off like she was nervous. if he didn't think he knew better he'd assume she was but from what he'd seen in the last little while while he'd been able to pay attention she didn't seem like the nervous type to him. "I should probably be going back ... Shouldn't I?" he chuckled and shrugged his shoulders a little. "they won't fire you for missing half of a practice .." he said with a smile as he rubbed the back o his neck and looked at her. "if you're okay with that ... we could go get that drink?"

He seemed to think something about this was funny and it was kind of annoying to Evelyn. Why was he so amused by her? She was serious. And about to go back to the practice. Maybe. Except for the fact that he couldn't go back. Not after her knocking him off of his broom. So it was her fault that he couldn't go back. And where did those healers go? They were nowhere in sight and she couldn't believe they just left. Did that mean he was alright? "Of course they won't," she agreed with him, still trying to figure out what she should do. He kept on smiling at her, asking her to go with him and Ev didn't know what to say. She moved a little closer to him, "Are you sure you're well enough?" Ev asked, biting her lip a little as she took a few more steps closer. She couldn't go anywhere with him if he wasn't up for it, but she wanted to, though she had no idea why. "I-I'll go with you," she said after a minute, wondering if she was making the right choice. She wasn't positive, but her choice was already made. As long as he was alright.

@evelyn "Are you sure you're well enough?" he watched her take some steps forward and he knew that he had her seriously thinking about whether or not to have a drink with him. though he was certain she was leaning toward yes. he hoped so. he couldn't think of anything he'd like to do in that moment than go have a drink with the angel that had distracted him long enough for him to get knocked off his broom. that had happened only one of three times and certainly not in the last few years. so she was something else. "i'm sure i'm fine. i hit my head, i didn't loose it" he said with a chuckle as he folded his arms loose over his chest. "I-I'll go with you," he nodded slightly and glanced down at what he was wearing. they'd both need to change before they ventured out into the world but that could be arranged. "do you want to pick the place?" he asked as he looked back up at her, reaching for his elbow to start undoing the pads that were strapped on.
