Susan gave her bit and left, Lucy following soon after and Will was left alone with his brother. Ed asked basically asked Will what changed his mind, what made him think that it was okay to tel them this now, that they could handle it. Will contemplated that question before leaning forward slightly, addressing just Edmund since the other two had gone. "Because, Ed, I've seen what keeping secrets from you guys does and it's not worth it. You deserve more," he said firmly. He believed it, too, even if there still was a part of him that cringed at the thought of his little siblings growing up. But, he had to accept the world for what it was. He had to accept that Edmund would be a seventh year next year, that Susan would be graduating, and that Lucy was so wise and grown up now.
His eyes were getting a little misty and he leaned back again, "so, take it or leave it. But I'm not keeping you guys in the dark anymore."

Edmund didn't expect to find himself alone with his older brother, but before he knew it Lucy stood up and left too. Still, he wanted an answer to his question. He wasn't sure what he expected from Will, but what he really wanted was the truth. He listened carefully once Will started speaking. Ed's eyes narrowed slightly at Will's words that he'd seen the effect of keeping secrets from them and that they deserved more. Still, there was something about his older brother's gaze at the moment. Ed watched his brother carefully, making up his mind before he nodded slowly. "Thank you," Edmund responded lowly. He and Will always had a rocky relationship, but he actually believed him right now. Then Will leaned back and said he wasn't going to keep them in the dark. "I appreciate that Will," he added, not knowing what else he should say to his older brother. Things always felt awkward between them and while Ed wanted to fix that, he didn't really know how.

"Thank you," Ed said, and that was all Will really needed to hear from him. Finally, after Ed has said he appreciated Will's honest, Will stood, reaching a hand out to shake his brothers hand if he would take it. "I'll be seeing you, Ed," he said, getting ready to say his goodbyes. He had to get back to work and let his siblings get back to school. Plus, they all needed time to mull this over.

The conversation was over and in all honesty, that was all right with Edmund. He needed time to think about everything he'd heard, to decide how he felt about this. He stood up when Will did and watched his brother extend a hand. After what they'd just talked about, Ed felt like he could take his hand in return. "See you Will," Edmund replied as he shook his brothers hand for a moment. Then he nodded and turned away. Ed wasn't good at saying goodbye. For one thing he just didn't like to do it. For another, he'd never really been good at it. Most of his goodbyes were him storming out of places. He hadn't gotten used to saying it naturally. So it was easier for him to walk away. At least this time he hadn't started a fight while doing so.
