The First Task was finished, and there was never going to be a good time, and Oscar had something to tell Anna. The problem was in finding her - everyone seemed to want to talk to her after her performance in the First Task. Oscar wanted to talk to her about the task, eventually, but there were more important things, like the fact that his heart might just rip out of his chest if he had to wait one more minute to tell her how he felt. Oscar had feverishly searched most of the castle trying to find her, but had failed miserably. He had decided to go outside to clear his head, and try to calm the frantic beating of his heart. The air was crisp and cool and helped to soothe him a little, but Oscar was honestly beginning to worry what would happen if he never did find Anna. What would he do then?

Anna was tired. She was tired of people, of talking, of thinking about the task. Really, all she wanted was one person. Oscar. She wanted to talk to him, and she didn't even care what they talked about ... or really if they talked at all. Honestly she just wanted to be with him and just relax. Apart from that, her feelings were all over the place and she knew that the only thing that would be able to help her find some stability was him. But where was he? Anna thought about going inside and looking in the castle, but it was huge and the only place where she thought she might find him was the third corridor. And that was too public for her right now. So she was outside, not really hiding from people, but certainly not drawing attention to herself either. For a while she searched for Oscar, but she couldn't find him anywhere, so after a while she gave up. Now she was sitting by the Black Lake, hoping that no one recognized her and came over to talk to her ... except for Oscar. She wanted him to find her, but she didn't know how to make that happen and was starting to think that she wouldn't get to see him until the next time she decided to go to the Great Hall to eat ... which might not be until tomorrow.

Oscar was good at picking Anna out of a crowd. It was the hair – the hair drew his eyes like a magnet. What he didn’t realize was that even when Anna wasn’t in a crowd, it was somehow easy for his eyes to find her. There she was, on the shore of the lake, sitting alone. Oscar didn’t know whether the solitude was by choice or not, and he hesitated a moment. If Anna wanted to be alone, he didn’t want to intrude on her thoughts. At the same time, though, he couldn’t wait a single moment longer. He had to tell her. Oscar jogged to where Anna was sitting, pasting a bright smile on his face. “Anna!” He called, announcing himself a moment before flopping down next to her on the lakeside. “Great job today.” Oscar told her. He had said that he would be proud of her no matter what happened, and here he was, proud of her. “There is something I want to tell you.” Oscar said, wasting no time in getting down to what he had run over here for. “But it might be a little scary, so I want you to be ready for it.” Was it scary to learn that your best friend, who you had kissed, loved you? Oscar didn’t know.

Anna jumped when she heard his voice behind her. "Oscar!" She greeted him with a warm, happy smile. She blushed a little when he congratulated her about the task. "Thanks," she said. She still felt self-conscious about everything, but she'd already complained to him enough about her nerves. He probably didn't want her to go through the whole experience. Then he said there was something he wanted to tell her and that it might be scary. Anna's eyes widened in surprise and she cocked a head to the side. He really wanted to tell her something that would be more scary than what she'd already gone through that day? Honestly, she wasn't sure if anything he could say would be more scary to her than those acromantulas. "I'm ready," she told him, trying to hide her nerves. What was he so anxious to tell her. "What is it?"

She was ready. Now Oscar just had to make sure he was ready, too, because as much as it hurt not to say anything, Oscar was sure that whatever was coming next was going to hurt more. “Anna Weasley…you are…you are always on my mind.” He was surprised by how choked up he got all of a sudden, but Oscar continued. “When I was in France, all I could think about was how I wanted you there with me. When we are not together, I always think about the next time we will be. And when we are together, I am always my happiest.” His voice cleared up fairly quickly, but Oscar still couldn’t manage to get those three fateful words out. They were just stuck. “And I…I just want to be with you. All the time.” In the absence of the words, Oscar was going to go for the action. He leaned forward slowly, projecting what he was about to do, and then pressed his lips against Anna’s. A kiss was worth a thousand words.

Anna was- she couldn't- she was dreaming, right? There was no way that Oscar was standing in front of her, saying what she thought he was saying. But he was. And he said it more than once. The most amazing thing was that she felt the exact same way. She was always thinking of him, always wishing that he was with her. The few days when he was gone were some of the hardest of her life, even though she'd been busy with preparations for the tournament. So ... this meant he cared for her, right? He didn't come outright and say it, but why else would he tell her that? Then he started leaning forward and Anna knew what he was going to do. He kissed her and Anna kissed him back, finally feeling her doubt ebb away as she did. She was going to tell him that she had feelings for him too, but there was no way she was going to break the kiss to do that. When they pulled apart, she couldn't keep herself from beaming at him, "Oscar, that's exactly how I feel," she told him as she scooted closer to where he was sitting. "I missed you so much when you were gone and now ... now everything feels perfect."

Oscar was sure that he almost exploded with happiness. He kissed Anna, and she kissed him back, and he never would have thought that anything like that would have happened in his wildest dreams. She said that she felt the same way, and Oscar was baffled by the fact that his head was still intact. His cheeks were already beginning to hurt because he was smiling so hard, and he was almost at a loss for words – almost. “Everything is perfect now.” He declared brazenly. “You do not have to deal with another task for a long time, and no one else can die, and we can…” Oscar paused, weighing how the phrase sounded, before deciding to say it anyways. “We can be together. Just the two of us.” No Tournament or funerals to distract them. Just them, at school, like two normal teenagers in love. Except for it was more than that, because Oscar couldn’t imagine loving anyone more than this, and that wasn’t normal teenage love, not by a long shot. Like Anna had said: everything felt perfect.

He was grinning, smiling wider than Anna could remember seeing him smile before and she smiled right back. She bit her lip a little before deciding she wasn't going to hold back anything. He was obviously just as happy as she was- if that was possible- so she didn't need to hide anything from him. "I like the way that sounds," Anna told him, reaching forward to take his hand in her own. Really, she didn't expect this when he told her he wanted to tell her something scary. Her smile widened at the thought, but then it broke a little as she thought more on it. He thought she didn't like him back. That was the only reason she could think of to explain why he thought it would be scary to her. She squeezed his hand, wanting to make sure he knew that wasn't the case, but not sure how to do that exactly.

Wow. This was amazing. Oscar’s thought process couldn’t handle much more than that, and he was happy that Anna seemed to be just as thrilled by all of this as he did. She said that she liked the way his plan for the future sounded, and he chuckled a little, leaning down to kiss her cheek just because he could. “I have wanted this since we practiced dancing.” Oscar admitted to Anna softly. He didn’t know when she had realized her feelings for him, but Oscar felt the need to tell Anna that this wasn’t just some off-the-cuff thing brought on by the First Task. “I still cannot believe this is real.” Oscar said with a small laugh. “I might ask you to pinch me, soon.” He informed Anna, squeezing her hand as he did so. Everything certainly felt real, except for the fact that Oscar was happy. He hadn’t been this happy since before his mothers died.

Anna's eyes closed when Oscar bent down to kiss her cheek and she laughed softly. She really didn't imagine her conversation with Oscar going like this, but she wouldn't change it for the world. They were ... together and things couldn't be better. Her mouth fell open a little when he confessed that he'd felt this way since he taught her to dance. "Really? So when you kissed me ..." she trailed off, blushing. They hadn't talked about that night ever. She'd avoided it because she thought it was when he realized he didn't like her. She shrugged, deciding that since it was apparently confession time, she might as well tell him the truth. "I realized how I felt about you on Halloween night," she told him, her voice soft as her mind went back to memories of that night.
Anna grinned mischievously, coming back to reality when he said he couldn't believe this was real. She pinched his arm quickly. "There! Now you don't have to ask me to," she teased him with a wink as she squeezed his hand back. Really, though, she felt the same. She couldn't be this happy right now, she should be exhausted, but she wasn't. She was delighted to be with him, to realize that someone finally liked her back.

Anna seemed shocked by Oscar’s admission that he had liked her since the dance lesson. “Yes.” He said, blushing a little. “I thought…you did not like it, when I kissed you.” He shrugged, trying to make it seem like it was no big deal. If only Anna had been a little more enthusiastic in that kiss, Oscar lamented to himself. They could have skipped two entire weeks of not knowing. Maybe if they had been together when he had heard about Caden’s death, things would not have been that hard. Oscar sighed a little, but then shrugged internally. There was no use crying over things that were already done. Oscar let out a soft squeak of surprise when Anna said that she had liked him since Halloween. It had been even longer for her, then. “So when I asked you to the Yule Ball…” Oscar said, trailing off. They really had made a mess of things, hadn’t they?
Oscar squeaked again when Anna pinched him. “Hey!” He said, knocking his shoulder against hers. “That wasn’t very nice.” He reprimanded, even though he knew it was all in jest. “Do I need to pinch you, too?” He teased softly. He just wanted a way to get back at her for her pinch, really.

Oscar looked a little pink, but that was nothing compared to the brazen blush spread across Anna's face. He thought she didn't like the kiss because she froze, because she didn't know what to do. "I ... I did like it, but ..." It was weird how hard this was to confess to him. It wasn't like she wanted to keep it a secret, but she felt embarrassed. She was seventeen and he'd given her her first kiss. "It was my first kiss," she admitted in a whisper, turning her face away so she didn't have to see his reaction. "I didn't know what to do," Anna added, her face flushing even more, if that was possible.
"I was so excited that you asked me," She told him. "I was nervous that someone else would ask me first or that you would ask someone else." Why did it feel like this was all about her confessing? She didn't know what else to say though.
She giggled a little. "Well, you did ask me to," Anna teased with a smile. He almost asked her to, but she was taking it as permission, obviously. She held up her hands in a gesture of surrender. "I give in! You don't need to pinch me back, promise! I actually do believe this is happening," she winked, almost positive that she was asking for it. And if she knew Oscar at all, he was going to take the bait, which would make this fun.

Oscar tried not to look shocked when Anna said that the kiss during the dance lesson had been her first kiss. “I – did not know.” Oscar said after a moment. He had ruined her first kiss for her! Oscar took a moment to feel bad for that before continuing on with the conversation. “I thought that, since you are so beautiful, someone would have kissed you before now…” And he had thought that, even if he hadn’t been able to articulate it before now. He couldn’t believe that he was the only person who saw how amazing Anna was.
“I was worried you were going to go with someone else, too.” Oscar told Anna when she admitted to being nervous about their Yule Ball situation. He had already sort of told her that, since he had said he didn’t want someone to take her because of her fame, but Oscar supposed that even then he must have known a little about how he felt for Anna.
Oscar chuckled when Anna said that he had asked her to pinch him. That wasn’t exactly how it went, but at least now he was absolutely sure that he wasn’t dreaming. “I do not know…” Oscar said mischievously when Anna insisted that she didn’t need to be pinched. “Better safe than sorry, no? It would be shame if this was a dream…” He let out a soft laugh before lunging towards Anna, aiming to pinch her upper arm. It wasn’t that hard – okay, maybe it was a little hard, but it was still playful. He wasn’t actually trying to hurt her.

Anna wasn't looking at him, but she could hear the surprise in his voice. She turned back to him with a small smile, "How could you have known?" she asked with a small shrug. Anna hadn't really confided in anyone about how she'd never really been in a relationship before, how no one had ever kissed her before. Even by talking to her friends, Oscar wouldn't have found that out. Her smile widened when he said that she was beautiful. "No, no one did," she repeated unnecessarily. "But I loved it when you kissed me," she didn't know why she was telling him this, but here she was. "I just didn't know what to do."
"Well, I'm glad you asked me before anyone else did," Anna responded with a smile. They'd just confessed to having feelings for one another, she didn't need to keep that a secret anymore. She really don't know what she would have done if someone else had asked her first. She probably would have said yes and then wished she was with Oscar the entire time.
Anna tried to jump away when Oscar moved to pinch her, but she was too slow. She ended up laughing when he did pinch her, and then sat back up and swatted him with one hand. She rolled her eyes, "Well at least neither of us think this is a dream." She reached over and poked him, unable to help herself. Anna wasn't one to lose easily, or back down when it wasn't necessary. Besides, this was fun.

Oscar shrugged when Anna asked how he could have known it was her first kiss. Obviously there was no way for him to know that since she had never mentioned it before now, but Oscar still felt as if he ought to have known that about the person who was, at the time, his second best friend. He paused when Anna said that she loved when he kissed her. There was that word, the one that he couldn’t say. Anna probably hadn’t even realized she said it. Oscar smiled at her when she said that she didn’t know what to do. “We can practice.” He promised her. That was one practice session he would certainly not mind having.
Ozzy grinned goofily when Anna said that she was glad he asked her first. “I am, too.” He didn’t know how he would have coped with watching Anna dance with someone else. If he hadn’t asked her first, then they might not have even had their dance lesson, and then where would they be? “Would you have said no to someone else?” He asked, curious. A Champion could afford to be a little picky with her date, but Oscar didn’t think Anna would have had the heart to say no to anyone.
“Are you sure? I might need more proof.” Oscar said, giving his best puppy eyes to Anna. She poked him, and he rolled his eyes. “You know, I might believe it a little better if you kissed me.” It wasn’t subtle, but Oscar wasn’t going to dance around his feelings anymore. Life was so much better when he admitted what he was feeling.
