Z nodded in agreement when she said she thought she was the same way. She was betrothed to him so he wanted to say he was certain she was the same way. Her little mishap with the Greyback girl and the way she'd just reacted was a bit questionable but one mistake didn't necessarily mean she was out to jump into an affair with the next mudblood that smiled at her. He wasn't sure he could blame her though. He wasn't actually sure what he would do if he'd walked in on someone half dead. Nothing maybe. Her mind just made her snap into action without even processing who it was. It was still irrational but acting before thinking usually was. Her question about their marriage caught him off guard for the slightest of moments. He'd thought about it a lot but he never really talked about it with her considering he'd always known she was uninterested in marrying him. He shrugged. "We're still young so we have plenty of time until then. Was there some time that you preferred. I'm sure mother and father and your parents have already discussed it but I don't think they would mind our input," he stated casually. It was their wedding after all.
When she asked about the corny saying regarding people marrying their best friends, he eyes lit up in amusement though he raised an eyebrow at her. "Oh. So now you're actually excited to be marrying me, Theo? Things have changed" he chuckled, still giving her that questioning look. He didn't want to hope that she'd finally come around to the idea of being married to him. Being married to him and... feeling... the way he didn't about her were two completely different things. He was devoted to her happiness. He was devoted to her. He was a sad sap is what he was. He scoffed at his thoughts and shook his head. "Have you given any real thought to the ceremony or were you okay with our parents planning it," he asked instead to fill the space, moving his thoughts away from any real feelings. He didn't care for the decorations. He knew it was going to be some huge pureblooded society spectacle with a bunch of people their who really didn't care whether they lived or died. Events like that had always annoyed him but he'd put up with them for her sake. And his parents'. And her parents'.

Zaire seemed to have leapt on the change of subject, which Theodosia was grateful for. Now, though, she needed to start coming up with opinions really quickly so that she would actually have something substantive to say about what she had changed the topic to. Zaire would figure out her deception if she didn’t have anything to say. “I think it might be best to do it right after school.” Theodosia said smoothly. If she had been listening to herself, she never would have noticed that she was making everything up on the spot. “Once we get much older, other people will be getting married, the new-fashioned way.” That was getting married to the people that they actually loved instead of the people that their parents had matched them with. “And that would take away from our spotlight.” If Theodosia was going to marry someone that she didn’t really love, she at least wanted to make a spectacle about it. She wanted to be the blushing bride, since this was going to be the only wedding she ever got in her life. Was that too much to ask?
Theodosia rolled her eyes at Zaire. “Don’t go getting an ego, Zai. Well, a bigger ego.” She said. She wasn’t excited to marry him, not at all, but she could put on a brave face and get what needed to be done, done. He asked if she had given any real thought to the ceremony, and Theodosia shrugged. “I was thinking that we should just do everything that everyone else wants to do, but do it first.” They could release butterflies and pour sand and have cute little personalized candies, and then whoever got married after them would look like they were copying Zai and Theo. Again, it was one of those small pleasures that would somehow make Theodosia okay with marrying someone she didn’t love – at least she would get to make other people angry in the process.

He eyed her curiously then. She wanted to get married right after school? Even if it was more fashionable that way, her rushing it was odd when she didn't actually want it. They were going to be the first to get married from their year and have the wedding of the decade but still. She didn't want it. She didn't want it like he did. It was on the tip of his tongue to say so, to sneer and tell her that he was in no rush to tie her down when she didn't even care about the betrothal. Instead he furrowed his brow and nodded at her words. "True but I think regardless of when we get married, our wedding will be the most memorable of our year. There isn't anyone else who'd throw such an extravagant wedding that wasn't tacky or over the top," he mumbled, his facade resumed, his tone seemed to be permanently cool.
The smirk that took over his features was nothing but pure satisfaction at her words. "My ego is only so big because I can back up every word. I'm absolutely worth being married to," he snickered. Such a shame she didn't appreciate it. He was going to make a fine husband, of that he was sure. Once his got his foot into the ground and his power secured, he'd be a great father too. Plans, plans, plans. All of these things he had planned and he was just waiting until he could execute them. "I was just thinking that we should just do everything that everyone else wants to do, but do it first." He chuckled at her suggestion before giving a shrug. All of the fancy stuff didn't really matter. Those things, lighting the candle, pouring sand, releasing doves, whatever it was, were supposed to bless the marriage and the married to a long and happy life together. He didn't think any of it worked. It was just supposed to make the married feel good and committed before being whisked off on their honeymoon. He could leave or take all of that stuff. If she wanted "I'm sure that everyone is going to be envious. Everyone's going to want to be us. Now that I think about it that could get annoying. People will be swarming us" he chuckled and shook his head at the thought.

Zaire said that no matter when their wedding was, it would be the most memorable of the year, and Theodosia nodded. “Why so hesitant, Zai?” She asked. He was the one who wanted this, after all, and the way he was talking made it seem like he didn’t want to do it sooner rather than later. “Besides, what will people think if we dilly dally?” Theodosia didn’t want rumors getting around that she intended to break off their betrothal or something. The fact that she was a lesbian was something she still held tight to her chest, but if word ever got out and she hesitated in marrying Zaire, even for a moment, people would talk. And not in the good way.
Theodosia rolled her eyes when Zaire said that his ego was only so big because he was able to prove every word that he said about himself. “You are. Happy?” She asked in a drawl. One day, Theodosia thought, she was going to find a way to be happy about this whole situation. She had thought about it like spending the rest of her life with her best friend, and that had sounded like a brilliant idea, until she remembered that there were other things she was expected to do beyond just being happy and sharing a house with Zaire. “Darling, everyone wants to be us already.” Theodosia said, brushing off Zaire’s concern about being the model as being annoying. Maybe it was a stretch to say that everyone wanted to be them, but anyone who was anyone – that was, anyone who would be invited to their wedding in the first place – already wanted to be them. Theodosia and Zaire weren’t like the blood traitors who were breaking their betrothals left and right. Which was part of the reason why Theodosia was going to go through all of the wedding business, even if she wasn’t into the entire idea of spending her life with a man as her romantic life partner.

He shook his head in annoyance at her words. "That wasn't hesitation you heard Theo. Just an observation. It doesn't matter when our wedding happens. Ours will be the only one anyone remembers. Regardless, I'm not concerned with what anyone else has to say," he stated dismissively. He wasn't the one with the problem with the marriage anyway and if they were to postpone, it would spawn rumors of discord and a possible breaking of the arrangement. Which was entirely possible. They still had the rest of this year as well as two additional years before they could even think about marrying. She could find someone that she did want to marry and request that their families' arrangement be dissolved. He didn't want to think about how that would and did make him feel. So he ignored it, as per usual. "This is our marriage, our wedding and the only opinions that matter come from the people currently in this room. Unless you're worried?" Even his own parents would bend to his will when reasonable. His eyes were hard on her for a moment, willing her to say she wanted to break the arrangement, or even just to hear her say she didn't want this again like she used to. Maybe he was a freaking masochist.
He smirked in amusement once again at her confirmation of his words. "I didn't say it for compliments, just acknowledging a simple fact, dear," he stated with a raised eyebrow and a laugh. He shrugged his shoulders quickly in an uncaring way. "And they'll continue to want to be us. Doesn't mean I need them drooling all over me. Aspiring is the only thing they will be doing." he snorted. He'd had guys and girls trying to brown nose and flirt with him, even after his betrothal was announced. He'd had plenty of people, useless people who didn't matter anyway, sneer at him out of jealousy. He'd never found it in him to care enough though. Useless people remained useless and those that truly mattered always floated above the rest. Why should he start caring about that now, especially when it came to something like his wedding? "They will try to replicate, or worst of all, try and come up with something more original and fail miserably."

Theodosia nodded when Zaire shook his head. She hadn’t heard hesitation, according to him, and Theo was willing to let that rest. He insisted that their wedding would be the only one anyone remembered, and Theo certainly hoped that that was true. He then went on to say that the only opinions that mattered when planning their wedding was theirs, which was frankly untrue. “Do you really think my parents will pay for something ridiculous?” She said with an arched eyebrow. They were lenient people – well, at least her father was, considering how she had him twisted around her finger – but they weren’t going to do some silly farmhouse wedding just because Theodosia asked for it. It had to be memorable, and if Theodosia and Zaire’s ideas weren’t good enough, there was going to be an intervention somewhere along the line.
Theodosia rolled her eyes when Zaire said that he hadn’t said what he had said for compliments. She would believe that when hell froze over. Everyone was looking for compliments, even if it was subconscious. Zai said that someone was going to try to replicate or best their wedding, and the girl shook her head. “We’re Slytherins, Zaire.” Theodosia said with a light laugh. Any pureblood who was worth their spit was put into Slytherin, which was one of the biggest reasons why Theodosia was suspicious of the Rousseau girl. Gryffindor, and a pureblood who believed in the cause? Unheard of. Ravenclaw was almost comparable, and Theodosia had only put that stipulation into place because two of her idols – Elaine Dupree and Desirae Rousseau – were in the eagle’s house. Intelligence was useless without cunning, and vice versa, so maybe it was a match made in heaven. Unlike the other match that she was in right now. “Of course someone is going to take on the oh-so-ambitious task of trying to best us.” Theodosia stood from where she had been standing, brushing off her robes even though she knew they were spotless. “I have other tasks to attend to, fiancé. I’ll see you soon.” Theodosia said, retreating to the girl’s dorm, where she could think of everything she was already thinking about, but with a little more peace. Theo considered bending to kiss Zaire’s cheek, but that would seem a little too forced. Instead, she patted her shoulder as she breezed away.
