cade sat on a bench on the edge of a small park on the outskirts of hogsmeade and watched his son tottering around the ground and jumping in all the piles of leaves that had cade had made for him. it was wonderful what a simple wave of his wand could do for his son's happiness. he chuckled as he watched cade jump into one and land on his butt, throwing some leaves up in the air and clapping his hands while squealing with delight. as his son moved to stand from the pile of leaves, cade couldn't help but notice they were all stuck to the knitted sweater that anna's mother had knitted him just the month before. preparing for the cold, was what she had been when she had given it to him. hayden loved it though, it was all he ever wanted to wear. he sipped on the drink he had in his hand, a pumpkin spiced latte. he couldn't say it was the best drink he'd ever had but the guy at the coffee shop where he had gotten it had said it was one of their new ones. he didn't think he'd be getting it again. he looked up from his drink when he heard hayden squeal in delight and he stood up when he saw dastan coming toward them. that was the reason they were here. he'd written to dastan asking him to meet in the village, so he could see his nephew and when they were finished he'd take hayden up to the school so anna could see him. he knew how hard it was to be away from him so he was surprising her. "hey dastan" he said in greeting as he put the latte down and lifted his son up into his arms when he held his hands up to him.

Dastan walked quickly to Hogsmeade, annoyed because he was late. He tried to leave the carriage early, but today was the day when everyone who normally slept in decided to get up early for some ridiculous reason, throwing a hitch in his plans. Really, he just wanted to go see Caden and Hayden. Though Dastan often acted like a tough guy, there was an incredibly soft spot in his heart for his nephew. Every time he saw the kid, he just wanted to lift him into his arms and squish him with hugs, which he normally ended up doing. So when he got an owl from his brother-in-law saying they would be coming to Hogsmeade, Dastan was delighted. 

An easy smile covered his face when he heard Hayden's excited cry. "Caden," Dastan greeted in return when he got near enough. He smiled at the sight of Hayden and reached forward, even though the boy was in his father's arms. "Come here, you," he encouraged with a teasing smile, almost positive the child would want to come to him. Hopefully he hadn't already forgotten about him. "So how are things going?" He asked with a smile.
