Maria had not enjoyed watching the first task. The moment those flesh eating slugs attacked her cousin she wanted to race in there and get them off him. Thankfully another durmstrang student had seen the frustrations and anger building and warned a teacher, who managed to keep her at bay... we'll sort of. Each time Elias faced a challenge her anger just grew. She'd protected her cousin for so long and now she was being told to just sit still and watch? To let him get hurt?! They were lucky Maria didn't set someone on fire. She was about to when they finally gave her the calming potion. Well, forced her to drink actually.
In the end her cousin made it out alive, which was all she really cared about at this point. He'd made it out safe and they'd heal him up. She wasn't able to go see him that first day, still heavily sedated by the potion. The next morning though she was up to the Hospital Wing as fast as possible. He looked better then before, thank god. "Hey." she greeted as she crossed the room, taking the empty seat by his bed. "You look pretty good considering being eaten." she teased softly.

@maria <3 Elias was exhausted. Mentally, physically, emotionally...just exhausted. That first task was a pain in his ass, and he hoped he'd never have to do anything as painful and traumatizing as that again. The slugs weren't even the worst of it either, the worst of it was...well, seeing his father. Granted, it wasn't actually Fenrir, but it looked like him, felt like he was there, everything. Elias wished the whole school and more hadn't been around to see such a terrible experience for him, but it was what he signed up for, and he'd live with it.
Finally, there she was. The one person he wanted to see.
Elias smiled for the first time since the day prior. Seeing Maria made him feel so much better. She sat down next to him and commented on his appearance and he chuckled, but winced at the pain in his torso. "Why thank you, Miss Maria. I don't feel all that good." Elias tried taking a deep breath but couldn't, and settled for a yawn instead. He rested his head back on the pillow and stared at Maria. "I'm sorry you had to see all that."

Maria spotted that wince and immediately felt a small wave of anger. Couldn't they give him something for that?! Okay, they probably had, and she was overreacting, but this was her cousin! She didn't like seeing him in any sort of pain, emotionally or physically! The anger lasted only a moment before turning to slight concern as her eyebrows furrowed together. "No one expects you to feel good." She commented. Considering all the creatures and challenges they'd placed in the maze, it was amazing no one had gotten more seriously injured. But, to be honest, Elias had had some pretty bad luck in general, and she was glad that he hadn't been more seriously injured.
Scooting the chair closer to the bed, she crossed her legs indian style and leaned forward a little. "Don't." She scolded, before continuing. "You made it, that's all that matters. You're still as handsome as when you went in, and thankfully the creatures didn't ruin your hair." It really was no secret that Maria adored his hair. Up until last summer she'd constantly pestered him about him letting her play with it. He'd finally given in, and she'd refused to stop since. "How are you holding up though..?" She finally asked.

@maria <3 An eyebrow rose at his cousin. He knew Maria wasn't happy about what had happened. But he had signed up for this. He had been the one to write his name on that piece of paper, and to put it in the goblet. Both himself and Maria should have expected this to happen, even if it wasn't the best thing. The tournament, he hoped, would end up being fun, and not just danger and pain. "I know that no one expects it, but I hoped I'd feel better by now. I hate staying cooped up in this bed. It's boring." Like that was the biggest of his worries right now.
Maria scooted closer and Elias smiled at her. He was glad he had her here. Not having his mother was hard, especially after...after seeing Fenrir in the maze. Even though it wasn't the real thing, it still really traumatized him. The thought appeared in his brain, and he took a deep breath, blinking a few times to prevent any tears from forming. Elias forced a smile to his cousin when she commented on his hair. Elias was sure it didn't look all that great now, but it would later. After he could take a nice hot shower. His eyes went down to his hands and he shrugged. "Not...terrible."

Hah, boring! She doubted that. Maria just raised an eyebrow as he said that, smirking a little. "Boring? I heard Margaux visited you." She slowly said, a teasing in her voice. Maria had never seen Elias spend much time with either gender romantically. And, from her own experiences with Margaux, she knew that Margaux and Elias couldn't be having just a casual friendship. Margaux didn't operate that way, and she knew Elias well enough to know he'd fall for the quarter Veela's charm. He might be immune to Maria's Veela blood, but he wouldn't when it came to Margaux, and Margaux knew how to lay it on pretty thick. "Margaux isn't capable of boring." she added after a moment.
Not terrible wasn't the answer she wanted to hear, but it also wasn't the worst answer. "Have they given you something for the pain?" She insisted. If they hadn't, heaven forbid she would make them give him something! Maria was a very protective individual. Usually that came across as angry, and lethal, but right now.... Well, it was almost motherly.

@maria <3 What Elias hadn't been expecting, was for Maria to mention Margaux. He looked at his cousin, and saw her smirk. Slowly, a smirk raised on his own face as he glanced down at his hands, recalling that short but sweet meeting from Margaux. Once the smirk had become full, Elias let out a snort. Well, it definitely was not boring, nor was Margaux. "You're right, she isn't. She's capable of much more."
His eyebrows rose and he tilted his head. "Of course they have. But it isn't going to make it disappear, Maria. And there's tons of pain, especially in my head." He laughed quietly, even though it probably wasn't all that funny. Seeing Fenrir was troubling to him, even if he wasn't the real Fenrir. The last time he had seen his father had ended up with Elias being attacked. And as he thought about that, that's probably the only time he'll ever see him.

Elias' reaction to Maria mentioning Margaux was priceless, and it made her grin widely. Shifting, she reclined back in the chair, and propped her feet up on the bed, making sure not to jostle him in any way in case it cased any pain. "I know." Was all she said. He did not need to know about her and Margaux's antics in detail, but there was no way he could have missed the two sneaking off periodically. But Maria sneaked off with quite a few people, it wasn't unusual behavior for her. And knowing Margaux, she seemed to have the same habit as Maria.
Maria propped an elbow on the arm of the chair, and then her chin in her hand, eyeing her cousin as he spoke. She wasn't smiling or grinning anymore, in fact a deep frown at appeared. "I don't like seeing you in pain, Elias." She slowly and quietly said. They both knew that already. But she also knew she couldn't always protect him, especially with him being the Triwizard champion. She wished she could, but he had to face these tasks alone. "What's going on in your head to cause so much pain?" she added, knowing he hadn't meant physical. If anything, his head at been one of the only parts of his body not injured during the task. So that meant something else was going on up there.

@maria <3 Elias smiled and shook his head at the same time. He found it slightly awkward to speak with Maria about Margaux. All it made him think about was that they had both slept with the same person and it made him feel slightly gross. So, he'd rather not think about it.
"I know you don't, but I signed up for this. You signed up for it. If you had won champion I wouldn't like seeing you in pain either." They cared deeply for one another, but Elias knew Maria was much crazier than he was. He was glad he had someone to worry about him, someone other than his mother who couldn't be here. She visited every few weeks but he knew she wasn't able to stay; his mother didn't have the money for that and to continue living in Bulgaria. He knew Maria would ask about what was going on in his thoughts and he sighed. "A lot. Just...seeing Fenrir was the worst of it." His voice was quiet, the image reappearing in his head.

Maria let out a deep sigh. Of course he'd signed up for this. And she had too. They'd both put their names in the Goblet. They'd both entered knowing that it would mean pain, and suffering, and possible death. They'd agreed to those possibilities when they accepted the offer to come to Hogwarts. Maria had known that if Elias was chosen she wouldn't be able to protect him. And yet? Facing it all was very different then thinking it. "I know." She managed to say, though there wasn't much heart in it. Regardless of having signed up for it, she'd still worry about him.
Brushing her hair onto one shoulder, the girl started to braid her hair, waiting for Elias to start explain what was going on in his head to cause such pain and confusion. It took a few moments, as she'd expected, but when he did manage to finally get the words out, her fingers stopped moving and she looked away from her dark and back into her cousin's eyes. Eyes so similar to her own, both in shape and color that it was almost like seeing her own. There had been a few occasions when the pair had been mistaken for siblings rather then cousins, the family resemblance being so strikingly similar.
Fenrir. His father. Of course, the boggart he'd faced had turned into his father. Maria had never seen what the man looked like until she saw the boggart take his form in front of Elias. The man that had hurt Elias and his mother. Maria felt a trickle of disgust as she thought about the man. Disgust, and then a moment later, anger. How dare the boggart take the form of that man in front of Elias. How dare the images of his father continue to haunt him, even though they weren't real? Maria didn't know what a Boggart might become in front of her, nor did she ever wish to find out. "It wasn't real, Elias." She quietly responded, matching that same tone he'd used. "He won't get near you ever again. He won't hurt you ever again." She added as she sat up, pulling her feet off the bed and moved from the chair to sit at his side. She leaned forward, lightly pressing her lips against his forehead and taking one of his hands in her own. "I won't let it happen, I promise."

@maria <3 Elias simply nodded. Maria only said that she knew, and he didn't want to push it any further. What he was going through and going to continue to go through was a lot, and Maria was his backbone. She was the person that was there for him whenever he needed and the one who would do whatever possible to keep him safe. Yes, not excluding his mother, but she wasn't around right now. Maria was and they had each other. His siblings were a completely different story as he was still getting to know them all and they still didn't really truly know one another yet.
As she stood up and sat down on the bed next to him, he swallowed hard. This wasn't how he was expecting this to go, but who better to speak to about it than Maria? "I know it wasn't real. But when it happened, it...It looked real. He looked real. What would've happened if he was truly there, Maria?" His voice cracked slightly and he looked down as he felt the gentle kiss to his forehead.

Maria reached out a hand, lightly and carefully brushing one of his dark locks away from his face and tucked it behind his ear as he struggled to speak. It was strange, now knowing her cousin's deepest fear. His own father. But not only did she know, bu everyone that had been watching. Elias had been exposed in a way that made Maria shudder. If that been her... She ended that thought before it could even finish forming. "I know." She softly responded. That's what Boggarts did. They brought your fears to life. So real that you might not even know the difference. "He wouldn't have been able to get in. These people may be boring as hell but the lock down they have the school on would have kept in out." She answered. There was no way Fenrir Greyback could have gotten in. "And even if he had, you know I would do anything to get to you. I won't let him hurt you again, Elias." It was probably stupid, insanely stupid, thinking that Maria could do anything if Fenrir Greyback showed up. Some of he greatest witches and wizards had failed at stopping him. But, she knew one thing. She refused to let anyone hurt Elias. No matter what.

@maria <3 Her gentle fingers brushed a hair behind his ear, and his eyes closed at the contact. Maria was always very motherly towards Elias; she tended to fill in for his own mother when she wasn't around. It was comforting for him, and he knew she enjoyed it either way. Eyes opening, he looked at her, doubt in his face. "That's what you think. Voldemort had a way to get in, who says Fenrir wouldn't be able to?" Maybe the school's spells would have worked, but Elias didn't doubt that Fenrir had the power. Maria spoke of protecting him, and it made him smile. "I know you'd try, Maria. But...I'd like to think that at some point in my life I'd be able to take him on, protect myself."

Maria knew she wouldn't be able to fully convince Elias that he'd been safe. That Fenrir wasn't coming for him. One? Because she honestly didn't know that. Fenrir had come back to turn Elias into a werewolf. With all the publicity about Elias and he tournament, what if his father came again? She honestly and truly hoped not. But if he did, like hell would Maria let him hurt Elias ever again. Maria was sick of losing people she cared about. She wouldn't lose Elias. She didn't want to admit he was right though, that Fenrir could have a way into the castle. It was supposed to be safe here, but it'd been proven in the past that people could get in. "Well, hopefully twenty years taught these idiots how to properly fortify the castle." She finally answered, not really agreeing with him, or disagreeing.
Ah, Elias. His comment about some day being able to take on his father, of protecting himself, made him smile. Shew knew that she couldn't always protect him. No matter how much she wished she could. Slowly she nodded. "At least let me protect you a little longer." She softly whispered as she took one of his hands in both of hers and gave it a reassuring squeeze. "At least until we graduate. And then you can put an end to that monster so he can't hurt anyone else with my blessing."
With a sigh she looked up as the clock tower rang, chiming the end of the hour. "I'll let you get some rest. I'll come visit after dinner, okay? Get some sleep." Leaning forward she softly kissed her cousin on the forehead, much like a mother would her child, and then left.
