Anna stood outside the Great Hall, guilt consuming her as she tried to spot Oscar in the crowd leaving after they finished their dinner. She missed it. Actually, she missed all of her meals today and spent a little time in the kitchens to make up for it, but not much. Today was one of her days with more breaks than classes but she hadn't relaxed at all. She was too busy trying to catch up. Honestly, she didn't realize how much time her preparing for the first task had taken away from her homework and her studies, and it was all hitting her now. Today. She'd started studying potions on her first break, until she couldn't stand it anymore. She then moved on to charms and transfiguration and went down the line of classes, trying to at least make sure she was ready for her next period in each class. Amazingly, she'd gotten to almost everything, but there was one class she didn't catch up with yet and she couldn't until it was dark outside. Astronomy. Astronomy wasn't a particularly difficult class but she couldn't put it off anymore, which led to the reason for her guilt.
Anna was supposed to be doing something with Oscar tonight. Alright, so it was a date, but she didn't want to call it that because she was about to cancel on him. This assignment was due soon and she knew she wouldn't be able to enjoy a date with Oscar while it was hanging over her head. So she had to call it off. She didn't want to and she was nervous that he had something planned and would be upset or disappointed, but she figured he would understand. So far he'd been nothing but supportive when it came to helping her with things. She was half-tempted to ask him to join her, but figured he would probably rather do something else other than help her with her homework. So she stood by the wall, scanning the faces of everyone leaving the Great Hall. Where was he?

Generally, Oscar enjoyed eating dinner in the Great Hall. It was fun to experience a manner of different cuisine, and it was one of the times of day when he could talk to Anna generally uninterrupted by classes or other obligations. There was always homework to go back to after dinner, but while they ate, they could pretend that there was nothing left to do except for be with each other. When Oscar went to the Gryffindor table that day, though, there was no Anna. He ate his entire meal with one eye on the doors, hoping that she would appear with some excuse as to why she was late, but that never happened. By the time he was finished eating, Oscar’s mood was a little more sour than usual – where had Anna been? He was walking towards the doors, preparing to go back to the carriage, when he caught a flash of red hair out of the corner of his eye. When he turned, he half-expected it to be Anna’s cousin, but no, there she was. Oscar altered his path so he was walking towards Anna, and raised his arm so she could see him. After battling his way through the throng to reach her, Oscar bent down and kissed Anna’s cheek softly. “Why did you not eat dinner?” He asked, bad mood evaporating in favor of worry for his girlfriend.

Anna spotted Oscar the second he stepped through the doors into the hallway. She tried to catch his attention, but he didn't seem too happy and was focused on the door. Until- for some reason- he turned and looked right at her. Anna grinned at him, gesturing he should come join her. Even just seeing him made her feel a little less stressed out. She smiled as she watched him slowly make his way toward her. Oscar kissed her cheek and Anna leaned into it, wishing she didn't have to cancel their date. She shrugged, "I wasn't hungry. I basically spent my day in the kitchens, studying." Well, that wasn't one hundred percent true, but she did spend quite a bit of time in the kitchens, once it got to mid-afternoon and she couldn't push the hunger down anymore. After going there and eating a bit, she decided to stay and study while eating occasional snacks.
She bit her lip, not really wanted to tell him but also wanting to get it over with. "I'm sorry, I won't be able to go on our date tonight," the words finally escaped her, falling out quickly. Anna tried to relax and explain what was going on like a normal human being would, but she was talking faster than normal in her anxiety to make sure he understood. "I'm really, really sorry, but I've been trying to catch up in my classes since I feel behind because of the tournament and I have to do astronomy, but the only time I can do it is at night and I know you probably have something amazing planned, but I just can't do it. I'm sorry." Once she was done, Anna didn't want to see the look on his face, so she wrapped her arms around his waist and buried her head in his chest, not even caring if anyone saw. It wasn't like their dating was a secret or anything. Anna just didn't want him to be angry at her. Honestly, she didn't really expect Oscar to be upset at all, but the stress was eating at her, as well as guilt from cancelling their date last minute and she really just shouldn't be held responsible for her actions at the moment.

Anna said that she wasn’t hungry, and that made Oscar suspicious instantly. Anna loved food – he had known that since before they had started dating, and the idea of Anna willingly skipping a meal because she “wasn’t hungry” was just strange. When she clarified that she had spent the entire day in the kitchens, Oscar became slightly less suspicious. He wouldn’t interrogate Anna, of course, but he did want to know more about the circumstances of her being in the kitchens, especially since eating and studying simultaneously sounded either really hard or really distracting.
Oscar frowned slightly when Anna said that she couldn’t do on their date that night. He hadn’t been exactly sure of what he had wanted to do with her – probably just sit around and talk about life in general – but it was still disappointing that she had to cancel. Oscar pulled his face back to a neutral expression, and then managed to pull it into a small smile. “It is okay.” He said. When Anna explained further that she had been trying to catch up on homework since the First Task, Oscar felt bad for ever feeling upset in the first place. Just because he was shoddy about completing assignments didn’t mean that he should expect Anna to be, especially since she obviously cared about her grades. “Would you like some company?” Oscar suggested weakly. He didn’t want to distract Anna from her homework, but if they could spend time together while she continued to catch up, then it would be the best of both worlds.

Oscar didn't say anything for a bit and Anna kept her face buried, not wanting to see whatever was crossing his face. Then she heard him say that it was okay, and she even heard a smile in his tone. She pulled away instantly, hardly able to believe that he was smiling when she said she couldn't go on their date. Looking at his face, she could see the disappointment in his eyes, but also the understanding. How had she ever managed to start dating a guy that was so understanding? Then he softly asked if she wanted company and for the first time that day she felt herself start to relax. Oscar helped her do that, she'd known that since Halloween night. The idea of him joining her was perfect. "Yes," she answered without a second thought. "As long as you don't think you'll be too bored," Anna added, wanting to make sure he didn't feel pressured to come. "If I finish early we can just talk," she suggested, hoping he would be up for it.

Anna agreed to let him tag along to do her homework with her, and Oscar beamed at her. He thought it would be a much more pleasant experience for both of them – Anna would have a homework companion and Oscar wouldn’t have to mope around in the carriage, waiting for something interesting to happen. She mentioned that he might get bored, and Oscar shrugged. “I will never be bored with you.” He swore that he could just sit beside Anna for hours on end and always find something new to think about or do. They didn’t need to talk, even though talking was nice. Anna was the one person with whom Oscar could just be, and he loved that about her. She said that if she finished her homework early, they could talk, and Oscar smiled wider. It was almost like she read his train of thought, about being together and talking being nice, too. Honestly, Oscar wouldn’t be surprised if Anna somehow acquired mind-reading as a talent. “What do you have to do?” Oscar asked curiously, partially because he wanted to know how long this would take, and partially because he wanted to be able to talk to Anna about what she was actually doing, instead of just random things.

Oscar was grinning at her and Anna really couldn't be happier. She never really thought that he would just want to go with her to do homework, but she was so glad that he did. "I'm glad," she told him, though that was definitely an understatement. She grabbed his hand and started leading him to the stairs, wanting to get her homework done now so she could spend more time with Oscar. "Come on, let's get this over with," she muttered with a smile. He asked what Anna had to do and she shrugged, "Finish a chart. I think I have it mostly done. It should take less than an hour, maybe a half hour?" Anna answered apologetically, hoping he wouldn't mind waiting that long. Still, he said he wouldn't be bored, so it should be fine. Still, sitting there while your girlfriend looked at stars through a telescope wasn't particularly interesting. "So how was your day?" she asked as they scaled the staircases, one after another. She hadn't seen him all day, so she was curious.

Anna seemed keen to finish her homework, and Oscar couldn’t blame her. Homework wasn’t fun. She said that all she had to do was a star chart, and Oscar nodded. It didn’t sound like a horrible amount of work – just precise and a little bit boring. At least it was already dark out, so they wouldn’t have to waste time waiting for sunset or anything of the sort. Oscar followed Anna up the many, many staircases that he presumed led to the Astronomy Tower, and he shrugged when she asked how his day was. “Classes were boring.” That wasn’t anything new, but Oscar still felt obligated to say it. “I was sad that I did not see you at dinner.” He wasn’t sure whether she had seen the look on his face before he had spotted her in the crowd, but Oscar was not at his happiest when Anna wasn’t around, and her busyness as of the past few days had made him not at his happiest quite a bit. “I will be glad when you are caught up on work.” He added.

When Oscar said that he missed her, Anna stopped her trek up the stairs and turned to face him, a small smile creeping onto her face. "I was sad that I missed dinner," she answered before reaching up and giving him a gentle kiss. She missed spending time with him over the last few days and she wanted that to change. Which is why she focused so much on her homework today. "Once I finish Astronomy tonight, I will be caught up," she told him with a small grin before taking his hand once more and leading him up the stairs. When they finally reached the top of the Astronomy tower, Anna reached into her bag and pulled out the chart she had to finish before she turned to look at Oscar. "Let me finish this and then we can do whatever you want, yeah?" she asked with a small smile. Honestly, having him there with her was probably going to help her finish faster. All Anna wanted to do was focus on Oscar right now. But she couldn't. Not until she was done with this.

Oscar frowned when Anna said that she was sad she had missed dinner. He had expected as much, but it was still sad to hear her say it. The frown quickly turned upside down, though, when Anna said that she would be caught up on her homework after she finished the Astronomy chart she was working on that night. She took his hand and led him up to the Astronomy tower, and Oscar smiled. There was a telescope, of course, but from this high up, the stars were still perfectly crisp to the naked eye. “We could also do what you want.” Oscar said with a shrug. “I do not care much what I do, as long as I do it with you.” Spending time with Anna was the only thing he really could do at Hogwarts, since his friendship with other Beauxbatons students were superficial at best. “But I have ideas, I suppose.” There were some things that he would like to do with Anna, but he wasn’t going to push her to do anything she didn’t want to do, especially not while homework was still on her mind.

Anna smiled when he said that he was fine doing what she wanted. Oscar was so sweet. Still, she shook her head at him, "Nope! You get to choose. I've been doing homework all day and my brain is almost done. So you'll be making the decisions tonight," she grinned slyly and winked at him before moving over to sit next to a telescope. She wasn't sure if she'd need it on such a clear night, but it was better to be next to it, just in case. Really, Anna was curious to see what Oscar would choose to do with her, but she wasn't going to make a big deal out of it no matter what he said. Anna really was tired of thinking and she just wanted to relax with Oscar, doing whatever he wanted to do. "You just figure out those ideas and we'll see how fast I can get this done," she said before turning her attention to the chart in her hand. Her eyebrows narrowed as she focused on it, figuring out what she needed to work on. Before long she was using the telescope and looking between it and her paper, carefully marking stars and planets and moons, whatever needed to be on there. It was surprisingly easy to focus on her homework with Oscar was there. She was nervous that he'd distract her- not that he would try to distract her, more that she'd be distracted with him nearby- but it wasn't a problem at all. After minutes that probably took hours for him and flew by for her, Anna was done. She grinned as she folded up her chart and slid it into her backpack. "I'm done! How long did that take?" Anna grinned over at Oscar, feeling giddy as the weight of homework finally left her shoulders. She was free!

Oscar crinkled his nose at Anna. He appreciated that she had been doing homework all day and was thus mentally exhausted, but he wasn’t sure he was prepared to choose what they were doing – the last time he had been in charge had been when they did their history lesson that wasn’t much of a lesson at all. That, or the dancing lesson, which had been equally disastrous. So, Oscar wasn’t confident in his abilities to be an effective date planner, or not planner. He nodded nonetheless, trying to sort out his ideas. None of them seemed particularly good at this juncture, but he was thinking about Anna’s homework, and how beautiful the night was, and Oscar was beginning to think that he might not mind learning a little about the stars.
Oscar didn’t know how long it had been when Anna finished her homework, so when she half-shouted that she was done, Oscar jumped, and then shook his head when she asked how long it took. “I do not know.” He replied, smiling slightly at how happy she looked. “Here is my idea.” Oscar said slowly. “I would like to learn about the stars. Constellations, I mean.” He clarified. It wasn’t the most romantic date idea, having to teach your boyfriend about constellations, but since they were already up there and Oscar was curious, he figured it was good to ask. “If you do not like, we can do something else.” He hurried to add. He didn’t want Anna to feel like he wanted her to do more work after she had just finished.

Anna rolled her eyes when Oscar said he didn't know how long she was working on her homework. She didn't care, but she thought he'd probably be bored enough to time her. Apparently not, which meant that he'd been focused on something else. He was smiling over at her and Anna just wanted to be closer to him. So she stood up and moved over to where he was standing. He gave her his idea and Anna grinned. He wanted her to teach him something? That was a first. "You want me to teach you about the constellations?" She asked, wanting to make sure she didn't misunderstand. Then she shrugged when he seemed to hesitate at the idea. "I like the stars. I can show you some stuff, but let's get more comfortable first." She waved her wand and summoned a few blankets and pillows, that were kept up here just for the students who preferred to look up at the stars without a telescope. Anna sat down quickly, patting the now-padded floor beside her before laying down on her back. "Come on. This is way more comfortable than just standing there," she said with a smile. "So do you want to start with the easy ones or my favorites?" Anna asked. Honestly, there were only a few constellations that she knew without looking at her charts, but she would happily show them to Oscar.

Oscar nodded when Anna confirmed that he wanted to learn about the constellations. It was probably a surprise that he would willingly learn something, but part of the allure of it was that if he wanted to stop at any time, he could say so, and he and Anna could move on to doing something more interesting. Anna said that she liked the stars, which made Oscar smile. He was glad that he had chosen a subject that would make her as happy as it made him. Anna summoned various bits and bobs that would make the floor of the tower more comfortable, and Oscar sprawled himself on the blanket, his body parallel with Anna’s. If he wasn’t worried that it would obscure her view, he would have pulled her into his chest. As it was, he grabbed her hand and squeezed it before answering her question. “Let us start with your favorites.” When he taught her French, he was going to start with the basics, but French and stars were two vastly different things. Oscar paused. “I would think it would be hard to choose favorite stars.” They all looked the same to Oscar, which was going to make this experience an interesting one.

So he wanted her to teach him about the stars. Anna could do that and she was ready to start. Mostly there were three main constellations that she liked and wanted to show him. After that, if he wanted to keep going she would, but she didn't care. She smiled when he said she should start with her favorites and squeezed his hand back. She was about to point up and point out her favorite when Oscar commented that it would be hard to have a favorite. "Not really," Anna said with a shrug, even though he wasn't lookingat her. "Then again, my favorite is my favorite because it's the easiest one for me to find. It's called Orion." She pointed up to three stars that were clustered pretty close together. "See those three stars? Those are called Orion's belt, because they are in the middle of the constellation and Orion is supposed to be a great hunter. Those three stars," she pointed to them, hoping that this made sense, "make his torso, with the top one being his head. The nearby stars to the left make his club, while those ones on the right make his shield. Those two underneath the belt are his feet. So if you connect all the stars in your mind, it makes the picture of a hunter." Anna turned her head to look at Oscar, curious about what he would think of all this. "Have I confused you enough yet?" She asked with a smile. Maybe he wouldn't want to hear about any more after this abysmal attempt. It was probably a good thing she decided she wanted to be an auror instead of a Charms teacher. She probably would have ended up confusing all her students.
