"Ya know who I am, bu' I don' know yur name ye'." he grinned as he looked back down at jade. he was already in the air and flying but he called back to her. "rocco! rocco layton" he said as he turned his head and leaned forward slightly toward the broom, making his way up to where his brother and the students were all hovering on their brooms, trying to work out what they were all going to do. "any potential seekers up here?" he asked them, glancing over to the other side of the pitch where he could see one of the scouts trying to score a goal while one of the students guarded the goals. "he's good .." he made the observation as he stretched and relaxed in preparation for what they were about to do. he would help them with their keeping and chasing till someone wanted to show off their seeking abilities. "lets get started then, big brother" he said to wesley. "give these kids the chance to show what they can do" he said as he winked at the girl who was in the air with him, jade and wes and he flew to the side, signalling for another quaffle to be brought up. "ready kid?" he called out to the one sitting in the goals.

@jade & @cyrus & @jill9 & @evelyn & @dustin @daniel & @jamie & @dastan koda watched with a grin as everyone around him was suddenly in the air so they could test out the kids abilities. it seemed they had enough chasers in the air for that set of goals so he turned his view to the other end of the pitch to where a student was defending goals against one of the scouts. that was where he was headed. he smiled at evelyn, one of the players from the falcons and he reached down to pick his broom up, walking along the white line on the bottom of the pitch. he spotted a student standing there, hufflepuff if he wasn't mistake by the color she was wearing. she seemed to be unsure at what to do and that wasn't going to make a good impression on them. he walked over to her and stopped. "standing on the sidelines won't get you noticed. stay down here much longer and they might not watch you at all" he said, not in a harsh way but he was serious. if she didn't get up there soon the other students would be a whole lot more interesting to the scouts because they had shown the intuition to start. he mounted his broom and kicked off from the ground. he flew toward the goals at the other end of the pitch and he took the quaffle from the scout and grinned at the kid who was guarding. "not bad kid. want to try it against me for a while?" he asked as he tossed the quaffle between his hands lightly, waiting for an answer. "what's your name?"

Jamie wasn’t waiting for long when one of the professionals came up to her, telling her that she wouldn’t be noticed if she was on the sidelines. She drew herself up a little, meeting him in the eyes, chin up with a confidence she didn’t feel. “I don’t need to be first to be noticed.” Jamie said, voice surprisingly steady for the way her insiders were roiling. She took a deep breath through her nose, and let it out. Her flying would speak for itself. She wasn’t amazing, but she was consistent, and she worked hard, and that was what they wanted, wasn’t it? Jamie didn’t wait long after that to mount her broom, pushing off with one smooth motion. She recognized Dan in the air, but didn’t want to distract him from whatever he was doing. Instead, Jamie moved to where a Beauxbatons boy was guarding the goal posts, hovering near the edges of the pitch. She would wait for the shot, and either get the rebound off the Keeper’s block or retrieve the Quaffle from the other side of the goals. Anticipating the next move would get her brownie points if nothing else did.

It was a clear day, and Tatiana Krum was seated in the Quidditch stands instead of being out on the pitch. The first scouting session of the year for the Quidditch teams in the British and Irish League had begun, and there were a number of students who were vying for positions among some of the world's best players, some of whom were right in front of her. In fact, Tania recognized each of the professionals there, and, if asked, she could have spouted off their names and various statistics about their playing careers.
There was also Nikolai, her own brother, and Tania found it rather entertaining to see him there. To her, he was just Nikolai, and she couldn't imagine thinking of him as anything but her eldest sibling. She had given him a small wave as he had entered, but she hadn't wanted to be a distraction. He was actually working.
The captain of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team, Jamie Greyback, was one of the students who was being scouted, as was Daniel Hoh. Tania had her fingers crossed for them both. They deserved to make it, she thought, and hopefully the professional players present would be able to see that, too. She always had her parents to help pull some strings, although she knew that it would be frowned upon.
Jamie had the most to gain, perhaps. Although Elias was currently in the spotlight as the Durmstrang Champion in the Triwizard Tournament, their father's infamy was a risk to their chances of success. Tania hoped that none of the professionals there would be so prejudiced, but she had learned that the world wasn't as rose-colored as she had once believed.
On the pitch, there was considerable banter between the professionals as they—along with the students—took to the skies. Tania wished that she had brought a pair of Omnioculars along, and she shifted her focus from one player to the next, trying to take it all in.

Irina was a whole bucket load of emotions that morning, so it was a relief to her that Dan was flying around and couldn't sense her emotions that far away. She was very excited for him of course; she had helped him practice for this day several times and she honestly believed that anyone not willing to recruit him was a fool...or didn't need a jack of all trades on their team. Still, watching the scouts and professionals gather on the field made Irina's heart begin to race. She saw her brother of course, he had written her ahead of time saying he'd be there. That'd be good for Dan at least; Nikolai knew how good of a player her boyfriend was. Her anxiety level rose a little as she watched one of the professionals fly over to Dan and instructed him to fly over to the hoops. He was being tried for Keeper, she realized; she couldn't help but smile as she became more excited than nervous. Good, his best position. She looked briefly to Tania who was sitting next to her before turning her attention back to Dan. Without saying a word, she reached over and grabbed her sisters hand, squeezing it tightly. "He loves Keeping, he'll show them," she found herself saying out loud. speaking to: @tatiana, anyone else around

Dastan was doing quite a good job Keeping at the moment. Not that he was surprised; keeping and chasing were his preferred positions on the Quidditch pitch. It was just, he expected himself to be more nervous in front of a bunch of scouts, but he wasn't. In fact, he was rather enjoying himself with the scout in front of him. Then someone else flew over and took the Quaffle from the scout, clearly deciding to take over. Which probably meant that he was a captain or something, which was fine with Dastan. At least the guy was cheerful. Dastan gave a wide smile back at him, "Go ahead," he encouraged with a nod, his eyes narrowing as he focused even more. He wasn't worried about his performance, but he wanted to do well so he was going to focus. "I am Dastan Oscarsson. And you are?" It was mostly politeness that made Dastan ask the question, but the truth was that he didn't know the man in front of him. He didn't follow the English Quidditch teams very well. Hopefully that wouldn't make the man too upset. If he did, then Dastan would just have to impress someone else, here or in France.

Three on one, that sounded like the usual, considering there were three chasers per game. But, he wouldn't have any beaters on his side so... that would make it a little more difficult. It looked like it would be the two professionals, Jade and Wes, as well as Roxanne Weasley from the Gryffindor team. Jade kept talking about being cold and Dan laughed. She clearly hadn't been to Bulgaria if she thought THIS was cold. "Yeah, I can do three on one, since that's standard for a game. You can fight about who gets to. The fourth one should help me so I'm not bombarded," he chuckled. It would give him a chance to show a lot of different skills, as well as grace under disappointment, for they were bound to score. He wasn't a god.... mostly.
He sped over to the goal posts on the side they had chosen, his eye catching Irina and Tania in the stands. He smiled at them and gave Irina a confident wink. He turned toward his competitors and nodded, "ready when you guys are."

Wes grinned at his brother as he flew over, but waved him off. “Come now baby bro, can’t have them facing something that doesn’t exist. ” he said fairly. He wanted to see what this Durmstrang had, but didn’t want to overload him; that wouldn’t be fair to him. “Why don't you try and steal the Quaffle from us Roc, that's fair since Dan here will be facing three Chasers without defense,” he suggested, going into Captain mode. Wes looked to Jade and grinned at the Jamaican beauty. “Jade, shall we start by rehearsing some of the...moves we’ve been practicing?” he said, giving her a wink. He gestured to Roxy and they flew out to halfway across the pitch and he pulled them into a huddle. “Start off with a Hawkshead Formation, then go into Porksoff Ploy,” he instructed, tucking the Quaffle under his arm.

he raised his brow when wes waved him off. “Come now baby bro, can’t have them facing something that doesn’t exist. ” he rolled his eyes and shook his head. "i didn't say anything about doing something that doesn't exist wes .. just if you were ready to give these kids the chance to show what they could do" he said as he tossed the quaffle he had into the air above his head so it could hover there encase the one they were using vanished on them, as had happened before. “Why don't you try and steal the Quaffle from us Roc, that's fair since Dan here will be facing three Chasers without defense,” he nodded his head as he flew away from them. "fine." clearly his brother wanted to fly with the jamaican called jade and who was he to step in the way of what his brother wanted. he flew to the posts and looked at dan. "i'm rocco." he said with a grin as he looked back at wes, jade and roxy. he wasn't worried about trying to get the quaffle from them, he had been a chaser in school before he had been a seeker and he'd been a good one.

@jade & @cyrus & @jill9 & @evelyn & @dustin @daniel & @jamie & @dastan “I don’t need to be first to be noticed.” he raised his brow and turned his head back to look at the girl standing on the sidelines. "i didn't say you needed to be first. just that you had to do something so you get noticed at all" he said as he turned back to the direction he was flying. already he was starting to mentally feel like she wasn't someone he'd want on his team. he wanted forward thinkers, people who didn't stand on the sidelines and ones who had conviction in their actions. like the student he was flying toward. he tucked the quaffle under his arm ad they started to converse after the scout had left them. "I am Dastan Oscarsson. And you are?" he chuckled as he flew closer so he was hovering next to dastan and he stuck out his hand, the one not holding the quaffle for him to shake. "dakoda wulfe, captain of the appleby arrows" he said. he didn't usually tell people he was captain of a team unless they already knew but in this isnatnce it was pretty important the kids learned who was who to judge where they wanted to go based off of first impressions. "do you always play keeper?"

Jamie was frustrated. She had anticipated the next move and put herself in a position to do well when it came, but then it never came. That was of no matter, though. Hufflepuffs were known for their patience, and Jamie was a good example of that. She would wait if she had to. She circled around the posts, keeping her circles tight and her broom in control. They would have to go back to playing eventually, Jamie thought to herself. Otherwise she wouldn’t be well off, that was for sure. She glanced over at the stands, where two of the Krum sisters were sitting. They weren't there for Jamie, she knew that much - Irina was probably there to support Dan, and Tania to support Irina. Jamie shrugged it off. She didn't need adoring fans. She just needed something to happen.

Roxy didn't say anything while the others figured out the parameters of what they were doing, though she listened carefully and returned Jade's smile. Once the rules were decided, Wes pulled her and Jade into a huddle. Hawkshead into Porksoff - she hadn't done them in combination before, but she knew them both. There was just one thing that needed clarification. She nodded once, and looked to Wes to ask, "Who goes low?"

Dastan smiled when the man who joined him and the scout basically dismissed the other player. So he must be pretty important. The good news was that Dastan was getting a short reprieve from keeping while the man wanted to talk, which was probably a good thing since this was one of the people Dastan should probably be trying to impress. Honestly though, he wasn't really trying. He was having fun playing a game that he really missed ever since coming to Hogwarts. Sure, he got to play a little every once-in-a-while, but not half as much as he wanted to. "Nice to meet you," Dastan smiled as he reached forward and shook hands with the man in front of him, who was apparently the captain of one of the teams. That was a good place to start. At his question Dastan shook his head, "I play keeper or chaser," he told Dakoda honestly. It should be obvious by what he was doing with the scout that he was very good at keeping, but as a general rule he preferred chasing. He enjoyed being in the middle of things. Still, keeping was a challenge and Dastan was always up for a challenge. Unless it involved beating. He hated trying to hit bludgers. Not that the captain needed to know that.

Jade was still shivering, but hopefully she'd stop when they started going. She did NOT want to turn into a human popsicle, even though she seriously felt like one. She'd tucked her arms in tight against her chest, breathing on her fingers so they didn't freeze off. She stopped when Wes made a very suggestive comment, an eyebrow raising. "Ya already know I'm no' one fur plays, Wes. I like keepin' ya on yer toes." just like his comment, there was s double meaning to it. "Ya owe me coffee after dis, so ya know." She added after a moment. None the less, she nodded as he explained what plays he wanted to do. Today wasn't about them, it was giving the students a chance to show the professionals what they could do.

Wes simply gave Jade a wink to communicate that he got both meanings of her little message. “Anything for you,” he promised with a cheeky grin, then turned back to Roxy. “With miss No-Playbook here why don’t you go low Roxy?” he suggested, then gestured for them to start. Quaffle under his arm, he raced towards the Durmstrang boy hovering at the hoops, his focus completely on him to not let on what play he was executing. At the absolute last minute, he shot up, throwing the Quaffle down for Roxy to catch. He looped around to see how Daniel fared with this play.
