@emile so it was the day after the tournament and eli had yet to congratulate his cousin on his win. of course he'd been watching and he'd been glad when the guy had won but when he'd been searching for him to talk to him he'd see him preoccupied with a certain red haired girl. lunch was generally a time to look for people. they all ate in the great hall so unless emile was skipping lunch for some reason this is where he would be. he walked between the tables as he finally found where his cousin was sitting. he moved to the table and grinned as he dropped into the open seat next to him and he leaned back against the table. "so i see your recent win didn't change people's views of you?" he said as he reached back to grab an apple from the platter of fruit behind him, looking back at emile as he took a bite of it. after swallowing it he remembered what he had to say. "congratulations by the way. i'd have said it yesterday but .. you were busy" he smirked slightly as he took another bite of the apple.

@alexandre Émile had expected something a little different after winning the first task. Fame and glory he could do without, but he had figure that it would at least generate a little more interest in who he was and what he was about. Instead, it was starting to look like people were a little afraid of him. Sure, he beat the hell out of a manticore, but wasn’t that expected out of a Triwizard champion? Apparently not, seeing as the other two hadn’t come across anything nearly as dangerous as that while in the maze. He had exited relatively unscathed though, so maybe it had something to do with that, or the way he willingly risked life and limb to get the job done.
Whatever the reason was, only one brave soul decided to sit near him at lunch. Glancing up from his food, Émile smiled as he recognized the face. “Wouldn’t have it any other way.” He shrugged, grinning at his cousin as he did so. “Merci. You’re one of the few to say that by the way, even my original advisor skipped town to avoid my victory speech.” No matter, he had a new one now. Neither had done too much to help him out, other than giving pointers on the potential tasks and how to handle the media presence. The new one was far worse than the first though, at least she knew what she was talking about. Émile narrowed his eyes at Elliot at the comment about being busy. Apparently that had been rather obvious, not that he cared too much. “She’s a wiry one,” he took a sip of his drink, swallowing it before continuing. “But knows when to push and pull.”

@emile “Wouldn’t have it any other way. Merci. You’re one of the few to say that by the way, even my original advisor skipped town to avoid my victory speech.” eli grinned and rolled his eyes slightly. it wasn't surprising to him. though he didn't understand why people held things against emile like they did. thin skin and a lack of self confidence in themselves was probably a part of that reason but eli didn't think emile had time for those sort of people. "well you do seem to have that effect on the people that don't have to love you" he said with a grin as he took another bite of the apple and took a moment to glance around the table his cousin was sitting at. he knew a few of their faces but couldn't match names to them. “She’s a wiry one, But knows when to push and pull.” he nodded slightly and swallowed the bite of apple and leaned his elbow back on the table. "i've noticed that" he said with a slight smirk and he swung himself around n the bench to tuck his legs under the table so he was facing the same way as his cousin. "but if she's got you chasing her she must be something else."

@alexandre Émile snorted as his cousin stated that he had the effect of people hating him. That had been rather obvious since his first day of school at Beauxbatons. People couldn’t handle when someone was better than they were, Émile included. Now he had solidified that he was the greatest of the Beauxbatons students, and the take down of the manticore in the maze was surely going to make headlines. In his research of the previous tournament at Hogwarts, he had come across how the four champions then had to each fight a dragon. Had his co-champions, if they were even worthy of that title anymore, had gone up against the manticore, would they have fared just as well as he had? Having looked at them after they exited the maze, Émile would have said probably not. “They mix up confidence and strength with arrogance and cockiness. I need a little bit of all of them, but there’s a difference between saying something and actually doing it.” Émile was pretty sure he had told one of the reporters the exact same thing when she had asked him about his confidence. That had been proven at this point, hopefully.
He smiled as Eli said that he had noticed the little thing he had going with Ripley. The younger boy was sharp, that was for sure. “She’s a Krum. So my only option is to chase.” Grabbing a glass of water, he knocked it back quickly. “I’d say she’s the hardest task of this tournament so far. But we’ll see if that ends up changing or not.” Continuing to eat for a few seconds, Émile thought about what he could do to prepare for the second task. There hadn’t been any information given so far, other than a rough date for it and that it would be after the winter break. It was frustrating to sit by idly without much to do. “What about you? Any girls here or from the other schools you’ve taken a liking to? Although I’d keep the last name to yourself, I probably scare half of them now.”

@emile “The mix up confidence and strength with arrogance and cockiness. I need a little bit of all of them, but there’s a difference between saying something and actually doing it.” he grinned a little and let his eyes roll slightly as he looked at his cousin with a raised eyebrow. "just a little of each? you have them in spades cousin." he teased as he took another bite of the apple. he had grown up around emile so he was used to him. they were alike in many ways though eli didn't have that sharp edge that came with being emile. “She’s a Krum. So my only option is to chase. I’d say she’s the hardest task of this tournament so far. But we’ll see if that ends up changing or not.” he laughed a little and leaned his arms down on the table and nodded slightly. he knew a few people that had tried and failed to interest the daughter of the famous viktor krum. "she might keep you chasing her for the whole year .. i for one would pay to watch that" he joked as he finished the apple he'd been eating and he tossed the core into the small bin on the table for things like that. it was nice to be able to spend time with his cousin outside of summer holidays. while they had been great, better than being stuck at home during them with his father's staff while the man worked his life away, it was nice to be able to see him when he wanted or at least try and see him when he wanted. “What about you? Any girls here or from the other schools you’ve taken a liking to? Although I’d keep the last name to yourself, I probably scare half of them now.” he smirked again and shook his head. "your charm has already scared the ones i like away. they know who i am .. they know who you are and wham .. they scatter .. thanks for that" he wasn't serious. he'd done his own job of scaring them away from him. apparently girls didn't like honesty and a confident attitude. "and i think the visiting schools have better things to do than care about a fifth year" he knew he was too young to think about the girls from the other schools. plus he wasn't really interested. yet.

@alexandre The Beauxbatons student laughed as Eli countered back about his confidence and cockiness. He wasn’t wrong by any stretch. There were certain things that came with being the best, and it just so happened that a decent dosage of confidence and cockiness was the correct cocktail for assuring a guaranteed victory in life. Émile’s smile grew as his cousin stated Ripley could keep him hanging on by a thread all year. “Wouldn’t that be fun…” He flipped around on his seat so that he was facing the backs of the people sitting at the table next to his. It was somewhat liberating not to have people packed in all around him, kind of like the other students had done with the two other champions. Scaring them with skill was just step one in the whole plan to win the tournament. Everyone knew who he was now and that he was serious. The same could be said for the Hogwarts champion, in a way, since she had finished right behind him. Elias on the other hand…poor man-child apparently didn’t do well with giant slugs and boggarts pretending to be daddy dearest. At least that’s what Émile had heard.
He let out an even louder laugh than the ones before at the mention that he had scared girls away from Eli. “C’est dommage. That’s too bad.” His French had been slipping out more since giving an interview for a French newspaper the day before. It wasn’t that he hated the language, he just preferred to be speaking the language of the majority, since English was always on the backburner at Beauxbatons. Émile wagged his finger back and forth at Eli as he commented that none of the girls from the other two schools would care at him. “I ever tell you about Margaux Schuyler? I’m sure you’ve seen her around. Well anyways…let’s just say she wouldn’t care if you were a fifth year or not.” Émile raised his eyebrows, hoping that his cousin would understand where he was going with that.

@emile “I ever tell you about Margaux Schuyler? I’m sure you’ve seen her around. Well anyways…let’s just say she wouldn’t care if you were a fifth year or not.” he smirked and raised a brow before turning to his cousin with an almost smug look on his face. he was certain emile knew from personal experience that margaux wouldn't care that he was a fifth year. something about the tone in his voice. he could be wrong but he wouldn't bet against it. it was never a smart idea to bet against a gut feeling. "well if you know her well enough to know that ... i'm sure you've already experienced her and in that case .. i don't do sloppy seconds." he said with a smirk as he leaned his arms down on the table. he wasn't all that interested in finding someone to have a relationship with at the moment. maybe after the christmas break he would. or in the start of next year. he wasn't too sure. he rubbed his hair from his forehead and turned his head to look at the people who were eating and moving around them. he always liked to know what was going on in the space that he was in, to know if it was a happy mood or a not so happy mood. today seemed to be one of those rare days when the atmosphere was all happy. "so any other girls other than ripley caught your eye? i mean there has to be at least a few more you have a chance with here .. unlike the beauxbatons girls you've spent seven years putting offside" he said with a grin.

@alexandre Émile knew that Eli had understood exactly what he was getting at. What he didn’t expect was that kind of response from his cousin. Émile looked off to the side, observing a group of students in a circle giggling about something. The Hogwarts girls seemed to do that a lot. It was kind of annoying that they roamed in packs. Not that it mattered to him anymore, he wasn’t looking to introduce himself to them anyways. If they didn’t know who he was at this point, that was their loss.
“Your words, not mine.” He came back with on the comment about Margaux. He’d never straight out tell anyone that, but she did get around from time to time. It was a little fun game he played, trying to figure out who Margaux was prowling around. Lately she seemed to have taken a keen interest in some of the Durmstrangs, not that she would let that detract from her typical…habits, if that was the proper word for it.
“Any other girls?” He couldn’t recall any ones in particular. Ripley had caught hold of him rather early on in the game and she had kept pulling him back in, further and further each time. The events from yesterday had been a prime example of that. “My advisor was a real looker. She ditched me though.” Émile shrugged, watching the group of students off to the side continue to giggle their annoying little heads off.

@emile “My advisor was a real looker. She ditched me though.” eli raised a brow and nodded his head slightly. well that was a little weird that someone who had been supposed to be there to help his cousin has suddenly ditched him. a little unfair of her too. but he wouldn't say anything about that, he knew what answers emile would come out with so it was a moot point really. he rubbed the back of his neck and shot his cousin a smirk though. "well do you blame her? she was probably struggling to be in the same room as you and your head." he said turning the smirk to a grin as he poked his brothers shoulder. he didn't mind his cousins ego but it was something that was there to tease him about, though never in a more than humo way. he himself didn't exactly have a small ego so it wasn't like he could talk. "so have they given you any clues as to what the next challenge is?"

@alexandre Émile laughed at the comment about his advisor having difficulty being in the same room as him. It had definitely seemed like she wasn’t too keen about his attitude towards the whole thing. The problem was that he was pretty sure her profession was being a model or something. She was great with dealing with the publicity, but what did she know about tournament tasks or how to prepare for them? Everything she could help him with had to do with looking the best. Émile didn’t need to look the best when he was already the best. “Most people do. Not my fault that I’m better than the majority.” He shrugged. There was no reason to be humble about it when it was clearly obvious to everyone around them.
He turned his head to the side as he thought about what the second task could be. As far as he could tell, he only had the date of it. Surely they would give some information in the weeks leading up to it. That’s what they had done about the potion for the maze. What a lucky decision it had been to take the fire-resistance potion too. Who knew it would come in handy like that? “Not yet. But if you hear anything, let me know.” Émile thought about what he said for a second. Surely Eli would go to him first over the Hogwarts champion. They were in the same house weren’t they? He could never remember, since the girl wasn’t important. She was lucky just to come in second.

@emile “Most people do. Not my fault that I’m better than the majority.” that was probably the most emile thing to come out of his mouth all day. he was used to his cousin by now. they were sort of the same really. eli knew he could be cocky and arrogant at times but he tried not to drown people in it. "yeah that's true. it's not your fault." though he had over the years come to look up to his cousin. he didn't mind his arrogance, it got you places in the world and it was honest at least. “Not yet. But if you hear anything, let me know.” he brought two fingers to his forehead and mock saluted emile. of course he would. he might be a hogwarts student but emile was family. if the champion from his school had been anyone else then eli would go for anna but there was something important about loyalty. "you'll be the first i tell, i promise. i can start digging for you." he said with a grin as he reached to take a piece of bacon from the plate on the table.

@alexandre It was kind of nice having someone around to agree with him on things, especially things about him. Émile knew he was cocky and arrogant; it came with being French. And being the best. But besides those two little factoids, it wasn’t like he was always happy being that way. Sometimes he couldn’t help it. There was no competition at home since his siblings were dull as anything, and he didn’t see Eli that much other than during breaks. Outside of that, there were no friends, and only recently was there anything remotely close to what he had with Ripley. Some would call that loneliness. Émile replaced those feelings with power struggles in every game and test that he could find. They filled that empty space. He was aware of those issues and unfortunately it was too late in the game to fix them, especially now that he was a Triwizard champion. In a way, Eli was right. This wasn’t his fault. The Goblet picked him because it knew he had the best shot at winning, all of that being solidified yesterday.
Smiling at his cousin’s salute, Émile looked back at the table to see if there was anything else interesting to eat. A muffin maybe? He reached back and grabbed whatever his hand touched first, returning with a croissant. How fitting. He hated them. Food was food though. Taking a bite, he nodded his head a little as Eli said he could start looking for information. At this point Émile was pretty much on his own without his advisor. If Beauxbatons or the committee running the show decided he needed a new one, he’d just decline. The last one didn’t help much at all, he ended up taking the proper potion for the task as well. “Be careful though. Isn’t that Hogwarts girl, whatever her name is, in your house? The one that’s apparently a champion too.” He had to be careful with her though. She was only a few seconds behind him. Granted, she hadn’t gone up against a manticore.

"you mean anna weasley? might want to learn that name cuz. she might beat you in the next task." he said with a grin as he made to stand up from the table. as much as he'd love to sit there and banter with his cousin all morning he had homework and things to do, the joys of being in school. "but i'll keep my fingers crossed and my ears open for you." he said with a laugh as he stepped out from the benches lining the tables in the great hall and he clapped emile on the back lightly as he made to walk past him. "catch you later, homework screams." he said as left his cousin sitting in the great hall and headed back to his common room.
-- ended.
