Addilyn had been sitting at a nearby table, waiting for Edmund. She wasn't sure where, possibly to get drinks or more food or to see his two sisters. Addi hadn't really met them formally, but she also wasn't sure that Edmund had told them yet. Hopefully he did, as they went to the Ball together and she was really hoping they could be more open about it soon. Addilyn loved him, and while she wanted to respect him and keep this a secret as long as he needed, she was beginning to feel as if he was embarrassed of her.
She took a sip of her water and she spotted her brother, looking spiffy in his suit. She wondered what he'd say about her low cut dress, with the entire back open, but she decided to just not mention it. Addi laughed quietly to herself, but realized he was speaking to Ondina. Her eyes narrowed slightly. This didn't look good and she truly hoped Ondina wasn't trying to just hurt her brother. She sat back in her chair, watching intently.

@jill2 Everything was finished up with Ondina. Finally. The whole ordeal. There were a lot of hands involved with Grey’s little problem and he needed to make sure he thanked those that were integral to curing his affliction. He had already thanked Irina on numerous occasions, since it was her antidote that finally ended the love potion problem, but Finn and Addi were the other forces at work. Grey had spotted Finn wandering around earlier in the night on his own but he didn’t want to bother his friend in case he was doing security rounds. Addi was the same, minus the security gig and with the addition of Edmund. The plan to shock Ondina, which really didn’t happen the way he had hoped but was fun regardless, had gone a lot smoother than he had thought and without too much of a fight. Actually, there really wasn’t much of anything on her end, which was exactly how he wanted it. There had been a tiny thought at some point that maybe she did actually like him but didn’t know how to express it, using the love potion instead to make him fall in love with her artificially. That was the after effects of the potion talking though, and the finale that had just concluded helped him realize that he was just a toy in her game. His last hope for anything with her was severed by a clean cut and now he was free again.
After wandering around the dance floor for a few minutes and talking to others, Grey eventually spotted his sister sitting at a table by herself. It was too early in the night to be tired from dancing and the lack of Edmund anywhere in sight was slightly concerning. Luckily Grey had taken on a new tone of positivity lately and he decided to disregard the lack of the other Slytherin as simply getting something to eat or drink for the two of them. Hopefully. Strange things happened at organized school dances. The likes of which his newspaper’s new gossip column was looking to snatch up as fast as possible. Scandals, break-ups, the works. He wasn’t a fan of it, but the students were, and he’d be damned to stop something as popular as that was. While technically he left the whole thing up to the anonymous contributions of others, including the writer, the last thing he was going to do was let his sister show up in the pages again. The bit about him and Lily had garnered a laugh though.
“Evening Miss Slater.” Grey said with a stern look on his face as he approached his sister. “It seems Mr. Windsor has…how should I put it? Disappeared on you?” He glanced around the Great Hall again, immediately locking on to the area where the refreshments were being served. There wasn't a clear view of it from the table they were at, but he assumed Edmund was over there somewhere. “Mind if I join you?” Grey sat down before she could answer though. He figured it was going to be a yes anyways. “Have you seen Claire yet? I’m sure she’d have a few things to say about your dress.” He let out a small laugh. “You look wonderful though. Ed’s a lucky guy.” And not here right now either. Hopefully that wasn’t pushing buttons if something had happened.

After a few moments, Addilyn had turned away to glance around the room, away from Ondina and her brother. She hoped he wouldn't be angry with her, with the things she had said previously. Addi felt terrible after their last conversation, mentioning why Ondina would ever go to a ball with Grey. After the fact, thinking about it, she knew it was a horrible thing to say and she hadn't meant it the way it had been said. Addilyn didn't want to mess anything up with Grey, and she wanted to enjoy this night with him and Edmund and her other friends as much as she possibly could. So when he came over, her eyes widened slightly and she gave him a smile. "Disappeared, I suppose. I don't actually know where hes' gone." She rose a brow and took another quick glance but to no avail, did not see Edmund.
When Grey questioned joining her and just sat down, Addilyn laughed and nodded. Of course he could join her! There wouldn't be a day she'd say no...she thought. As Claire got brought up, Addi looked down at her dress and her jaw dropped open slightly. "I have not seen her, and I hope she'd love my dress! Yes it's...slightly revealing, but I love it." She stuck her tongue out, knowing that Grey was being subtle about his own feelings on it as well. She smiled and a small blush rose to her cheeks at the compliment. "Thank you Grey, you look great as well. How's....Ondina?"

@jill2 Seemed like neither of them knew where Edmund was. From what Grey understood, he had two sisters in school still as well. He probably just bumped into one of them and got caught up in talking. It was somewhat hard to escape people in this giant throng of students and ministry workers. The extra amount of adults definitely made it look way more populated than the Great Hall normally was. As far as he could tell, they probably used a charm to extend the room. That was possible right? And Claire was gone as well, or at least nowhere to be seen. She was probably taking her job too seriously. Grey smiled as Addi stuck her tongue out at him though, and said he looked good as well. He had to after all. Playing the part of a love-struck lion was quite difficult when he didn’t have a smidge of acting experience.
The smile soon turned into a smirk though as Addi asked about how Ondina was. Did she not know yet? Grey was positive that Finn knew, and Irina definitely did as well. If they had never gotten back to Addi to tell her what was wrong with him, then this was the best time to break the news. “Well,” he started, arching his neck up a little to see if he could spot the blonde Weasley girl anywhere on the dance floor. “I’m sure she’s already found a new toy.” He grinned. “I’ve learned that the best way to break the ice queen is to pretend that you’ve been under the effects of her love potion for the past month.” Grey trailed off to a whisper at the end, trying to keep the bit about being love-potioned between the two of them. “Of course she won’t show that she’s pissed beyond belief, but you can bet this is the best I’ve ever felt. Watching her gears turn when I told her was pure gold. Oscar worthy actually.”

Addilyn sat quietly sipping her water as Grey began to speak. He seemed quite amused with himself, so Addilyn was worried. Was he going to admit he was crazy, or admit that they truly were in love? Her eyes widened and she bit her lip, but a long sigh was released when he finished speaking. Grey's words finally ended in a whisper, and Addilyn felt a rush of relief. Finally! She had her brother back. "Oh thank goodness! You were going loony, Grey, honestly." Addilyn giggled quietly as her eyes looked for Ondina.
"Let's hope she keeps her anger to herself, I don't want to hear any of it later tonight." Addi smirked at her brother. She was kidding of course; she'd probably enjoy the anger and annoyance from Ondina that her brother caused, but she just didn't want any of the backlash. Not that she assumed Ondina would do that, but who knows? "So, you're not in love with Ondina, good. Are you in love with anyone?" Addi wiggled her eyebrows at him playfully, laughing.

@jill2 From the reaction Addi had, he could tell she wasn’t aware of the love potion yet. Obviously she had known something was wrong, considering that their conversation on the topic of Ondina a month ago had been enough to show that. “Loony is one way to put it.” He laughed a little bit. “Sorry about all that though. I hate that I remember all of it, because I know exactly how stupid I looked. She needs to learn how to use a lower dosage next time. I don’t think it lasted as long as she had hoped.” Irina had made that observation. It had been pretty clear to Finn and Addi that something was wrong with him, signs of a high dosage, or constant drugging. If Ondina had been smart about it, she would have kept a nice, low buzz going on him. Nobody would have ever figured out. Grey had to give it to her though, he was a prime target. Luckily there happened to be just enough people that cared about him to get him patched up.
“Neither do I.” Grey stated, motioning towards the dance floor so Addi could follow along. Ondina had found her way to Daryl. But of course she had. That was probably the plan all along anyways. “Noise cancelling charms work around beds right? I might be sleeping in the common room tonight with the rest of seventh year.” He rolled eyes, deciding that he didn’t even want to think of that. If anything, Ranger would kick them out. Make himself useful for once. Grey shook his head to indicate he wasn’t having ‘feelings’ for Ondina anymore. Still, he had a hard time taking his eyes off her. There were still so many questions about why she did all of this. For fun? Revenge? A mix of both? He needed to let it go. It was done and over with. “Hmmm maybe.” He grinned, looking back at her. “After this last one though, I think I need a break. I know it wasn’t real, but it sure as hell felt like it.”

Addilyn sighed, a smile gracing her lips. At least Grey had a good attitude about it. He remembered it all, as he said, and so did she. How embarrassing! She was just glad no one else was around to hear. "Did you confess your love to anyone besides me and Finn?" Addi giggled, imagining how the school would react if they knew Grey Slater had been in fake love with Ondina Weasley of all people. "No, it probably didn't. But let's hope she doesn't find out it's because I tattled." Addilyn smiled at her older brother.
Her gaze followed to where Grey gestured, and she saw Ondina with Daryl Thomas, a housemate of her brother's. Which, as he spoke again, Addilyn's eyes widened. "Ugh! Grey I think they do! Goodness, I don't want to hear about that. But those two?" She rose an eyebrow. She knew Daryl slept around, but Ondina...she kind of doubted that. "Well I bet you're happy from our last conversation that I will not be going after Daryl." She giggled. Though, her jaw dropped as Grey answered her question. Maybe?! What?! "Who? Please tell me this is a decent person this time, Grey. Don't tell me it's someone like Lucy Weasley." Addilyn was kidding of course, but there was still a slight worry.

@jill2 “Don’t try and trick me. I did no such thing. Come on, confessing my love to you and Finn? We both know it would have only been Finn and in private.” Grey could tell Addi was joking, but it was fun to play up on that all the time. He nodded his head a few times as she agreed that the love potion probably didn’t last as long as Ondina had wanted it too. He didn’t want to think about what her true intentions were with it. On one hand it was just a prank, the other, it was a tool to turn him against his siblings again. She was a nasty little girl, so it was most likely going to be the latter. “If she does go after you again, just kick up dust or something. Poor thing has severe asthma problems.” Grey looked around a little to make sure Ondina wasn’t lurking near him. “And then call me over so I can laugh for a few minutes. Call me cruel Addi, but she deserves whatever comes to her.” Unfortunately trying to get back at her would be hard to do. Ondina was quite the actress. She probably didn’t need to pretend as much as she did around him while he was love-potioned. The overcompensation there was what ended up tipping Addi and Finn off in the first place.
He laughed a little at Addi’s reaction to Daryl and Ondina. In a way, it made sense. Then again, maybe he was just another one of her victims. One couldn’t tell when dealing with the queen of snakes. “I don’t think it really matters who it is to her. Everything is a game.” He leaned back, resting one arm on the table. “As for Daryl, well let’s just say I believe he’s fine with anything that breathes. I do feel bad for his club members though…” He glanced over at Addi as she said she wouldn’t be going after Daryl. He could have told her that. Actually, he was pretty sure he had. “Thank you. Because there would be another tower blown up if that happened.”
She actually thought there was someone else that he was interested in? Now that he thought about it, the way he had responded did make it seem that way. Was there? Potentially. Maybe. A long shot at most. Not right then, but most likely later at some point. There were too many ‘what if’ scenarios in that line of thinking. And as he had followed up with, he wasn’t exactly looking at jumping into something else straight away. Obviously if it happened it happened, but there were too many other factors at play. Things that may or may not be possible at this point in time. “No, not Lucy Weasley. To be honest, I don’t even know.”

Grey's comments towards Ondina made Addilyn's mouth drop open, and she began laughing. She definitely had never heard him talk in such a way! And, she also hadn't known that Ondina had asthma. She was curious as to why Grey knew that, and her eyebrows scrunched together, but she shook her head. "You are kind of cruel in that sense, she might need to be sent to the hospital wing!" Addilyn took a sip of her water. "But I promise to let you know if that ever happens to occur."
"A game? You don't think maybe she likes him?" Maybe Addi paid too much attention to the gossip articles in the school paper, but as of the last one, it stated that Daryl and Ondina were hanging out a lot more than normal. He spoke about Daryl and Addilyn smiled. "Well I hope he's nice to you in your dorms, Grey. He's fairly nice to me, though I've only spoken to him a few times here and there." As Grey mentioned another tower blowing up, Addi gave him a look that said 'really'? She knew Grey didn't like Daryl, but that was a little bit drastic! "Of course, Grey."
Her eyebrows lowered at her older brother. He doesn't know? Hmm...interesting. "I'm glad it's not Lucy. But, you don't know?" That meant there was someone. But who could it be? Grey must know he has some type of feelings for somebody, but might just be confused about them. She sat back in her chair, eyebrows now raised. "You can talk to me, you know, Grey. Or ask advice. Anything."

@jill2 Grey shrugged as his sister agreed that he was cruel. He really didn’t care if she was sent to the hospital wing or not. The bitch had caused enough trouble for him and his sister, the least she could do was sod off and have a hacking fit from a little dust. “I know you’re wondering, but I asked way too many questions over those few weeks. I probably know Ondina as well as she knows herself. It’s kind of scary, honestly.” Sickening more like it. To a degree, he had practically become her stalker, and she liked it too. “And thanks. Because next time I’m going straight to a professor. I’m done with these petty underhanded schoolgirls. They’re in for a rude awakening once they graduate.” Their deceptions would only get them so far, most likely net a rich husband or two (after they get rid of the first and keep all his money). They might have been smart, but there was only so much before everyone would know who and what they really were.
“Ondina liking someone other than herself? Addi, you know better than that. She’s incapable of human connections that don’t benefit her in some way.” Grey paused to think that over again. “Well, maybe she does like him, but for reasons other than that they ‘love’ each other.” He made sure to add the air quotes to that. “Couldn’t say. I don’t really talk to any of them, and they don’t talk to me.” That made it sound like he didn’t have any friends. He had plenty, between the few members of the newspaper club and then Lily, Finn, and Rai…so maybe he didn’t really have any friends. What was wrong with that? “I try and stay out of the dorms as much as possible. I’d take Daryl over Ranger Lloyd any day though.” The stupid politics of their dorm never ceased to amaze him.
Should he know? That wasn’t really a question he had been closely examining lately. “No, I don’t know.” Maybe that was a little clearer. He didn’t want to sound forceful in that, because he honestly did not know. “Thanks. Someday. You’ll probably know about it before I do though. Even though I was love-potioned for the past month and understand what those kinds of feelings are now, I’d rather just be dense about the whole thing. Much easier I think.” While he understood people on an intellectual basis, similar to how Claire was, he couldn’t understand the emotional side still. Addi was better at that. Too many years at school had been spent conducting interviews and writing about people to the point where a causal conversation about events and going ons was easy for him, but anything past that was almost nonexistent.

Addilyn's eyes widened, and she took a sip of her water, twisting her head and looking around the room with her eyebrows up. She was smiling widely behind the glass of water, trying to hide her amusement from her brother. She did feel bad about everything that had happened, but when she looked back at it, it was very funny and she didn't want her brother getting angry with her. "Well, if it does happen again, I promise to trick you into a Professor's classroom. Because I don't think you'd do it on your own, not under a potion like that."
She put her glass down and crossed her legs, putting her elbows on the table in front of them. They had thankfully gotten a table a bit further from the DJ, making it easier to speak to each other without yelling. "I like Daryl. He's sweet. But don't worry, I wouldn't ever think of him in such a way. He's...been with way too many people." Addilyn giggled. "Well, if I do know before you do, I promise I won't say anything. It's a great feeling, realizing on your own. Unless you're worried about the other person, then I can totally help." She laughed.
"So, are you going to dance with your baby sister? Or are you going to find a special lady to dance with?" She sat up, tilting her head, smiling widely. She didn't mind either way, Edmund might be looking for her, but if Grey wanted a dance then Edmund would appreciate that as well.

@jill2 A small smile formed on his face as Addi said she might have to trick him into a professor’s classroom, should he be under a potion again. He had meant in general though; if Ondina, or any of her group for that matter, decided to mess with them again. But if he was love-potioned again (which wasn’t going to happen if his life depended on it), then he probably would need a little help there. It had only taken the combine efforts of three people to get him into the potions classroom for Irina to make the cure, albeit it wasn’t too hard to get him there in the first place. One tiny hint or mention that Ondina was going to be there too and he had jumped on the offer immediately. It wasn’t too hard to get someone under the effects of a love potion, and to tell them what to do was even easier. Scary that all of these were available at a joke shop run by a family member of half the students in Hogwarts. “That’s why I carry a flask of antidote around with me now. I think she got me a few more times, but I take a little sip after each meal just to make sure.” He was safe here, since most of the food looked like it was probably charmed to prevent acts of idiocy. “But that’s going to be the rest of my life once I go into training for the aurors.”Daryl sweet? She was right about him being with too many people. Grey had seen them here and there, usually Daryl kept them out of the common room. Probably because of his aunt being head of house. At least he had some moral decency and did what he needed to do elsewhere. There were plenty of hidden spots around the school. “Thank you. If males could have veela charm, he would be one of them.” He wouldn’t doubt if half of Beauxbatons was like that as well. French people were far too attractive for their own good. Just had to get past some of their egos first. Grey rolled his eyes jokingly as she said she wouldn’t help him if he couldn’t figure it out on his own. “You make it sound like it’s already happening, and I don’t realize it.”Grey stood up as Addi asked if he wanted to dance. He had only done one song so far, being the first of the night where he had broken the news to Ondina. “Well I don’t see Rai anywhere…or Finn for that matter, so I guess you’ll have to do.” He grinned, offering her his hand. [The End]
