Dear Mum,
I wish you were here right now. So I could talk to you. I have never been so... confused and angry and sad overwhelmed like this all at once. I could also maybe use a hug.
My Head Girl duties have been alright. I think they would probably be a bit more difficult if it weren't for all the Aurors stationed around the school. I think a lot of people are afraid of stepping out of line because of them, you know. But, I stick can catch a few trouble makers here and there (like Lou and Isaac!) Classes also haven't been terrible. What with the tournament and all. Which is a little disappointing, but I suppose considering all that's gone on, everyone could use a little break.
I need your advice Mum I really need help I'm owling you today to ask you what I should do abo if you and Dad have plans for Christmas? I think I may want to come home for break.
Love, Rose @hermionejean

dearest rosie,
What's wrong my love? It frightens me to see you talk like this; what's going on? I'm glad that your Head Girl duties are not as stressful due to the presence of the Aurors; a very small part of our mission was the ensure that this school year would be different from the past. It doesn't surprise me that Louis and Zac are up to their usual mischief; at least we can count on them to never change, right?
As part of the Ministry I'll be at the Yule Ball actually, your father too of course. If you'd like, I can talk with Neville and see if you can come home with us from the Ball for the rest of break? Would that work for you? We can talk then – I imagine it's easier to talk face to face with whatever is troubling you.
I love you, if there's anything you need me to send you please let me know. You'll find some of your favorite candies enclosed with this letter; I hope it helps at least a little bit.

Dear Mum,
Oh. I completely forgot about the Ball. Well, I look forward to seeing you and Dad there! It will be nice to see you both, especially after all of this... stress. (But the candies certainly helped relieve a little bit of that! Thank you!)
So, do you remember our talk? In New Zealand? About a boy? I've been having... a lot of problems on that front. And I don't really have anyone else that knows about us to talk to about it.
Love, Rose @hermionejean

Rosie,
I’m glad that the candy helped - sometimes you just need something sweet to take the edge off of the stresses in life a little. I’m also happy to give you tips on stress management; enclosed you’ll find a day planner. I’d die if I did not have mine on me at all times, so I hope it helps you too! I used to use one my fifth year since OWL year was enough to drive anyone mad. It really helped me schedule out time to do my homework around Prefect duties and my other extracurriculars. You’ve inherited my brain it would seem, and sometimes just writing it out will do wonders.
Of course I remember our talk about the boy. What sort of problems? You can always talk to me about it; I know I may seem busy but you and Hugo and your father will always be my number one priority. I can always make an excuse to come speak with Neville and grab you for a few hours. Would you like me to do that?
Love, Mum Rozalina Antonina Nightshade
