PERSONALITY Mina is a special kind of something. Uncontrollable would be one word for it. Maybe even reckless. Even at 21, she has decided that she’d rather act like a wild-child without responsibilities than to grow up. Frequent nights out at muggle and magical clubs alike don’t deter her from getting up in the morning for work, so she’s not a lost cause. Yet. The lure of money from working to support her vices and travel junkie lifestyle is enough to get her up in the morning whether she likes it or not. Pushing things to their limits like work and scheduled events are her adrenaline rush, always walking (wavering, stumbling, sometimes tilting, if she has it her way) on a thin tightrope. She thinks the game of life is fun, especially since she ignores the rules and consequences that are placed to keep people like her out in the first place. To couple with her attitudes towards life, she’s extremely sarcastic, snarky, and sassy, however she sees fit to answer. She’s smart enough not to do this while working, again, valuing the job over anything else, but she’ll go out of her way to let it all out upon the end of the work day, towards both friends and family alike. She doesn’t hate authority figures per se, but would rather combat or talk back if she knows she can get away with it. At the same time though, she absolutely refuses to disrespect her parents or older siblings (sometimes on occasion), since family is everything for her. The one opposition to this is that she will completely push off the lycanthropy if possible since she’s terrified of it. Mina thrives off of being misunderstood, seeing that as her one way ticket to getting what she wants, essentially allowing herself to break the rules. When she’s not busy doing that, she has a rather soft spot for animals, magical and non-magical alike, as well as reading, hence working at Flourish & Blotts. Sparking a conversation with her on either of these topics would elicit a response with less vitriol and sarcasm than most other things would, so there is a way to her sharp, edgy little heart. Upon preparing for the Battle of Hogwarts, alongside her partner Deran, and brother Fenrir, Stella discovered she was pregnant, quickly prompting the two cuddly werewolf love birds to abandon the battle just days before it occurred. They went into hiding, where they were eventually married and gave birth to their first child. The small country house they now called home was perfect for them to change on full moons, so that they could avoid harming anyone in the nearby villages. Following the first, Sarah was born, and not too longer after that, baby number three, Callisto, came along. At this point, dear Uncle Fenrir decided to come knocking while Stella and Deran were out. He huffed and puffed and did his Fenrir thing, and turned the two oldest children into werewolves. Callisto was spared, and off the family moved. Mina was born soon after move, two years younger than her sister. After her came the last of the siblings, completing the Oliveira family unit. Growing up wasn’t bad. She knew her family struggled at times to support all of them, and she was forced to share a room with Callisto. It was ok. It wasn’t like she needed the space at all, and it wasn’t like it was going to get worse once she got her letter to Hogwarts, just like her older three siblings had. Unlike her older siblings, Mina ended up in Slytherin, seeming like a perfect fit to how she had grown up. Always acting out and trying to get away with things here and there, she felt at home with other trouble makers like her. She soon discovered her love for animals and books, both being in abundance at school. They were her only deterrents to stay out of trouble. History of Magic, of all courses, and Care of Magical Creatures ended up being her best subjects, DADA among others, but overall she wasn’t a great student. School was just another establishment to keep her grounded in one place, something she had grown to hate over the years. The yearning to do whatever she wanted was always blocked by the walls of Hogwarts. Upon graduating, Mina sat around idly for a while, unsure of where to go from there. Her interests in animals initially drew her towards magizoology, but she realized that it required more education and studying, and while she enjoyed animals and creatures, they weren’t worth the extra nonsense right then. To make up for that, she left England. Traveling to the western hemisphere, she spent the year and a half after graduation going all over North, South, and Latin America learning their magical cultures and tracking down creatures she thought were interesting. One nasty incident in Louisiana ended up with a rather rough run in with a rapid Rougarou, a dog-headed beast of sorts, resulting in her wand being snapped in half. Unsure of what to do, Mina was able to acquire a new one while in the US, deciding that it would be unwise (a rather rare occurrence for her) to continue her trip with a wand she didn’t know or trust yet. Returning home, Mina immediately called Callisto’s apartment home, not wanting to return back to their parent’s house as a failure to join society. For whatever reason she was hired at Flourish & Blotts as a full-time employee, minding the inventory and for the most part, the sole employee on quiet days. Her reckless, thrill-seeking, partying lifestyle went into full swing once she had money again, and that’s what her life consists of now. The only snag in that being the death of Dakoda, the revelation being that it was most likely Sarah that had committed the act. Now, Callisto has partial custody over Sebastian, Sarah’s son, and Mina’s life has become sort of clockwork: wake up, go to work, go home. Drinking only masks the loss of her brother, and it won’t bring him back at all, no matter how much she has. Aside from that, Mina has had to deal with working throughout the Hag’s Fever incident. People have been ordering books by delivery, which has changed her job from cashier and stock girl, to a pseudo-mail person and caretaker of owls. She was also caught up in the dragon attack at Hogsmeade, though was thankfully spared from any injuries. She had been drinking since sun-up that day, and was practically passed out in the Three Broomsticks when everything started. Luckily she made it back home without a scratch, and just a minor hangover the next morning. OOC
