Waiting around for something to happen was not one of Dom's strong points. She knew that she should be patient and that other people had other things to do- like homework- but hers was done and she needed someone to do something with. Really, it could be anything. If she knew where Lily was she'd probably seek her out for some adventure, but it was a little too late in the day for that. She could go on a walk out on the grounds on her own, but ... actually, that was sounding better and better by the seconds. Walking around alone outside was way better than sitting around alone inside.
She jumped up, intent on leaving the common room when she saw Susan. "Sus!" She exclaimed in excitement as she skipped across the room to her friend, grabbing her arm gently when she reached her. "You're not busy are you? I mean, do you have homework you have to do right now or something?" Dom was internally begging for Susan not to be busy. A talk with her could probably take care of Dom's boredom. And if not ... Dom would convince her to go out of the common room so they could have some fun. That wasn't too hard; Dom was really good at being convincing.

Susan was snuggled down on the couch in front of the fire in the Ravenclaw Common Room. She would say she was doing homework - she did have a long Transfiguration essay due after all - but she was more daydreaming about last weekend and seeing Casey at Saint Mungos. Funny, one wouldn’t think visiting your boyfriend with dragonpox in the hospital was romantic, but after an afternoon of snuggling and kissing, Susan had no doubt how she felt about him. She looked up when she heard someone call out her name and smiled. She and Dominique were in the same year and therefore shared a dormitory, and had for the past six plus years. She’d always liked the Weasley girl; she’d always been quite a bit more outgoing than Susan was, but now that Susan had had real life work experience she’d been able to come out of her shell a bit. “I have homework but I’m not really paying much attention to it,” she added, closing her book with a thud. “What did you have in mind?” she asked, sitting up more on the couch.

Dom was delighted when Susan admitted she wasn't doing her homework yet. "Hooray!" She called, excited as she plopped down on the couch next to her schoolmate. "Well since you're not busy with your homework, I thought we should do something fun!"She scrunched up her face for a moment as she tried to come up with something they could do. "Anything fun sticking out to you? I mean, we could always go outside and start a snowball fight or something. That way we'd only annoy the people outside and they'd probably be happy to join in?" She winked at her friend before shrugging, "Unless you have an idea of something you'd rather do more?" She made the question sound more like a suggestion.

Susan giggled at Dominique’s excitement; clearly Dom had been looking for someone to do something with and she was happy to oblige. “I’m not sure how I feel about a snowball fight, but what about building a snowman? Still playing in the snow but less messy,” she said with a smile. Snowball fights were more Will and Ed’s area of expertise; Susan liked playing in the snow of course but in a more calm manner. Really she’d prefer to sit and read by the fire, watching the snow fall from the sky, but she wasn’t going to disappoint Dominique.
“Wait here,” she told the redhead, and dashed up the stairs to their dormitory. Putting her book down on her neatly made bed, she pulled out her Muggle winter coat, a puffy down filled jacket that went down to her knees, plus her Ravenclaw scarf, mittens and hat for warmth. She slipped on her winter boots and bounded back down the stairs. “I am ready for the outdoors!” she declared with a wide grin.

Dom's mouth fell open in astonishment at her friend's confession that she didn't really want a snowball fight. Who didn't like snowball fights? They were practically the creation of people wanting to have easy fun in any kind of outdoor winter activity! She was about to comment, something along the lines of how that was simply unacceptable when Susan said that she'd be willing to make a snowman. Dom grinned. "A snowman! I would love to do that!" Her smile turned somewhat mischievous, "But that doesn't mean you'll get out of me throwing snow at you. I probably won't be able to help myself." And that was as close to a warning that Susan Windsor was going to get.
When she was told to wait, Dom put on a pouty face but Susan didn't see it before she ran off. Dom rolled her eyes and summoned her coat and gloves. She put them on quickly, bouncing on the balls of her feet and her toes once she was ready to go outside. "Finally!" She exclaimed when Susan came back and declared herself ready.
She pulled Susan toward the common room door, "Let's get out of here!" Dom had spent way too much time indoors today and felt the urgent need to get out. She wove the two of them through the crowds of people in the corridors, exclaiming happily when they got outside. She looked up at the sky and laughed. This was perfect! "You go ahead and start the base for our fabulous snowman-to-be," she suggested with a smile. Dom really just needed some time to appreciate the brisk winter air and the fact that she was finally outside. After a few moments, she turned to Susan to see how she was doing with it.

Susan giggled as Dominique told her she’d still throw snow at her. “I appreciate the warning," she said with a grin. She allowed herself to be pulled out of the Common Room, and she looped her arm through the redheads’ as they made their way down the many staircases and out of castle onto the grounds. It wasn’t bitterly cold outside, but cold enough for the snow not to be melting, which made it perfect for snowman-making. She nodded as Dom instructed her to start building the base for the snowman and got down on the snow covered ground. She began to build the base, making the ball as perfectly round as she could, packing on the snow as it grew larger and larger. Finally, the snowmans’ base was about as high as her waist, round and fat and absolutely perfect.
She turned and saw Dominique was distracted. Excellent. She grinned slyly and picked up a bit of snow and packed it into her mitten. She crept a few steps forward, and called out “Hey Dom!” and when her friend turned she tossed the snow at her friend before laughing and rushing back to the snowman base.

After being outside for a few minutes, Dom was finally starting to calm down. Not that she wasn't ready to do something exciting, but the anxiety from being inside too long was wearing off. Which was a good thing. No one really knew about that and Dom wasn't in a hurry to confide in anyone about it. After all, going outside at least once a day was a healthy, normal thing. No one should call her out on it. She spun around when Susan called her name and got a face full of snow. Dom's immediate response was a wicked grin. "Just remember you asked for this Susan," she warned before leaping forward and moving to tackle her into the snow. She wasn't really paying attention to the surroundings, so she wasn't sure if the snowman's base was going to make it through this tussel, but she didn't care either. After trying to push Susan backward, Dom started grabbing handfuls of snow and throwing them at Susan, not even bothering to make them into proper snowballs. Dom was going for speed, laughing the entire time.

Susan shrieked and giggled as Dominique tackled her into the snow. "Be careful, snowman base Dom!" she said, her voice slightly muffled from her scarf. She rolled away from the base and gathered up more snow as Dom flung more in her face. "Oh it's on!" she exclaimed, using her hands as trowels to fling snow at her friend. After awhile, Susan was breathless from laughing. "Okay, okay truce!" she struggled to get out, still beaming. She shuffled back over to their abandoned snowman. "Let's continue building this thing," she said with a laugh.
She began to roll the middle section of the snowman, plopping it on top of the base when it was large enough. A smaller snowball made the head and Susan stepped back. "Now we just need to name him..or her of course, and decorate," she said, looking over to Dominique. "What do you think, is our snowperson a girl or a boy?" she asked.

Susan told Dom to be careful of the snowman base, but Dom just shrugged her warning off as she continued to playfully attack her friend in the snow. She knew this wasn't what Susan wanted to do initially, but she'd started it and Dom wasn't about to give in first. That wasn't her way. When Susan finally called for a truce, Dom sat back in the snow and looked over at her friend, who was grinning even though she was covered in snow. "Fine, I'll give you truce. For now," she said. Sure, Dom had her fill of throwing snow at the moment, but it probably wouldn't last long. So she'd be the one to take Susan by surprise later.
She jumped up, moving over to the base of the snowman when Susan told her that they should continue working on it. It didn't take long for the two of them to make the rest of the snowball, since the base was already finished. When Susan mentioned that they needed to decorate the snowman, Dom started summoning things. Two coals from the castle, a carrot from the kitchens, one of her own scarves and hats, a few sticks from the forest. "It's a girl, of course!" She said, catching the items smoothly as they arrived one at a time and tossing them into the nearby snow. "Is there anything else you think we need?" Dom asked once all the items had arrived. She started picking them up and putting them in their appropriate places on the snowgirl, gesturing for Susan to help her do so. "What should we name her?"

Susan smiled gratefully as Dominique agreed to a truce; she felt rather out of breath already from playing in the snow. Susan was not the most active person ever; she enjoyed archery of course as well as horseback riding. But running around flinging snow at another person for hours on end was not her idea of a splendid old time. Still, she liked Dom a lot and was willing to suffer along for awhile. Thankfully they got back to building the snowman, or snow woman as they decided she was a girl.
"Well if she is a girl then we need some hair for her," Susan said, trampling over to the lake. She performed a summoning spell and several weeds of green seaweed shot out of the water. Susan could have sworn she saw a grindylow make a face at her before splashing back into the depths. Carefully, she dried out the seaweed and hung it over the sides of the snowgirls' face. "There, now she has hair!" she exclaimed with a small giggle. They continued to decorate their snowgirl and Susan stepped back a few steps to contemplate a name for it. "What about...Rowena? Like the esteemed founder of our house?" she suggested.

Dom cocked her head to the side curiously when Susan went over to the lake. What was she playing at? She wanted to get hair for their snowgirl from the lake? Ahh. Dom chuckled when she saw the seaweed. So that was the plan. Oooh their snowgirl was about to be the most unique one in existence and Dominique loved it. She followed her friend's example and stepped back from the snowgirl, looking at it carefully. She giggled, "Do you think the Grey Lady will get offended if she finds out?" she asked curiously.
Then she shrugged, looking over at Susan. "I feel guilty leaving Rowena out here all on her own ..." she trailed off, hoping that Susan would get her implication without her saying it outright. Honestly, she just wasn't ready to go inside yet. Dom wanted to have some more fun outside and they hadn't been out too long yet. Surely they had time for at least one more snowman. She smiled at Susan hopefully.

Susan frowned, not at Dominique herself but at the comment she made. The Grey Lady was the ghost of Ravenclaw Tower, and it was known to them that she had been Helena Ravenclaw, Rowena's daughter in life. She'd read about it of course; her story hadn't been added into a History of Magic until the early 2000s because she'd kept it to herself for centuries. Now the story of the Baron killing Helena out of rage was imprinted in page and ink for all to read, as was that she stole her mothers' diadem to make herself more clever than Rowena Ravenclaw. "You do have a point, the Grey Lady is quite...proud," Susan said, choosing her words carefully. Proud was one way of putting it; easily offended was another. When speaking with her, Susan always had to mentally check herself before speaking so as not to offend her else she'd fly right though Susan, which was cold and just plain strange.
"So then we simply must make Helena as well," Susan decided, looking over at Dom with a smile. Clearly Dominique wasn't ready to go in, and as the sun was still shining and it wasn't too cold out, Susan didn't mind staying outside either. So she gestured towards her friend and began to make the base. "I'd say let's make her smaller but I don't think the Grey Lady would like that either," she said with a giggle. As they rolled the base, Susan had another though. "Should we give them both pretend diadems? So that they both have enhanced wisdom?" she asked.

Susan seemed a bit concerned by the idea of the Grey lady not liking them naming their snowgirl after her mother. Dom couldn't help but giggle at the look on her friend's face. "Don't worry Susan. We're not going to make an announcement to the school about her name. Just you and I are going to know. She won't find out." Probably. Granted, if any of the ghosts heard this conversation, they would probably tell her, but Dom wasn't concerned. If it became a problem, she'd deal with it then.
Dom clapped her hands together and jumped up and down when Susan suggested they make Helena. That wasn't exactly what she'd been thinking, but it was perfect. "I love it! Let's start!" This time Dom helped Susan with the beginning, working with her to make the base. She shrugged. "We can do whatever we want. We don't have to tell the Grey Lady which one is her ... especially since we won't be telling her about this at all." Dom focused on rolling the base for a bit, not even thinking of things to say until Susan asked her next question. Dom's mouth dropped open in delighted shock. "That is genius! Yes, we simply cannot have Helena and Rowena Ravenclaw snowgirls without their diadems! That would just be cruel." Her eyes twinkled as she tried to think what they should make the diadems out of. "Would stick diadems be respectful enough do you think?" she asked thoughtfully, pausing since they'd finally gotten the base to the right size.

Susan laughed at Dominique's comment. "But if she does, now we can say we made both her and her mother," she declared, patting the new snowmans base firmly. They placed the middle and the head on the second snow-woman, and Susan summoned more kelp hair for her. She looked over at Dominiques twigs and smiled. "Yes, but I want to try something first. I found this charm in a book and hopefully I can get this right," she told her, pulling out her wand. She murmured a few words and the snow began to swirl around the twigs. She had to try twice more before the two diadems solidified, but when they did they looked like perfect ice tiaras with a stick base. They glitted in the sunlight as Susan handed one to Dominique. "Which one do you want to crown?" she asked with a smile.

Dom giggled, pleased that Susan was being sarcastic with her. "Yes, because saying we made both of them will make her even happier." She watched with interest when Susan pulled out her wand and added ice to the sticks, shaping them like tiaras. Dom nodded, pleased that her friend thought of that. It was a cool addition. "Rowena, of course! I don't want to have to admit to the Grey Lady that I crowned her. I just crowned her mother," Dom told her friend, reaching up to quickly put her tiara on top of the snowgirl. Then, without missing a beat, she bent down and made a quick snowball, throwing it at Susan and hoping that she was still busy putting her own tiara on Helena.
