Dustin sighed dramatically, rolling his eyes. “Just because you’re not exactly like a character doesn’t mean that the lessons they learn can’t apply to you.” He argued back. “I’m not a little girl who goes walking alone through the woods, but Little Red Riding Hood still taught me something.” Granted, that lesson had kind of blurred over the years, so Dustin wasn’t sure what exactly the fable had taught him, but he assumed this movie was the same way. “You must think I’m a better person than I am, Ev, because I’m honestly not sure I’d be able to give up everything to help people.” He’d give up an awful lot, but everything? If he was asked to choose between never being able to fly again and helping someone, especially someone he didn’t know, Dustin didn’t know what he’d choose. That was a little terrifying, if he was honest.
“What, you want to eat this?” Dustin asked, wrinkling his nose. All that was left was the unpopped kernels, and those definitely weren’t edible, at least not without breaking a few teeth. Dustin needed all of his teeth if he was going to be expected to smile in all of his Quidditch photos! Dustin accepted that Ev was done scolding him and actually did what she asked, returning his face to the movie. And how did she repay him for his obedience? She shoved popcorn kernels down his shirt! Dustin hadn’t been expecting that, but even if he had been, he would have made the same half-yelp, half-screeching noise that he made in that moment. The kernels were still uncomfortable warm and he could feel the oil rolling down his skin and making him all greasy and gross. Before Evelyn could think to defend herself, Dustin grabbed the bucket that the popcorn had been in and flipped it upside down, plopping it down on Evelyn’s head and cackling when it dropped down to cover her face, effectively keeping her from seeing the movie she had been oh-so-distracted from. That would teach her to shove kernels down his shirt.

Ev shrugged when Dustin told her that she could still learn something from a character that wasn't anything like her, but his example was hilarious. Little Red Riding Hood? Evelyn couldn't help but giggle. "What did you learn from Little Red Riding Hood?" She asked, unable to help herself. He would probably say something about not talking to strangers or be obedient or something like that, but Ev was going to call him out on it anyway. She shook her head when he said he wasn't a very good person. "I didn't say you had to give up everything, silly," she said with a small roll of her eyes. "I just think you're better at helping people than I am. All I really have is my parents and you." And Rocco, but Dustin didn't know about that and Ev wasn't about to bring it up.
Of course, Dustin would go the teasing route, but that wasn't new to Ev. She shook her head vigorously, "No, I don't. My point was that you shouldn't throw them," she explained, positive that he already knew that. Still ... his reaction to the kernels down his shirt was priceless! He kind of squealed a little bit and squirmed and Evelyn couldn't keep herself from laughing in response. Then, the next thing she knew, he plopped the bucket on her head. "Ewww!" Ev squealed as she squirmed and grabbed the bucket off her head, throwing it across the theater. Oops. She turned to Dustin, slapping his shoulder. "I can't believe you did that!" She accused, glaring at him.
"Excuse me, ma'am, sir? We need you to vacate the premisis for disturbance." Ev froze and turned around when she heard an official voice coming from behind her. She nodded, "Of course," she said, standing up and moving to the aisle quickly. She didn't want to make a scene and she was somewhat embarrassed that she was being kicked out, but at the same time it wasn't surprising. She and Dustin could be quite disruptive. At least she had the movie at her apartment. She turned to Dustin once they were out in the street. "Look at what you did!" She accused, fully aware that she was just as much to blame for it as he was.

Of course Evelyn had to ask what exactly he learned from Little Red Riding Hood. He couldn’t remember! But Evelyn didn’t have to know that. “You’re missing the point.” Dustin told Ev, jabbing his finger at the air with zeal. “The point is that morals aren’t meant to be taken super literally.” He said, flopping back into his seat with a loud, drawn-out sigh. He mumbled jibberish under his breath when Evelyn said that he didn’t have to give up everything, slightly discontented by it all. But he had been the one to say that not everything should be taken literally, so it wasn’t like he could say anything about it being an unfair assessment.
Dustin let out a loud laugh at Evelyn’s response to him putting the popcorn bucket on her head. She had laughed at him, so it was only right that he laughed at her. Of course, now they were going way above the decibel level that was appropriate for any indoor space, let alone an indoor space where people were supposed to be quiet and watching a movie. “You do things your way, I’ll do mine my way.” He told her. She was a Ravenclaw, he was a Gryffindor, and they did things their own way, because that was who they were.
Dustin looked at Ev when some guy carrying an orange glowstick asked them to leave. He was obviously a movie theatre employee, and Evelyn, being Evelyn, said that they would leave immediately. Once they got outside of the movie theatre, Evelyn told him to look at what he did. “I got you to loosen up, that’s what I did!” Dustin responded. “At least I didn’t make your shirt all greasy and gross!” He told her, bumping his shoulder against hers. Granted, he had made her hair all greasy and gross, but it was pretty much the same thing. “Are we going back to your place? Can I shower?” He asked, even more uncomfortable now that he didn’t have the movie to sort of distract him.

Dustin didn't answer her question and Ev grinned. "I am not," she argued, "You just used a bad example and I'm calling you out on it. I know what your point was." Not that it changed her mind. Ev still didn't think she made that big of a difference in the world, but this was not the time to argue it with Dustin.
Evelyn didn't say anything when Dustin said they would both do things their own way, she just glared at him. Putting a popcorn bucket on someone else's hand was not the right way to do anything. A few kernels did not compare!
Evelyn's eyebrows rose when he said he got her to loosen up. "When am I not loose around you, Dustin?" She laughed when he mentioned his shirt, "At least I didn't do it to your hair." Ev waited a few seconds before answering his next questions, considering the options. She knew they hadn't really been paying attention to the movie, but she wanted to finish it now and she did own it. "Sure, let's go back to my place. We could even finish the movie if you want, and yes you can shower. Come on," Ev reached over to grab his hand, figuring that they might as well go now instead of waiting a while.

Dustin snorted when Evelyn asked when she wasn’t loose around him. “I dunno, Ev, but you better be careful. There are colloquial uses of loose that you might not agree with.” He said, giving her a wink. Evelyn was single, and she probably thought Dustin was too, but he had an issue with her thinking that they had any chance together romantically, and since ‘loose’ could be used as a euphemism for sexual promiscuity, Dustin didn’t want her thinking…wait, how stupid was he being? That idea was kinda ridiculous. Dustin took Evelyn’s hand when she offered it, glad that she had agreed to let him shower when they got back to her place. Dustin Apparated the two of them easily, since he had been to Ev’s apartment enough times. When they got there, Dustin made a beeline for the shower, hoping that Evelyn understood that. She would understand, and the very least, when she heard him turn the shower on. Dustin washed his back quickly, and then, just for the hell of it, washed his hair with Evelyn’s shampoo. It smelled really good, and girl shampoo always ended up making his hair look better. When Dustin exited the shower, he realized that his old clothes were still greasy, so he returned to Ev’s living room with just a towel slung around his hips, grinning at her around his damp curls. “You said we’re finishing the movie?” He asked, sitting on the couch to face the television.

Ev glared at Dustin, "You know exactly what I meant by that and so do I and it had nothing to do with that." She rolled her eyes when he winked, not surprised at all by his teasing but really she didn't mean it that way. And she hoped he didn't think she did. First off, she wasn't that type of a girl. Furthermore, she was dating Rocco. Secretly, but she was still dating him, which Dustin still didn't know about. A part of her felt bad about that. He apparated them to her apartment and made his way to the shower and Ev decided to make some popcorn. Hopefully Dustin would be done putting it in her hair, but whatever. She got the movie ready too and sat down to wait for him almost at the same time when he came into the room. Ev laughed, shaking her head to try and hide the slight blush. She hadn't expected Dustin to come out in just a towel. "That was the plan. Umm ... do you need to wash your clothes?" She asked as she stood up. She moved her hand to run her fingers through her hair and cringed at how nasty it was. "Actually, it's my turn now. I'll be right back." She waved at Dustin as she walked away. "Feel free to start the movie if you want." Leaning over the edge of the tub, Ev washed her hair quickly and then brushed through it before going back outside. At least now if she got restless she could play with her hair without it being completely disgusting. "So, you miss me?" She asked as she walked back out and sat beside him on the couch, turning her attention to the screen.

Evelyn blushed when he exited the bathroom, and Dustin winked at her when she asked him if his clothes needed washing. “I could wash my clothes.” Dustin said, eyes glinting mischievously. “Or I could make the neighbors talk by walking out of your apartment dressed like this.” He teased. He wasn’t sure what exactly Ev’s neighbors thought of her, but a half-naked boy about her age leaving her apartment dressed in nothing more than a towel was sure to create some sort of gossip. Even the non-gossipy types couldn’t help talk about that sort of thing. Evelyn said that it was her turn to shower, and Dustin waved his hand in a ‘go ahead’ motion. “I’ll wait until after you get back to start it.” Dustin said. It seemed unfair for them to start it together and not finish it together. Besides, he was kind of looking forward to seeing Evelyn cry at the ending. And if those two points weren’t enough, the fact that Dustin had no idea what the hell was going on was a cherry on top. He needed Ev to give him the play-by-play when his attention span eventually got the better of him. Evelyn also didn’t take much time in the shower, and Dustin beamed at her when she returned. He was still dressed in the towel, so when he leaned on her, it was his naked shoulder against her clothed one. “I always miss you.” Dustin said, looking up at her with pitiful puppy dog eyes. “Okay, start the movie now!” He prodded her now that they were both settled comfortably. Evelyn had made popcorn while he was in the shower, but Dustin was determined not to let him distract himself from the ending with the treat.

Dustin started ribbing her about making the neighbors talk about them and Evelyn laughed. "You know where the washer is. If you want clean clothes, you take care of it," she said, confident that he didn't really want to cause all that gossip. He was just a big tease, something Ev was fully aware of. She didn't hear him say that he would wait for her to start the movie, but when she came out and realized that he waited she was glad he did. She loved this movie and even though she'd missed quite a bit in the theater, that didn't stop her from wanting to see the majority of the movie. She rolled her eyes at him and pushed his shoulder as she laughed. "Sure you do," she said sarcastically, proud of her response. She grabbed the remote and hit play before turning to Dustin curiously. "Do you want it from the beginning or from where we were?" She was pretty sure he would want it in the middle, but better safe than sorry and she didn't want to confuse him any more than necessary. She grabbed a little bit of the popcorn and ate it quietly, entirely focused on the screen in front of her. Oh, she loved this movie.

Dustin did indeed know where the washer was. He wasn’t particularly uncomfortable in just a towel, but since Evelyn didn’t seem to want to cause a stir, he’d put his clothes in. It would probably mean that he’d only have them clean by the end of the movie, but Dustin thought that was all Evelyn probably wanted. Dustin held the towel onto him while he went off to the wash room so that he could throw his clothes into the washing machine. He returned back to the couch where Evelyn was sitting. She asked him about where he wanted the movie from, and Dustin shrugged. “I don’t really know what’s going on no matter where we start, but I guess the middle.” That way he wouldn’t have to be confused by the same thing two times. “I’m not touching that popcorn, by the way.” He told Evelyn, just in case she was worried about him getting into some kind of monkey business.

Evelyn nodded when Dustin suggested they start in the middle. She started the movie, then made herself comfortable on the couch by pulling her feel up underneath her and sitting cross-legged. She laughed when he said he wasn't touching the popcorn and then put it in her lap so she could access it easily. She wasn't worried about them having another popcorn fight. Doing the same thing twice didn't really seem like Dustin's style, after all. "Why not? Is my popcorn not good enough for you?" she teased, though her eyes were trained on the video. She was trying to figure out where it started so she could explain it to Dustin. When she realized what was happening, she slapped his arm lightly to get his attention. "Oooh! This part is important. The main guy's uncle is supposed to deposit a bunch of money into the bank from their business, but he loses it accidentally. Look," she was more telling herself to look than she was telling him, but it was fine.

Dustin smirked when Evelyn asked if her popcorn wasn’t good enough for him. “Well, first things first – it’s not neon yellow, so it’s not worth consuming.” He said with a chuckle. When Dustin said he loved fake butter, he meant that he loved fake butter. Like, a lot. “And I also don’t want to have to take another shower.” And Dustin knew that if he started another food fight, he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from going full out, especially since they were no longer in a public place. Like he said, one shower per day was more than enough for him. Evelyn tapped him on the arm to get his attention, saying something about the plot of the movie, and Dustin blinked at her. “If you think I’m actually watching this still, you’re funny.” The movie was little more than background noise for their conversation to Dustin at this point. He would finish watching it, though, for Ev’s sake.

Evelyn rolled her eyes. "It doesn't have to be bright yellow to be delicious," she argued. Ev knew it was pointless. Dustin liked to have a ton of butter on his popcorn- she learned that at the theater- but she still liked to argue with him just for the sake of it. She laughed when he expressed how he didn't want to have to take a shower again. "So you can't eat popcorn without things ending up in a food fight. Interesting," she teased with a small shake of her head. She laughed when he said he wasn't watching the movie. Well fine then, she might as well give in, though she'd be keeping an eye on it. She loved it too much to completely ignore it. "Alright then, what do you want to talk about, Dustin? Since you're not watching the movie," She asked in a joking tone.

Dustin shook his head when Evelyn claimed that popcorn didn’t have to be bright yellow to be delicious. “Your taste buds can have their own opinions, but my taste buds only like artificial butter.” And there was a certain allure to the fact that he probably wasn’t supposed to be eating such processed crap, too, not that he was going to tell Evelyn that. She already thought he was crazy enough before Dustin saying that he wanted things – or people – specifically because he couldn’t have them. “I can’t eat popcorn with you without things ending in a food fight.” Dustin corrected. “Feel special, because you are.” Dustin still couldn’t quite shake what Evelyn said about how if she disappeared, not that many people would be affected. Evelyn asked what he wanted to talk about, and Dustin paused a beat, hoping that Ev would understand he wasn’t joking anymore. “Am I a good person?”

Evelyn laughed when Dustin talked about butter. Why he liked having so much on his popcorn was beyond her, but she didn't really care. She liked to do enough things that were crazy that she couldn't judge him for his own things, even if they were as silly as eating lots of artificial butter. "Just with me? Meaning you don't feel the need to attack other people whenever you eat popcorn?" She demanded in a mock-serious tone, sure he'd see through it. "What did I do to deserve that?" Be his best friend, probably. And the fact that she actually fought back with the popcorn showed how much further she'd let Dustin in than anyone else. He was like a brother to her. She rolled her eyes when he said she was special, deciding not to comment about that. Then he asked if he was a good person and Ev froze for a second. She turned to face Dustin, sensing how serious he was about this. Her eyebrows furrowed as she looked at him closely. "Of course you are, Dustin. Why wouldn't you be?" She could come up with a list of reasons to prove her point, but she wasn't sure that's what he wanted.

Dustin rolled his eyes when Evelyn attempted to be fake serious about his popcorn eating and food fighting habits. “Of course only with you.” He told her. “You know, you’re the only person who would let me throw food at you and not rip me apart.” Anyone else he was either not close enough with or had a particularly violent streak (or rather, capability to be violent), so Dustin didn’t want to chance pissing them off. Dustin just shrugged when Evelyn asked what she had done to deserve that. She knew what she had done, and he didn’t need to tell her again that she was his best friend. “I dunno, Ev.” He responded, looking away from Evelyn when she asked why he wouldn’t be a good person. “I just wonder, sometimes.” Dustin shrugged again. He didn’t know to explain why it was such a big deal to him that he was a good person, whatever that meant. He just knew that he thought about it a lot, probably more than he should have.
