Walking around the Hogwarts grounds with Anna had become a part of Oscar's daily ritual. It was a nice way to decompress after a long day of classes while also getting to learn more about the school and spend more time with Anna. It was a little harder to convince him to leave now that there was constantly snow on the ground, but Oscar had bundled up as best as he could and was now walking through what could only be described as a winter wonderland. It was still snowing softly, but it had been much worse earlier in the day, so there was now over a foot of thick powder over the entire Hogwarts campus. Oscar was trying his best not to step into the deepest drifts, but it was more work than it was worth, in the end, so he was knee-deep in snow for the majority of his walk, clinging to Anna's hand so she wouldn't accidentally get stuck in the snow, either. When they were a fair bit from the castle, an idea popped into Oscar's head. Without preamble, he stooped down and grabbed a handful of snow and flung it right in Anna's face.

It was about Anna's favorite part of her day, walking around with Oscar. She didn't care that it was cold outside and that the snow was hard to walk through. Spending time with Oscar, even silent time, was worth it. She knew he wasn't particularly fond of the cold but loved the fact that he would go out walking with her anyway. They walked through the snow hand in hand, which was probably a good thing because it kept them from getting stuck. When Oscar stopped beside her, Anna turned to look at him just in time to get a huge chunk of snow thrown at her face. She laughed incredulously. "Oh so now you want to play in the snow," she teased as she moved a little away from him, making her own snowballs as she went and tossing them at him in return. "Just remember, you started this," Anna called over to him as she ducked behind a snowbank. Being a Weasley she had quite a bit of experience with snowball fights and while she didn't want to obliterate Oscar, she did want to have fun. So she wasn't going to go too easy on him. She started making a few snowballs and placing them next to her, just in case.

Oscar smirked at Anna. “I never said I did not want to play in the snow!” He insisted. He had said that he didn’t like winter at some point, and also that he didn’t like the cold, but nowhere in that had he ever said that he was going to object to one of the actually good parts of wintertime. Anna was very good at making snowballs quickly, that was for sure, but fortunately for Oscar, he was very good at dodging snowballs. It wasn’t a skill that he had known himself to possess until that moment, but it was a good a time as any to discover said skill, because Oscar wasn’t a fan of being pelted with snow. He much preferred throwing it. The problem for him was that the snow didn’t seem to want to form any balls – it just fell apart as soon as he tried to press it into shape. When Oscar attempted to throw another snowball at Anna, it just fell apart before it could reach her. Now that she was behind a snowbank and not right next to him, Oscar was in trouble.

Anna gave Oscar a fake glare, "But you said you didn't like winter and being cold! If I would've known I could convince you to play with me in the snow I would've tried ages ago," she explained. Even so, she was more excited than annoyed. She liked playing in the snow! At the end of this she would probably try to convince him to make snow angels with her, but until then she was just going to enjoy her chance to throw snow at his face. Once Anna had a decent amount of snowballs beside her, she looked over the edge of the snowbank. She smiled at the sight of him and started throwing multiple snowballs in rapid succession. She really only wanted to take him by surprise before he decided to hide or something. Snowball fights were even more fun when you were teaming up on someone else. Still, Anna enjoyed everything she did with Oscar. "Did I get you?" She called to him curiously.

Oscar shrugged. It was true that he did not like being cold, but when you fought with snow, it was not as cold as it normally was, since you were warming, and therefore, warm. “Snow is the best part of the winter.” He said with a shrug. Snow hid all of the deadness of the world and made something that was empty look beautiful, if only for a little while. Oscar hated when the snow melted and left behind nothing but a world scrubbed dead and clean. Some people saw it as a clean slate, but all Ozzy saw was an entire year erased in the blink of an eye. Despite his failure at snowball making, Anna was showing now mercy, and pelting him with perfectly-formed snowballs. She must have had some sort of secret, Ozzy thought as several of the balls exploded on various parts of his body. “You got me!” He called back to her, not even bothering to pout about how thoroughly he had already been trounced.

Anna grinned when Oscar said that he liked snow. "Good to know," she commented with a lighthearted shrug. She was going to need to come up with something fun the two of them could do in the snow together some other time. For now, though, she was going to enjoy her time with Oscar. Which included winning this snowball fight. After a few seconds she stopped throwing snowballs and sat behind her mount of snow, waiting to hear something from Oscar. He called back that she got him and Anna laughed. Success! She peeked her head out from behind the snow to see a partly covered-in-snow Oscar. She laughed again and left her hideout and moved over to him. She reached forward to brush some of the snow off of him and smiled. "I might have gotten a little carried away," she admitted, not remorseful at all about it.

Anna won the snowball fight very quickly. It wasn’t even much of a fight, really, more like single-handed annihilation. Anna said that she might have gotten a little carried away, and Oscar snorted at her. She was brushing off the snow, but that didn’t change that Oscar was a little bit humiliated that he hadn’t even gotten one good hit in on her, other than the one that he had gotten unfairly, because Anna hadn’t been expecting it. “Why did the snow not compact for me?” He asked, pouting a little at her. “It would not make spheres!” He added, just in case he hadn’t been clear with his first complaint. “Is it because I am French?” Oscar asked, only teasing a little. “Does your British snow not recognize me?” If any frozen water crystals could tell nationality, Oscar would be impressed, but mostly it was just an excuse for why his snowballs failed so spectacularly.

Anna ignored when Oscar laughed at her for getting carried away, but then he started asking why the snow didn't work for him. "I don't know," she said with a shrug. "Maybe I should teach you how later," Anna winked to show she was teasing him. Then he asked if it was because he was french and Anna laughed. "Yup! That is definitely it. You're French, my snow won't work for you. You might as well give up and come back inside with me. I have a sudden craving for hot chocolate," she told him with a smile, moving to link her arm with him and pull him up to the castle.
