@maria <3 Samuel took the train into Hogsmeade instead of apparating. He had become to realize how beautiful the scenery is on the train ride. The flowing rivers and waterfalls, the bright green fields of grass, the tall mountains with the great animals roaming their land. It was a sight to see, and he would take that train ride over and over again if it meant those pictures would stay the same for days to come. The trains were always filled with people from every background; witches, homeless people, wizards, children, people who you wouldn't want to question. But you get used to it, seeing all different walks of life and deciding who you want to converse with and who you'd rather avoid.
Standing up off his chair and walking to the nearest door, he gave a few of his coins to a man sitting on the bench who looked quite cold, with his ratted clothes. Samuel always believed the best in people, and if he was considered a person who helped others and did good in his life, he knew God would love him and forgive him for his past sins. Samuel smiled to the man, "Buy something warm." His thick and deep Scottish accent rang through the area surrounding the two, and with a small wave, he stepped off of the train. Taking a deep breath, he smiled and moved his hair behind his back. Samuel continued to walk, a few of his dreads falling back into place in front of his shoulders, and took a seat at a small cafe nearby. He hadn't eaten breakfast yet, and decided on a bagel with a coffee. Glancing around, he saw all of the Hogwarts robes. Ah, must be a visiting day...those were some great memories...

@jill7 Yet another Hogsmeade trip had come up, and just in time for the holiday season. Most of the younger students had already gone home for the holiday, thank god, as had a few of the older that weren't interested in attending the Ball. Obviously, Maria was staying. She'd never gone home during the holidays to begin with, why would that change being in a different country? No, she was planning on enjoying the holiday to the fullest. She'd already gotten Elias' christmas present so she didn't really have any plans for this trip. Well, okay, that was a lie. She sort of had one. A boy had asked her if he could get her a coffee. Obviously his attempt to ask her out, but he'd only managed to muster up the small request. Maria should have said no. Would have actually. But she'd been bored at the time, and so she'd stupidedly accepted. Only now was she starting to regret it.
The boy would not shut up. He'd been stuttering out small talk the entire walk to Hogsmeade and it was really, really starting to get on her nerves. Normally she'd just throw some fire and be rid of the kid, but she'd promised Elias she wouldn't. She'd promised to be better about how she acted around people... But this annoying kid was making that very, very difficult. So, when they finally reached Hogsmeade, she ditched him. As in intentionally pretended to get separated in the crowd and just left him trying to figure out where she went. That should have been enough, but the kid was determined, and kept trying to find her. By that point her hands were starting to sting a little from holding back fire.
That was when she spotted the cafe. The way the tables were situated, there was at least one spot she knew you couldn't see from the road. The perfect place to avoid annoying brats. Entering quickly she spotted a man, older then her but still young, with long dreadlocks occupying the table in question. He didn't have any company. "Mind if I sit here for a minute?" She asked, trying to mask her annoyance as she slid into the chair opposite him. She flashed a smile, letting just enough Veela charm slip out to hopefully make him a little more tolerant to her interuption but not enough to totally mess with his head. Only after did she turn her head to look back outside. She could see the kid, looking right and left trying to find her...

@maria <3 His thoughts of his childhood at school were quickly interrupted by a soft voice. Samuel's eyes widened as he looked up to see a girl of small stature immediately sit down in front of him after asking if she could. Her smile was...quite beautiful, but as soon as her teeth disappeared his face scrunched up in confusion. Who was she? She looked incredibly young, so that only made him think she was a student, but why would she sit with him? There were a couple of other empty seats that were not occupied with another person. But then he realized she was looking around him and he turned, trying to find out what she was staring at.
"Are you alright, miss? Do you need help?" It looked like someone was following her, from the look she had on her face. Samuel didn't want to object if she was in trouble, he'd help of course. A girl this young and beautiful couldn't be just left alone, he could already see something bad happening. "Is someone following you?" Samuel still could not spot a single person behind him or near them that looked like she would know, but her actions were worrying, any sane person would realize that.

Of course her behavior raised a red flag. Any decent person would wonder why she took the spot despite their being plenty of free tables. Maria stopped glancing around the man when he asked if she was alright or needed help. She didn't respond immediately, just looked at him with an eyebrow raised then looked him up and down. Help? A sarcastic part of her wanted to say she wouldn't have chosen his table if she was in trouble. Sad as it was, he didn't look like the sort that could do much in a fight. She could be wrong though. But at the same time, she didn't mind. He was extremely handsome. She'd pick looks over protection any day.
Only when he added if someone was following her did she laugh softly. "Technically." She answered, though she knew that wasn't much of an explanation. "Just a boy. I didn't have the heart to tell him I wasn't interested." More like she didn't want to set him on fire and make Elias mad at her.

@maria <3 This girl was very confusing. He wasn't sure exactly what her deal was, but when she looked back at him and looked him up and down Samuel immediately became defensive. What was her issue? He sat up straighter, eyes narrowing. There had to be a story to her sitting here, and it couldn't have meant just him. It SHOULDN'T have meant just him. Samuel decided the girl wasn't in any real danger and took a bite of his bagel, chewing slowly and awaiting her response.
Finally, she laughed. What in the world was wrong with her? But as she spoke, Samuel understood, and shook his head in disappointment at this girl. "So, you lied to him. You do know honesty is the best choice, right? Now the poor kid is going to be looking for you this entire time and have no idea of were you went, and then he'll go back to school and wonder what he did wrong. Not very mature of you." Ugh. Liars.

Oh for crying out loud, she had made the mistake of sitting by a saint. Immediately she could hear the disappointment in his voice, and her eyes narrowed. Who the hell did he think she was? He had no right to judge her. In reality her taking off would probably save the poor kid from injury, because she'd just about set him on fire. She'd already been close to starting a fire before, and that feeling wasn't going away. Her hands started to itch, as they always did when she tried to hold back the fire.
Maria sat up, leaning against the table and meeting his gaze with her own, hands flat against the table. "No I decided that I couldn't stand how annoying he was being and would rather leave then do something that I'd really regret." She snapped. Like set him on fire. She'd regret that... When Elias found out. Because he would. He always knew when she did stupid stunts like that. How, she didn't know. He just did. With a huff, she leaned back again, crossing her legs and her arms.

@maria <3 This girl obviously had a lot of problems, Samuel would normally suggest some type of prayer but he thought she might be a bit too far gone to even consider that. As her hands slammed upon the table, Samuel just rose an eyebrow and took another bite of his bagel, chewing it even slower than before. Something she's regret? Like what, slapping the kid? Samuel didn't find her to be capable of much from the outside, but hey, maybe she was good with her wand.
Once she sat back down and he swallowed his bagel, Samuel took a long sip of his coffee and shrugged. "You wouldn't do something you regret if you had just told him how you feel. It's quite simple, really. No need to throw a fit." Samuel didn't have any sympathy for her, not after knowing she lied to the poor boy. Maybe it was because she was so young, had no idea what it was like to be lied to. If anything, Samuel felt bad for the boy who so obviously wasted his time with her.

Maria scowled, but then took a deep breath. Yeah, well he hadn't been this annoying at first. It wasn't her fault he'd turned into freak after she'd said yes. Turning to look at him again, she glared, and opened her mouth as if to respond, but stopped when the door of the cafe opened. Immediate she groaned as a very high pitched voice spoke. "Oh, there you are Maria!" The boy in question wasn't bad looking, but the way he said her name was enough to make her cringe. It reminded her of nails on a chalkboard. Well, she had said he was annoying...
The boy approached the table, beaming like a child on Christmas. "Is this where you wanted to get coffee? I didn't know this place existed! Let's find a table together! Maria let out a slow breath, trying to stop the building annoyance as she stood up. "People are always on their best behavior at first. You don't see what they're really like until after you've said yes." She whispered as she passed the guy she'd been talking to. The table wasn't too far, but anyone in the cafe would have been able to hear the conversation. The boy was talking so loud. An assortment of random questions, or comments, with little time between each one for a reasonable response. Maria said nothing, just forced herself to smile and sip from the coffee the boy had bought her. Her hands itched like crazy.
Maria had started to tune him out. At least until he said something that couldn't be ignored. "You're the Durmstrang champion's cousin, right? I've seen you with him, you know. You can really see the family resemblance. Someone told me that you're gypsies too, and that you two are together. I mean, I'm not going to judge your customs or anything-" That was what finally set Maria off. That stupid rumor someone had started back at Durmstrang when they found out Maria and Elias were half Romani and also cousins. Maria had learned to tolerate quite a bit while at Hogwarts, for Elias' sake, but that particular rumor could still set her off. Her eyes flashed with rage and Maria slammed the cup onto the table. In that same moment her hands ignited into flames and the table caught on fire...

@maria <3 Samuel rolled his eyes at her anger. It was such an overreaction! Her demeanor changed as a very loud voice rang through the coffee shop, and Samuel's eyebrows rose once more. What a voice that boy had, he must not have gone through puberty yet. How old was this girl?! Maria, was her name. Samuel listened to her last few words as she stood up and walked away to another table with the boy. He hoped she'd be honest with him, and hoped it would end well for the two of them.
Except, as soon as the boy began to speak again, Samuel had a small inkling it wouldn't end well. He spoke of things that sounded completely asinine and disgusting. Who would think such things? Taking a sip of his coffee, Samuel finally looked up at Maria's face. Not even a second later, she slammed her cup down and the table set on fire. "Oh!" Samuel put down his coffee and stood up, jogging over to where they were. "Aqua Eructo!" The table was doused with water, and he looked at the boy. "Leave." Samuel glared at Maria.

Maria hadn't moved, she didn't even flinch as the table burst into flames. Obviously she was the source, no surprise. What was surprising though was the fact that her hands had been against the table when it combusted. Didn't even react as her hands were literally surrounded by flames. Almost as if she couldn't feel the flames. Which.... She couldn't. Not really. She could feel they were warm, obviously, but fire had never burned her. The boy on the other hand had jumped, tripping over his chair and basically making a fool of himself as he fell to the ground in an effort to get away from the fire.
Just like that though, the guy with dreadlocks was hurrying over and putting out the flames. Maria's hands twitched as they were doused, and the itch immediately returned. It'd been such a quick burn, it wasn't enough. Not nearly enough. The boy, hearing the command to leave, looked up, eyes wide. He didn't need to be told twice. He scurried to his feet and took off.
Maria didn't look up. Still hadn't really moved at all, just glared down at her hands. Even though they were wet you could see the sparks trying to start again. Not from the table though. From her hands. Finally she closed her hands into tight fists, extinguishing those sparks and looked up to meet the guy's glare with her own. "Told you." She muttered darkly as she pushed out her chair and stood.

@maria <3 What was this? A bonfire? She acted as if nothing was wrong! Her own glare met his and he scoffed at her. "Told me nothing! You can't just go around setting things on fire, and if you do, you obviously have no control over it. Something like that needs to be controlled, or you'll really hurt someone." Like that cousin the boy spoke of, the Durmstrang Champion. Samuel had read of him in the paper, Elias he believed it was. And if she was this angry about what the boy said, she must care a lot about this Elias character.
Maria stood up and Samuel held up a hand, moving in front of her. "Hold on, you're not going anywhere like this. You need to calm down. Sit." Samuel moved from the burnt table to the one opposite of it and sat down. Taking his wand he conjured his coffee and bagel from his prior table and took another bite. "You hungry, Blaze?"

Right. Saint. Of course he was lecturing her about setting things on fire. Ugh. It did nothing to improve her mood at all. "I can control it just fine." She snapped back defensively. She could. It was just... when she was mad. Fire was so closely tied to her anger it just... happened. She couldn't stop it sometimes. But now she was sure that kid would go telling everyone how Elias' psycho cousin had tried to set him on fire and kill him. Either way, she was pretty sure Elias would hear about it all before she even got back to the castle and she'd be in for another lecture. It didn't help that there was no one really left that could help her learn to control it. Maria didn't have any contact with any of her full blooded Veela family, or even know any full blooded Veelas. What she'd learned she'd had to figure out on her own. It didn't help that even other part Veelas were useless in that regard. She'd yet to meet another that could start fires like her... "A little too late not to hurt someone." No, Maria knew she'd seriously burned some people before. At home. At Durmstrang. She didn't know how many times she'd hurt someone.
Maria's hands were itching like crazy, and she'd planned on leaving, but obviously this guy had other plans. He'd stepped into her path, holding up a hand and telling her she wasn't going anywhere until she calmed down. "I am calm!" No, she wasn't. Her hands were proof of that, still trying to ignite. After a moment though, she huffed, and shook her head. Whatever. She took the seat opposite, sitting down and rubbing the palms of her hands together as if it might help with the itching. The nickname, Blaze, was a new one, and Maria raised an eyebrow at him as she squeeze her hands shut again. "Are you offering?" She asked. She was a little hungry, if she was being honest with herself.

@maria <3 Samuel laughed out loud. Just fine? That was another lie. Two in a row for this Maria girl, let's see how many more times she throws them out there. "That's very unbelievable, as I'm sure you didn't purposely set a table on fire." Maybe she did, but then Samuel would be worried about her mental health. No one in their right mind would do such a thing. "Well if it's a little too late, you've obviously got a problem, Maria."
The smile that crossed his lips should tell Maria that he knew she wasn't calm. That was probably the most obvious thing out of this entire escapade. However he must have caught her attention as her demeanor changed and she sat at the table in front of him. Samuel sat back in his chair, sipping his coffee. "Sure I am. Go ahead, order whatever you'd like."

Didn't purposely set it on fire? Now that was the question wasn't it? She hadn't told her hands to ignite but she'd felt it coming. "I didn't purposely try to stop it either." Maria admitted. No, a part of her had wanted to hurt him. A very angry, and dark part of her. The part of her that didn't trust anyone, or allow her to grow any sort of attachments. The part that had her convinced that no one would ever stay so it was better to leave them then wait for them to leave.
Her hands didn't itch as bad, that was good. At least they'd stopped sparking. That eyebrow remained raised as he responded, basically giving her free reign to order what she wanted. Finally she shrugged, and looked away. "Chocolate croissant." she muttered. Thankfully one of the waiters, that had come to fix the table had stopped when they heard the small conversation and waited for her to decide what she wanted. They nodded and left to fill the order. "So do I at least get to know your name, or will I be making one up?" she asked, finally looking back at him.

@maria <3 "Well that's terrible! Why would you ever want to hurt a person?" Maria must have anger issues. That was all he could think of that would make her act this way and have absolutely no guilt about it. Samuel considered that borderline crazy, although this young girl didn't seem too crazy, just in love with her fiery hands. If he had that type of power he'd be sure to know how to control it so he didn't hurt anyone. Then again, Samuel seemed like a much nicer person than Maria put off.
Chocolate croissant...That's different, but who was he to judge? Here he was eating a bagel, maybe she didn't like bagels. Samuel watched as the waiter walked off to get her order and he took another bite of his food. She questioned his name and he shrugged. "After this scene you caused, I don't think you don't deserve to know my name." He was being honest, something he found very important. The truth hurts sometimes, but lying hurts my more.
