Adeline smiled with relief when Lysander confirmed he was omnivorous and not going to judge her too harshly for her meal choice, and was happier still when he joined her with the same plate. They ate in a comfortable silence, Adeline not realizing just how hungry she was and eating with a bit of gusto. That came with consequences though and as Addie reached for her water goblet she hiccuped. Her eyes widening, she covered her hand with her mouth and giggled. "Sorry!" she exclaimed breathlessly, hiccuping again. She took a sip of water and took several deep breaths.
Adeline took a few minutes before finishing off her plate of lamb, then dabbed her mouth with a napkin daintily. "I have to say, I do really miss the food here. It's always so filling and wonderful," she mused, taking another sip of water. When she was certain the hiccups were gone, she stood, hearing a slow song being struck up by the band. "Shall we?" she asked him, holding out her hand.

At first, Sander didn’t know what the sound that Addie had made was. He didn’t think he’d ever had the hiccups, or at least not in his memory. That might explain why he was only average height, Sander thought with a slightest bit of a smirk. “It’s quite alright.” Sander said, the smirk morphing into a smile. “Diaphragmatic spasms are nothing to be ashamed of, though perhaps eating a bit slower would help ease them.” He said, hoping that Addie could tell he was teasing even without the playful glint in his eyes that normally accompanied his good-natured ribbing. It was strange, how much expression Sander realized eyes could convey, now that he didn’t have any to fulfill that purpose.
“I’m going to miss it, too.” Sander said with a wistful sigh. Nothing they had made in America had compared to the house elves’ cooking, and Sander was worried that his rather abysmal cooking skills, combined with limited resources, was going to leave him very hungry after graduation. When the slow song struck up, Sander hadn’t expected Addie to invite him to the dance floor, but he took her hand without hesitation, leading them both to the floor. “Is that your brother?” Sander said, voice low. He nodded over to where a boy with Addie’s complexion and smile was dancing with another man. They looked…happy. It had always been what Sander had dreamed for himself – finding another boy to love. It was funny, how dreams could change. Now, Lysander wasn’t sure he could love someone – or let someone love him – at all.
