sarah. i have the kid. you want him back? come get him. nikolaj. it hadn't occurred to nik that maybe he had taken things a little far by taking the kid until he had actually done it and sent the owl off to sarah. but damned she'd left him no choice. dropping a bombshell like that and then to have fallen pretty much off the grid. he'd driven himself almost crazy over the last few days trying to find her. when he had stopped trying to find her and gone straight for sebastian, as the letter from her brother had told him the boys name was, it had gone smoothly. it had been pretty easy to find who had been dealt the task of looking after the kid, someone in knocturn alley he had overheard complaining about getting stuck with the task the next day so nik had waited. followed and when he had felt it was time had gone in and taken the toddle. it had been surprisingly easy to take him. a quick spell to take out the babysitter and then he'd plucked a sleeping sebastian from where he'd been placed and he'd apparated back to his own place. he had plans to question sarah on why it had been so easy and why she hadn't left him with someone who would have put up more of a fight than the person she had.
though none of that mattered now, he thought to himself as he laid the kid in the middle of his bed. it was surprising that he was still asleep after the apparating back to nik's place but he was, still sleeping soundly which made nik think there was some sort of sleeping potion involved but so long as the kid was breathing it was okay. he sat down next to him, almost feeling perplexed that this small body before him was something he had had a hand in making. he'd always wanted an heir but he hadn't expected it to feel so .. he couldn't think of it. he ran his hand through his hair as he frowned. sarah had kept his son from him. for too long and he wasn't about to let her keep doing that. he reached his hand out, slowly as if almost afraid of what would happen but he touched his fingers gently to the boy's forehead, brushing some of the hair on his forehead back before he pulled his hand away and stepped away from the bed. there was no doubt in his mind about his parentage of the child. he was the spitting image nik had been in the few photos that existed of him at that age. he scowled as he felt a strange sense of pride burn deep in his chest and he rubbed his fingers above the spot. he moved to the window, figuring sarah would have the owl by now it wouldn't take her too long to show up in his house and he wanted to be ready.

@nikolaj
Sarah was going to kill him. Or at the very least seriously maim that pretty face for daring to take her son and taunting her about it. She didn't care that he was Sebastian's biological father at the moment, all she cared about was making him pay.
Despite being so furious she was seeing red there was a deathly calmness about her. Deadly precision as she returned to the shop she'd left Sebastian at. Normally Dakoda or Callisto would babysit for her (Mina was completely out of the question), but both had to work today so she'd left the boy with an old friend for a few hours. She'd gone to school with the man, so she knew she could trust him. And she only needed a few hours. With Sebastian's small fever still she'd known she couldn't exactly take him. So, after having the toddler take a weak sleeping potion (he was always so restless when sick that it was the only way to get him to get much needed sleep) she'd left. Her old friend, after rousing, verified that it had been Nikolaj that had taken Sebastian and he had no idea where they'd gone. That was alright. Sarah knew where he'd gone.
Sarah didn't need magic to get into Nikolaj's apartment unnoticed. Her movements were deathly silent, the woman slipping inside with making even the softest of sounds. Almost like a ghost. Due to the apartments size it took only a second to find Nikolaj. In the bedroom facing the window, Sebastian fast asleep on the bed. Sarah didn't look at her son, knowing by the sound of his breathing that he was fine. Instead she slunk up behind Nikolaj and pressed the tip of a razor sharp blade against the small of his back and finally made her presence known. "Give me one good reason not to kill you right now." she breathed, her voice just as cold and calm as she looked.

when he felt the tip of something sharp touch the small of his back he couldn't help the smirk that crossed onto his face. well he had been expecting her to show up but he had expected her to make some sort of sound, though if she had been hoping to scare him she'd been mistaken. "Give me one good reason not to kill you right now." he raised his brow slightly as he folded his arms over his chest, turning his head to look at her over his shoulder. "because i just took what's half mine." he said, casually as he turned back to the window. some might call him stupid for turning his back on someone that wanted to hurt him but in all honesty he was of the opinion that if she wanted him dead she'd have tried harder to kill him while she'd had the element of surprise.
he glanced at his son's sleeping form, reflected on the window he was staring at and he couldn't help but frown. "you kept him from me. for this long." he almost snarled out at her. his son. his heir. something that he had deserved to know about. "were you ever planning on telling either of us?" he asked her, turning his head back to her with something of fury burning behind his eyes. though he knew it would be no match for the fury she'd be feeling at him and he could handle that. he had taken her son after all and while he wasn't afraid of her and he was known for being cruel, he didn't doubt the love some parents could have for their children. he'd seem them do amazing things while trying to defend the lives of their spawn, often it failed but before it had, it earned a small amount of respect from him. his parents would have thrown him and his siblings under the bus if they thought it would save their own lives, so parents that were actually parents, he held them in slightly higher of a regard. just slightly though. "you know he looks like me." he couldn't help but point out as he turned slightly, waiting for her to dig the knife into his back.

@nikolaj
Nikolaj didn't move away, smart move. Didn't want to accidentally stab him before she was ready, right? He did turn his head to look at her over his shoulder though. Sarah fixed him with a ruthless, predator stare. Like she might skin him alive without any remorse or hesitation. Really looked like she was considering it too. His reason made her snarl, baring her teeth. Oh how she wished she kept her wolf canines in human form. "You fathered him. That doesn't make him half yours." She practically growled.
Her eyes narrowed as she caught him looking at her - their- son's reflection. Kept him from Nikolaj? Neither of them had been interested in a kid when they'd hooked up. It'd been a good one night stand, and that was it. Nothing was expected after that night. From either of them. She scowled as he continued to speak and shifted the dagger in her hand to bring it to the back of his neck, jut hard enough that any more pressure and she'd break skin. Just to warn him how close she was to an artery, so he'd know how easily it would be to push just a little harder.... "And what would telling you have changed?" she hissed. He'd been young. Legal age, of course, but young. Eighteen at the time. "Would you have even wanted a son then?" She continued to ask in that same tone and dangerous look in her eyes. She'd refused to address his comment on if she'd planned on telling them. Why? Because she didn't know. So, she refused to answer.
It was only when Nikolaj stated that fact, the one they were both acutely aware of, that she stepped away, pulling the dagger away from his neck and slipping it back into it's sheath at her waist. Her expression was still hard, as if she might strike at any given moment. "I know." She stated. Sebastian took so much after his father. It was uncanny. Even down to his expressions (which Nikolaj hadn't even seen). It was almost like looking at a little Nikolaj. Speaking of... Sarah stepped away from Nikolaj, moving back to the bed where Sebastian slumbered, and sat down next to the eighteen-month-old, the same hand that had previously threatened to kill Nikolaj now delicately brushing away a lock of hair. The boy needed a hair cut sometime soon. She pressed the back of her hand gently to his forehead. Still a small fever but definitely better. Her hand still rested there as her gaze turned back to the father of her son, a bloodthirsty look in her eyes. "If you ever try this again, I will rip out your throat, Nikolaj." And from that look? She definitely meant it.

"You fathered him. That doesn't make him half yours." he heard the tone of her voice, the look in her eyes that he was close to crossing a line but he figured he should try. he didn't plan on letting this go anytime soon. "it makes him as much mine as he is yours." he hissed back at her. they both had a part in making sebastian and yet she had taken it upon herself to keep him as just hers. he didn't like that. he felt the knife shift from the middle of his back to his neck and he felt the first spark of death since this whole thing had started, though he still didn't think it would get that far. she had to be quicker than him though and he was willing to bet his magic against a knife. she might like muggle weapons but he had been groomed to use his magic for such defense and he trusted his instincts.
"And what would telling you have changed? Would you have even wanted a son then?" his eyes narrowed as he looked back at her. it would have changed everything. he had to think about it though for a moment before he answered her. his first answer was no. he wouldn't have wanted a son at the age of eighteen, but he'd have dealt with it. looked after the kid just like she had, come around to the idea. "i would have wanted him as much as you did." he said at her, his voice dark. "i doubt you wanted a kid the night we slept together." he said to her. "but clearly you came around to the idea. you didn't even give me the chance to." he said, his voice full of anger.
"I know." honestly, he hadn't expected her to agree with him on that one. he took a step to the side and toward the bed when she sheathed her knife and he folded his arms over his chest as he watched her settle onto the bed next to seb's still sleeping form. he watched, in slight wonder that someone who had been so willing to kill him a second ago could be so gentle now with something that looked to fragile but he figured she had practice. "If you ever try this again, I will rip out your throat, Nikolaj." he made to sit down on the other side of the bed. seb was between them. their child, he thought as he looked down at the toddlers sleeping form and he reached out to lay his hand on seb's back, curling his fingers around his side slightly as he he lifted his eyes from him to sarah and he nodded his head. "deal. so long as you don't keep him from me."

@nikolaj
Sarah actually growled as Nikolaj spoke, hissing out that Sebastian was as much his as Sarah's. "Like hell it does." Her voice was threatening. She'd been the one to carry Sebastian. Gone through giving birth to him. Raising him. Changing most his diapers. Teaching him how to walk (and failing at preventing him to learn how to climb.). Of course, she hadn't given Nikolaj a chance to help in anyway. She frowned as he answered her questions, throwing them back in her face. No, she hadn't wanted to have a child that night. She'd almost had an abortion before someone managed to convince her not to. She hadn't wanted any of this. Funny how once Sebastian was born how it had all changed. "If I didn't want you to have a chance, I never would have told you." She snapped. No, she could have kept the whole thing a secret. She didn't have to tell Nikolaj. She could have just left without saying anything the other night. She could have said the father was anyone else. But she hadn't.
But she also hadn't wanted Nikolaj to get it into his head that kidnapping her - their- son was a good idea.
Sarah went eerily still when she felt the bed shift under Nikolaj's weight. It was smart of him to stay on that side of the bed, keeping Sebastian between them. She was much less likely to try to hurt him if she had to get around the boy. Her gaze didn't look away, focused quite intensely on Nikolaj. That dark look turned to a more primal protectiveness. "And what do you want to do with him?" she asked slowly, her voice still threatening violence at the slightest misstep.

"If I didn't want you to have a chance, I never would have told you." he frowned and narrowed his dark eyes at her again. did she really expect him to believe that? sure she could have lied but if she had been willing to give him a chance she'd have done it before now. "sorry sarah, but you're about a year and a half to late for me to believe that." he said as he crossed the room to the bed. he hadn't had the best father role model growing up. he hadn't been loved as such, he'd been a much wanted heir but that was about the extent of it. he was a requirement for his parents, they had needed someone to pass things down to. they had his sisters too but he had been the first. he wanted to be different.
"And what do you want to do with him?" he leaned forward slightly, keeping his hand on his son as he smoothed down the boys shirt that had crumbled slightly ad he raised his brow slightly. what did she think he wanted to do with him? he assumed that she'd worry he'd try and take seb off her and while the thought had crossed his mind he had decided against it. which was for the best because watching her with him, the worries he'd had about her ability as a parent, for leaving him with such an incompetent babysitter, were fading away. "the same thing you want to do with him. raise him as my son like you want to raise him as yours." he said as he looked down at seb as the baby started to stir under his hand.

Sarah gritted her teeth and growled at his words. Prick. If she hadn't wanted him to know about Sebastian she never would have told him. She wouldn't have even come near him. "And as I told you, I've been away." This was the longest she'd been home since she first got pregnant. Her trips home had been short and infrequent. Finding Nikolaj had never been an option.
Sarah's gaze was intense and scrutinizing as she stared at him, waiting for him answer. Hed decided quickly that he wanted to play a role in their son's life. In so much that he'd resorted to Kidnapping. While his methods made her want to stab him (repeatedly) the fact that he was so desperate that he'd resort to such measures didn't go unnoticed. She felt the stirring under her hand and finally tore that harsh gaze away from Nikolaj and glanced down at her son. The potion hadn't been strong, just enough to help him sleep so it wasn't to surprising he was beginning to stir. "I'll let you see him. But don't you dare try to take him without my knowing." She meant that.

"I'll let you see him. But don't you dare try to take him without my knowing." he frowned a little and shook his head. she was missing his point. he didn't just want to see him. he wanted to raise him. be involved, which meant more than being there on weekends and whenever sarah could be bothered to bring him. "i don't think you understood .. i want to help raise him. not just see him from time to time sarah." he said, wanting her to argue with him. she might have kept seb alive for the last year and a while but it seemed she didn't have him all the time. which granted wasn't a bad thing but clearly her work took her away and she needed someone to watch him. he didn't like the fact that she left him with people who were so easy to overpower. though their argument would have to wait a little while longer, he thought to himself as he watched seb sit up, rubbing at his little eyes with his curled up fists and nik shifted from the bed, kneeling down next to it to be closer to eye level with the son who looked so much like him. "well hi there sebastian." he said with what was probably the softest smile he'd ever let cross his face and he looked up at sarah. "well aren't you going to introduce us?" he asked as he folded his arms on the edge of the bed, leaning forward slightly as he watched seb with almost fascination.

Sarah grit her teeth, baring them in an angry snarl as Nikolaj made his intentions clear. He wanted to help raise their son. "And you want to discuss it now, when I'm still debating ripping your throat out?" She threatened. When she was still angry that he'd dared considered kidnapping her son.
Unfortunately, with Sebastian waking she couldn't stay this angry. She always tried to shield her son from her temper and her line of work. He'd only get upset himself if he knew she was mad, and her work would only confuse him. Even when he was barely awake and groggy. The little boy let out a slur of sounds, not words obviously, as he roused. Sebastian wasn't speaking much yet, just a few words. Forcing herself not to react when Nikolaj addressed her son, she forced herself to smile. Immediately upon spotting his mother Sebastian held out his little arms. He was always clinging when sick. "Hey buddy." Her voice was considerably softer then before and she reached out to put her handds under his arms and lift him into her lap. "Did you have a good nap?" She softly asked as she rubbed his back. His reaction was only another incoherant word and eyerub. At Nikolaj's almost.... demand that she introduce him, she glared over her son's head. "Sebastian, can you say hi to mommy's friend?" Another mumbled intangible word, but at least Sebastian had turned his head to stare at Nikolaj with eyes he'd inherited from the man. His mother's eyes were much harder, as if daring Nikolaj to try and explain to the boy who he was. Sebastian was simply too young to understand what it would mean.

"And you want to discuss it now, when I'm still debating ripping your throat out?" he knew he was still angry at him and probably would be for the rest of their lives really, after all he had kidnapped her son. his son. their son. he knew he was being selfish but he wasn't afraid to admit it was a glaring part of his personality. he often did what was best for him and he didn't often think of how it would affect others, such as now. "yes sarah. as you know, you're not one for staying in one place. how do i know it won't take me months or even years after this to find you again?" he asked her, raising a brow as he rested his arms down on the bed. "besides if you wanted to do it you would have done it when my back was turned." he said, letting his eyes roll slightly as he watched her take seb into her arms and comfort him. "Hey buddy Did you have a good nap?" he let his face turn into a smirk as she glared at him across his head as he asked her to introduce them. it wasn't something too hard really. just a few words that would mean little to seb at this moment and he knew that. "Sebastian, can you say hi to mommy's friend?" he took in a breath, slightly sharper than the others he'd been taking as he looked into seb's eyes for the first time since he'd taken him. he'd been asleep for the whole time so he'd only been able to look upon his face. "it's nice to meet you sebastian. my name's nik." he said as he crossed his arms and shifted slightly, kneeling on the floor next to the bed instead of crouching. he knew that seb was too little to really understand what nik was to him, it wasn't rocket science to know that seb would only understand that sarah had been there and nik hadn't, the words would mean nothing from a man he didn't know so he was willing to wait. "see." he said, looking up to sarah over seb's head. "wasn't that hard, was it?"

@nikolaj
Well... He was right about her being a moving target. That she didn't stay in one place. Of course, he also didn't know about her current arrangemet with Elaine. Of course Sarah knew about Nikolaj, and the role he played for the Purifiers. Sarah knew all the members (at least by name). But, they wouldn't know hers. Elaine ensured that Sarah's identity remained hidden to all the other Purifiers. Despite his correct assumptions, it did little to pacify her mood. If it weren't for her son she might have growled at him, but Sebastian had looked at her right then. "Nothing I say will make you believe I'm staying, despite that being the truth. So what are you suggesting, Nikolaj?" She demanded to know. What was it that he intended to do to ensure she didn't move on, like he was assuming she would?
After his 'sort of' greeting to Nikolaj, Sebastian turned back into his mother's arms and almsot seemed to curl up there, snuggling in tight with his head against her chest. Sarah could still feel his fever. Better then before, but still there. Instinctively she freed one of her hands and smoothed a stray hair on his head. "There are plenty of things that aren't hard." From the way she said it, it was clear she was meaning ways of hurting Nikolaj. "I hope you realize how lucky you were he didn't wake up until I got here. Do you even know how to care for a toddler?" A sick toddler, no less. Who's exposure to magic had been quite limited thus far so he had a very difficult time handling it in general. When Sarah left Sebastian with someone, it was someone she knew was capable of caring for Sebastian without resorting to magical means.

"Nothing I say will make you believe I'm staying, despite that being the truth. So what are you suggesting, Nikolaj?" he'd have to see it. that was the bottom line. she could tell him he was staying all she wanted but until he saw it he would always question. always ask and then when he was sure he wouldn't. this was something important, he wasn't about to let his son go again now. the few moments he'd spent with him had just cemented that. "i'm suggesting we work something out sarah." he said with a serious tone. they'd need to do at least that. "I hope you realize how lucky you were he didn't wake up until I got here. Do you even know how to care for a toddler?" he shrugged his shoulders a little. he didn't but it couldn't be rocket science. after all she'd left him with an idiot so he was confident he'd have been able to keep the kid alive for the few moments she wasn't there. "well it's not like i'd have had him for hours sarah. but you left him with an idiot who let me take him .. i think i'd do a better job than that." he said as he watched seb snuggle into his mothers arms. he flexed his fingers, wanting to reach out to touch his son like he had done while sarah hadn't been there but he wasn't stupid, he knew enough to know that if he reached over to touch him sarah would take his fingers. it had been okay when seb had been asleep but he was awake now and he didn't know nik. "is he alright?"

Work something out. Obviously. Wasn't that what they were 'discussing'? Though what that verdict would be.... Who knew. "Get me a piece of parchment." She finally answered. He wanted proof she wouldn't leave? Well, she might as well give him something useful. Especially if she didn't want him trying to repeat this little kidnapping antic.
Sarah growled as he mentioned the person she'd left Sebastian with. Yes, the person in question hadn't been the best choice. But Sebastian had been asleep and it'd been too short of notice to see if her parents or brother was available. Heaven above she'd never trust Mina to babysit Sebastian alone... But, she chose not to pursue that conversation because he was right about the old friend not being the best choice. But her expression made it clear that he shouldn't be rubbing that in her face. As for Sebastian being all right... Sarah placed a hand on the back of Sebastian's head in a comforting fashion. "He's been sick." She finally explained. Maybe then he'd understand why she was so angry. Well... she would be angry if he hadn't been sick, but it also explained the little boy's clinginess.

"Get me a piece of parchment." he complied, summoning a piece from the desk out in the hall of his apartment. he didn't want a repeat of what had happened today and while he'd told her he wouldn't do it again if she tried to keep seb from him, now that he knew about him it would be a different story. he set the paper down by her and left her to her own devices with it, turning her focus back onto seb as he asked about how he'd been. "He's been sick." he frowned a little and shifted a little, taking a closer look, if that was possible, at seb. "is he getting better?" he was surprised to find that a strange feeling twisted into the pit of his stomach, something that was oddly familiar with worry, a feeling it had been a while since he'd felt.
