It was.... It was so strange. To see someone she finally looked like aside from her sister. Her brothers through Pansy and Marcus were a good mix between the both. And her brothers through Pansy and Ernie... Well, they were half Indian. There was absolutely no resemblance. But finally, finally there was someone that actually looked like her family. Despite his refusal to play a role in her life.
Slowly Dusti started to turn the pages of the album. Pictures of birthday celebrations and family gatherings. Pictures of her father, and her half brothers, and Madam MacMillan. It all brought about a new dilemna. They could refuse it all they wanted, but Madam MacMillan's family was also Dusti's... So what did that make Madam MacMillan to Dusti? If the marriage was still intact it would made Madam Macmillan Dusti's 'step mother', even without any relations with her biological father. But what about now?
Soon she reached the end of the album, of that stained but last family photo. And Dusti finally and slowly looked up at the woman again. "I'm sorry. For my mother's role in your divorce." At the begining.... They'd looked so happy. Why would her biological father ruin it all?

As Dusti looked through the photographs, Parvati looked on, feeling that it all was bittersweet. She had to wonder what was going through the girl's head as she looked at vignettes of her biological father, a man who hadn't reached out to her or her sister. Did she feel connected to him at all? It was easy for her to feel a connection to each moment in the album, Parvati thought; she had lived it: The diyas and rangoli of a Diwali celebration that had faded into Halloween; the utter madness that was attempting to celebrate birthdays as a twin with sons who were also twins, repeated year after year; Christmases that had always been quite traditionally British in spite of her family's roots…
The list went on until, somehow, Dusti had reached the end. She looked up, and Parvati's gaze met hers. “I'm sorry,” Dusti apologized. “For my mother's role in your divorce.”
Parvati—not expecting those words at all—paled and choked up, shaking her head. Dusti had nothing for which to apologize, yet she was apologizing for her mother's actions. She would never receive that apology from Pansy herself now, but Parvati knew that she couldn't accept it from one of her daughters. They were innocent. “I-It's not your fault, Dusti. Please don't think that.” It had never been because of her and Elizabeth.
She exhaled. “I can't lie… It does hurt sometimes,” she admitted, forcing herself to smile, “but I'm… lucky that I had what I did.”

Not her fault?Tecnically... No. But Dusti and Elizabeth were.... were proof of their biological's adultery. While her mother's decision in the events wasn't surprising in the least, it made Dusti wonder why her biological father had done such a thing. Pansy had been a greedy, angry, and alcoholic woman. No doubt she'd done it simple because she didn't feel like sleeping with her husband. But her biological father? He'd had a wife that actually loved him. He'd been in a good place. What had possessed him to fall into Pansy's arms? More then once if Dusti knew her mother. Dusti glanced down at that last photo in the album one last time, before reaching out and setting it on the desk between her and the older woman. "No, but I don't think it's easy being faced with a reminder every day." She slowly answered. Madam Macmillan had to see the twins so often, constantly reminding her of what he'd done.
Dusti paused when Madam Macmillan admitted that it hurt sometimes, and added that she was lucky for what she'd had. For some reason Dusti had a hard time believing that. Maybe it was because of her own family. She didn't have any memories with her family that made her feel 'lucky'. She wouldn't say that though. Wouldn't admit aloud what her parents had really done to them. Only Albus knew everything. And now that they were dead? She didn't have any reason to tell anyone else, ever. So, she just nodded in response.

Dusti set the album back down. “No,” she said in response, “but I don't think it's easy being faced with a reminder every day.”
Yes, Parvati thought, the girls looked like Ernie more than her sons with him did. She had realized that months before, but she couldn't change that her ex-husband had had two children with someone else. Picking apart how much like them they actually were would only drive her to madness. Now, they were a link to someone else for her, too: Marcus. Even if that link hadn't been there to cushion the blow, she couldn't resent them. She still had questions, but those were things that Ernie would have to answer for himself.
“I… wouldn't say ‘easy’, no,” Parvati granted. “It's put me in an awkward position, too.” Breaking that news to the Flint girls and then to her own sons had been one of the hardest things that she had ever done, she felt.
Realizing for how long they must have been conversing, Parvati gave a soft laugh. “And I'll be put in an awkward position at the next staff meeting if Professor Malfoy thinks I've been keeping her students from dinner.” She should have been keeping an eye on the time, she thought, but it was probably better that she hadn't rushed things.

An awkward position. That was one way of putting it. Finding out girls you'd known for six years, taught for six years, were, in fact, the off spring of your cheating ex husband. And suddenly realizing that your ex husband hadn't just been cheating, but had also fathered other children before fathering your own. After all, Dusti and Elizabeth were older then the MacMillan boys... her half brothers. Dusti still hadn't spoken to them. Refused to. Maybe Elizabeth had, but she wasn't interested in it. Family wasn't exactly the easiest topic for her. She chose not to respond though, just slowly nodding.
At the mention of Professor Malfoy and dinner, Dustin just shrugged. "She'd probably just think I was in detention again." Despite being the captain of the Slytherin team Dusti had a reputation for getting detention. Almost entirely for her attitude. None the less she slowly got to her feet. "Thank you, for the tea." And while she wouldn't say it, for talking to her. About... her father. Either way though she needed to leave.
