Jamie was exhilarated. She had gotten to spend the very first minutes of the new year with someone that made her head spin and her heart hurt in the best way possible, and she felt...good. She hadn't felt this good in a long time, maybe even since before she had bitten Matt last April. It didn't matter when the last time she had felt this good was, though, because she was feeling good now! And it was obvious, as Jamie walked through the corridors, that she felt good. She was like a ray of sunshine, which was good, because it seemed that some people weren't feeling so great, and they needed someone to help them remember to smile every once in a while. Jamie hummed to herself as she walked down the corridors, smiling at virtually everyone she passed but not really stopping, until she noticed a certain red-head. "Lily!" Jamie greeted happily.

Lily was also rather bright nowadays. She and Adrian had decided to e all lovey dovey and crap at the Yule Ball, and did their own fair amount of snogging on New Years Eve, and she was more happy than she'd ever been. Sure, she wasn't necessarily saying she was completely devoting herself to anyone but... basically she was, she just wasn't saying that. It was obvious enough.
Coming the opposite direction of her, was Jamie, her sister. She grinned widely as she saw that Jamie seemed to be walking on air as well, which was a great thing to see! "JAM JAMS!" Lily called, teasing with a horrid nickname as she reached the blonde. She embraced her tightly, pulling back just enough to look at her face but keep her arms on Jamies shoulders, "look at that smile," she mused.

Jamie let out a loud, slightly started laugh when Lily called her Jam Jams. That was certainly a new nickname, but it was a good one, and Lily said it so enthusiastically that even if it hadn’t been a good name, Jamie would have liked it anyways. Jamie squeezed Lily just as tightly as her sister squeezed her, and beamed when Lily said to just look at Jamie’s smile. “Do you like it?” She teased lightly. And then, because she could resist egging Lily on a little bit, Jamie winked at her little sister. “I smile when I’m happy. And I am very, very happy.” Hopefully Lily would take the bait. And even if she didn’t, Jamie would probably end up telling her about Will, because she was just about to burst at the seams with how in love she was.

@jamie “Of course I like it!” Happiness seemed to be all around these days. Except with Irina. She’d bounce back eventually though. And if she didn’t, Lily would find a way to get her back. Jamie on the other hand was exceptionally giddy. Lily liked that. Pulling away from the hug, Lily looped her arm through one of Jamie’s, and turned to continue in the direction that the Hufflepuff had already been going. She didn’t have anything to do for the rest of the day other than continue her snogging sessions with Adrian, so she could wedge in some time for Jamie. “Well, I’m happy when you’re happy too.” A general good mood made everything better, no matter how small something was. Lily really wanted to add stuff about her and Adrian, but for once she kept her mouth shut. That needed to be a surprise! And Jamie seemed really intent on talking about whatever it was that was making her happy.
“So,” Lily started, “what’s made you happy on this fine, January day?” She inquired. Unfortunately for Jamie though, Lily barely got a breath in before continuing. “Oh! Did they have chocolate for breakfast again? I love when they do that. Technically not supposed to eat it because it makes me all jittery and stuff, but whatever.” She threw her head back to laugh at it. Apparently she had enough energy as it was, but who didn’t love chocolate and candy? Boring people. That’s who. Candy fixed everything.

Jamie smiled down at Lily when the younger girl linked their arms together, and then continued walking. If she was honest, she didn’t remember where she had been going…but that was okay. It was a fine day just to walk around the castle anyways. “I’m happy when you’re happy when I’m happy.” Jamie teased, smile growing even better. This was kind of fun, this always-smiling thing, and she wondered if it was what Lily felt like on a daily basis. Jamie was normally happy, yes, but that was different from being giddy, and – yes, this must have been what it felt like to be Lily, because Jamie couldn’t imagine feeling any better.
Lily asked the question that she had been anticipating, and Jamie looked down at the Gryffindor, beaming even wider. Lily asked if it was because they had chocolate for breakfast, and Jamie laughed. “That would be great, but that’s not the reason.” Chocolate was fantastic, but love was even better. “I am in love with a boy.” She announced. Jamie wasn’t sure how much of Will Lily had seen, given that they had really only been together at the Yule Ball and on New Year’s Eve, and Jamie hadn’t seen much of either of her on either of those occasions. Jamie was more than prepared for a thousand follow up questions, so she didn’t say anything else, choosing instead to wait to hear what Lily wanted to know.

@jamie Lily couldn’t help but giggle uncontrollably at their war of happiness. This was nice. This was exactly what more people needed to be like. It made everything that happened before the Yule Ball feel so trivial and frivolous compared to now. “Good. Because being happy is the best.” She nodded her head in affirmation. “But for the record,” Lily playfully punched Jamie with her free hand, “I’m just as happy as you are.” Cloud nine was a good way to explain it, if not constantly feeling like she was on top of the world, or even high on life. There had been thousands of great moments in the past, but everything lately was leagues above those.
She scrunched her face up as Jamie commented that chocolate for breakfast wasn’t the reason that she was happy. Well that was a bummer. Lily couldn’t remember a time when that hadn’t made someone feel good, other than that time she may have eaten a little too much chocolate. It was Halloween though, who could blame her? Jamie continued talking though, explaining that her reason to be happy was because she was in love with a boy. Lily continued nodding her head, only stopping when she realized what had just been said. Physically halting their walk, she stared up at Jamie. “In love with a boy?! That’s great! No, that’s amazing!” What were the odds of that happening to both of them at the same time? “Who? Do I know him? Oh, oh and when and where! You need to tell me all the juicy details here!” She was practically shaking with excitement now, knowing that story time was about to be really fun.

Being happy was the best! Jamie wasn’t sure if there was a truer statement ever to be spoken. “When Lily Potter and Jamie Greyback are happy, the world is happy.” Jamie declared. That might not have been entirely true, and she definitely didn’t mean to say that people weren’t allowed to be sad because she and Lily were both happy, but Jamie liked to think that she and her sister shared a sort of radiant personality, and that their happiness – or lack thereof – was picked up on by the people around them. Jamie was definitely going to be asking Lily why she was so happy later, especially given the events of December, but for now she was content with being a little bit selfish and gushing about Will for now.
“Yes, it is amazing!” Jamie agreed, just as enthusiastically. “His name is William Windsor.” The Hufflepuff told the Gryffindor. “I don’t know whether or not you know him, but he was in your house before he graduated.” He was a few years older than Lily and Adrian, though, so Jamie wasn’t sure whether or not they would have had any real interaction. “…You may also know him because his great-aunt is the Queen of England.” Jamie said, attempting to be nonchalant about it, since that really didn’t mean much to her in the scheme of things. “We met at the Yule Ball because he was here for his siblings, and then we wrote letters and he came to kiss me on New Year’s Eve, and,” Jamie sighed dreamily. “It was so romantic. Like a fairy tale.”

@jamie “Couldn’t have said it better myself!” And she couldn’t have. There were a lot of things to be happy about, compared to last year. Other than becoming a werewolf. That was pretty sweet. She still hadn’t gotten over the fact that this was how things were going to be from now on, and they better stay like this too.
Jamie then revealed the name of the boy. Will Windsor. Lily could feel her mouth hanging open as she processed all of it. She knew him! He had only graduated, what, last year? Or was it the year before that? No matter. He was once in Gryffindor house so of course she knew him. “Psssh of course I know Willy. We go way back. I used to bug him a lot about that whole royalty thingy.” She had never really cared about him being related to the Queen, but was more interested in how muggle royalty was at Hogwarts. Apparently nobody else thought that was strange or anything. “Oh! And he’s nice. And pretty…pretty nice!”
She continued shaking her head as she listened to Jamie detail how they had met, at the Yule Ball of all places, and then they…they kissed on New Year’s? Had she heard that right? “Dang you two work fast. I guess it kind of has to be a fairytale right? He’s a prince or something after all.” She had been in her own dream-like fairytale since the Yule Ball as well. The school needed to hold that more often, it did wonders for everyone. “So is he planning to visit during Hogsmeade trips?” Lily kind of wanted to watch from a distance to see how Jamie was doing with him, and then pounce in last second to see both of their reactions. She’d leave them be eventually, but a little poking around never hurt anyone.

Jamie couldn’t have asked for a better response from Lily when she revealed the name of her new beau. She couldn’t remember the last time she had seen Lily this awestruck, which was pretty amazing in and of itself. The Hufflepuff hid a laugh behind her hand when Lily referred to the other Gryffindor as ‘Willy’. Somehow Jamie couldn’t see Will being comfortable with that nickname. “Every house has its own royal to bother.” Jamie told Lily, in case she had forgotten. It was rather fascinating, how the Windsor siblings had been split equally among the four Hogwarts houses. From what Jamie had seen, they all fit their house rather perfectly, though, and Jamie couldn’t help but wonder if the juxtaposition of houses was what made the Windsors’ relationships a tad stormy, at least when it came to Edmund. “Yes, he is nice.” Jamie said, blushing profusely at the thought of Lily calling her sort-of boyfriend pretty.
“When something’s right, it’s right.” Jamie said with a shrug. She had waited forever to tell Harper how she had felt, and that ended up rather poorly. The timing for that was also a little bit off, though, considering there was a guy being set on fire at the time, but… “He’s a knight, not a prince.” Jamie corrected. “Sir Lord William Windsor.” She added on Will’s official title just for effect. At the question about Hogsmeade, Jamie bobbed her head in a nod. “We’ve got dinner planned, since he’s going to be spending the rest of the day with his siblings.” Or at least with Susan, who was then supposed to learn of their relationship. “Why, are you disappointed you won’t be able to monopolize me?” Jamie teased. Strangely enough, she couldn’t remember ever having gone to Hogsmeade with Lily. They had met up once, when the Greybacks had had their awkward family reunion, but never spent the day together in the village, which was probably just as well, since Lily had other people to see.

@jamie Jamie was right, there were royals in each house. She had kind of forgotten about the others, seeing as they weren’t as memorable as Will was. That and Will had always been around as long as she had been in school, so it made sense to remember him over the rest. “Yes, yes he’s nice. We’ve established that.” Noticing the rather reddish hue on Jamie, Lily made sure to nudge her to make the next sentence land its mark. “And those eyes! Can’t forget them either.” She couldn’t actually recall what his eyes were like, but the reaction from the Hufflepuff would definitely give it all away.
Lily understood what her sister meant with when things felt right. It had taken a little while, give or take a few years, for her to understand what that was between her and Adrian. Maybe she had been a little too oblivious about it, considering he had no problem turning her into a werewolf, whereas most people would probably shrug her off. She had been rather pushy and persuasive about it though. At least Jamie could figure everything out in one shot. “Fine, knight.” Lily rolled her eyes dramatically, laughing the entire time. “But technically I’m not wrong. He can be your prince. Or knight in shining armor. Whatever you prefer.” Corny lines were her favorite. “Ooh dinner with the family already! At least you know them already, then things won’t be too awkward.” She recalled the look on Adrian’s face when she had shown up to his house in Germany over the summer. That there was awkward for him. Hilarious from her point of view though.
Was she disappointed? Not really. She could find other things to see or do, some which she could name off the top of her head instantly, but it would be fun to see Jamie around Will. “I can loan you out once in a while Jam Jams. You need to get out and spread your wings too! Just like me!”

Jamie rolled her eyes when Lily said that they’d established Will was nice. It was one of those things that deserved repetition, because it almost wasn’t believable that someone who had had servants at their beck and call could be so damn nice. Jamie had met nice purebloods, of course, but there was a difference between a nice pureblood and a nice royal. When Lily mentioned Will’s eyes, Jamie flushed even further. “They are very nice. And very blue.” She commented. Lily had a way of riling her up in a way Jamie didn’t expect, so even though she had gone into this conversation anticipating the third degree…this was so weird, and so different. When she and Harper had been dating, she didn’t really walk with Lily much about it, because Lily was Harper’s cousin and that was weird, but it was nice to get in some girl talk.
“It’s an important distinction to make!” Jamie protested when Lily said ‘fine, knight’ as if Jamie was being unreasonable for mentioning it. Unless Will’s mother somehow became the queen, Will wouldn’t be a prince, Jamie didn’t think, and since Will’s father had been the royal one in the family, that was never going to happen. “I prefer knight in shining armor, I think.” Jamie said. She didn’t like the idea that she needed to be rescued, but it fit with Will’s title and his Gryffindor tendencies, so she was fine with the less-than-stellar implications. “Not with the family.” Jamie corrected. “Dinner with him after he eats with his family.” Dinner with the family would be a lot more scary, because it would mean that eventually she was going to meet the Queen of England, and that was just weird.
Jamie smiled when Lily said that she could loan her out, and that Jamie needed to spread her wings. “Wolves don’t have wings, Lily.” Jamie said dryly.

@jamie Blue! That was the color she was looking for. She couldn’t recall off the top of her head what the color of Adrian’s eyes were, which was silly because she had spent the majority of every waking moment since the Yule Ball staring into them, except for when they were snogging of course. She’d remember eventually, but now wasn’t her time to shine. Watching Jamie gush over Will was adorable, and continuing to egg her on only brought out more blushing. Young love was heartwarming, or at least it was for Lily. She was fueled by romance and gossip of others. Obviously she wasn’t going to go blabbering about Jamie and Will because she had some self-restraint. She’d give them another week, maybe two tops.
“Being a knight is more gallant I suppose.” Princes only had the option to be a king, if that, whereas a knight fought for others. She could see how that fit Will, being a Gryffindor and all. He fit all the molds of courage and bravery, which was scarily accurate to what Gryffindor was supposed to be all about. “Does he have a set of armor? Because if he does I call dibs on trying it on first.” She distinctly remembered trying to get into a set of armor somewhere in the school fourth year, in which the armor magically came to life and kicked her out immediately. If only there weren’t preventative measures against fun.
Jamie corrected Lily’s statement about dinner with the family, instead saying it was a separate dinner after Will’s family dinner. How much could this guy eat? Pretty impressive, if she said so herself. “That’s too bad. Been there, done that, and it’s kinda fun.” Then she got an idea, raising her hand in the process. “What if you crashed their dinner? That would make for a great story to tell your kids someday.” Lily grinned, knowing that was going to push the Hufflepuff even more over the edge.
“We don’t? I could swear I was going fast enough last full moon…almost like I was flying!” The play on words probably wouldn’t cut it, but it was worth a shot. “Imagine if we could fly as wolves. That would be terrifyingly awesome…”

Jamie couldn’t disagree that being a knight was more gallant than being a prince. To her, prince seemed too…snotty. Will had a little bit of the uptightness that one could expect of royals, but Jamie was very quickly breaking that down, if she did say so herself. “He has a uniform.” Jamie said, remembering distinctly what he had been wearing during the New Year’s kiss. “I’m not sure about an actual suit of armor, though.” Did the Windsors have a coat of arms? They must’ve, Jamie decided. That was another thing to ask Will in her next letter, she supposed.
“You crashed a family dinner?” Jamie asked, not sure whether to be impressed or jealous. She had never met Adrian’s mother, which was a shame, hence the jealousy, but she was impressed that Adrian had told Lily where he lived. Or maybe he hadn’t, hence the whole ‘crashing’ bit. Knowing Lily, it was the latter. “Lily.” Jamie sputtered. “We’ve been dating two weeks!” Kids weren’t going to be on the table for a very, very long time, especially given the career that Jamie wanted to go into. And if she did have kids, they would be heirs to the throne of England, and – goodness, Jamie needed to lay down before she gave herself a stroke. Strokes weren’t something you could get from stress, but if you could, Jamie would.
Jamie gave Lily a sharp look when she said that she had been going fast enough last full moon to be flying. True, it had been over the break, but there were still rules that they were supposed to be falling, and Jamie didn’t think that running full tilt, fast enough to be flying, fit within the rules. Maybe Adrian said that she wasn’t older enough to count as an older sister, but she still had the tendencies, and occasionally someone was going to have to reign him and Lily in. That was a lecture for a later time, though. “Stop at terrifying. It would just be terrifying.” Jamie said. It would be awesome for them – mostly Lily, if they were being honest – if werewolves had wings, but absolutely terrifying for everyone else. The wolves could be scary enough without giving them extra perks.

@jamie “A uniform?” Lily repeated. Well, they had uniforms too. She supposed that a knight or royal uniform was pretty impressive by any means. Probably had lots of tassels and shiny medals on it. The whole works. “And a sword?” She practically yelled out her thought. A sword would be so cool. Now she wanted to know if he was trained in it as well. Having both magic and a sword totally made someone that much better. Her dad was always telling her that he had a sword once, but she always ignored that bit for the giant snake that came after. That was more interesting anyways. “Too bad about the suit of armor…I would have looked pretty good in it I bet.”
She let out a small giggle at Jamie’s surprise of her crashing a dinner. Was it really that surprising? She lived for that kind of stuff. “I only do that on special occasions.” She nodded her head to affirm it. “And in this case, it was to see Adrian confused on why I was in Germany. He had the funniest look on his face when he saw me at the door. It was priceless.” The look of utter disbelief and shock was something she’d never forget. “So what if it has only been two weeks? At the pace you two are going, you’ll be married by time term ends.” She paused for a moment to make sure Jamie was keeping up and not getting flustered again. “How does that song go? First comes love, then comes marriage, and then comes a baby Windsor in the baby carriage?”
She laughed again, only to turn it into a frown as Jamie said flying wolves would be terrifying. It wouldn’t be that bad though, would it? The only difference is that they would be in the air instead of running on the ground. They both knew what flying on brooms felt like, and the added enjoyment of being a wolf in that situation would totally be better. Sure, slightly scary for others, but not for them. “Don’t worry,” she added, patting Jamie on the shoulder, “we’ll never have wings, so it won’t be a problem. We’ll just settle for racing around in the woods.”

Jamie nodded when Lily repeated what she had said about the uniform. There had been other things to take Jamie’s attention at the time, so that hadn’t been what she had noticed immediately – the fact that Will was at Hogwarts was surprising enough in its own right. When Lily asked about a sword, Jamie paused before nodding again. “He wasn’t allowed to bring it into the school, but there was an empty sword frog at his waist, I think.” Jamie said. Again, that hadn’t been at the forefront of her mind when she had seen him, so maybe Jamie was just imagining things. “I don’t think it would have fit you, Lils.” Jamie said. Will was quite a bit taller than her, with wider shoulders, too. Lily would be swimming in his suit of armor – either that, or crushed by the sheer weight of it.
Only on special occasions. Jamie half-chuckled, half-snorted at that. Leave it to Lily to do something like that. Though now that the subject had come up, Jamie was a little worried about what would happen at her birthday dinner that year. “I’m sure it was.” Jamie agreed when Lily said the look on Adrian’s face was priceless. Adrian didn’t seem to be the kind to like surprises, but since it was Lily, he probably took it better than if it had been…well, anyone else. “I’m pretty sure that the getting married months after meeting thing doesn’t fly with royals.” Jamie said. There was always a chance that she was a terrorist or something who was only using Will to get closer to the throne. Which she wasn’t, of course, but not everyone was Jamie Greyback. “Besides, I’m waiting until after I get a solid five years of Quidditch in before having kids.” Jamie sniffed. She did want a family, eventually, but she wanted a career, too. If Jamie had learned anything in the past year, though, it was that even the best-laid plans could fall apart.
We’ll never have wings. That ought to have sounded different, Jamie thought, because now she was almost sad about it, even though she knew it was for the better that werewolves remained terrestrial. “I don’t know about you, but I’m staying in the hospital wing.” Jamie said. It was safer that way, and made it so no one could tamper with her Wolfsbane.
